Love love love this place! The flavor is amazing! They also serve soup in the beginning which is complementary. Beef dumplings are my favorite here. Seating can be full depending on the time and a day but they move quickly. There is a boba place right next door so the location is a win win for a big back like me.

Google
Yum! Small casual diner sort of atmosphere. Simple menu. You can watch them hand make the dumplings! Pork dumplings are my fave… but I haven’t tried them all.

Google
this place truly lived up to the hype as some of the best dumplings in st. louis! the pork soup dumplings were bursting with flavor and juice, and stayed hot till the end of our meal. 🥟 the wings were good, crispy and seasoned very well, although i do wish we would have gotten 4 wings for the price point of $9. we also appreciated the complimentary soup appetizer. the owner was very sweet and nice :)

Google
INCREDIBLE soup dumplings! As a Taiwanese-American who’s tried xiao long bao from all over, I can confidently say this place is the real deal. The fresh dough is perfection, the soup inside is rich and flavorful, and every bite feels authentic and well-crafted. Their chicken kebabs are also fantastic – juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. I really like that they offer chicken xiao long bao so people who can’t eat pork can actually try it. It was very juicy and delicious. They even give soup to every person who comes no matter how much you order. The spicy sauce deserves a shout-out for actually being spicy and has quite a kick! I have so much respect for how this place stays true to its roots. Unlike so many Chinese restaurants that over-Americanize their food, this spot hasn’t lost its authenticity. They even provide instructions on how to eat xiao long bao, which is perfect for first-timers. Next time I really want to try the braised pork because it looked delicious. Service is efficient and exactly what you’d expect for a bustling spot like this, and the prices are very reasonable. If you’re looking for genuine Chinese flavors with no compromise, this place is an absolute gem. Highly recommend!!

Google
LOVED this place. Just ate here for the first time. The dumplings are hand made and delicious. You can make your own sauce at the table with the soy, vinegar and chili paste provided -- I love spicy food, so I was very happy to be able to turn up the heat level. Dumplings come in orders of 6, fresh and piping HOT. Be careful! It's fast-casual. You order at the counter and they bring out your order to your table. Even during lunchtime on a weekday, we had our dumplings in about 10 minutes or so. I will DEFINITELY be back.

Google
It’s pretty cool to watch them making the dumplings. The service was good. The lady was super pleasant. You can a complimentary bowl of soup which was flavorful and warming. We ordered the chicken dumplings and the crab & pork dumplings. The crab and pork were the better of the two but both lacked a bit of flavor. You definitely couldn’t tell that crab was in there. The chicken was fried nice and crispy but don’t be fooled by the menu saying “hot wings” because nothing about these are hot. They barely even have any seasoning and they give you a side of sweet ketchup. Do make sure you grab a sparkling water tho because it’s probably some of the best I’ve had.

Google
All beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp dumplings are excellent! Dumpling skins are chewy, and when you take a little bite, you taste the burst of hot, savory broth. So satisfying and warming in the cold weather😙

Google
Soup Dumplings STL offers fantastic soup dumplings! It does get fairly busy with limited seating, so plan ahead. Be sure to try the cucumber salad. I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Saw this place on TikTok and just had to check it out! Did not disappoint. The dumplings are amazing and great quality. The place is small but so cute and aesthetic. Service was also great.

Yelp
This was my first time ever having soup dumplings and let me tell you, it was so so yummy!! I didn't know what to order so I got 3 different kinds of soup dumplings...and all of them were warm and lovely! Having never had anything like this before, I was a little skeptical of sipping broth from a dumpling before eating it, but it was so good! My mouth is watering just writing this review and thinking about it! Loved this experience and am excited to bring someone back with me to try more!

Yelp
I was excited to visit after hearing good things. My experience was not a great one at all. I walked up to the counter and the person at the counter totally ignored me as he continued to do whatever he was doing on his phone. I asked if I needed to place my order at the counter or if my order would be taken at the table since I had never been there and he told me to order at the counter. I had to continue to wait as he kept doing whatever he was doing on his phone. I almost left at that moment because I didn't feel like he wanted me to be in his establishment. I ordered beef, chicken, and pork dumplings. I loved the directions on the wall that showed the correct way to eat a soup dumpling since this was my first time. I did not like the dumplings at all. They tasted very wild and dirty to me. They were pretty but did not taste good at all. I will not be back ever.

Yelp
As much as I want to love this place, I find it just okay. It's probably because I've been spoiled living in NYC for five years and experiencing some of the best Xiaolongbao in the area. I find the dumplings at Soup Dumpling STL to be a bit gamey. While I do enjoy pork dumplings, the overwhelming smell here is difficult for me to handle. I still gave it 4 stars because it is the first soup dumpling restaurant in STL. I appreciate it when restaurants introduce new items to the city. I also do like that the wrapper is thinner than other soup dumpling spots that opened afterwards, even though some of them break easily. I'm also open to flavors outside of pork. They weren't amazing, but decent!
google avatar

Erica S.

Yelp
I haven't tried many soup dumplings but this is definitely my favorite place for them! I like the simple menu yet variety of soup dumpling fillings and sides. My favorite are the beef ones but I still have to try all the fillings. I love how they have the steps to eat a soup dumpling on the wall, which allowed me to advance from a beginner level! I've tried the seaweed salad too which is refreshing. Very good location, ambiance, easy parking, and nice staff. Always a pleasure coming here!

Yelp
The dumplings here are divine. It is a popular spot so be prepared to wait but the food is worth it. The service was nice and friendly. The space is pretty cozy and very clean.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place for a quick lunch or dinner! You order what you want up front and they bring it to your table. The restaurant is clean and vibrant. There's only a few tables and it can get pretty busy but people come and go pretty quickly. The soup dumplings are reallly good and always hit the spot. Soup is also complimentary.
google avatar

Cherie R.

Yelp
Simple menu but the soup dumplings here are anything but simple!! So delicious and I love that they come in a steamer - I loved the pork soup dumplings.
google avatar

Yelp
Honestly, there's nothing negative to say about Soup Dumplings STL! I wish there were more tables, alas, there's not. I had the beef dumplings and the pork dumplings. Wow. Wow. Wow. Craving more right now and I'm still full from dinner. The chili oil is deliciously spicy! You can't go wrong if you love soup dumplings! Small place - 8 tables I think. But it was quiet, food comes out quickly, so you don't have to wait very long for a table.

Robert B.

Yelp
Excellent dumplings and service! Everything was delicious! We got the pork dumplings, beef dumplings and braised pork with rice. You need to try them out. Some of the best soup dumplings I've ever had!
google avatar

Cristy M.

Yelp
The best soup dumplings, no matter what filling you get! This time we tried the pork and beef ones. Always so tasty! Chili oil highly recommended. They come out decently fast and even though it's a small space, we've never struggled to find a seat because people move in and out.
google avatar

Marissa J.

Yelp
Small but mighty. This is a very small restaurant with very limited seating so if you're looking to eat inside, you might have to wait for a table. Me and my friend came here for dinner and it was so good. I went home thinking about it all night and I can't wait to return back. I got the pork soup dumplings and they were so flavorful And it's crazy how something so small can be packed with so much great flavor. You can tell they really know what they're doing, and I bet you this is one of the top soup dumpling places in St. Louis.
google avatar

Jill M.

Yelp
This is not only one of St Louis's top 100 restaurants, it's one of my sister's favorites too! We were visiting from out of state for the holidays. What a great change from the traditional meals. You order from a limited menu at the counter. Limited is not a bad thing, it means they do one thing really well as in dumplings! I appreciated the simple to follow directions with graphics showing how best to enjoy these. In door dining space is limited, service is quick and food is delivered very hot to your table. We will return to Soup Dumpling the next time we are in U City.

Yelp
Grazie mille to a friend of mine who introduced me to this soup dumpling stl! It's my fav spot now in stl for lunch and dinner alike. It's mom and pop shop. You will get to see them make these yummy goodies in front of you and you know it's so authentic! The owner couples are very friendly and work hard. They used to own private kitchen and had converted to soup dumplings. Too bad I've never gotten a chance to try private kitchen. Wish they will just invite to their home for home cook meals (wishful thinking :)) If you are from out of town, def give this place a try! If you are from stl, go and support them whenever you can. I can eat one set for $9 and be full and it's super cheap imo! PS chili is spicy if you are up for it! PS2 I've been there so many times the owner recognizes me and she's always smiling.

Yelp
Arrived a little after 5 on a Thursday evening. No line. A few tables open for dine in and food came out and quick! Love the starter soup. A little before 6, the ordering line started forming and all the tables were taken! Definitely worth a visit, although the dumplings do taste better in house!
google avatar

Alexis G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious dumpling and I can't wait to come again! My only real "complaint " is I wish there was more space and seating! It is a smaller place, but for how good the food is I hope the can expand it one day!

Yelp
Soup Dumplings is in an older plaza with a small parking lot. The interior is basic but clean. The service was fast, but it does take a few minutes for them to prepare the food. The dumplings are amazing!!! We have tried beef, pork, and shrimp. All all delicious. There's even a mural on the wall teaching step by step the best way to eat them, for anyone new to soup dumplings. We will definitely be back!

Luke S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The experience is unique with the different types of dumplings. The chicken wings are great, too!

Yelp
It's been seven months since I've been eating here and I still dream of these dumplings! I just wanted to update my review because I've gone here religiously since I first checked this place out and EVERY TIME the dumplings have been phenomenal! Everyone I bring with me loves the food here and their side dishes are just as good as their dumplings. I would yet again highly recommend this awesome restaurant!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Soup Dumplings STL for quite some time and finally made it over this week! Apparently they moved and their new place is very cute. It only has maybe 8 tables, so I'm sure it can get crowded, but we were able to get a table with no problem at lunch. I ordered the crab and pork dumplings, beef dumplings, and cucumber salad. I have to say that I wasn't impressed with the crab and pork dumplings. They were ok, but not as great as I was hoping. I preferred the beef dumplings. You can watch as they hand make them and the wrapping is tender and thin. My friend got the shrimp and cheese dumplings and they were also good. The cucumber salad was refreshing. Overall, it was a good meal, but soup dumplings probably aren't my number one choice for lunch. However, if soup dumplings are your thing, give this place a try!
google avatar

Leah N.

Yelp
This is my second time here. There was less of a wait the second time around. Compared to the other soup dumplings place, I like this place better. There is even a soup that they give you first prior to eating the dumplings. We had pork, beef and shrimp and cheese dumplings. I forgot to take a picture of the shrimp and cheese dumplings. We also had cucumber salad. Overall, I like the beef dumplings the most.

Yelp
I love it! Soup dumplings are amazing and I'm glad that STL is so diverse. These are authentic because you can see the people that are working, making the dumplings right behind the register. Seating is limited, all the more reason to come in whenever you can. When I came in there were a good amount of tables open after 12 o'clock. Literally 30 minutes after, it was a full house as the lunch crowd came in. The dumplings were amazing and I can't wait to try the other kinds they have. I got the Crab and Pork dumplings and next time I want to try just crab. You get free clear soup before the dumplings come out. The table has chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar. The whole combination was yummy! Some people thing the price is kind of expensive for 8 dumplings but I'm fine with paying and supporting a local business.
google avatar

Zhaoyi L.

Yelp
We arrived around 7 pm and were surprised that the place was still packed. We waited 10 minutes since all the tables were taken. We ordered beef, chicken, and crab & pork. My favorite was beef. The portion was good - three orders are enough for two people. All were delicious. The soup was amazing too. I will come back for more!
google avatar

Somi M.

Yelp
YUP. I'm a dumpling fanatic. Ordered the pork dumplings (total with tax was $9.90). Comes with 6 dumplings and soup on the side! I think the soup had egg strips and was miso-based. I'm unsure, but it was great. Comes with the 3 usual sauces on the side -- soy sauce, chili oil, and vinegar of sorts. Also tried the beef and the chicken, which are great! You can't mix and match dumplings; it's just 6 per order. I think the colors on the sides of the bamboo steamers indicate which meat you got. And, I like the limited menu. My indecisiveness didn't come into play! Now, here's the downside. The amount of space. If you're going to come here to eat, you better get here early. DO NOT GO at 1 PM on a Saturday! The line in the pictures below clearly shows why. Just go right before the usual lunch rush or dinner rush. If you go 30 minutes before they close, they won't let you order! You kind of have to fight for a table, so as soon as you get in there, start scouting for a spot. If only 2 people are sitting at a 6 person table, just ask them if you can squeeze in there. They'll say yes! Everyone is nice in here and understands that space is limited. The service is slow, which MAKES SENSE because these are handmade dumplings. You can see the chefs making them right behind the counter! And, because there are only about a total of 4 people working there and they have to spread out between cleaning the tables, serving the food, and making the food, you'll be waiting a bit. But you can tell they're working hard to get the orders out. It's worth it. It gives a sort of hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop vibe. Just prep yourself to get there early and wait for a bit. Many people went next door to get boba and took it inside this restaurant to eat with their dumplings! Great idea. I'd come back!
google avatar

Christina Z.

Yelp
Service was quick and helpful and wow the dumplings!! I definitely added too much chili oil to my soup but it was still soo good. We got the pork and beef dumplings and on a cold day, they were comforting in the best way.
google avatar

Jeremy T.

Yelp
Best soup dumpling I had in St. Louis! Definitely fell in love with the Crab & Pork. Fast service, great food, it's a bit of fast service so make sure you eat and go
google avatar

Uma R.

Yelp
Come here once every few months! So good! Its family run restaurant vibe, and food is very good! Soup dumplings are amazing! Clearly freshly made, and the meat is high quality, and the dumplings are made so well (they even have instructions on how to eat them on the wall hehe). I recommend the crab and pork, or the pork - those are my top choices. The beef dumplings are good too. I switch between getting the braised chicken and rice or the braised pork and rice. I prefer the braised chicken bc I'm a chicken gal, but the braised pork is still good, just a little fatty. But the sauce is very flavorful. Definitely recommend coming here! Note that sometimes near the end of the day they may run out of some items. Also there's also a good boba place right next door you can try if there's a bit of a wait!
google avatar

Güneş Ö.

Yelp
This place is clean. There are 6-7 tables inside. It was little busy on a thursday around 6pm. Beef dumplings had good fatty beef in it. We were hungry, ordered 6 dumplings and after done eating, we felt like enough food in our bellies. Attention: Don't burn your mouth! There is a chart on the wall shows how to eat soup dumplings, the soup inside is very hot. Dumplings came with chicken broth, was a little bland. Ginger strings didn't help with the taste. Big bowl of cucumber salad was delicious! One of my favorite! Btw, if you take them to-go, you may not get full flavor. I recommend eating there because of the bamboo steamer they use. They cook the dumplings in it. If soup gets cooler while taking home and microwaving them, I think it would ruin the whole authenticity.
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
First time here, food is good... i can tell they put sugar make broth sweet and flavor but not much so it's ok to me. No service here, it kind da the owner do everything , they are really nice . About 6 7 tables, come and go all the time . Overall, food is good , ambiance very "chinese style" . I dont expect anything here. 8/10 Highly recommend
google avatar

Bridget O.

Yelp
These soup dumplings are delicious! I order the chicken, pork, and beef dumplings and they have always hit the spot! It's fun watching them make the dumplings. The service is pretty impersonal, but I have never had a problem with it. The place is really small, so depending on how busy they are, be prepared to have to share a table or an area with other people dining in.

Yelp
Soup Dumplings STL made my day today.! It was an amazing visit. I honestly don't think my words can do it Justice. The food was just exquisite.. My friends and I had the pork soup dumplings, shrimp and cheese soup dumplings, the braised pork and rice dish, and the initial soup broth that was served. I also had the freshly squeezed orange juice, which was ah-maze-ing! Everything was So. So. Good. All the dumplings were absolutely delicious. The dough was tender, and each dumpling had a lot of filling along with the savory, wonderful broth. The braised pork with rice was divine. I know I sat there with eyes closed, humming while I ate. The pork belly was tender and so flavorful. I didn't want to share it with my friends! LOL So I just have to go back again and get my own order! The service was delightful - the lovely lady behind the counter took our order brought out our dishes, and checked on us while eating. I loved that I could see the staff making the dumplings right behind the counter where you ordered. I was fascinated to watch them roll the homemade dough, fill and form the dumplings, and see them cooking your food. It made me feel like I was in their home, watching them in their own kitchen -- and the food tasted like it was made from a long loved family recipe. There is lots of parking, which is good, because there was a steady stream of people coming in. There was ample seating while we were there. Although I imagine they sometimes get busy and seating might get limited with their cozy dining area. I'm so glad this wonderful eatery is close to my office! I will definitely be back and bringing friends. Yum!!

Yelp
I've never reviewed a place twice, but the food here is so consistently fantastic. I've been in a few times since my last review. I swung in for some dumplings this past Monday afternoon, which was particularly nice as it wasn't as crowded as usual. My dumplings were so hot and fresh. I love that I can use the chili on the table to my own taste - my lips burning are truly part of the experience. Already scheming on when I can visit next.

Yelp
I love this place. Vibe. But I wish for more totally vegetarian choices and there arent really any. So, please i know how successful you are but some tofu and vegs please. even bean.
google avatar

Quyen H.

Yelp
Soup dumpling is one of my comfort foods : ) I liked to go here as soon as they opened to avoid crowds. I got my usual order today - pork and crab and also tried the shrimp and cheese for the first time. For some reason, I was hesitated to get the shrimp and cheese dumpling for quite some time, but turned out it tasted pretty good. The pork and crab was flavorful as usual. It's also very nice that they served a complimentary small bowl of soup.
google avatar

Norenz D.

Yelp
This is by far the best soup dumplings I've ever tasted and my husband agrees! We we're only in St Louis for 4 days and we came back here 2 consecutive days just to have a taste of the wonderful soup dumplings again. Service is great they even provide free soups and it was pretty tasty. It's kind of hard to figure out what to do if it's your first time because they don't really speak english that well (which indicates they're legit ) but all you needed to do is order at the cashier and sit wherever you like and food will be served eventually. Place have a great natural lightings but it's really not that big.

Nicole E.

Yelp
Tried two different types of dumpling and the cucumber salad. Everything was great. Quick service. Helpful friendly staff.

Yelp
First time at Soup Dumplings in University City after hearing great things about it over the last couple years. I got the chicken dumplings which were really good. I like how they give you a complimentary soup as you wait for your order. The space is quaint but welcoming. It's very popular and the service is quick.
google avatar

Colton F.

Yelp
If you enjoy dumplings then this is the place to go. Dumplings were tasty and fresh! Great place for a casual dinner or lunch! My party got 4 different types and each as delectable as the next! The place is pretty small so keep in mind if coming with a large party. You seat yourself so it can be difficult to get a table during rush hour. The service was insanely fast considering it was only one person serving and taking orders so kudos to the staff. There is a parking lot, and parking was not much of a problem.
google avatar

Natalie M.

Yelp
So so good!! The people were so sweet and the food was delicious, a meal that makes you feel incredibly happy afterwards. Thank you for the hospitality! Will definitely be back next time we visit St. Louis

Yelp
First time visiting Soup Dumplings STL. I came in around 5:30pm and there was 5-6 people in front of me. There's only a few tables so if you come in big group or the place is crowded, there might be hard to find a table. It's very bright and cozy inside the restaurant. I wanted to try the wonton soup but they were out. I ordered the Pork and the Beef soup dumplings. Each comes in 6. I also ordered the braised pork and rice. The soup dumplings were very very delicious. Make sure you use a bit of vinegar so it will be less salty. The braised pork was very disappointing given the price of it. There was only 5 piece of pork and the rice wasn't the best. Next time I'll probably stick to the soup dumplings and wonton soup.
google avatar

Bonnie L.

Yelp
Great XLBs!!! So flavorful. There's parking lots around the area, but it can get crowded. There are about 7 tables so get there early or be prepared to wait. Go up to the counter and order, soda machine on the left. They bring your order to your table. They start you with chicken broth. Strong chicken flavor with a small amount of egg and seaweed. The dumplings come steaming hot! All were delicious so pick your favorite protein. For my taste, it was chicken, then pork, then beef. The cucumbers were tasty and refreshing. I will return for the other options plus more XLBs!!! Recommend!

Yelp
Nice small spot in Olive that serves traditional Taiwanese soup dumplings (xiao long baos). If you've never had soup dumplings before, they aren't just dumplings in soup but rather dumpling skins deliciously magically filled with broth inside! (Prepared as a sort of gelatin then when heated liquifies). Here, the service is quick and the dumplings are tasty. There are instructions on the wall how to eat them--pick up with chopsticks and carry over a spoon, dip in vinegar sauce if you'd like. Once you bite into the dumpling skin, the warm soup broth pours out. They come in circular steamers. The price is 6 soup dumplings for $9. You order at the counter then sit down at any table. I would recommend the pork flavor if you do not have dietary restrictions as this is the traditional option. The skins are a bit thicker but nice and chewy. A solid option while daydreaming about the xiao long baos from Ding Tai Fung in Taipei. 4/5 as I've been spoiled by the ones from Taiwan!

Yelp
The absolute best soup dumplings in stl! I the soup dumplings are sublime and superior to any others I've had in stl (or anywhere else really!). The service is always efficient and welcoming as well! The restaurant has a great ambiance that's cozy and quaint! I love coming here for a date night or with friends! Our personal favorite are the crab and pork dumplings! I'm already looking forward to my next visit back!

Yelp
Follow me here: It was -2 on the Friday before my engagement party, my fiancé was close by getting her hair and makeup done. I'm cold. I'm Jewish. I don't belong in this weather. Immediately i type in "soup" to Yelp and this store appears. I show up at 10:58. They open at 11 Thank you Yelp gods. I am forever in debt to you. What a gem. Got the cucumber salad, crab& shrimp wonton soup, beef dumplings and two orders of dumplings to go. Incredible. A religious experience. Must go

Yelp
Tried all of the dumplings. Pork was my favorite, but all were yummy. If I make it back to STL, I'll be coming back here!

Yelp
We stopped by Soup Dumplings STL for a late lunch this weekend and we were so glad we did. Although it was mid-afternoon, they were still pretty busy. We put our order in and our food came out pretty quickly. We love that you can see a whole team in the kitchen making the soup dumplings fresh to order. Although the interior is small, it's cute and they can comfortably sit 30 inside. Vinegar, soy, and chili oil were out on every table to enjoy with your soup dumplings. We'll be back soon!

Grace T.

Yelp
Loved the soup dumplings! The original pork dumplings are the best. Service is quick. Try to avoid normal dinner hours as the shop fills up quick and the wait can be long

Yelp
So TikTok had a review of this place. So of course it's something I've never done. So I decided to be adventurous and try out this place. Upon arrival you immediately see the cooks creating the magnificent dumplings! And omg are they good I got pork and beef! They are flavored so well! I can definitely see myself coming back for more! I will try the rice next time! I hate that i didn't get the sauce! But i will for sure next time around!
