Somi M.
Yelp
YUP. I'm a dumpling fanatic. Ordered the pork dumplings (total with tax was $9.90). Comes with 6 dumplings and soup on the side! I think the soup had egg strips and was miso-based. I'm unsure, but it was great. Comes with the 3 usual sauces on the side -- soy sauce, chili oil, and vinegar of sorts. Also tried the beef and the chicken, which are great! You can't mix and match dumplings; it's just 6 per order. I think the colors on the sides of the bamboo steamers indicate which meat you got. And, I like the limited menu. My indecisiveness didn't come into play!
Now, here's the downside. The amount of space. If you're going to come here to eat, you better get here early. DO NOT GO at 1 PM on a Saturday! The line in the pictures below clearly shows why. Just go right before the usual lunch rush or dinner rush. If you go 30 minutes before they close, they won't let you order! You kind of have to fight for a table, so as soon as you get in there, start scouting for a spot. If only 2 people are sitting at a 6 person table, just ask them if you can squeeze in there. They'll say yes! Everyone is nice in here and understands that space is limited. The service is slow, which MAKES SENSE because these are handmade dumplings. You can see the chefs making them right behind the counter! And, because there are only about a total of 4 people working there and they have to spread out between cleaning the tables, serving the food, and making the food, you'll be waiting a bit. But you can tell they're working hard to get the orders out.
It's worth it. It gives a sort of hole-in-the-wall, mom-and-pop vibe. Just prep yourself to get there early and wait for a bit. Many people went next door to get boba and took it inside this restaurant to eat with their dumplings! Great idea. I'd come back!
