Souplantation Dupe Soup ‘n Fresh Just Opened a New Location in Chino Hills | Eater LA

"Opened its second location in Chino Hills on February 14, following a first location that opened on February 28, 2024 in Rancho Cucamonga in a building that used to house a Souplantation. Although not exactly Souplantation, those looking for a dose of nostalgia and a self-serve salad bar will not leave disappointed. A few noticeable changes were made between the original and this iteration: "Wonton Happiness" is now called "Asian chicken salad," while "U.S. Senate Bean with smoked ham soup" goes simply by "chili." The rest of the offerings line up pretty closely with fresh brownie muffins, rectangular-sliced pizza, a loaded baked potato bar, and the classic frozen yogurt machine." - Rebecca Roland

If you’re missing Soup Plantation this is the place for you! 1. There was a line/queue but it was so well run, nice to know you don’t have walk around with your food searching for a seat. 2. Senior discount (55+) will save you a couple of dollars. Thank you! 3. Great selection of salads & soups, chili, baked potatoes with all the fixings, pizza & a dessert bar. 4. Manager & staff were helpful & friendly. 5. Not sure if it’s all the time but there was a 2 hour time limit…never felt rushed & it was not a problem. Well done Soup & Fresh! I cannot wait to get back to this place.

This place is similar to souplantation. Service is good and the atmosphere is nice and chill. The salad bar is excellent and fresh. Prices are pretty good for a good quality salad, soup, pasta and pastry. Chicken Noodle Soup, Mushroom Chicken Soup, Clam Chowder, Alfredo, and pizza is my favorite so far. I recommend people to come over to try on weekdays because it may be crowded on the weekends.

New restaurant for the fans of the old Souplantation !!! First time trying this location in Chino Hills. This place was clean and busy. Food looked great. Ceasar salad was just okay my build salad was great with the house made ranch. I enjoyed the Chile, but the Chicken tortilla soup not so much. The baked potato bar was good but potato was pretty small. The cheese bread, garlic cheese bread, corn bread, chocolate and blueberry muffin were all good. There is a soft serve station and a good variety of drinks. I love a good salad and they didn't disappoint, but I'm more of a Carnivore so not some place I would frequent that often.

Went around 2pm. The food was okay but I don't think I'd wait in line for 1.5 hr again. The salads did not look that fresh. Good variety in salad options and soups. Wish there was more variety in breads and pizzas. The staff are friendly. The ice cream machine 👍

Soup 'n Fresh brings back the nostalgia of Souplantation. This restaurant takes a refreshed spin in embracing the concept of Souplantation and making it available again. This is their second location from their Rancho Cucamonga start and is located at a former Souplantation location with lots of parking. There was a wait when we went on a Friday night of about 45 mins. Upon entering, the welcome odors of salads, soups, baked items are abundantly available for a dinner price $19.99 currently. Much of the food is as I remembered it including the chicken noodle soup. The wonton salad was a bit overdressed but it might have been because we were nearing the end of the night. The baked goods were great but I missed the blueberry muffins that had the muffin top shape with the edges.

So glad we have a "Souplantation" comeback. Soup 'n Fresh uses the same location as Souplantation and the utensils and everything. I tried going to the Rancho Cucamonga location twice, but ended up giving up due to the long wait on weekends. I went to this Chino Hills location on a Tuesday and there was no wait. I forgot to grab a tray and went straight for the plate. It's been too long and I forgot the tray. Salad and soup selections were similar to Souplantation and they had a few different desserts. They even had the plain spiral pasta and penne pasta along the salad bar. By the bakery section there was also some macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and Alfredo penne. The macaroni and cheese sauce was a bit dry. Could use more cheese sauce. Chicken noodle and clam chowder were nice. The flavors were slightly different than the Souplantation original recipe. In the bakery section there were muffins and cornbread. The blueberry muffins looked depressing and they were dry. I hope they make better ones. Haven't tried the baked potato, but will next time and they have the little paper sauce cups with butter or margarine too! Didn't check if they had the sweet maple/honey butter though. That was good when Souplantation had it. Selection of drinks and soft serve ice cream machine available. Didn't try those yet. Some waitresses looked like they dreaded work and looked annoyed, but the others were ok. Overall if you miss Souplantation, definitely give Soup 'n Fresh a try. They should open in Arcadia next! The old Souplantation location on Huntington Dr. is still there.

First, the reason for the 1 star. Visited a little after 4pm because we eat dinner early and the lines are long. No line today so we got in faster than I thought. Receipt said 4:11. We were told there is a 2 hour limit. We got our first course. I got a big plate of salad and picked my way through it intending to get some of the more fun things after some veggies. Husband plowed through all 3 courses. I finally finished and went to get some soup. I'm disabled so I sent husband back with my soup and a little pasta. We were gone no more than 3 minutes before he went back and I stopped to get one more bowl for a little mushroom soup. I get back and everything is gone, except the glasses. Table has been wiped down, reset and the card, which I had made sure to leave in a conspicuous place away from the salt and pepper, was back in it's place. They also threw away our receipt with the time written on it so no proof of when we came or how long we could stay. I only had healthy stuff at this point we were there less than half an hour. I was deeply uncomfortable staying at that point or getting up to get more food with my husband's help, especially with no proof that we even paid, so we left. I asked to speak to the manager and explained and said I don't understand how that happens or what more I can do besides leave the card out that says we will be back in a crunch. He just kind of looked at me blankly and explained what he thought might have happened. I appreciate the effort but I can guesstimate all on my own. Help me understand why it's safe to come back here and that coming back again won't mean throwing $50 out the window. Tell me it is a training issue and you'll remind staff to check for cards before assuming they're gone. Literally give me any reassurance at all that I can have an enjoyable and healthy dinner. Nope. Didn't happen. I might try another location, because like a lot of folks I have a deep nostalgia for Soup Plantation/Sweet Tomatoes and was so excited to get there at a time that as a disabled person I could actually get in. We've gone by 5 times before to be faced with what for me are insurmountable lines. As for comparisons to the now defunct chains, it all looks and feels very familiar but is a poor imitation. There are familiar things like the wonton salad or the tuna tarragon, the latter I've seen at other buffets so I'm guessing it's Sysco or something like it. It tastes the same. But the plain pasta tasted strangely chemically. How? It tasted maybe like badly abused Teflon pots or something? I'm so confused how plain pasta tastes like chemicals. The carrot pineapple salad was bitter. Again, how? There aren't as many protein options as the old chains used to have, so your only option is to load up on beans and cheeses and whatever eggs are left. They have Bleu cheese by the dressings but literally just put a tablespoon in an otherwise spotless and mostly empty tray? The tapioca is the same. The arroz con leche is somehow super watery. The strawberry yogurt tasted terrible. The jello was exactly what it's supposed to be. Again, nostalgic. Thankfully I only get a bite of each of those so I didn't feel like I missed out. The garlic bread is great but I got one piece and it was gone when I wanted some with my soup. Some of the reviews say the pastas aren't good but I think that's overly harsh. I had taken a bite of my husband's to see if I wanted my own and I think the Alfredo and mac and cheese are better than any other buffet I've ever had. Did not get to try the potato or dessert I was looking forward to because of the aforementioned issue so I can't speak to those but I can't imagine you can mess those up. Husband said the soft serve was good, he got 2 servings so it must have been. I would have liked to have tried it myself. So if you haven't been here and have been wanting to try it, I am not sure I'd recommend it. Might be worth seeing if there is a location with better reviews and try that. *photos of reset table, minus card I had placed again in a prominent location.

2nd timer here #SundaysSoup 3.16.25 1st timer came w Tristan and his JV varsity tennis team on Monday 3.10.25 Both for dinner. Loved it so much, we’re here a 2nd time within a week. During my 1st visit. Had a really great experience. We were a party of 13, 3 adults, 10 boys. The wait was about 20 mins long. We got separated into 3 tables, seated next to each other. The salads were fresh along with all of the vegetables. My fav soup is the pozole. They had big chunks of pork bones. Really authentic pozole. Loved it so much. I had 3 refills. The blueberry muffins were absolutely delicious and served warm. Love it with the honey whip butter. So bummed they don’t sell the soups to go like the old soup plantation did. Pozole, clam chowder, blueberry muffin, Chinese chicken salad & i made my own salad Pretty big and spacious restaurant. Located across from Lucille’s Bbq same plaza as Hobby Lobby in the Chino Commons. Lots of parking available. Tip ~ 10% off with valid student ID. Really nostalgic like Soup plantation. Including all the known salads, soups and how the plates, bowls are. Definitely worth the wait!

Yelp
A blast to the glorious past of what was Souplantation. Short answer: Yes, it's pretty good. No, it's not exactly how you probably remember it. Long answer: From the food offerings to the dinnerware and orientation of the store, everything screams Souplantation-inspired. I don't think there was anything major from the OG chain that wasn't offered here (save for the godly lava cake, but even back then it was a surprise treat!). Maybe it's me romanticizing the past, but things understandably didn't taste exactly how I remembered it. We found ourselves saying "It's pretty good, but I think it used to taste even better back then." Definitely stop by if you're missing Souplantation a little extra! The line here can get prettyyyy crazy. We stopped by for lunch on a weekday afternoon and still waited around 15-20 minutes. Be prepared and plan if you want to avoid the wait!

Yelp
I was waiting for the hype to die down before going to this location. I already tried the rancho location a couple of times and was excited a new location opened up. Interior wise, the chino location looks more modern but it's a bit smaller than Rancho. Food taste about the same as their other location. There's nothing to dislike, it's make your own salads, there's soups, flat breads, baked potatoes and pastas. It's all the foods that I like to eat. I really do like how the salad selection is really fresh. There is always a server cleaning up the tables and dishes. I'm just hoping if there is a 3rd location, it would be closer to the SGV because I really like eating here.

Yelp
For all Souplantation fans, this place does not disappoint!! It's pretty much an exact copy with little changes here and there. I arrived Sunday at 5:30 pm and waited for a little over 45 minutes. There is a tent to wait under outside and the staff moves the line efficiently. You can get some ice water outside while waiting. The inside of the restaurant is clean and well-lit. Food is quickly refilled and the salad bar is pretty fresh. The servers are all super nice. The only downside was that the ice cream machine was broken. Otherwise, the food is just as amazing as I remembered and the prices are great too! Praying that Soup n Fresh will expand west towards SGV. We're all waiting for you here!

Yelp
Everything you've heard about Soup 'n Fresh being the reincarnation of Souplantarion is true (and I finally go to experience it). For the Chino Hills location, there will be a wait to get in and since it's hot now in Chino Hills, Soup 'n Fresh had pop-up tents outside to help create shade but be prepared as you may not be under the tent the whole time so bring a umbrella or get ready to sweat. The lines seems to move alright and I suspect there are around 90 minute waves that happen starting from 10:30 when they first open. General rule of thumb is that parties of 2 to 4 have best chance of getting seated. 5+ means longer wait times unless you are okay to break up the party. Getting the tables cleaned for the next party seems to be the slowest part of turning tables. Will be back again. But, I think Soup 'n Fresh seriously needs to rent the old Souplantation spot in the Puente Hills Mall (where they shot Back To The Future) as it's been vacant for years. Time for location #3. Check out my pics

Yelp
Finally got to try this place yesterday! Came on a Thursday afternoon around 3pm and was surprised to see no line to get in or down the food line so awesomeness. Staff welcomed us in and were very friendly and attentive during the whole visit. Everything was super organized and well kept, and I noticed they kept all the stations clean every time someone used something. The food itself was very fresh and delicious, and it was nice to have a soup and salad buffet again. Overall, it was an amazing visit and I wouldn't mind a return if I'm in the area again.

Yelp
Really fantastic restaurant. I remember the good days of Souplantation and this place seemed to take a page from right out of their playbook. It really felt like a blast from the past. Some of the dishes(mac and cheese, clam chowder, chili) tasted a bit different, but other than those everything tasted just like how it did those many years ago. I would highly recommend getting some of the garlic cheese bread and pairing it with the alfredo. I would also recommend getting a baked potato. The service is great and the people who work there are very kind. When you go in, you make your salad/cold foods plate and then u pay then they seat you. Overall, everything is bright and clean. The bathrooms are nice and pretty okay. The prices are really great too and I would recommend that everyone goes! The line might seem long, but it really goes by quickly./

Yelp
Lunch Prices $17.99. Senior Discount $15.99. A trip down Nostalgia Lane is what I would describe Soup 'n Fresh. Soup 'n Fresh is a AYCE salad, pasta, soup, and bread. My favorite is the Chicken Noodle Soup. The bacon bits can be garnished on anything. Super glad I came to visit this new location.

Yelp
After a really great workout this morning I wanted to grab a healthy lunch. I decided on Soup 'n fresh. I'm pretty sure this was previously known as Soup plantation which I loved!!! it has the same set up and food options. It's buffet style, so you're able to customize your salad and pick the food that you want. I personally was mainly here for the salad bar! Everything was EXTREMELY FRESH, veggies were delicious! I loaded my salad up! On the other side they have soups, pastries, baked potatoes and pastas. So you can very easily have a full course meal. I'm very happy with this place and whenever I'm craving a fresh meal this is where I'll be. Let's talk about the interior- it was very clean and organized. Nice size, open seating. They have staff walking by to pick up your plates when you're done and clean up. Safe to say I give this place a 10 out of 10 and will certainly be back soon!

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place. I am so glad one opened in this location. I arrived 30 minutes after the opening time. The line was already somewhat long. The line got even longer afterwards. Be ready to wait because the line does take a while. Nice concept. You get a plate, grab your salad and dressing, order your drinks and pay. They then seat you. Afterwards, you just go back to the salad bar, hot bar, soup bar, and drink area as many times as you want. They had about 5 or 6 soups, square pizzas, pasta, mac & cheese, build your baked potato/sweet potato and some sweets. Place was just a bit cramped. I constantly had to stand aside trying not to get bumped by others/staffs. Service was ok. Once in a while someone will come by to grab the empty plates & bowls. Overall, I do like this place. Probably recommend to go weekdays or right when it opens on the weekends. Huge parking lot

Yelp
Host is completely lost at the time we went. She seemed super confused and did not manage well. Their wait/line system does not feel smooth at all but at least they set up tents outside for people to wait in line under. Besides the issues with getting in line, everything else went fine. We waited around 30 mins for lunch on a weekday. Price is fair. I believe Souplantation was cheaper. Food options are same as Souplantation but I think Soup n Fresh tastes better. Their mac and cheese is so good. So cheesy and creamy. Love it.

Yelp
~$21 per person, what an amazing experience! We drove up here from Orange County and it was such a good idea. We came on a Wednesday around 7:50 PM, they close at 8:30. At least that's the last time someone can come in. There was no line, and it was not too crowded. Food: delicious. No notes. Everything felt just as it was when I came to super plantation as a kid and everything was still hot and fresh even coming towards the end of the night. Ambiance: I kinda like how the area is smaller, all the food is closer to one another, though I can expect this to be probably busier when there's a lot of people. They they consistently took away my old plates and make sure the tables were clean. It was a really really fast and respectful busboy!

Yelp
A good location that definitely hits the nostalgia factor for those who used to go to Souplantation. It's a good place to get a good meal for a decent price. There aren't too many options protein wise, but the food is still very good. They open at 10:30am and by the time we arrived at 10:40am, there was already a pretty substantial line. We ended up waiting for about an hour outside. They do have some shade coverage with tents outside for the line, but their tents do not cover the entirety of the line. I would recommend bringing something to protect yourself from the sun if you're not arriving prior to their opening time. There was a person who went through the line and asked parties of 6 or more if they would be willing to be split up in order to be seated faster since the majority of tables were only big enough for 4. Once they let you inside, you grab a tray and plate then make your way down the salad bar. They have pretty much all of the same salads that Souplantation had and all the ingredients appeared to be very fresh. Their homemade ranch dressing is still one of the best things that they have. You pay at the register at the end of the salad bar and someone comes to guide you to your seat. It's a little bit chaotic because there are so many people in there once, but the staff does a good job of keeping all the tables in order and they come by to clear dishes very often. The food is pretty much on par with what it used to be. The strawberry lemonade is just as good as it used to be. The salads were lightly dressed and still had a good crisp to them. The soups were decent. The chili was very tomato heavy and the clam chowder was on the thinner side. The pastas had good flavor, but the spaghetti was overcooked to the point that it was almost mushy. The blueberry muffins were excellent, but the cornbread tasted like the batter was over mixed. It was very dense and dry, but had good flavor. The focaccia and pizza breads were nice and cheesy. One of the most exciting parts is the dessert. The toughest decision is whether to make a sundae with the chocolate muffin, a soda float, or an ice cream cone. I was very full by the end so I opted for a cone. They offered both vanilla and vanilla/chocolate swirl as options. The swirl, however, came out as all vanilla so it was a little bit disappointing. My side observation is that when you pay, they give you one of two different colored cups depending on if you want just water versus pay for all of the other refillable soft drinks. While the price for soft drinks isn't that much, there were still a lot of people putting soft drinks in the water cups which was disappointing to see. It was still an overall great experience and I would just want to arrive earlier next time.

Yelp
Love the Chino Hills location! The lines range from 30-45 minutes but they put out tents outside for shade coverage. The food was delicious as always. They added a new Korean braised soup that was super yummy! They had glass noodles and actual meat with bone (so much flavor) Service was amazing! They always clean up everyone's table to make sure it's not cluttered with empty soup bowls and plates. Sometimes I wish the ice cream station was neater, and the layout of the restaurant (like having seasonings and sauces next to the salad bar) makes movement of people awkward, but I still had a great overall time! Bonus: They have student and senior discount at 10%!!

Yelp
Came by to try the Chino Hills location, since I have already been to the one in Rancho and this one's much closer. We got there around 6:30 PM on a Monday night so it wasn't that crowded and we only waited about 10 to 15 minutes. Once shown inside we were able to get our trays and get our first plates of salad. We then paid and then were shown to a table. Overall, this location is a little bit larger I think, however, the tables are a lot more close together, so it felt a little more crowded when he got busy. The spacing was a bit difficult for older grandparents to navigate. As for the food, there was the salad station, of course. There was also a soup, pizza, dessert, and other pastries section. If you got drinks, you could self serve. Overall cleanliness was 4/5, staff was 4/5 since they were busy and not always attentive, but they were nice, and food was 4/5. While the other food was pretty tasty, and being constantly refilled, there was a point when the soup (clam chowder) was refilled but completely cold so that was a bit unfortunate. The ice cream was super good though and had a clean station. Overall, I would come back in the future. Maybe not the best location for super large groups (~6 max for comfortability). As for parking, there's plenty outside.

Yelp
Soup n Fresh, Chino Hills, CA Such a nostalgic spot! While many people are reminded of that other buffet chain from back in the day, Soup n Fresh brings me back to my UCLA days -- unlimited fresh salads, soups, pasta, and baked treats just like this. Now it's my toddler's turn. She absolutely loves it here -- warm soup, mac & cheese, healthy sides, and a little sweet treat to end the meal. I especially enjoy the bakery items -- super fresh, not too sweet, and that chicken noodle soup? So comforting, with real chunks of chicken and noodles. We live nearby, so I can definitely see this becoming our regular go-to. A feel-good spot for both adults and little ones.

Yelp
If you miss the glory days of Souplantation because it brought back warm memories of large family reunions, Soup 'n Fresh more than resurrected the demised business. Not only did they bring back the same service model and fresh salad, they even use the same plates and bowls from the OG Souplantation for a wrap-around authentic experience. Everything was how I remembered it, and the interior is modernized. The furniture was newer and cleaner, and they do a better job at crowd control than the old Souplantation. The downside of that was there's always going to be a long line outside. Apparently I wasn't the only one feeling nostalgic. My tip to you: arrive early with the entire party, and you can catch up on conversation with family or friends even before getting inside.
google avatar

Tim E.

Yelp
The wait outside was approximately 45 minutes in the blistering heat. They do have tent covering when you get closer to the front but bring your hat or umbrella to shield yourself from the heat leading up to the front. If you liked soup plantation once upon a time then this is a replacement. Everything was fresh and that chicken noodle soup that I loved was reincarnated here at soup n fresh. It's a self serve dining experience and you get 90 minutes to enjoy all the repeats you can devour in that time frame. If you're a senior you get a slightly discount but prices are more now from the soup plantation days. You get ample parking with even shade if you can find it.

Yelp
Must come on a weekday when it's less busy!! The line is practically like Disneyland on the weekends but it is worth the wait to relive the nostalgia of souplantation inside. Caesar salad is my fave; it's really close to the souplantation one in terms of flavor. I don't like regular Caesar salad but they do a more lemon-y refreshing type of dressing that's thinner than regular Caesar dressing, and it's just absolutely addicting. They also have some seasonal rotations including the strawberry walnut and blue cheese salad and this was amazing!! Also refreshing and love the combo toppings for summer. Soups are all just what you'd expect. Chili, chicken noodle, cream of mushroom..really can't go wrong with any. Chicken noodles' noodles are thinner than souplantation but I kinda like it being less cakey actually. Chicken tortilla was so flavorful. I added cilantro from the toppings bar and I loved the lime cilantro flavor profile and thought the cubed chicken was more juicy than the thicker one in the noodle soup. Also love the pudding desserts and of course the non dairy soft serve.

Yelp
I was so excited to finally try Soup 'n Fresh especially because I loved Souplantation. It was almost identical of what I remembered Souplantation to be. I was so excited to eat my asian salad, blueberry muffin, and pizza. The food was decent but I felt like I was mostly there for the memories. The line was really long so I would recommend going at an off time. I took off one star because it was so muggy and hot inside. There were so many people but I don't understand why they couldn't put up the AC. It was really uncomfortable to eat while being hot inside.

Yelp
We decided to check out Soup 'n Fresh's second location in Chino Hills, and went for lunch at 1PM on a Wednesday. The wait was only about 15-20 minutes for a party of 3, so not that bad. The interior is clean but noticeably smaller and more compact than the Rancho Cucamonga location. Prices are fair, $17.99/adult for lunch, and they still have senior and healthcare worker discounts (have to show a badge for healthcare worker). We actually had an employee introduce himself at our table and he was the one who regularly came to clear plates; as a result, we left a few dollars tip in cash on the table when we left. The food was tasty as expected. A few of the salads had become a little wilted from sitting a while, but taste was fine. I loved all of the soups, and the pastas were fine. The breads could have been kept a little hotter in my opinion, but I like my breads very hot. I was also heartbroken at first thinking there were no blueberry muffins, but in fact the muffins were just not labeled and could be found next to the cornbread. Drinks (for an extra cost to get the unlimited drink cup) and desserts/fruit were fine. Overall, we left stuffed and reminisced the days of Souplantation. I think I slightly prefer the Rancho Cucamonga location but the Chino Hills location is definitely closer to my home.

Yelp
Officially my favorite restaurant. Souplantation (aka Sweet Tomatoes outside of California) was my favorite restaurant, the fresh buffet was as tasty as it was convenient: a self-service restaurant with no waits for a table, no checks to split, no delays in drink refills. Though the pandemic took all but one away (Tuscon), Soup N Fresh diligently copied the model, menu, plastic ware, and recipes, creating what I call Dupe-Plantation in Rancho Cucamonga. (See separate review). Though that location is twice the size, and has the familiar zig zag salad bars, this location is a little more convenient, so I'll be ripe back.

Yelp
My family loved souplantation so when we heard about this place, couldn't wait to Hector out. I'd say it was a 95% homage to the original. I actually liked the flow and service at this new rendition - Soups were almost identical including the famous chicken noodle with a couple of new ones like Korean beef broth. Salads included the broccoli one along with all the familiar ones. And yes, the cheese bread, focaccia, and sundae bar are there. It fills a pre-Covid void!

Yelp
I enjoy buffets because you can try a lot of different things. Some that I liked were the mac and cheese, creamy alfredo pasta, blueberry muffins, rice pudding, and ice cream. Some that were not as good were the tortilla soup, and spaghetti. We were seated right away because we had only two people and didn't come at the busiest time. But while we were eating a line did form outside. You're given a 2 hour time limit.

Yelp
I remembered having Souplantation so often when I was younger, so I got to finally try Soup n Fresh! It's very much like a nostalgic trip, but a lot more modern. The interior here were all really nice and clean, very sleek. We came on a Monday evening for dinner time, and there was a line outside. This place is absolutely kid friendly, especially that they have seats for large parties as well. It's the same procedure as Souplantation, grab your plate and go crazy at the salad bar. Get some soup, pastries, flatbread, fruits, and more. For dinner price it came about to be $20 per person, which honestly I thought it was pretty high since the last time I remembered going for dinner? but let's see if it's worth first. The salad bar ingredients were quite fresh. Everything was very clean and organized. Love the variety of ingredients they have to offer! The soups and pastries were all very well organized as well. Trying the salad first, it's pretty standard, nothing too spectacular. So it was just salad. I got the clam chowder next and I actually really liked the soup a lot here. It was pretty rich and hearty to have! I also tried the baked potato here which was pretty nice as well. I did really enjoy their version of the Joan's broccoli, that actually still tasted the same! I tried their pizza flatbread and this one was really odd to me. The marinara on the flatbread was very offputting to me, which I didn't really get to enjoy that much. I also tried the mac and cheese, and alfredo pasta here. Mac and cheese was.... like you can make at home, nothing special. Tasted like it needed more cheese. The alfredo pasta was okay, also nothing that special. I had their tuna pasta by the salad bar and that was actually quite pleasant. The flatbread was also really filling, I didn't really get the chance to try other things cause it made me so full haha. Lastly, I tried the chocolate brownie... which was also just okay. It was very chocolate-y and sweet, but it tasted like something you can make at home from a kit. I wish they had an actual dessert section like the gooey brownie that they had at Souplantation. Their ice cream machine was also down, so that was pretty disappointing. The other dessert section was fruits and some fruit salad or yogurt. Overall, I'm not sure if it's just that everything tasted better when you were younger, but everything here was just okay. Nothing spectacular, and the quality overall tastes like you can just make all these things at home. It is a great place for families where they can bring their kids and pick out whatever they want, which they generally do offer "healthier" options compared to other buffets. Also less task for families. Although, if you're coming here for quality, I would reconsider haha. For example, I for sure had a nicer and richer mac and cheese elsewhere like from Wood Ranch. I also wouldn't come here at dinner price next time since it doesn't feel that worth. Because that price is basically almost like a KBBQ price elsewhere. Though, it's nice that they brought something like this back again!

Yelp
A 2nd Soup N Fresh opened. First one was in Rancho Cucamonga. There is a line you have to wait outside to get into the restaurant. Make sure you have all parties by the time you reach the front. For us, on Sunday @ 12:15, we reached the front in around 45 min. Bring sunglasses/hat to avoid the sun if the line is out of the shaded areas. Once you go in, there are 2 lines you can go in and you get all the things you like to form your salad. And then you pay and get seated wherever you want. It's all you can eat. You can get more salads that was in the pay line if you want to. There are different muffins, different pastas, different soups, pizza breads, baked potato/sweet potatoes with ingredients for those, and ice cream bar. There are different sodas. There are even fruits and pudding. Basically, if you been to Souplantation, it's exactly the same. FYI: Everything here is cramped. With the seating/tables to the lines to get soups, pasta, bread, etc. Server is very quick to pick up dirty trays. There are 3 stalls inside the restroom. Plenty of free parking spaces.

Yelp
So happy that Soup N Fresh (SNF) opened here, it's a much closer commute than going to Rancho. I brought my kids here and the line is substantially shorter than at the RC location. We arrived around 1:00 pm and there were about 5 parties ahead of us, but a ton of people showed up after we lined up . We waited about 20 min before we got in. It seems that this location is smaller than the other SNF, and the buffet line goes straight instead of zig zags around like Souplantation, which I really like. The lay out is also different than RC, but they offer all the same food, so it's all good. They had tortilla chicken soup when I came, which was super yum. The blueberry muffins were especially good that day! I walked out of there completely satisfied and overstuffed. Too much good food! The gentleman who was cleaning our table was so efficient in picking up our used dishes and silverware. He was so nice and when I asked where the exit was, he even walked us to the exit and opened the door for us when we left. Great customer service! I also saw the manager doing his managerial thing, he was very present and making sure everything was running smoothly. 10% discount for students and educators so bring your ID. I think they also offer discounts for military.

Yelp
Came here after seeing it all over the internet! Personally, I LOVED coming here.... It was a moment of bitter sweet nostalgia, of everyone's childhood favorite SOUPLANTATION!! The thematics of the restaurant is very well branded similar to souplantation -- the salad bar, the hot bar, dessert, and even the way the tables & signs have been designed. However, I must admit quality control of the food and sanitation definitely has room to improve!

Yelp
This place is full of nostalgia and is like a 85% dupe of what Souplantation used to be. Definitely reverse engineered to be like that, from food to pricing to even the plates and bowls. In comparison, some things are the same or better (most of the soups, the Asian wonton salad, pizza breads, soft serve ice cream etc) while some options I did not quite like as much (noodles in chicken soup, not so great muffins and lack of dessert options). Wait times are super long, especially on weekends, so choose your visit times accordingly. Service was accommodating and we appreciated the efforts to clean empty plates often. Definitely worth a visit when in CH area.

Yelp
8/10 - overall meal Does this place taste exactly like soup plantations/sweet tomatoes? No. Does it taste similar enough to scratch the itch? Yes. Things that I think were fairly spot on were the tuna tarragon salad, broccoli salad, and chicken noodle soup. The clam chowder was not as rich as the one at soup plantation and also the crispy noodle salad toppings were much smaller and thinner. Worth going for nostalgia for sure, but not sure id make the drive again from Orange County.

Yelp
Just like the old Soup Plantation! So glad they opened this second location, and hope they open more. Finally had a chance to visit and it brought back a lot of good memories of Soup Plantation. Interior is nicely organized with salads, soups, and hot items. Everything was fresh and tasty. I've been missing the mushroom soup, and theirs is just as good. Servers are friendly and do a great job of clearing the tables of used dishes. I heard there could be a line and waiting. We came early (11:30) on a weekday and we didn't have to wait at all. It did get busy though as the time went by. If you're a Soup Plantation fan, definitely come here.

Yelp
We are so excited that we tried the new Souplantation (our beloved restaurant) called Soup N Fresh that just opened! We waited for about 40 minutes to get in. It was worth the wait and just as delicious as we remembered!!! They first opened the original location in Rancho Cucamonga, and now they have another location in Chino Hills. We didn't want to drive that far to Rancho Cucamonga, so we drove to Chino Hills yesterday. We got there around 5:30 p.m. yesterday. It was easy to find parking, but we saw a line there waiting to get in. It was a bit chilly and drizzling, but glad they had the canopy set up for the queue, so we could stay dry. Adults: Lunch ($17.99/adult) from 10:30 a.m.- 4 p.m., Senior $15.99 (for age 55 above), Dinner ($19.99/adult) from 4 p.m. till close, Senior $17.99 (for age 55 above) Children: ages 4-8 $9.99 (All day), ages 9-12 $11.99 (All day) Beverages: fountain drinks or coffee ($3.79 each) The price was very reasonable. The food was the same as before, and we still like their soup, salad, pasta, and muffins. This place was very spacious inside, and we first grabbed our plates for salad. They had a lot of choices for salad (just like before), but we had to walk back to the entrance to get our bowls and plates for soup and pizzas. I liked that they have cute signs on the table, such as "off for a salad break, back in a crunch!" and "lettuce meet again!" to let the servers know that you are gone for what reasons. The salad was very fresh and delicious. I tried their Cream of Mushroom soup, Clam Chowder, and Chicken Noodle Soup. I liked the Cream of Mushroom soup the most, and then I picked the Clam chowder. The Cream of Mushroom soup was rich in flavor, and I finished it quickly. The Clam Chowder was creamy but the flavor was a bit lack of seasoning. We also tried their pasta, Mac N Cheese, cornbread, muffins, and baked potatoes. (They also have sweet potatoes.) I added the bacon bits, shredded cheese, sour cream, and green onions onto my hot, fresh-baked potato. Cornbread was a bit dry, though. Oh, don't forget to get their soft serve ice cream at the end. I got the combination flavor. It was creamy and not too sweet. I hope that they will open more locations soon. (Hopefully, they open one in Walnut.)

Yelp
I'm from OC and I've been here so many times with different groups because everyone has been so excited to try it. The food, flavor, butter, soup bowls are all just like Souplantation. I describe it as not super flavorful but like a healthy flavor. So don't go expecting five star Mac & cheese (until you add the fresh bacon, extra cheese, & some green onion to it) and the chicken soup is nice and plain (but throw some green onion and black pepper in it and it's amazing). I love creating new things here bc there's so many things you can customize. Some things I think are missing: the souplantation magic- surprise fresh chocolate chip cookies passed around. more homey vibes. It looks like a chipotle inside- metal, gray, no character. Service was ok- they cleared away our dishes a little slow but people were nice.

Yelp
Came in on a Friday and waited about 20 minutes. The girl hosting the line did a good job with greeting. Baylee was a friendly cashier and the rest of the wait staff were attentive at picking up our dirty plates. This place is busy! Compared to the Rancho location it seems bigger here. Breads were fresh, some of the salad lettuces could be stocked better, and soups were hot enough. There is so much seating cramped together with so many people that the restaurant looks clutter-y and the food stations are kind of messy. It's hard to keep up at times so I get it. $16 for lunch and plenty of parking.

Yelp
Service is super attentive and doesn't feel forced. Food was very much the same as the old SP, but some of the salads were over dressed. Soups were better than SP! Blueberry muffins are AMAZING! Very satisfied, and the wait wasn't that bad for a Sunday night (about 20minutes at 730p)

Yelp
This place brings back so many nostalgic feelings for me. I used to eat at Souplantation, maybe 3 to 4 times a month when I was growing up. I was absolutely heartbroken when the chain shut down. When I heard that there was a similar restaurant opening up that resembled a lot of the old food they used to serve at souplantation, I knew I needed to try it immediately. The chain here is a little small smaller than the ones I used to go to. However, the food was almost exactly the same. Even the bowls and plates looked the same! The vegetables were always fresh. The soups were very flavorful and the bread and carbs were great too. The only thing I would say that was missing from before was the sourdough bread and the ice cream topping bar. All in all - I enjoyed my experience very much and I will be back. The cleanup service was amazing.

Yelp
Came here for the nostalgia. Very similar to souplantion. Long lines on the weekend lunch and dinner. Waited about 30 minutes and started off with the salad bar. Paid after the salad bar and we were escorted to our table. The soup, salad, pasta, and flatbreads were all average. The food tasted similar to cafeteria food but brought back memories as a childhood. The baked potato is hot and you can build your own baked potato. Good amount of seating inside. Busy restaurant with lots of foot traffic m.

Yelp
Overall this is definitely a nostalgic and casual spot for those who love Souplantation, but also a reasonably priced buffet with fresh options. The salad bar had a great variety of produce and everything looked fresh. I especially liked the broccoli slaw and the ability to build your own salad with the abundance of ingredients. The standout to me was the honey butter, which paired well with the cornbread and toasted bread. Our finished plates were taken away frequently, and I also saw the workers behind the food regularly checking the temperature of the food, reassuring me that it was all fresh and to standards. They also have a senior discount for those aged 55+, so it's definitely a good place for a casual meal with family.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch with one of my girlfriend. Wait time wasn't too bad since we got here when it just opened up. Food was good, soups were delicious and salads were tasty. I definitely got my Souplantation cravings satisfied. The taste wasn't exactly like Souplantation but it came close! Food were quickly refilled & tables were quickly cleaned. I definitely will be back!

Yelp
It was like I was transported back to the original Souplantation In the early aughts. Where it was crowded but courteous. Everyone knew the drill-- Both patrons and staff were very friendly. The salads were just about the same down to the toppings. I was told the pickles were different but that didn't bother me. The simple yet delightful desserts pastries(blueberry muffins and brownies) hit the spot. They had a fruit salad I don't remember from the og. But upon trying this one, I was shocked to find out it was bionicos! I loved every bite. The soups and breads were amazing and it really brought back great memories with family. What really stood out was the customer service. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. It was a hot day so they brought out water for everyone. They offered the elderly to wait inside. Plates were picked up every few minutes it was like clockwork and done well. In order to get seated make sure your entire party is there before check in. Otherwise you will be skipped. The ambiance was simple. Not like ranch location which was built at a souplantation location but still good and welcoming and busy full of people enjoying their plates sharing stories of their own souplantation visits. Unfortunately when we went we saw a group of customers that were so rude. They belittled the staff because their party was late and they added on people last minute wanted to sit together and not everyone was there. We saw them take a bunch of food not eat it and left full plates. People like that ends up raising prices for everyone else. Pretty much disrespectful in all aspects. The staff cleaned up and continued on preparing for the next guests and handled with grace and kudos to them. Our group tipped them cash and thanked them for handling the situation as well as they could. We acknowledged their hard work. So please tip them when you finish. It takes a lot to handle crowds and to continue to provide the same way as souplantation did --especially today. Would definitely return.

Yelp
Compared to the original restaurant, this one doesn't have any seasonal dish offerings or dessert other than soft serve. The line is very long on weekends (30+ mins) since its opening, but on weekdays is around 10-20 minutes for lunch. Everything else is solid and very nostalgic! The interior is usually pretty crowded, but everything is refilled pretty quickly. You definitely won't leave hungry.

Yelp
Thank god they opened another one of these and AGAIN, I am on my knees begging, crying, and praying that we get more and more to open, more specifically, in the 626. Glad that this location is slightly closer to me though, so appreciative either way. Plenty of parking around in this large plaza. Just know that this location doesn't have an official sign yet, so just look for the tents or the banner. We came here on a weekday for dinner and there was no wait whatsoever and they were able to seat a party of 6 instantly. There are 2 different "lanes" for you to get your salad and I have to say, it's a 1:1 perfect copy of what you nostalgically remember...the broccoli salad, the tuna tarragon, the cornbread, etc. it tastes exactly like you remember it. Even some of their classics taste a bit better than what I remember it to be, such as the chicken noodle soup, clam chowder, and the pizza and garlic bread. Much like the Rancho location, there is more variety of soups than what I remember the old Souplantation had, such as pozole (my favorite), lentil soup, etc. The workers here are super vigilant and friendly and there was never a moment where our plates or bowls stacked up too high. Many times the pasta and soups were refreshed so nothing stayed out too long nor did anything run out either. They know what they're doing here and they do a great job of it. Definitely would come back here again! Praying for more locations in the future.

Yelp
Going back to 4 stars. Maybe 3 but I'm feeling generous. They have a phone in the store but it is not advertise so they lose a star because of that.

Yelp
Came here 30 minutes before opening, but the wait was not as long as the other location. Even on a Saturday, there was pretty much no line for the first 30mins of opening. Parking was easy and this place brought back memories of Souplantation. I wish the salad was more flavorful and fresh. Most of the toppings seemed fine, but the lemon seemed like it's been cut for a long time or has gone bad.

Yelp
Soup n fresh definitely helped with my soup plantation craving! It's a little smaller than SP and didn't have as much variety but it got the job done. It was tasty, filling, and fresh! The service was great, everyone was friendly and helpful, our plates were always cleared out quickly and low food was always replaced quickly. I also really enjoyed how quiet the place was! It was pretty full yet there weren't people talking overly loud or kids yelling, probably the first time in a long time I've experienced that! There's no music playing either but it was a nice change. Happy to have a SP type place, definitely missed it! $17.99 for adults and $15.99 with a senior discount (55+) during the week! Not sure if the price is different on weekends but not bad.

Yelp
Soup 'N Fresh (Chino Hills)'s food impressed me. It's fresh and delish. Similar to Souplantation, the location offers unlimited soup, salad options, and other tasty items (ex: Alfredo pasta, cheese pizza bread, soft-serve ice cream). I had the Adult Lunch Buffet ($17.99 - 10:30AM to 4PM). It's a competitive price; the food is fresh; and its soups are well-cooked with fresh bountiful ingredients. [Available Soups: Clam Chowder, Chicken Tortilla Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Cream of Mushroom, House Chili, and Minestrone.] I arrived on Thursday (around 2:30PM). Shockingly, there was no wait. Customers are expected to fill a salad plate before sliding to the cash register to pay for the buffet. The cash register staff member (Harry) is helpful, professional, and informative. He explained that the buffet has a two hour maximum. Customers can use any open (non-reserved) tables. He also politely, efficiently answered all my questions. Great worker! I immensely enjoyed the food. [Tasty Food Options:] The clam chowder is creamy; it had a welcomed thick consistency. It had big clams and soft potatoes. Although the clam chowder lacked seasoning, each table had a salt and pepper shaker. After several dashes of pepper, I devoured this tasty dish. The cream of mushroom soup is phenomenal! It's a deep, rich mushroom taste. The soup is bountiful in its fresh mushroom slices, and it arrived piping hot and bubbly. Superb soup, chefs! The House Chili is flavorful and well-seasoned! It's tasty and chunky with a lingering soft heat. I enjoyed the fresh ingredients, and I adored how its spice gently bit back. My created salad (baby spinach, crumbled eggs, mushrooms, sprinkled cheese, and thousand island dressing) tasted fresh and filling. It's tasty! The Alfredo Pasta is yummy! The pasta is bouncy and cooked perfectly. I happily enjoyed the sauce's thick, soft cheese flavor. The Mac n' Cheese is also a welcomed meal. It's soft with a gentle cheese flavor. It's a comforting taste. The Cheese Pizza Bread is delicious! When I bit into it, some tangy tomato sauce squirted out. The familiar acidic tomato taste with its cheese created a comforting experience. Yum. The soft-serve ice cream (labeled lactose free) is shockingly tasty! It's chill, creamy, and not too sweet. It's not gloopy ice cream. Rather, the soft-serve tasted very fresh. [Underwhelming Food Options:] The Corn Bread is dry, crisp, and unmemorable. It's barely sweet. And it tasted like badly prepared batter. The Chocolate Chip Muffin is is dry and strangely bland. There's some chocolate sweetness, but the prominent taste is crumbly cardboard. The Soft-Serve Ice Cream's Cone tasted a little stale and old. It's hard like a rock. [Service:] The Staff Member (Bobby) walked around and picked up my empty plates and bowls. Bobby is friendly, helpful, and hardworking. He assisted my table repeatedly, and Bobby expressed a motivated attitude. Soup 'N Fresh (Chino Hills) is well-staffed. I saw many staff members. Unfortunately, I got the vibe/impression that some staff members worked way harder than others. For example, the staff near the salad bar mostly chatted and looked at their iPhones. I observed one lady just sipping her iced coffee and wandering around. I also noticed that the Hostess Staff Member acted extremely unprofessional. The hostess would randomly wander away from her spot; the hostess would yawn repeatedly and rush her greeting to guests; and the hostess would "play around" at an attempt to attract the Salad Bar employees' attention. For example, the Hostess Staff Member would repeatedly fire her hair rubber band across Soup 'N Fresh (Chino Hills). She fired it at the ceiling, and she'd fire it across. Personally, I had a good experience, but it appears that consistency and quality-control is a possible problem if Soup n' Fresh hires employees willing to openly "goof off." [Ambiance] Soup N' Fresh (Chino Hills) is mostly clean and well-ventilated. The location felt cozy, but its staff gave a mixed feeling of indifference, inexperience, or passion. Management needs to better vet their employees. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the food at Soup 'N Fresh (Chino Hills). The soups are phenomenal. The ingredients all tasted fresh. And the location is fairly clean and comfortable with competitive prices. However, the observed immaturity and unprofessionalism of some staff members makes me question the consistency of their quality. I hope staff improves. Regardless, I sincerely recommend. 4.5/5

Yelp
We finally managed to dine here! After nearly half a decade of no souplantation, we managed to get soup n fresh. I will say this, it was eerily similar and nostalgic to dine here. The inside was definitely the same layout as previous souplantations. Service was also very good. To those expecting a carbon copy, it is not quite the same but very close!

Yelp
A remake of Souplantation. Very similar items and taste, some better than the original and others bad. The good: great Pastas, Pizza Bread, Soft serve ice cream was good, few of the soups were better and excellent service. Interior looks much modern and clean. The Bad: Salads were not fresh and wilted, breads, Browne and muffins were dry and stale, barely any fruits, their signage was poorly made and falling down. Overall, worth a try, 2 hour limit stay and location use to be the old Souplantion and no sign on the building yet. Well priced for what you get in today's economy.

Yelp
I've been coming to soup n fresh at least once a month since they opened, usually more. The food is always well prepared with quality ingredients. The service has always been so friendly and attentive. Besides the grand opening where they were blasting really loud dance music inside the restaurant, there's not much to be unhappy with here. There was even a bogo deal that was given out! I went for lunch today and wow, I was blown away by how rude Harry was at the cashier. I don't know if he was having a bad day but he was so unfriendly from the get go. His tone of voice was already so harsh like I killed his dog or something and he made me feel like a nuisance. It didn't help that his directions weren't good when I was trying to redeem the bogo deal. I had to wait for a bit after paying and he was being just as rude to the party that was paying next as well. Even my wife noticed, and she never complains about anything. I'll still be coming back because one person doesn't make a business, but any recommendation to friends and family will be with reservation.
