It's a cute restaurant. They have tall tables facing the window. Would be great to sit there and eat while watching the rain. We got kao soi and pho with chicken broth. Both were delicious. We added shredded chicken and it came with a good amount.

If you’re hungry and not sure where to go near Coolidge Corner, Soup Shack is the spot. They’ve got everything from steaming ramen and rich pho to hearty rice bowls. If soup’s not your thing, the chicken katsu curry rice bowl is a must-try. Service is always friendly, portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. Plus, they’ve got a Cambridge location too.

Google
Great restaurant! I got the Black Tonkotsu Ramen and it was one of the best. The broth was flavorful but not overpowering, and the meat was very tasty

Google
I would always pass by here, but don’t be fooled by the simple name like I was, this place is such a gem! Delicious noodles, extremely flavorful broths, the Thai soups are some of the best I’ve had in Boston. You can’t go wrong with anything here really, worth the wait for a table in this tiny but phenomenal spot, definitely running back here soon!

Google
Great cozy peaceful place. Just a few Vegetarian options (1-2 in each section) but they are really really good and very flavorful. Tried the Yasai Ramen and Fried Tofu Rice bowl.

Came for dinner with my family on a weekday night and it wasn’t too busy. The appetizers were amazing, particularly the Takoyaki and the Charsiu baos. Wasn’t a huge fan of the fried oyster. The ramen selection was great, and so was the Tom yum noodle soup, although the Saigon udon was a bit disappointing. Overall, they have a big selection so would recommend stopping by and trying a few!

Google
Great food— I had the chicken bun and got to try the katsu curry, as well as the limeade and Thai iced tea. All was very tasty, especially the lemongrass chicken. I could have used a liiittle more considering the amount of vermicelli but it was so fresh, filling, and reasonably priced for the area (the drinks being a little more than expected). Food came out quick. Will be visiting frequently!

Google
Fantastic ramen and normal prices for the area (I paid around $17 for the ramen). I got the Black Tonkotsu ramen, I absolutely loved it. All of our meals were great, I would be more than happy to come back. The service was fast, overall a very pleasant experience.

Yelp
I ate there today ! Chicken Katsu Curry ! After I read great reviews here in Yelp about Chicken Katsu Curry and they did not let me down ! Recently I have been checking out of Chicken Katsu Curry options near around the neighborhood, at Gensouen, Isshindo, etc... and this one got on top of my go for Japanese style curry today. Crispy and smooth at same time on Chicken Katsu, deep spicy curry sauce yummy on the white rice along with kyabetsu - no - sengiri (thin shredded Cabbage) was very pleasurable for my late lunch. Sauce itself was remarkably much better than other options near by, very original rich spicyness and I was just digging at my top speed. Portion was really great, too. I was also speaking with very friendly waitress and she said her favorite is Spicy Miso Ramen, so I got to check it out on my next visit. They are in Thai Expressions for other Asian country's favorite meals especially on noodles but I had to try out their curry and I am very glad I did ! Thanks for other reviewers ! Enjoy your visit !

Yelp
Good ramen, but not on par with competition in the area. Went there for a double date and had the tonkotsu ramen. It was good, but not worth the price. For that price you can go to multiple other ramen shops on the same street and have better. Good ingredients but weak flavor. Small but cozy and fun atmosphere! Service was great.

Yelp
I love when you visit a new city and a small local chain jumps out to be above the fold for you. We were craving some pho and this popped up. We had: edamame, gyoza, the spicy beef pho, chicken curry katsu and a chicken veggie bowl. The broth was thick and complex for the pho soup. The chicken katsu soup actually have the crust seasoned for once, which in the USA is quite rare. We were pleasantly surprised by this place.

Yelp
I've been looking forward to this for a long time now. I've read so many reviews praising this restaurant, and so I was delighted to finally visit this afternoon. The service was great, and I was pleased to receive all of my food very quickly. I went basically right when they opened for the afternoon. I thought the tofu was OK, slightly under salted, and I think they could have given me a little bit more sauce. The shoyu ramen was good. The meat was charred, and the broth was pretty decent. They had a generous serving of green onions as well as bamboo and seaweed. I wish there was an egg! I wasn't a huge fan of the ramen noodles. They seemed like pretty standard store purchased noodles. Great service.

Yelp
I've been to this restaurant so many times I've lost count. It is my favorite place to get pho and I always bring my friends here when we are craving pho. They also serve ramen here which I myself have not tried but my friends have liked the ramen here as well. The staff are very kind and I never have to wait long to get a seat. The interior is on the smaller side but there is nice window seating as well as outside tables for the warmer months. My go to order here is the pho Tai and the goi salad.

Yelp
Don't be dissuaded by the non-specific name, but this place is amazing. I typically focus on the Thai dishes and soups in particularly. The flavors are rich and colorful, in ways I haven't found elsewhere in other places. A unique experience. I go at least monthly.
google avatar

Adam R.

Yelp
Don't let the generic name fool you. The food here is quite tasty. I highly recommend the duck noodle soup. Some of the most savory broth I've ever had. The have a good season menu. Today I had the Saigon udon. Chicken was crispy and good seasoning. Came with a tasty soy sauce. The udon noodles were tasty and had a nice bounce to them. Service is always friendly
google avatar

Yelp
The service was so friendly and it is great to have so many options- including vegetarian and pescatarian choices.

Yelp
Soup Shack is a hidden gem. I have ordered takeout from here countless times and it never disappoints. If you're a fan of different Asian soups then this is the place for you. They have pho, ramen, and other soups on their menu to hit the spot whenever you have a craving. I've dined in a handful of times and have always been very happy with my service. The servers are prompt and polite and the restaurant has always been clean when I've stopped in. Be aware that the interior is small so it's not the best location for larger groups and you may encounter a wait. My usual order is the pho tai (the beef pho) - I would recommend adding the beef meatballs! I have also had the black tonkotsu on the occasions where I'm craving ramen which is amazing, although you really can't go wrong with the other ramen varieties they have. There is also a surprisingly large selection of appetizers. Over time, I've tried out the edamame, steamed bun, gyoza, takoyaki, chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, and the chicken wings. I would say that my favorite of all is the chicken karaage and it is up to par with other Asian restaurants we've tried out around Boston. Overall, I'm so glad that I found Soup Shack and will definitely be ordering from here again!

Yelp
black tonkotsu ramen 3.5/5 chicken katsu curry 3.5/5 The crispiness of the chicken katsu contrasted very well with the curry sauce and rice and the black tonkotsu ramen's warm soup definitely hit the spot. Tried this place with a friend one night and found it to be a place that gives nice portion sizes for the price! Good, casual place for lunch or dinner on a cold day. It can get a little cold in this location as there's no double-door. No complaints about service. It was busy when I went and a little bit cramped between tables, but nothing that would deter me from visiting again. Would say this a solid, casual place to hit-up when wanting to eat something warm. There's street parking available near the restaurant that shouldn't be too difficult to get.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food, beautiful relaxing view, friendly staff! It was a wonderful experience through and through. Such a lovely place for a quick meal. Parking is a little difficult to find but if you drive around a bit it shouldn't take too long to pull into someone leaving! I had the spicy cha-su rice bowl and the pork was so delicious and tender. The ramen broth was good as well. Great small restaurant to enjoy some food and get together with people.

Yelp
The curry here is sooooo good. My parents said the ramen and pho was also delicious. The servers were very nice. Limited seating but the ambiance is cozy.

Yelp
Soup Shack in Brookline has been on my need to try list for a while and one thing that intrigued me was having multiple types of soup. I tried it the other day in hopes of some warming and good soup and I am glad I tried it. One thing that I think worried me about this place is how it doesn't specialize in one type of soup. There's ramen, pho, thai soup, and rice bowls. I wish I had tried their ramen because it looks better but I got the khao soi. It could be my preference but it was a little bit too sweet and too heavy for my liking. Not the worst soup I have ever had but I was hoping it would have a more savory curry flavor than the sweet coconut. The noodles they used were good though. I also got the karaage which was amazing! Very flavorful and huge pieces. The sauce it came with was great and I think this is some of the best karaage I have had. I would maybe come back to try some of their other foods like the rice bowls, katsu, or the ramen, but I feel like nothing about this place makes me feel like I NEED to go back. The service was friendly and quick so no issues with that, but I think there are other specialty soup places I prefer over Soup Shack.
google avatar

Isabelle S.

Yelp
Worst service ever they took to long to get my order and asking me for a receipt I am never going back there again
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
3.5/5 I've been here a few times, and there are no complaints about the service or the place itself. It's not a very large space but it has a few tables & and a window seating area. They have appetizers, noodle soups, and rice bowls. This is a good place to go if everyone wants Asian noodle soups but is split on a specific cuisine. The flip side is that it doesn't seem very cohesive. The food isn't exceptional or anything special. But no complaints about any of the food I've tried here.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a chilly night ...and what's better than a good ol' bowl of noodle soup to warm you up? Service was very fast and friendly, while the setting was cozy, yet modern. Good vibes overall Would come back for all the warm comforts and tender protein I enjoyed during my visit - especially to try everything else on their menu!

Yelp
The food was amazing. I personally got the tan tan man and my boyfriend got the spicy miso beef stew. Both were very filling and yummy! The service was amazing, the waiters kept asking us if we needed anything and kept refilling our waters. The ambiance is a little small but super cozy. The tables are relatively small so I don't encourage large groups but rather groups of 2-4.

Yelp
The food is SO good! Service was friendly and attentive! The restaurant is so quaint and welcoming, love the ambient lighting. My favorite is either the Tonkotsu ramen or the chicken katsu curry. To die for!

Julianne C.

Yelp
Solid choice - good ramen and other offerings. Well rounded menu with Vietnamese and Thai. Love the hot soups on cold day. Spicy was not too spicy and staff was friendly. Environment was clean and outdoor cafe tables are an option.
google avatar

Yelp
I wish I found this place sooner! I enjoyed my visit very much. I ordered the fall special, katsu pumpkin curry, with a Thai iced tea. The chicken was perfectly crispy and the curry was savory and flavorful with a mild spiciness. I'm glad I got to try this while they still have it. Service was excellent and the food arrived quickly. Seating is limited since the restaurant is small, but it's still comfortable. I look forward to returning and trying more of their dishes.

Yelp
The Soup Shack is amazing, with multiples locations including Brookline, Jamaican Plain, and Porter Sq./ Cambridge area! The service is always great, servers are the sweetest, and the food is consistent and yummy. I love getting the spicy miso ramen soup with an egg. The have many options to get, if you do not want ramen. Soup Shack offers Thai and Vietnamese dishes, as well-- noodles and rice plates. I have ordered their gyoza in the past, and can recall that they were super tasty. I recommend this place for a quick fix for noodles, with ramen, thai noodles, and viet dishes, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu honestly.

Kelly D.

Yelp
Cozy and cute spot with excellent service. We had the vermicelli bowl and kao soi. Very fresh, very tasty. Better food here than the location in Cambridge.

Valerie S.

Yelp
The food was expensive and mediocre. We had the Pho soup. The chicken soup was watery and not tasty. There was not much chicken in the soup. We do not plan on eating here again.
google avatar

Bun C.

Yelp
The food was OK. I felt like everything was overrated and expensive. I was also kind of disappointed that a lot of the dishes I saw on Yelp were not available on the menu. Seems like the in store menu is more limited than what you see online. Service was friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to this restaurant during lunch time, and order this month special gapow ramen and a regular chicken curry. The waitress is very nice, she greeted us with the biggest smile ever! The restaurant is relatively small, so we do outside seating, since the weather is nice out side. I took of one star because the curry is okay, not the best. If come back I will go for the ramen option instead.
google avatar

Jake Z.

Yelp
Truly amazing place with the best asian food you could ever ask for. Even amongst 5 star yelp reviews, there is a spectrum from low 5 stars to high 5 stars. Soup shack is on the upper echelon of that range. The food here is absolutely delicious. They serve a mix of food inspired by Chinese, Thai, Korean, and Japanese cuisine. I got a chicken katsu curry dish that was so big in portion size with the perfect belly warming curry next to tender pieces of breaded chicken all lieing on a pillowly bed of white rice. Service was fast despite all the customers they have and ambiance was very chill and down to earth.

Yelp
Tip: Usually good amount of street parking a nice ice cream place nearby for dessert. This place is definitely a must try if you like pho. I usually go to "pho viet" but honestly this place might be just as good or even better. Unfortunately I cannot say the ramen was as great as it was okay. But I would definitely come back to try another pho or even the Thai noodle soups. Price-flavored value is p good.
google avatar

Braelyn Joy T.

Yelp
SERVICE: This shop was quiet with some nice music in the background. There were two other parties there at the same time, but our food came out very quickly after we ordered. FOOD: I ordered the Kai soi, which was delicious. It was mildly spicy in the beginning, and kept building and building in spice as I ate and the toppings all mixed together. The crispy egg noodles weren't very crunchy, but still good topping. My piece of chicken actually had a good amount of meat on it. OVERALL: I would definitely come back and try other things as well!
google avatar

Annabelle B.

Yelp
Got the Black Tonkotsu Ramen, and honestly it's some of the best ramen I've had in Boston yet. Very umami, great toppings (I added the egg), and broth that wasn't too oily. The corn and egg were almost a little sweet which was a nice balance to everything. Staff was super friendly, there was a hook under the bar to hang my bag, and all around a lovely place. Will be back to try more noodles soon!
google avatar

Hannah G.

Yelp
I love this place so much- I've ordered from here countless times! My go-tos are the Tom Yum Noodle Soup or Spicy Miso Ramen, which is actually spicy in my book. I recently tried the Chicken Katsu curry which was also super good. The service is super quick and the staff is nice. There's limited seating inside but they have outdoor tables too when the weather's nice.
google avatar

Rich L.

Yelp
They have changed the crispy skin pork belly to the normal cut like all other Ramen places. Hopefully they change it back since it is what made them different than all others
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little restaurant that feels more like a cafe than an Asian noodle shop. Nestled on the outskirts of Coolidge corner in Brookline, we went on a Friday evening and were able to be seated promptly for 2. Granted it was a surprisingly warm day for an April in Boston so there were also a bunch of people seated outside. We ordered a seaweed salad to start and a pho ga (chicken pho) and a Yasai Ramen. The salad had a unique dressing on top and had some kind of cabbage underneath. The whole thing was sprinkled with sesame seeds. It was a rather soothing dish that is perfect with warmer weather. The pho ga was tasty but the most outstanding feature was how clear and clean the broth is yet still maintaining its hearty flavor that most pho are known for.. This is usually a key indicator of how well a place really knows their pho. The Yasai ramen was equally hearty despite it being a vegetable-only noodle soup. It came with tofu, bak choi, bamboo shoots and bean sprouts. The ramen itself was on the harder side (which I prefer and didn't ask for so bonus points there) and wonderfully filling. Price is reasonable especially for a noodle shop in Brookline. tldr; excellent noodle shop with really fast and prompt service. Surprisingly probably one of the best pho broth in Boston area.
google avatar

Niki M.

Yelp
I had the duck noodle soup and steamed pork bun and it was all AMAZING! Staff is super friendly and accommodating! Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get.
google avatar

Mandy G.

Yelp
This a cute little restaurant in brookline! They have a wide selections of soups, with one of my favorites the bun bo hue. It also helps the the service is super friendly and speedy!
google avatar

Hursuong V.

Yelp
Features Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese inspired noodle dishes. Much less of a wait than other places around. Able to be seated quickly even though it's smaller inside. Service and food came out quickly too. The Vietnamese rice noodle salad was alright - I think the broth based noodles probably are better. A lil overpriced considering it's not too mind blowing but a good spot if you're tight on time / don't have reservations.
google avatar

Katherine C.

Yelp
The spicy miso is amazing! I highly recommend it. Here's my take! Ambiance: very casual, small interior and some outside seating in the summer. Just a quick lunch place or to-go spot - nothing fancy! Wish it had more of a unique vibe. Seating was limited Food: loved the spicy miso ramen! Lot of options that can feel overwhelming, but you can always come back! Drinks: I had the Thai iced tea! Not super sweet which I like!!!!
google avatar

Anish K.

Yelp
Takeout order. Got the Vietnamese Noodle Salad, steam bun with pork and Grilled chicken rice bowl. All of them were decently good. Overall a bit pricey compared to the quantity served.

Barbara G.

Yelp
Soups are fabulous. We have eaten there a few times and recently took out and it was also fantastic. Highly recommend soup shack.

Yelp
How have I not written a review for one of my favorite restaurants in Brookline?!? My boyfriend and I frequented this spot all the time since he lived close here. The restaurant is small and quaint. The food here is absolutely phenomenal. My favorite thing to get here is their Chicken Katsu Curry or really any of their ramen. Their Chicken Kaarage is also really good too, juicy and crispy. I have yet to try their Pho, but that is my next thing as I slowly work my way toward tasting their entire menu. The service is spectacular and the food is delicious. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. The inside is quite small, but I've never had to wait to be seated. They don't take reservations to my knowledge, but it's a yummy place to go to for a quick bite. If you're craving some good food that doesn't disappoint, come here! The food is very homey and comforting in my opinion, but I highly recommend trying this place out.

Mary S.

Yelp
I had the duck noodle soup and added some wontons. It was amazing! I was a little worried about the broth being heavy with the duck fat but it was delicious. Glad it was recommended.
google avatar

Charmie C.

Yelp
Actually didn't have any soup but the Vietnamese noodle salad, which was the special of the day. Hefty portion for one with delicious lemon grass grilled chicken and loads of veggies over thin, light noodles.
google avatar

Joseph L.

Yelp
Ramen, Pho, and Thai noodles in Brookline! I'm pretty skeptical of places that try to cover a lot of different cuisines at once but this place was good and everything I've ordered here has been satisfying. The menu has a lot of classics while also playing around with specials that change seasonally (shoutout to their mala pho) making it nice for a group with different cravings and in need of some variety. I always have good service here, the food is prepared very quickly, and the portions are hefty. Definitely need to come back to try more of their menu, but overall I'd say it's a solid spot if you're looking for something quick, casual, and filling.
google avatar

Jeannine O.

Yelp
Stopped by again this past week and ordered the spicy miso ramen ... again ... and it was even better this time. Highly recommend this place. Lots of pork and you just order the shoyu egg. I dare say it's the best shoyu egg I've had. Jammy and delicious.
google avatar

Deborah C.

Yelp
Came with a friend around 6:25pm on a Friday evening. We were originally told the wait would be around ten minutes, but they ended up giving us the table that's set aside for pickup/delivery orders. We both ordered the Black Tonkotsu Ramen, which I really enjoyed. The broth was on the sweeter side, which I liked, and it came with more meat than I could consume. All the textures were perfect as well. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu! One thing to note is that the night got pretty busy, so while the servers weren't rushing us to leave, I did notice them eyeing our bowls to see if we'd be ready to leave soon. They weren't rude about it, but just keep that in mind if you're looking for a place to have a long, intimate discussion on a weekend.
google avatar

Ken C.

Yelp
Soup galore Okay so a place that sells Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese food and named soup shack? I too was dubious to say the least. But if you know what they say - you are most surprised when your expectations are low. Got the black tonkotsu which was amazing. Crispy pork and chashu pork with all the ramen fixings. Broth was rich and flavorful. Noodles were tender. Also got the chicken katsu curry which was excellent done. Curry had a nice kick to it as well. Both were very generously portioned and came out FAST. Hats off to this restaurant, really shows you can have a diverse menu and still have good food.

Yelp
I'm very, VERY excited that Soup Shack is my very first review for New England! Living in Boston, MA for 5 Months now, Soup Shack is still HANDS DOWN my favorite restaurant to date! No joke, I've eaten here 5 times! The restaurant's a cute little hole in the wall in Brookline that has so much to offer. It's warm and cozy, and you always get quick service. If you're wondering, yes, it does have that iconic Bostonian Brick Wall interior! Now, having tried a plethora of their menu offerings, my two favorites are the Black Tonkotsu Ramen and the Chicken Katsu Curry. The food always comes picture worthy, but let's get into the taste. SO DELICIOUS! Personally, this is the first restaurant that I've seen serve Black Tonkotsu. To me, this was very unique and the reason I ordered it the first time I ate here. The rich flavors with the black sesame and black garlic oil accents keeps you wanting more and more. The Chicken Katsu Curry has a delectable crunchy outside. Paired with the spices of the curry, it's sure to warm you up on a cold winter day. Cannot wait to eventually try the entire menu! If you haven't been here yet - what are you waiting for?! P.S. One of my New Years Resolutions for 2022 is to become Yelp Elite! Going to work towards that little by little! I hope you, as the reader, find my reviews, and food photos helpful! Yelp
Got takeout for first time from here. Wonderful duck (ordered the extra). and soup. Will definitely order again.

Yelp
Great spot that does a little bit of everything noodle/broth-wise: Japanese, Thai, & Vietnamese. Solid broths for ramen, pho, laksa, and tom yum of the ones I've tried. Convenient, can't go wrong, & large servings

Yelp
Method: Dine-in Item(s) ordered: Yasai Ramen (Vegetarian/Vegan), Shoyu Ramen, Edamame The short answer: Friendly place, delicious food, will definitely come here again. The long answer: I would call Soup Shack a little place with big character. The staff were incredibly kind and made sure we could be seated, even though it was a busy night. I VERY much appreciated the versatile menu for different dietary need. The Yasai Ramen comes with a rice noodle vegan option, because the ramen noodles have egg (I still got the ramen). My friend, a ramen expert, got the Shoyu Ramen and said that it was "almost the best Ramen I've ever had, right next to this authentic place in NYC". Boston can never catch a break. Well I say it's number 1 because at Soup Shack, the benefit is that you don't have to go to NYC. Anyway, we added a marinated soft boiled egg, and it hit the spot. Finally, the edamame were pretty standard. Not very much salt. I do have to say that the food came out within about 5-7 minutes, and the portions were generous, so the appetizer wasn't really necessary. So happy to have found a nice place in the neighborhood!
