Imagine yourself as a trader on the Silk Road, traveling thousands of miles.
You've been stuck in the Gobi Dessert for weeks, and you're reaching the end of your water supply. Your mouth is dry, and your body is in desperate need of some sort of hydration. As you fall onto the ground, completely parched, you see a welcome sight. It's a bazaar in the middle of the desert.
Immediately, you make a beeline towards the nearest water vendor. After approaching the vendor's stall, you realize something: all they sell is Aquafina. Not Arrowhead, with its flavorful minerals from the Lake Arrowhead. Not Crystal Geyser, with their all natural spring water. But Aquafina: which tastes not good on a good day, and nasty on a normal day. However, you're parched, and this is the best you can do you. You take a sip and....it tastes alright. Nothing amazing, but it hits the spot during a tough time.
This is how I felt going to Soup Shop. I was hungry and in the area, with the next best option being at least ten miles and 30 minutes away. The Pho was alright, I ordered a combination and it didn't blow me away. There was heavy use of pepper, and the broth was strong but not deep in depth. It was a bit over the standard price of pho nowadays, around 16 dollars (I miss 7.25 for a large bowl of pho...) and satiated me at the time. The service was quick, and it got the job done. I would not travel far distances just to come here, but if I am in the area and craving pho, this will be the spot.
