A Tale of Two Portland Food Carts and a Stifling Heat Wave | Eater Portland

"I was told that Hatch spent time working at the Psychic Bar pop-up Sunshine Noodles and that it “kind of felt like a food cart” because there was no insulation, meaning the space was unprotected from extreme temperatures much like a cart." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

This is a hidden gem in Jacksonville, inspired by Japanese anime comics! The decor is fantastic, and their noodle soups and appetizers are incredibly delicious. During my first visit, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that they serve udon and pho alongside ramen! I tried the Curry Laksa (a spicy coconut milk broth) – Singaporean noodles, and the Kaio Mami (a savory and sweet broth) – Filipino noodles. Both dishes exceeded my expectations! We also enjoyed the "Build Your Own Bowl" option, where you can add your favorite toppings to your chosen noodles. My gluten-free and vegan friends will definitely love this place! The prices are very reasonable, with small sides starting at $10, which was more than enough to fill me up. You can also opt for "Kaedama," which is extra noodles. If you haven't been here, its time for you to try it.

The atmosphere? Wonderful. Cute little nerdy place. The food, though? Even chili oil couldn’t save it from the blandness, and neither of us even finished our food. The meatballs are also not meatballs in a normal sense - technically they are balls of meat, but the texture and flavor are nothing like any meat I’ve ever eaten. Really, save yourself the money and time, and eat something that actually has any flavor at all.

The experience was enjoyable. You place your order on a tablet. If you're not familiar with the food type check out the menu ahead of time and let Google be your best friend. 🤭 Service was quick! Food was delish! We'll definitely be back next time we're in Jacksonville.

This place's food was soo good!! The ramen was delicious. The potstickers were really tasty. The boba tea was also fantastic. And all the Dragonball memorabilia was so intricate and well put together. It's the kind of place I visit at conventions. Top notch spot. Definitely want to eat there again.

I have been to this location since it started. With the change of ownership some changes have been made. Not to say it is bad, it's sad to see it removed. No photos of soup challenge winners and merch has been reduced. This is just lack of sales. My biggest advice is be careful of the early lunch rush, it can be packed. There is a slight change in taste from ingredients but still great. Definitely worst the trip. Come hungry, leave full and happy.

This place was recommended to me and I'm so happy that it was. I've eaten there a couple of times now and here is what I had: Build your own Ramen bowl, egg rolls, shrimp tempura, and it was SO GOOD! Even the dipping sauces that came with the egg rolls and shrimp tempura were delicious. They also have super fast customer service when it comes to ordering pick up. I have only done takeout here so I can't speak to the atmosphere, although the decorations are cool. They also package your food so well for pickup that I've never had a spill. The broth was hot and secured separately from the ramen noodles and other ingredients. Once I got home the broth was still a very warm temperature and I didn't have to reheat anything.
