New Ownership Is the Best LA Restaurant Trend of 2024 - Eater LA

"In 2020, Souplantation announced it was closing all 97 restaurants during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The circumstances surrounding the pandemic exacerbated an already grim financial picture for a business that filed for bankruptcy in 2016. When news that a Souplantation dupe with no business relation to the original called Soup ‘n Fresh was open in Rancho Cucamonga, longtime fans showed up in droves and waited over an hour to fill their melamine plates with Wonton Happiness salad and blueberry muffins." - Cathy Chaplin

The overall experience was ok. The place seems very understaffed or not fast enough everywhere I looked I seen dirty dishes and people putting their dishes on other tables. But the food was just ok. My mom complained to the manager about the problem and gave us free passes to eat at the souplantation so it wasn't all of a bad experience.

Google
Highly disssapointed. We got there around 12:30pm, coming out just now at 1:40pm, more than an hr, table of 5 people, and NOT once, did they come to clean our table. The lady kept walking past us, would look at us, and not stop. She would go to other tables, that weren't even full and clean. We had to remove our trays ourselves, multiple times. We were decent, not loud, not messy, but nope, not once were we asked if we needed anything. Food was ok, but needed more variety in the fruit section. 3 trays were full of nasty, almost rotten oranges. I used to love this Souplantation, now, not at all.

Google
Good, fresh, healthy food. Not a lot of meat -- with the exception of the chicken chunk soup with it's huge pieces of chicken -- but it's healthy and there's something here for everyone. One of our family's favorite places to eat. 👌

This place is perfect for healthier eating. I like to make my salad fancy and then I will try one of their seasonal soups.

I used to live in the area and have visited many times before. It is always clean and tables are cleared relatively fast. The employees are friendly and it's an all-around good environment. Five stars for the consistency. I love trying all the soups and making the most over the top salads.

Google
This place is amazing! The food is great, service is great and definitely a model buffet place. Despite the limited options, the food quality and price (only $14 for lunch with a drink!) more than make up for it. This is a great place to take your friends and family, and never fails to meet up to expectations on every visit. 5/5 stars.

Yelp
My dream finally came true. After being devastated that souplantation was taken away during the pandemic - soup and fresh came to the rescue! Everything tasted amazing and the establishment almost mimicked every souplantation recipe exactly. But the chicken noodle soup was waaaay tastier than I remember it! There was a line but it went by quite quickly and everything here was really clean and the service was amazing. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
It's a souplantation... That's all you need to know. What a freaking gem!!! It's a 40 to an hour drive from our location and we still thought it was worth it. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
This place is practically Souplantation!! Brings back so many memories. It's a buffet. Salad bar, soups, pizza, and pasta. I remember seeing people wait in line to eat here last year. I came around 11am and no line. It was fairly busy even with it raining. I love the classic chicken noodle soup and blueberry muffins.

Yelp
Soup Plantation Dup - Soup 'n Fresh review! Not SGV but it is SGV adjacent. Like many, I miss Soup Plantation and it wasn't for the quality or taste of the food but for providing a decent gathering place to hang out with friends and family, and basically graze on comfort food like cattle for hours. I felt you could not get kicked out unless you really tried. Vibe: exactly just like Soup Plantation. The lay out, soup crocks, plateware, and decor are eerily similar to its predecessor. We enjoyed the nostalgia of pre Covid days. I watched a table of family across 3 generations, and witnessed their joy of sharing each other's company. It was comforting to see! Wait: there was a long queue in a comfortable covered patio. We arrived on this Saturday around 5:00 pm and stood right outside the patio. We didn't get seated until 5:45 pm. The line was consistently long and got longer after we lined up. Parking is non existent-- it was so packed! Just keep circling. Price: $18.99 per adult and $9 for kids 4-8. $3.29 for a soda cup. Food: almost everything you got at SP. I felt most items were pretty comparable. The chicken noodle soup was similar. The blueberry muffin wasn't as good as it lacked blueberries and was baked in the same pan as the chocolate chocolate muffin loaf. The Asian wonton salad was very bland. Would I visit again? Maybe if I was out that way. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there though there are people who travel (the couple in front of us in line drove up from Anaheim and it was their third visit). A part me is rooting for the Soup Plantation in Arcadia reopens (recently saw the neon lights on as a few years ago) but it likely won't happen.

Yelp
I'm so happy to have this option in Southern California for a Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes dupe!! It felt exactly the same, except even better! While the wait is likely to be over an hour - it took about an hour and a half when we went on a Sunday, I appreciated how well organized and managed the line was. Once inside, they have the same set-up as Souplantation with the salad bar you select your items from before reaching the checkout. The dining area has stations for soup and pasta, fruits, a bakery with pizza and brownie muffins, amongst other options, and the soft serve ice cream machine! All of the food tasted nearly identical to what Souplantation had, and the minor differences felt like improvements! The macaroni and cheese, for example, wasn't quite the same. I actually preferred this one due to its creamier, less watery preparation. The lighting also felt warm and welcoming within the dining area, with the set-up having a cozy but modern farmhouse type of vibe. All in all, Soup'N Fresh still offers the same type of healthy, fresh, and affordable food in a buffet setting that made so many (myself included!) adore Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes. The minor differences made things better, in my opinion, and the long wait outside was well-worth it! If you ever enjoyed dining at Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes, I definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
WOW! Soup n Fresh is worth the 2 hour wait in line... if you know you know. This is a souplantation copycat but does it much better than the original! And this is coming from someone who loved going to souplantation as a kid. Everything here is supremely fresh and clean. The salads and dressings are so varied and all delicious and their baked goods are even better than I remember souplantation being. There are also several soup options (I think like 6). I wish I lived closer and could come here more often.

Yelp
Totally forgot to take a pic of the soft serve ice cream. Lot of people ask if it's like the original souplantation.... Yes! Exactly the same minus the name! So glad Soup n Fresh is here to serve to those that love veggies and soup and of course their pizza! Husband and I arrived at 10:26am.. we can tell that the long line was slowly moving.... We were lucky to make it with the first group. As we were walking out we noticed how the line doubled! Try to come early.

Yelp
After waiting a year, I finally got the chance to try the souplantation dupe. I was among many others whose heart broke when souplantation closed its doors during the pandemic and am so glad someone brought the concept back. The wait can be pretty bad. Around an hour and a half on a Sunday. But the good thing is they take reservations now. Openings are around 3-4 weeks out but it definitely makes up for the lack of wait times. Once inside, it all looks the same as the old souplantation restaurants. And I believe this used to be an souplantation site anyways. The salads, soups, focaccia, and pasta stations were all there. Kind of like walking down memory lane. It's very similar to souplantation but not quite identical. For one, the noodles in the chicken noodle soup are definitely not the same. This is more of an egg noodle without much texture, much different than that of souplantation. All of the pasta salad, slaws were really watery. I did find the Asian mandarin salad not very flavorful. The whipped honey butter had a funny look to it and did not appear fluffy at all. And the whipped butter was hard, difficult to spread. But then again, they are not advertising to be souplantation so any creative differences I can understand. The good: the focaccia, the pastas, and CORNBREAD I thought tasted better than souplantation. More flavorful and had more depth of flavor than I remember that souplantation had in the past. Overall I had a great time here and would definitely come back again.

Yelp
I had a really great first time experience when we first visited a couple months ago. Although it was during their soft opening and they were still working out some kinks. This time around, there's clearly a lot more improvements and I left very impressed! The food tastes even better and there's even more options to choose from! We came on a Saturday and they were serving Pozole! The Pozole came with huge chunks of pork, so definitely no skimping on the meat. We also got to try all the pastas that we didn't try the first time, and they were all really tasty! For dessert they were stocked with ice cream cones, compared to the soft opening when we only had bowls. The wait on the weekends are still long approx one hour, but it moves fast and they only let in groups at a time so people aren't waiting around the salad bar and crowding the buffet areas. They have a system down to make the buffet experience enjoyable for everyone.

Yelp
If you were a fan of Souplantation, I'm almost certain you will like Soup 'n Fresh as well, except with more people! As you arrive, you will more often than not see a line outside which will take around a 30 minute wait on weekends. As you enter the restaurant, you will see the host direct you to either the left or right side. The interior is very much new, clean, and looks almost identical to Souplantation! Adult Fare: $16.99 for lunch, $18.99 for dinner. Seniors and children are discounted. Fountain drinks/coffee/tea: $3.29. Pretty reasonable in this economy! The salad selections - you have your already made Asian salad, Asian chicken salad, and Caesar salad. Or, you can also make your own salad with all the fixings. Dressing station has honey mustard, thousand island, blue cheese, Italian, and homemade ranch. That's right, I do love that ranch is homemade here! There were 8 soup options when I was there - chili, broccoli cheddar, bone broth chicken noodle (love it), mushroom soup, clam chowder, lentil & spinach, and tomato. There were also 3 pasta options - Alfredo, marinara, and mac & cheese. Other options include blueberry muffin, cornbread, cheese flatbread, garlic cheese flatbread, fruits, soft serve, and even a make your own potato station with fixings! I do love the fact that the ranch dressing is homemade and the chicken noodle is made with bone broth! For those reasons, I do love this place a tad bit better than the ole Souplantation. This place is a great choice if you're ever feeling nostalgic, on a diet, hungry, or just want to have a fresh healthy start for the new year!

Yelp
For all the Souplantation fans, this restaurant will absolutely bring you back to the good ol' days - almost everything was the same! - PARKING - There's a large lot but it was very packed, even at 4:30pm on a Saturday. - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - We waited for about an hour at 4:30pm on a Saturday, which is what we were expecting. The line snakes around the entrance area, and the staff ensures the salad bar area is not crowded. Because of this, you move a huge amount when people are let in. The staff comes out to take note of your party size, so that when you are inside, you're seated in the most optimal place. Everything is kept pretty clean and they do a good job restocking items as people eat. - FOOD - Dinner ($18.99): Although not as cheap as I remember it to be, this is still a great price for AYCE. I feel like the quality is the same as Souplantation was, in almost everything! The only difference were the baked goods - the blueberry and brownie muffins are more of a loaf shape and were not as fluffy, but that's about it! - OVERALL - This is a far drive from San Diego, but I'm glad we got to scratch the nostalgia itch at least once!

Yelp
My heart is full! I'm filled with nostalgia and was so happy to have this Souplantation dupe! It's 95% the same as Souplantation, but with more options. We went around 6pm on a Friday and waited about 38 minutes which wasn't too bad, given that I was already expecting a long wait. By the time I finished, the line was looped around 2-3 times more than my initial line! Definitely suggest to go during off times. But overall, they were very efficient in tracking the number of guests in the party, and moving things along. As for the food, we went in line to start off with our salad. Everything was fresh and had so many toppings and options to choose from. There were also at least 8 soups, way more options than Souplantation. I tried a tiny bowl of each, and I could say my favorite is either the clam chowder or cream of mushroom soup. Although it's slightly salty, they were all very delicious, with plenty of meat and substance in the soup. It might be due to the rush hour, but they seem to always keep the soup refilled and full for us to scoop. There's also toppings such as crackers, onions, green onions etc on the side if we wish to add to our soup or baked potatoes. For the bakery side, the garlic cheesy bread was pretty good. I didn't try the other pastries there, but the tomato based pizza bread was just OK. Simple pasta was available there too. And of course I ended with some fruits and icecream (with a splash of coffee as an affogato-like dessert). The workers inside were quick on cleaning up our empty dishes for us to grab more. Love how clean and efficient they are as a buffet. I would say it's somewhat healthy, but not exactly if you add in the carbs, dressings and toppings. Cant wait to go back! I used to eat Souplantation a few times a month!

Yelp
Showed up 30 minutes before opening (10:30am) on the day after Christmas (Thurs, Dec 26) and there was already a line. We were the second to last group allowed in. The line was twice as long when we left at around noon. Everything was almost the same as the good ol' Souplantation days. Same salad menu, soups, layout, and interesting choice of jello and pudding in the dessert section. It was a little pricier for lunch but I rather pay more so they stay in business. They're opening a Chino Hills location soon too. Staff was nice and soft serve machine was rich. Wasn't icy or watered down. There was even Gatorade on the soda machine. Bathrooms were clean and plenty of parking. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fresh salad and soup buffet.

Yelp
I was thrilled to hear about Soup 'n Fresh, the new restaurant reminiscent of Souplantation, which broke so many fans' hearts when it closed during the pandemic. Naturally, I had to check it out. We decided to go on a random Monday for lunch to avoid the infamous long waits. Arriving at 12, there was already a line at the entrance, but it moved quickly, and we were seated after about 12 minutes. The setup felt like a nostalgic trip back in time--almost identical to what Souplantation used to be. From the moment I stepped inside, it was like revisiting an old favorite. The salad bar was as fresh and diverse as I remembered, with some familiar options and a few new pre-made salads that caught my eye. Everything I tried was crisp, fresh, and flavorful. For soups, I went with the chicken noodle and creamy mushroom. Both were excellent! The chicken noodle soup was loaded with tender chicken pieces, which I cleverly used to turn my salad into a makeshift chicken salad--highly recommend trying this pro tip. The only minor difference I noticed was the noodles, which were thinner and firmer compared to Souplantation's. While I slightly preferred the old version, this was still a win in my book. Beyond salads and soups, the restaurant offers a variety of pizzas, three types of pastas, baked potatoes, muffins, cornbread, gingerbread, and more. Plus, they have a fruit bar and soft-serve ice cream to round out the meal. It truly felt like Souplantation 2.0! I also heard they're planning to open a second location in Chino/Chino hills, and I can't wait to visit. Soup 'n Fresh is the perfect revival of a much-missed dining experience. If you were a Souplantation fan, you'll feel right at home here.

Yelp
Large open parking lot, they took over thr old Souplantation and boy are they just like them. If you like the old model the new model is just as nostalgic and good. The highlighted difference would be the chicken noodle soup which seems to have more chicken but the noodles are softer and thinner. All the other options are basically the same. The waiting is efficient on an off hour, they seem to like to control the flow to make sure things are not too crowded. Overall if you liked this type of thing before you would like it now. Don't go during peak hours if you are not a Souplantation fanatic.

Yelp
I LOVE SOUPLANTATION!!! so i loved it here obvi be prepared to wait...sometimes the wait can be as short as 30-40 min and as long as 1.5-2 hours. Idk if I think it's worth past the 1 hour mark, but definitely worth it for a 30 min wait.

Yelp
After months of wanting to try this place out, we finally decided to make the drive from OC. We went on a Sunday so we expected it to be packed. We arrived at 10:20 and the line was down to the side walk. The line was about a 45 minute wait until we got to the door and were able to go inside. We did have a little hiccup, after we got our salad and were paying we were told there was no available table for our party of 5 and the party of 2 that was behind us. For us it was no big deal, we are patient people but after a couple of minutes they sat us down. The salad bar had a Cesar and an Asian salad and they had the make your own salad with different bases and toppings. They also had pasta salad and coleslaw and a variety of different dressings. They had sweet and russet potato options. They have pizza flat bread and different types of muffins and bread. They had a variety of soups and different pasta options. Next to the soups, they have a topping station where you can add to your soups and razzle dazzle your potato. They had a fresh fruit bar with yogurt, rice pudding and fruit salad. They had an ice cream station with three different types of soft serve, they had cones, or you can serve on a bowl, and they have different syrups you can add. They have a beverage station, where they have fountain drinks, lemonade, ice tea, and 2% milk. This is a great place to bring your family, the layout was nicely set up where you can walk between the tables to get your food. The staff were nice and were very attentive to empty dishes on the table. They were constantly refilling food stations and cleaning up any spills. Overall we had a great experience and it's somewhere I would make the 50 minute drive to and wait an extra 45 mins in line for.

Yelp
OMG a look alike Souplantation back in LA! If you haven't heard all the rave reviews this place is totally legit! It's has the exact same original Souplantation menu and pricing! Just sadly there is only one location, but expanding soon to Chino Hills and more! Yes the lines is crazy line every single day and goes all the way down to the sidewalk! So be prepared to wait about 1.5 hours! No they do not take RSVP either but it's totally worth the wait to taste the nostalgic flavors/items. The line as you get closer wraps like a Disneyland queue with 3 levels deeps and two sections. The interior food bar layout is exactly the same as OG Souplantation with the salad bar, with two lines at the entrance, soup bar on the left, hot food bar with your classic muffins/pizza/baked potato on the other side, dessert bar in the middle, and self serve drinks in the enter. The dining area is also seated with the same OG color schemes. There are some minor differences here especially in the soup bar. They have occasional special menu items like galbi tang, so check there social for the list of seasonal items. Overall a very good nostalgic value and praying they do mass expansions or the OG Souplantation come back to socal! If you're in the Rancho Cucamonga area or want somewhere to eat after shopping at Ontario Mills definitely come here but just be prepared to wait especially during those peak hours!

Yelp
Finally got the chance to drive out here to try this popular Souplantation revival spot. Parking was rough, but that was to be expected considering the long line of people waiting to get in. The line moved steadily and we were inside after about 35 minutes. Dining room is large and lively. Food always being rotated. Lunch price is $16.99 until 4pm then after that it is $18.99 which is a pretty solid deal in my opinion. Just like the original, the salad bar is available as soon as you enter. I indulged in my favorite tuna pasta salad which tasted exactly like it did so many years ago. There were also some delicious soups including clam chowder, broccoli cheddar, cream of mushroom and more. There are also three types of pasta: alfredo, mac and cheese, and spaghetti. The bakery section offers cheesy breads, muffins, corn bread, and of course brownies. Piece of advice, wait for a fresh batch of corn bread and brownies as they are way better when they are hot. There is a fresh fruit bar available next to the always delicious soft serve machine. Staff is very attentive and are frequently coming around to clear plates. Overall, a great nostalgic experience and yummy selection, I hope to be back here soon.

Yelp
Soup and Fresh tends to get busy quickly, so I recommend arriving before it opens. The restaurant is very similar to Souplantation, and I really wish they would open more locations since there's only one right now, leading to a lot of traffic here. My personal favorite was the chicken noodle soup. I was hoping they'd have pozole, but unfortunately, they didn't. The clam chowder was very thick, while the minestrone was also a solid option. The service was great! Staff came around multiple times to clear our trays and keep the space clean.

Yelp
Had a random Monday off, so I decided to visit my mom and take her out for lunch. I was really excited to finally try this "Souplantation dupe!" Parking: They're located in a plaza, and they have a large parking lot. Finding a spot can be difficult. Ambiance/Environment: Despite whether you're coming in on a weekend or weekday, you'll always be waiting. The hostess told us they've had a line since they opened. We came in around 11:30am, and there was a line. We were actually seated quickly as families were consistently leaving. It's really clean inside! Very modern. Plenty of indoor seating, but no outdoor seating. Service: Everyone was quick and efficient! There are a lot of workers, and their communication is on point. Food: We started off with the salad bar, which is the largest bar. They offered different salads with lots of toppings and dressings. Everything tasted absolutely fresh! Next, we went to the soup & pasta bar. I looove their baked potato soup and Alfredo pasta! The bakery bar seemed to be consistently empty with few pieces of bread. I did try their cheesy garlic bread and baked potatoes, which were really good. The fruits were fresh, and the rice pudding & tapioca were amazing! Pricing: Definitely worth its price! My mom and I enjoyed everything! We'll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Nostalgic if you are a fan of Souplantation. Beware, the line can be long. We had to wait about an hour to be seated during Christmas break. Not sure if it is like this regularly. Very clean and service is exceptional. The vibe and food were very similar with, IMO, soup being a little more flavorful than I remember. You start out with a salad bar. Everything was very fresh. They even had chopped eggs, which I remember was not available when we had the egg crisis a few years ago. The soup options were very traditional. They did not have a soup of the month, but I was not expecting it. IMO, the minestrone soup, and the chicken noodle soup were more flavorful than I remember. As for the famous mac & cheese, according to my kid, it was pretty darn close to the original. They each had two bowls. There was also a dessert bar, soft, serve, ice cream, baked potato bar, and a bunch of flatbread. Just like the old days. Highly recommend if you are a fan of the old Souplantation.

Yelp
A dupe of the beloved late Souplantation (rest in peace). We were going to be in the area so we had to check it out! Be sure to come early especially on the weekend. We thought we came early at 4:30pm on a Saturday, but still ended up waiting almost an hour in line. If you are familiar with Souplantation, things are pretty similar here. Once you get in, you follow the line through the salad bar and grab whatever you want. Then you pay at the register and are seated. There are other stations inside for soups, pastas, and baked goods which you can grab after being shown to your table. I ate so much here and was absolutely stuffed! If you have a big appetite I think you can definitely get good value out of this place. It's still buffet food though so don't come in expecting Michelin star quality, but I think it's good for what it is. Wish they had one closer to me so I could come more often to get my buffet fix!

Yelp
Went with family of five to Soup 'n Fresh on Sunday, 2/2/2025. We LOVED it! We arrived about 20 minutes before they opened and got in the waiting line. Once open the establishment had an excellent system in which they came through the line and determined how many people were in each party, then seated guests as they finished building their salads and exited the cashier area. It was very smooth and much appreciated. The wait was not bad at all! The salad bar was fantastic, just like we remembered from the old Souplantation days, but actually better. The pre-made Caesar salad and Asian won ton salad were both really good. The entire salad bar was full of fresh ingredients and it was clean and organized. The soups were really delicious and the chicken noodle soup, which had always been popular At Souplantation was arguably better and tastier here. The chili and beans was also tastier. All the pizza breads, baked potatoes and fixings were good as well. The desserts were fresh and tasty, the jello was better than we remembered from Souplantation. The restroom facilities were spotless and you could tell they were cleaned often. Waitress was helpful and provided good information, including informing us that a new 2nd location is scheduled to open soon in Chino Hills. This location was a bit of a drive for us, but no complaints, it was worth it. Hope to return again soon.

Yelp
We all miss the old Souplantation from pre-pandemic times. So glad that Soup 'n Fresh decided to keep the old formula and open up this restaurant. The classics are pretty much the same as before and some might argue even better than before. We got here on a Sunday afternoon and had about a 45 min wait. The line moved slowly but steadily. Once you get in, the nostalgia comes back and you can fill up on salad and all the soup and pizza, Mac and cheese, and pasta that you like. They don't make you feel rushed and the servers cleared our plates fairly regularly once we got started. ----TL;DR---- Pros: just like the old SP. very clean inside, large portions as it is buffet style, everyone finds something they like! Cons: none, except a bit of a wait Bottom Line: if you miss SP like we do, step back into Soup 'n Fresh for all the same goodness we remember from before!

Yelp
Came here on the way back from Palm Springs. The line on a Monday around lunch was not too bad, but we still waited about 25 minutes to get inside. The line is organized and snakes around the entrance. When you enter, you are immediately entered into the salad line that has your usual fixings. You can come back in the this line after so no need to overcrowd your plate if you don't want to. Soups are towards the middle with about 7-8 different kinds. Chili, minestrone, chicken noodle, parole, and bone broth to name a few. There are other items like pasta as well which I liked a lot! The concept is great and if you come very hungry, is good value. None of the soups really stood out to me. It was a full but not fulfilled situation. Perhaps I would feel differently if I didn't have to wait initially.

Yelp
As all the other reviews say, it's Souplantation nostalgia and for those like my hubby & I that have missed it since the pandemic, it was good! We came for a late-lunch over Thanksgiving weekend. The wait was about 45 minutes still, but Soup 'n Fresh doesn't let you crowd thru in the salad line like Souplantation used to. They have a person checking how many people are in each party and seem to seat people as they are in line, instead of the filling the tables by the sizes they have available. I'm not sure this is more efficient, but they look to be busy most weekends, and this seating arrangement helps them keep the food quality & quantity in check, and the place clean. Prices are reasonable, compared to Souplantation before. They don't have a "seasonal" menu, but they still have the Caesar Salad and Asian Chicken Wonton Salad. Soups had minestrone, chicken noodle, tomato bisque, chili, etc. Baked goodies like their blueberry muffins, carrot cakes, baked potato and sweet potato. Pizza & pasta were good. Hubby thought most of the dishes actually taste a bit better than their predecessor. The chicken noodle soup actually had two & was filled with chicken!! I was amazed. Desserts had some fruits, arroz con leche, tapioca pudding and jello. Drinks (besides water) are extra. Wish this was closer to home, but we'll make the trip out probably for an occasional Souplantation fix! There is a 2 hour time limit, that they write on your receipt. Not sure how strictly they enforce it. Their restrooms were clean & was able to go use it while waiting in line since we had a long drive.

Yelp
my friend and I were in the plaza to go to another store but saw that soup and fresh was here so decided to stop by and grab a bite before we went to study. We were there right as it open, so there wasn't much of a line which was really nice. When you enter there are trays and plates that you grab to self serve salad. After you're done with the salad, you pay and they'll seat you at a table. There are a lot of tables inside, which is nice and we were probably seated. In the buffet area they had so many different types of soup and there was also a bakery area with bread, muffins, and potato. It was good and makes me miss souplantation a little!

Yelp
We went here for a weekday lunch and there was a line. Expect to wait about 10 minutes during weekday lunch hours. The good thing is, the line moved fairly quickly. When you first enter the building, you'll be directed to the salad line. Maybe I missed the instructions on how it works, but it was unclear whether you could return to the salad bar or if it was a one-time opportunity. So I'm here to tell you that you can come back to the salad bar--there's no need to overload your plate. After the salad bar, you'll be guided to the register to pay, and then a staff member will seat you. When I entered the main dining area, I was overwhelmed by the many choices. Soup and pasta are on the left counter, baked goods are on the right, and fruit and drinks are on the center counter. Now, onto the taste, everything tastes fresh and refreshing. The flavors were all in the mid-range to light spectrum, and I understand why: it's to ensure that everyone can enjoy it. Overall, I found the soup and salad to be really enjoyable. However, most of the salad dishes leaned more towards the sweet side, which can get overwhelming. Having a nice hot cup of tomato soup or spaghetti with red sauce on the side can help balance out the flavors. Some of my personal favorites are: Chili - It was such comfort food. The flavor was light but heartwarming. I really liked that there was a counter with toppings for the chili, like sour cream, bacon bits, cheese, etc. It was great that they provided us with such a delicious soup and let us customize it with toppings. Spaghetti in Red Sauce - The pasta was cooked a bit too soft for my preference. However, the sauce was amazing. The consistency was perfect for me, not watery, and had small crushed tomato textures. It was aromatic and tangy, with a slight freshness from the basil. It added such a nice contrast to the overall flavors of the other dishes, and you could also enjoy it on its own. Alfredo Sauce - It was delicious. It was light and creamy with a nutty flavor from the cheese. If you're looking to brighten up your day, have a plate of this. Small complaint: the tuna pasta salad and other salads with meat. I didn't really see or get any meat in those salads. Maybe they could add a little more protein, or perhaps the people before me grabbed all the protein? Lastly, the staff were really attentive. There were almost no used dishes left on any table for more than 5 minutes during service. They kept both the food counter and the dining area tidy at all times.

Yelp
It's definitely not souplantation-RIP. :( BUT it is the next best thing, so I make sure I stop by anytime I happen to be in the area. It's always clean and organized and the staff is great. The food is very similar. Definitely recommend the mushroom soup and the chicken noodle soup if you get the chance to try it! Only negative note is that you have to wait in line to get inside. Every time I've been here, I've waited at least 45min-1hour or more.

Yelp
I'm surprised that the line is still crazy long between 1-4pm on the weekends. If you're standing on the sidewalk your wait will be about an hour and a half. They now require you to have your receipt on the table, cashier will write your party size circled with a 2 hour time stamp. Unfortunately, some people were taking advantage and staying 4-6 hours there. There's a new flat bread option Ritzy Grilled Cheese and it was so good, added crispy texture was much needed. They now have Pozole for dinner only, great for cold winter days. It has chunks of pork hock and pork bones. Adds a deeper flavor than before when they only used pork chunks no bone in. APPLE PIE PIZZA?! Dough is a little underdone but pairs well with their soft serve. Not too sweet.

Yelp
Soup plantation version 2. On the way I was driving back to LA county from Palm Springs around 4 PM, I decided to come to this place for an early dinner. Ever since this place opened, I always wanted to come try it however, knowing the long lines it has every day and the distance from where I live is not close, i rarely got the chance until a couple of days ago. I arrived around 5 PM on a Thursday evening. It was already busy in there, almost 90% full of capacity although there was no line. Staff there were super friendly and nice. Their selection of food is similar to soup plantation and thats something i prefer them having more choices instead of their limited food selection. After all, their food quality and taste is great especially their choices of soup. There is always 1-2 person that would come and pick up used plates and help clean tables up so the cleanliness of it is above standard. This is definitely a place that will open up more in other areas and highly recommend to go for good soups!

Yelp
Reminiscent of Souplantation! Doors open at 9:30am! I suggest getting there early because the line can get kind of long. Everything here is soooo good! They have the classic soups, pastas, baked potatoes, breads, and salads! My husband and I love this place. Don't forget to grab a soft serve on your way out! 10/10

Yelp
A love letter to beloved Souplantation that's no longer around, this AYCE soup, salad, and more restaurant is a worthy tribute to what was lost. Hats off to them for being committed to everything Souplantation was all about- an affordable, quality AYCE dining experience a whole family can enjoy without breaking the bank. It is a bustling place with many families and groups of all sizes. The lunch lines can get long and it can get crowded, but service is very quick and attentive. Everything feels instantly familiar the second you walk in. From the winding salad bar to the very respectable $16.99 lunch price, you know why you're here and are ready to go with it all. There are many premade salads, along with a huge selection of salad ingredients to make your own or add to the premade ones. The soups are a tribute to many of what Souplantation had, ranging from chicken noodle to chili, along with a couple new ones that add to the variety offered. Next to the soup is a pasta bar with classic selections like mac and cheese and tomato sauce pasta. The baked goods bar has a lot of familiar favorites, from pizza bread to cornbread (with whipped honey butter!!!). The dessert options are plentiful enough to round off a solid meal This place is the definition of nostalgia. Yes it may be far for a lot of us, but a trek out here and you'll have no regrets about coming out here to experience what we all deeply have missed. Be ready for a wait, but it will be worth it!

Yelp
I was sooo excited to try soup n' fresh. Huge Sweet Tomatoes/Soup Plantation (RIP) fan right here! The day we went it wasn't too crowded and line moved quickly. The salad bar options were awesome and maybe even slightly more diverse than Sweet Tomatoes. The tuna salad pasta (my fave) was good but little more runny and fishy than I like. They had good pasta and soup options. I mixed cream of mushroom with chicken noodle soup (my go to)! The breads and muffins were not as good as Sweet tomatoes unfortunately. The cornbread was dry and so was the brownie but the carrot cake muffin was great. I got my tapioca pudding and jello craving fulfilled. Ice cream was decent but they only had dairy free ice cream so it wasn't my favorite. All of the items were stocked up whenever we went for food and the place was clean. Overall I will definitely go back again

Yelp
Finally made it to Soup 'N Fresh. It has been open for a while, but still busy on the weekends. Went on a Saturday at 10 am and there was already a line (it opens at 10:30)! You get two hours to dine in. The line moved pretty quick but by the time we were done eating the line was out the street. It is exactly like Souplantation with a buffet of salads, soups, pastas, baked goods, and yes, the whipped honey butter too!

Yelp
This place gets crowded so come early or make a reservation online if possible. When I went they were testing OpenTable reservations. The man at the front said he wasn't sure if they'll continue using OpenTable. This place reminds me of souplantation, pick up a tray and plate then make your salad, grab some soup or pasta and bread with ice cream or fruit as a dessert. The best item for me was the mushroom soup. That was delicious. The corn bread was good as well. I only tried the spaghetti and that was ok, I'd skip it next time. I did like that they had baked potatoes or sweet potatoes in the bread section. Overall I would come back. They have a nice selection of food to customize to your liking. There's enough enjoyable options per each section that makes the price to eat worth it.

Yelp
Happy to see a place open that reminds you of Souplantation. Got to try it out with friends on a Saturday night and ended up waiting for about an hour. Line was pretty long since it was still fresh on people's minds as the new Souplantation spot so it was expected. Upon entering - literally looks just like Souplantation. Everything inside even down to the offerings is like a replica of Souplantation. It's hard to not compare Soup 'n Fresh to Souplantation since it's literally the same. Food quality is good for what it is. Things are fresh and clean. Soups tasted good and have the classic favorites people probably miss seeing. Overall things here are good and on par with what Souplantation had to offer in terms of items and quality. It's good and I hope more locations can open, but I wouldn't wait an hour for this again.

Yelp
So glad to have Soup N Freshhh!!! Stopped by a couple times already and it's always been a hit. It honestly has almosttt everything Souplantation had, but even tastier pasta to be honest (probably more cream,..butter...seasonings lol)... This place will definitely satisfy your cravings for the soups, salads, pastas, hot food section of baked potatoes, cheese bread, and some desserts as well that we've all been missing since covid! The line can get pretty long during the rushes so be prepared to wait. The staff does a pretty good job at efficiently moving the lines though and filling up the food stations, which is awesome and makes the drive here sooo worth it. This business is looking pretty successful, so I hope they start expanding soon! By the way, there's a 10% discount for military, teachers, and healthcare per person, just show your badge in person or if you have a picture of it on your phone ! :)

Yelp
I tried it. Wow this is fun, though the soups were just ok. I hadn't been to souplantation for 30 years likely so can't compare. I fill up easy so I don't usually get value from an AYCE place but the price is very good so I don't feel ripped off here. And you get a small discount for 55+. When you enter you are routed right to the salad bar to start --the cashier is at the end and will give you your drink cups (extra charge). Another employee will lead you to a table. We didn't have to wait but the door was locked until we walked up--crowd control meant it was busy but tolerable at 3pm on a weekday. It kind of like a nice coffee shop inside. Parking in the lot may be tough. There are a few prepared salads and you have a dazzling array of individual greens and toppings. I was interested in the tuna pasta but tasted only like sweet relish in thin mayo, no tuna detected. But there's a Cesar and an Asian (chicken optional) salad. Spinach, mushrooms, red onion, egg, peas, shredded carrot and radish, beet cubes, kidney beans, cheese and much more to build your own. About 6 kinds of salad dressing. There were 8 or so soups, the bone broth chicken noodle was good, the minestrone was overpowered with celery and I was too full but there was Chili, clam chowder, pozole, cream of mushroom and more. There were 3 pastas (Alfredo, red sauce, Mac n cheese) but didn't look too appealing The bread bar has sliced French, whole grain, pizza and cheese flatbreads on a warmer, which were great, and different muffins, corn and chocolate. I had a gingerbread muffin with honey butter and it was like dessert. There are foil wrapped baked potatoes and sweet potatoes, topping are next to the soup, wish I'd had room. A fruit bar was less enticing but also has tapioca pudding and jello. Finally, we enjoyed softee cones, I did vanilla and chocolate swirl to go.

Yelp
Interior Exact replica of Souplantation. I wish they had one closer in OC or LA at least. I would go all the time. I hope they expand it someday. Loved everything about this place. But you gotta get there early or else you'll be waiting for a bit. But we didn't have to wait that long. Maybe like 30min as most. But always my Go To whenever I am in San Bernardino. Food is amazing and fresh. I love the pasta the most. and the cheese bread and blue berry muffin. Chef's kiss ! muah!

Yelp
Oh how I've missed *good quality* buffets! This place is reminiscent of the pre-covid buffets like SouPlantation / Sweet Tomatoes. My boyfriend found this place and we've been a few times already. The food is fresh and good quality, making it worth it to drive all the way from OC.

Yelp
Soup N' Fresh is Souplantation reincarnated. Many of the same items, but also some new ones. Loved the tuna pasta salad and the broccoli salad. They have the prepared Asian chicken salad, but I like souplantation's version better. I looked, but I couldn't find any chicken in it. The soups were all delicious (broccoli cheese, crm of mushroom, albondigas, chili, lentil, and minestrone). The bread section consisted of blueberry muffins, chocolate muffins, cornbread, cheesy garlic bread, pizza bread, sourdough and wheat sliced bread. Also had baked potatoes and baked sweet potatoes. Dessert was fruit, pudding, or soft serve ice cream. There is caramel and chocolate sauce and cookies and sprinkles for toppings. You can eat your ice cream out of a bowl or a cone. I saw many people using water cups for soda and juices. It's sad that people feel the need to steal instead of paying a couple dollars. There was no wait at 6pm on Halloween, but the place stayed packed the whole time we were there. The place is bright, modern, and crisp. Workers were cleaning nonstop. Our finished plates were picked up quickly, the dirty tables didn't stay dirty for long, so kudos to the staff and management team, you guys are amazing!

Yelp
First time here, restaurant was clean and wiped down routinely around the salad bar items. Salad was fresh and vegetables were fresh as well. Price for dinner was $18.99 and $3.29 for a soft drink. They had a waitstaff walk around collecting empty dirty plates. Was good but a little pricy for what it offers. Would come again.

Yelp
As a Souplantation dupe, this place exceeded my expectations! Dare I say even better than the original, because everything here from the salad options, soups, and breads was SO fresh- the workers were pumping out servings left and right. Coming from a Souplantation regular, the food was so nostalgic and delicious. I got all my usual dishes, including the mac and cheese and chicken noodle soup which tasted even better than the original! Despite waiting 30+ minutes in line, I loved how efficient their system was getting people in and out. The workers were quick to clean everything up and I truly have no complaints! Loved how the layout was the exact same so it felt like I was back at my local souplantation despite being an hour away lol

Yelp
We came on a Tuesday around 4pm and there was no line at all. The food was was really good. I enjoyed the pasta, soup, and cheesy bread. I highly recommend the clam chowder, cream of mushroom, chili, and Pazole soups. The inside is very clean and the staff is nice. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This place is sooooo popular! We drove nearly 50 miles for this meal and it was so worth it. Every bite tasted like nostalgia. Plan for long wait times, especially on the weekends. We arrived at 7pm and didn't get in until 8:30pm. Considering the volume of people, they did a great job of making sure food was always coming out hot and fresh. The only options for a meat protein are if you eat some of the soups, so the place is a haven for vegetarians. With it being so popular, I'm shocked they haven't expanded yet. For only $20 per adult for dinner, it's a steal.

Yelp
Soup 'n Fresh brings back all the nostalgia of going to Souplantation as a kid. They have replicated the salads exactly and their soup is pretty close as well. They do have more variety than Souplantation did and their baked goods are solid. My only complaint for the food is that the Mac and cheese(which was my favorite back in the day) isn't as smooth and creamy as Souplantation's. We did wait over an hour and half when we went at around 5:30 but it was worth it. Wonderful experience overall and I hope they will be able to open more locations!
