This is my first year in NYC, I moved in the middle of December and the first thing I noticed was the dark frigidity of the winter. An unceasing cold which chills the bones and fills the heart despair. At its height, just when my hope was reaching it's lowest point, there it was: Soup Side. I never considered myself much of a soup guy, but this place really flipped the script on what was a life long ambivalence to the concept. The tomato soup and grilled cheese nourished my body and warmed my soul in a way that has made the cold, long winter just a little more bearable. A commitment to healthy ingredients, excellent timely service, and delicious food have made this my favorite lunch spot for those days where the dreary weather brings me down. Cannot recommend enough.
