Sour Seed Bagels - Review - West Palm Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"Sour Seed moved to West Palm from Miami, where it first debuted its sourdough bagels. They are flatter and crispier than their yeasty brethren, with a discernible tang in the dough. It’s a small takeout-only operation with a few tables outside and a tight menu that includes about a dozen bagel sandwiches, coffee, and matcha—all served out of a window. Just look for the perpetually long line of PBA students and gym rats on Fern Street, and you’ve found it. Go early if you want the full spectrum of bagels: sesame, everything, or rosemary. But the smoked river trout with pickled onions and dill tastes great on any bagel (especially with their preserved lemon and chili cream cheese)." - Virginia Otazo

Google
The bagels were good, they are heavily toasted and decent overall. They also offer vegan cream cheese which is a huge plus. But expect to pay more than in NYC. Two bagels and two iced coffees came out to $40. Unfortunately, the staff wasn’t friendly at all, and it really shows. The manager or owner should seriously work on customer service. I think this was a one time visit for me, especially with more bagel places opening up soon.

Google
This is hands down the BEST bagels I’ve ever had. Sour Seed Bagels is exactly what WPB was missing. You can taste the freshness and quality in every bite, and the price is perfect for what youre getting. The owner and the staff are genuinely so kind which makes the whole experience even better. Also the banana muffins… a must try!!!

Sour Seed Bagels is an absolute gem in West Palm! Grabbed an everything bagel with scallion this morning and it was Insanely fresh — warm, crackly crust, that perfect texture you only get from real sourdough (which makes sour seed very unique). The staff (especially the owner Chris) was super friendly and fast. I also tried the matcha latte — creamy, earthy, not overly sweet, easily one of the best I’ve had in Florida.11/10 recommend if you're in the area.

Google
Coming from Orlando to palm beach for the weekend we had to stop by sour seed bagels . Best sourdough bagels I have ever had and there are not many places like this one . The ingredients are top notch and everything was spot on .. definitely worth what you pay. Both times we came everything tasted just as good as the first day we tried it . The salmon Lox bagel , Raspberry jam + butter bagel , and breakfast bagel were delicious !

•  Latest Visit (July 27) – Egg Salad + Coffee Win “On our latest visit, we tried the egg salad bagel for the first time — incredibly fresh, light yet creamy, beautifully presented with vibrant dill and a dusting of smoked paprika, all on a perfectly baked, chewy bagel that shows the signature care and precision Chris and his team bring to every plate — and as always, the bold, smooth organic black coffee was absolutely on point.” • A True Gem in West Palm – First Visit Highlights “In the heart of West Palm Beach lies Sour Seed Bagels—a small, standout spot known for its commitment to quality. The bagels are genuinely excellent, with a sourdough crunch that delivers on texture and flavor. The organic black coffee remains exceptional—bold, smooth, and carefully brewed. The ingredients used, particularly in items like the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Cold Smoked Salmon bagel, are top-tier and thoughtfully assembled. It’s clear that Chris, the owner, is meticulous about sourcing and quality. However, a few realities need to be acknowledged. The pricing leans high, and the wait time can stretch anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, even for a basic order. There’s no indoor seating and only limited outdoor tables on a narrow sidewalk, which makes eating in a challenge (though I’ve heard plans are in the works to expand with a raised deck — a great improvement that’s on the horizon). At the time of writing, the online ordering system is not user-friendly and feels poorly thought out. There’s no dedicated pickup line for online orders, which adds to the overall wait and confusion. With the level of care shown in the food itself, I’m hopeful this side of the experience will be improved in the near future. Most of the staff are fantastic—professional, upbeat, and efficient. But there is one exception. The lead cashier consistently delivers an experience that feels more like a checkpoint than a welcome. Her dismissive and combative demeanor is out of step with the otherwise warm environment. Frankly, she’d be more at home enforcing rules at a detention facility than representing the face of a customer-focused business (Update: The one staff member who didn’t reflect that energy is no longer there, and the overall vibe of the place feels even better now.) Sour Seed Bagels is already a standout — a place where top-quality ingredients, thoughtful execution, and real passion come together. With every visit, it feels more and more like one of West Palm’s true gems.

Google
Had such a wonderful time at Sour Seed! The bagels were fantastic — we tried almost the whole menu as a group and everything tasted perfect and fresh. Big highlights: trout and tuna! You won’t regret it! Friendly and welcoming service ❤️❤️❤️

Google
One of the best bagels I’ve ever had! I can’t have dairy or eggs so it was so nice that they have a vegan cream cheese offering. They also make their syrups for coffee with coconut sugar, which is amazing since I can’t have a ton of sugar. Such a great spot!

Google
My co-worker picked up lunch for all of us today and it was SO YUMMY!! I ordered the Palm Beach Fog as my drink and the lady at the register was so kind, she gave us some vanilla syrup to add to my drink since it's not normally sweet. My co-worker said that she went above and beyond to be accommodating and kind! As for food, I got the Simple Smoked Salmon Bagel and the flavors were BEYOND! A tip I will say for anyone new, order something flavorful and crazy. You get more value for your money that way!

Yelp
not sure why this place is rated 3.9. they're honestly serve very high quality food and i'm very happy i've found them. i'm very hard on restaurants and how i critique them. sour seed cares about the quality of food and service. i hope they expand and maintain that same level of quality.

Yelp
There is a reason for standing in line: Fresh Yumminess!!! Disappointed that it is single bagel only, no Baker's Dozen here. Still, it is worthy of your time. The staff bends over backwards to make you feel appreciated. Our bagel sandwiches were stunning.

Yelp
10/10 best bagels in Florida but the biggest ripoff ever for a bagel! This place really is delicious and it's the best bagel you can buy in South Florida. It's all homemade and super fresh and beyond amazing. All the ingredients from the lox to the tomatoes are so fresh and amazing. They even have gluten free bagels that are really good. For 2 bagels and a small strawberry smoothie + an orange juice was $68.... That's beyond insane. I mean yes it was amazing but $68 for 2 bagels is outrageous. I'm happy I came here but I won't be coming back because of the prices for a bagel...

Yelp
Me and the wifey wanted to just share a bagel sandwich. $18+ with tip and getting a burnt mess with no taste. How is this place so busy? Service is also very slow. The outdoor seating gives the place the one star. And the bacon only. Place is definitely not worth the hype.
google avatar

Jacob F.

Yelp
For $34 you can get a matcha and a gluten free bagel with tomato. Not sure how I feel if it's worth it considering you can get pop up bagels in palm beach for $40 a dozen plus 2 smears. (Again pop up is expensive but sour seed makes it seem like a great deal. They were sold out of everything else before 11 so come early if you want preference. Also opens at 8 most bagel shops open around 6. The staff was nice and helpful but I wasn't left amazed. It was good nothing great I feel the hype is a bit overrated for price. The food was mediocre

Ashley Z.

Yelp
Perfect for breakfast on the go! Although these bagel sandwiches are pricey, they are delicious and worth every penny! Probably the best bacon, egg, and cheese bagel I've had. The bagel was toasted perfectly, the eggs were very flavorful, and the bacon was thick and crisp. There is no indoor seating. You must order and wait for your food outside as well.
google avatar

Viv V.

Yelp
Way over priced a bagel with bacon, egg and cheese with tip $18 no drinks. The bagel was way too toasty. Long wait and service was okay no issues there. Unfortunately we will not be back here.
google avatar

Zoe C.

Yelp
Best bagel I have had in South Florida. While the place is expensive, the bagels are fantastic. I would get the Simple Smoked Salmon on an Everything Bagel. The Iced Matcha Latte with Almond Milk had a weird taste to it, possibly due to the almond milk made in house. There is street parking available. The line tends to be long so be prepared to wait; however, the wait is worth it. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Worth the hour drive from Fort Lauderdale! My mom and I shared the Simple Smoked Salmon and the Butter + Jam on a sesame bagel and it was delicious! I was happy to see there was an option to substitute farm raised salmon for wild salmon - my favorite! My mom and I were raving about the strawberry jam - it tasted so fresh. We paired our bagels with iced matcha lattes which were so delicious! We also took home some bagels and the staff was kind enough to pack us an extra bagel. Keep in mind there is no indoor seating but there is seating outside. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Live T.

Yelp
The line is a little intimidating, but it goes quick. Make sure to save a table while you wait as there's only a few outdoor tables. The quality of food is very good, especially for Florida! We spent 100 dollars for 5 specialty bagels and one drink, so it's pricey. I loved the quality of ingredients such as pasture raised eggs, cashew cream cheese, wild smoked salmon. Bagels were very good as well, all sourdough (regular, sesame, and everything). Also, the coffee drinks deserve a shout out - strong latte, good quality milk options. I had an almond milk latte and it was great.

Yelp
The hype is real. The bagel breakfast sandwich is delicious and I've had to come back twice to get it. But note to anyone on a time crunch, if you see a line expect it to be a long wait. Saturday around the noon hour and it took 10 minutes to order and OVER 30 minutes waiting to get the order. I saw people in-front of me ask about their order too. Not sure if they are raising yeast back there but hard to understand how bagels could take so long
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Loved the organic and house made nature of the restaurant. Sourdough bagels were fabulous. Cold foams and flavorings for the coffee are made in house (no cheap pumps flavorings). If you care about the quality of the food you eat, give this place a try! Prices are worth it given the quality. Also, the horseradish cream cheese was a fun addition

Yelp
Sour Seed Bagels is my new favorite cafe of all time! Their sourdough bagels, fermented overnight, are incredible--even the gluten-free one is to die for! My friends and I have tried almost everything, and our favorites are the breakfast sandwich, simple smoked salmon, and egg salad bagels. The horseradish & chive, dill parsley & chive, and scallion cream cheeses are actually life-changing. Also love the option for wild-caught smoked salmon! Have never seen that option at a bagel shop before ever!!! The housemade jams are also so crazy good. I wish I could buy them by the jar! I love that they use mostly organic ingredients, including ceremonial-grade matcha and housemade syrups with no cane sugar. The iced Chagaccino mushroom latte was amazing, but my top drinks are the house matcha and Palm Beach Fog. All also lifeee-changing! (Love that they offer monk fruit as a sweetener!!) You can tell there was so much heart and soul put into this spot. The staff is friendly and fast, making every visit a joy. They even brought us samples of their organic fresh pressed orange juice while we waited for our bagels. The outdoor seating in the sunshine is so perfect. Wishing the absolute best for this small business--I'll be back every day!

Yelp
Terrible food. Terrible service. I met the owner and he was so rude as well, he was creepy with my young daughter. The place was dirty as well. I really do not understand why people will pay $18 for a bagel you can get at an nyc bodega for $5
google avatar

Yelp
I really love this place. Just tried it for the first time today. I had the tuna salad everything bagel with cashew cream cheese and my dad had the breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel with regular cream cheese. We both enjoyed our meals. The employees were really nice. There are a few tables with umbrellas that provide nice shade while eating. I recommend coming during the weekdays since the line is shorter than on the weekends.
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
Five stars for quality! I love the bagels* and appreciate the fresh ingredients and care in preparation (usually). The best sourdough bagel I've tried. Minus one star for astronomical prices (e.g., $15 cream cheese and tomato on a bagel - despite whole bagel being $3.50, $10 orange juice), compulsory service fee (including on things like bottled OJ, unprepared whole bagels to go) and long wait for things like aforementioned whole bagels to go, despite sooooo many people working. Tried the iced coffee once, it was way watery so I haven't repeated. For any other place, I'd remove more stars for these issues and probably not return, but I like the staff and it takes minimal effort to get there‍. It's new, hopefully they'll work these things out. *If you're expecting real bagels, these are not it! They're sourdough, great if you have gluten sensitivity but for that reason, don't have the same texture or flavor as an H&H or PopUp bagel.

Yelp
I live around the corner, and this place got a lot of rave reviews on facebook, so I had to try it. Makeb's is directly across the street from my condo, so that's been my go to place. Maybe I'm not a gluten free kind of guy, but I was disapointed with the bagels. My 2 out of town visitors agreed with me. Very busy for a brand new place, and I want them to be successful. You order from a sidewalk window, and they have outdoor seating on the sidewalk. First of all, they only have 4 kinds of bagels. Plain, Everything, Sesame, and one other I forgot. Makebs must have about 20 kinds of bagels. I did not like the taste compared to Makebs. And a lot more expensive. Makeb's is about $2.70 for one bagel, and I always put the change in the tip jar. Sour Seed cost me over $13 for 3 bagels, including a 15% prompted tip on the credit card machine. So that's $9 for 3 bagels at Makebs in my favorite onion or garlic flavor, or over $13 at Sour Seed. Including tips. That's 45% more than Makeb's, without the flavors I like. If you are looking to pick up a bagel or breakfast on your way to work, Makeb's opens at 6am. Sour Seed opens at 8am. Not a factor for me, but just wanted to mention it.

Yelp
Brand new bagel place downtown - amazing! It's a storefront with a window, no inside seating, where you order at the window and sit outside! The bagels are phenomenal, I love that they have GF options. If you go on the weekends, the line is pretty long so FYI
google avatar

Kali F.

Yelp
Great options for gluten and dairy free! Will be back all the time. The line is long but moves fairly quick. Looking forward to this being so close

Shari S.

Yelp
Amazing bagels!! Even better than Fairway bagels in Ny/NJ and Fair Lawn bagels ( the best bagels ever). Definitely the best bagels I have had in South Florida.Love how the everything bagels are fully coated on both sides . I just wish that they would make a salt bagel!

Michael S.

Yelp
Sour Seed Bagels - More Hype Than Substance The bagels here are... fine. Nothing special, certainly not worth the wait or the attitude. Service is painfully slow, and the staff act like they're doing you a favor by acknowledging your existence. It's got serious Soup Nazi energy -- only this time, there's no soup worth lining up for. The hype seems entirely manufactured -- fueled by slick social media posts, likely some comped influencers, and a flood of questionable five-star reviews. In reality, the bagels are average at best, and the toppings don't measure up to what you'd get at a decent chain deli. Honestly, I don't get it. Why stand in line for a mediocre bagel when Brooklyn Babies of Makabe's delivers better food, no nonsense, and no wait? Once H&H Bagels opens nearby, I wouldn't be surprised if Sour Seed quietly closes its doors. Don't believe the buzz. If you want great bagels without the ego trip, look elsewhere.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The best bagel I've ever had! Had the breakfast sandwich on a rosemary bagel and it was perfection. My friends ordered the smoked salmon bagel and also loved it. You'll have to wait in line for 20-30 min, but it's so worth it. Can't wait to go back!

Sean R.

Yelp
It's a bagel, so the gap from a decent bagel to a great one is not a big one...certainly not enough to warrant the prices they charge. There isn't anything special enough about the place to make me think they will still be around in 2 years after the hipster fad appeal has worn off.
google avatar

M B.

Yelp
Great bagels and breakfast sandwich, will go again soon. Definitely on the permanent rotation.

Michael A.

Yelp
Living in the same building as Sourseed Bagels should honestly come with a warning label. Every morning when I take my dog out, I'm assaulted by the delicious smell of freshly baked bagels. Specifically, the horseradish cream cheese is wildly addictive. Pair it with their bagel and salmon combo and you've got a breakfast! No, it's not Goldberg's in Southampton--but let's be real, for West Palm, nothing else even comes close. Especially now that Makeb's Bagels (RIP) across the street feels like an abandoned relic from a pre-bagel era. They call out your order number over a speaker system like I'm at the DMV. The staff at Sourseed? Incredibly friendly and always hustling behind that little order window, even when the line wraps around the building. As for the people whining about prices--welcome to 2025. If you're okay paying $25 for a cocktail in Palm Beach, you can handle $10 for a bagel masterpiece. Sourseed isn't just a bagel shop--it's a daily temptation I've come to accept... and honestly, I'm not mad about it.

Colleen C.

Yelp
This is a boutique bagel experience- The combinations are curated and incredibly fresh. Can't imagine comparing it to a generic, mass produced product, it's incomparable. What a quality addition to the neighborhood! Best of luck!
google avatar

Ariel C.

Yelp
Bagels are small and insanely overpriced. Not worth the hype at all. Makebs bagels next door are a million times better

Marlee L.

Yelp
You guys are awesome!!! Delicious matcha everyone was so sweet I can't wait to come back. Such a cute little walk up counter.

Rachael S.

Yelp
My Granddaughter came for a visit to Tampa this past weekend and brought the most delicious Sour Seed Bagels from this new shop in her area. Absolutely outstanding! My favorite is the Everything Bagel.. She also brought some of the cream cheeses they have. The horseradish cream cheese is fantastic. I had never experienced a sour seed bagel before. They are the best bagels I've ever had. Less "doughy" and far more flavorful than any I've ever had. Any chance of opening a store in Tampa? Everyone here loved them!

Fiks B.

Yelp
Just to start off the young lady at the front was extremely knowledgeable and patient while we decided on what to get!! Thank you!! Next we decided on the breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel (86'd the cream cheese).. We also ordered a smoked salmon + veggies on an everything bagel with the horseradish and chives cream cheese.. Lastly, we had a strawberry swirl smoothie... EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS and you can tell it was all made with love!!! While, a little on the pricey side, I suggest you RUN DON'T WALK to give this place a try!!!
google avatar

Robbie A.

Yelp
Pricey for an average bagel. Not worth the hype. Won't last long. No inside dining, you sit outside in the heat. Overpriced coffee. Very mid.

Cayden M.

Yelp
$16.82 for the most mediocre bagel & cream cheese/jelly I've ever eaten. No breakfast sandwich options. The long lines are an optical illusion; there's no inside area, moves quick. Hands down, the #1 top OVERRATED new restaurant of 2025. Go to Makebs, king.

Patti P.

Yelp
Great addition to neighborhood. Bagel is delicious and worth the price. Very flavorful, crispy and good cream cheese options.

Evelyn P.

Yelp
I love this new neighborhood bagel spot. I have tried multiple things on the menu and every single thing is 10/10. You can tell they put their heart and soul into every part of the menu. So happy to support this amazing small business!

Erica M.

Yelp
We found this cute bagel shop in downtown West Palm Beach and it was so good! Our bagels were so fresh and delicious and the staff was super sweet. Can't wait to go back!

Samantha B.

Yelp
This new bagel spot is AMAZING!!! We got the smoked salmon and veggie on a rosemary bagel and fresh orange juice and both were DELICIOUS! Huge portions and great quality. Staff super friendly too! Definitely will be back!

Daniel D.

Yelp
Well. My feelings on this place are mixed. The bagels are fine. But not any better than Brooklyn Water Bagels and certainly this place wouldn't ever get a second glance in NYC (of course that should not be the standard). But with a lot of pretentiousness and great marketing the popularity is insane. Long lines just before closing on Saturday afternoon is unheard of at a bagel place. The prices are insane. $3.50 for a plain bagel! Service was not great. I just wanted to try 2 simple plain bagels to go and waited 10 minutes after my order for them to bring it out. Yes, they were busy. Understood. I had to try it because of all the hoopla but definitely won't go back. They were nice enough to bring out smoothie samples to the people waiting outside and... meh. Ok at best. Nothing special. They really need to get real with pricing and perhaps sell bagels by the dozen at a reasonable price and maybe they will survive past this initial buzz of fashionable new places to visit.
