Google
Nice find and good service and food. Because of the Hookah upstairs they allow smoking in most areas… but the air filtration is great so you don’t smell it… I had some appetizers and the mint tea. The sliders were great and the shrimp dish was grand, even if there were few shrimp… sauce was wonderful with excellent bread rolls included. I would skip the desert options - cheesecake options just so-so… Loved the authentic music and vibe… I will return there when I’m in the area…

Google
Neighborhood staple. Really chill atmosphere to drink or enjoy hookah in away from (or before or after) some of the craziness of 18th street. Sunday bingo is a lot of fun. Staff is always so personable, especially Dennis who always makes sure everyone has what they need.

Google
Great spot for drinks and food. I’ve been looking for a great Mediterranean restaurant close to me and I found it! The owner is super friendly and caring; felt so welcome.

Google
The booths go all the way around upstairs and they are so comfortable. Get your hookah on and enjoy the night with great drinks and laughter. Best place for a party, event, date or just some solo time. The manager John is a delight and definitely with coming back to chat it up with.

Google
Food and atmosphere were to notch. During a crowded DC night, this was a nice low-key place to been with hookah, great drinks, and good energy. I would recommend the hookah simply based on the prices in comparison to other locations. The process of having multiple waiters got a tad bit confusing, but there was always someone to help us! Recommendations: Calamari, Baked Salmon, and Lamb Sliders

Google
It all began with the OH mai tai, oh my goodness 🥲 SO refreshing. We had the shrimp tagine, and it was a perfect pair. Our bartender Hiram was a badass, and without asking kept us on off-beat cocktails he created himself, which was really impressive. Really special when someone can read your vibe, and make your night perfect. We will be back 💯

Google
Terrible experience with the hookah here. The bowl was packed poorly and tasted burnt from the very first pull, with no actual flavor coming through. I sent it back twice, but it was returned in the same condition each time. Clearly, no effort was made to correct the issue or repack it properly. For a restaurant that advertises hookah as part of the experience, I expected at least some level of quality control and customer care. Instead, the staff seemed uninterested in resolving the problem and offered no alternative or solution. This left me with a disappointing experience overall, and I cannot recommend this place if you’re coming for the hookah.

Google
Great bar for food hookah and drinks! Awesome atmosphere to kick back in. Ask for Golf at the bar he will take care of you! Betty and John are great folks too. Happy hour is 5 to 7 and sundy all day Happy hour

Yelp
Amazing restaurant and i had a great experience With all the staff specially our host amir sahri Very friendly bar

Yelp
Ive come to this place for the last time having left in disgust and would give them zero stars if I could. Hadn't been back in over six months and come late night for dinner as a last resort since they charge high prices for small portions, even charge for bread when standard complementary at other restaurants, and the bartender always has a foul attitude. What pushed me over the top tonight is after the waiters misquoted prices and reversed on offering complementary bread while increasing all their prices. and after a poor attitude from the bartender, I'm told they have mandatory 20% gratuity I'm forced to pay when being offered poor service. No way! And I won't be returning to give them another try and suggest there are much better options. Turned out I was treated better with good food and fair pricing at The Diner and with better service gave them over 20% tip!

Yelp
Dennis is the absolute best thing that has happened here.... Got a hookah, some food, he made sure we were very happy with our experience...

Yelp
We went for trivia so take this review as you see fit. We did intentionally not really get food since we were there for the event, but the servers kept coming around and making it seem like we had to order more than the round of drinks we had. The food was meh for the price and ambiance. I found the portions to be small and the hummus we ordered took way too long to come out. They didn't even check on us once the food came out. No one offered us water and we had to ask twice for it. They were quick to befriend the regulars, but I don't see us coming back again when there are better places around.

Yelp
Wish there was more seating, especially in the hotter seasons. With no fan outside, you're absolutely baking by sitting outside. Cocktails are decent, but expensive. Hookah lounge upstairs with sofa and service. Public restrooms. Service was interesting. Our server made a face when we asked to split the check. There was also a bit of a language barrier with accents and such. My guest enjoyed the cake they offer for dessert, but didn't finish it. Parking is rough.

Yelp
Yummy food, good service, and hookah? Wow. What a nice place to just sit and vibe with friends! Fries were the fave snack as they were amazingly crunchy and crisp! The fried Brie was to die for. I had never tried anything kind it! It was similar to a cinnamon apple pie but it's cheese on toast?? Wow. I was mind blown. The manager was also nice enough to take some shots with our table! Thank you! Will definitely have to come back!

Yelp
6 of us dined and hung out here for several hrs on a sat. evening. A friend is traveling to Morocco soon and wanted to try the counties food before going. We went upstairs which is lounge like and comfortable for a group. Later the the area became filled with hookah smokers. If you have trouble navigating stairs you may not want to venture up there. We ordered a variety of appetizers including pita and hummus (to be honest the hummus tasted store bought) and the pita bread was fluffy and served warm. The person who is traveling wanted to try the lamb on the menu and they didn't have any. She and a few others ended up ordering the jambalaya which was kind of comical--Moroccan jambalaya! I had the masculin salad which was huge (enough for 3) and enjoyed it. I also had mint tea which was served nicely and tasted great. It's sweetened upon arrival. We had a good time. Service was fine. I would return if in the area. Didn't take pictures!

Yelp
10/10! I had a blast & the restaurant experience was phenomenal! If you are looking for a vibe this the place... music, food, & hookah was it! BUT my favorite part was the manager John who took great care of us! Just moved to DC & I found my go to spot:)
google avatar

Rico H.

Yelp
I haven't been here in years but today's experience has me wanting more. The servers were so kind and made me blush on numerous occasions. If you looking for a spot with chill vibes, great food, and wonderful people then do yourself a favor and get yo butts in them seats!

Yelp
I have to say that despite this place being in one of the most popular streets in DC and open so late, it has still managed to impress me. Very nice and inviting staff to begin with, I had some of the best Moroccan tea I've ever had. The hookahs are really good and they offer a special pipe add on for $2 for smoother smoke (I'm forgetting what the name is). You can either sit downstairs and get a good view of the street or go upstairs, which I recently discovered and it's a very comfortable beautiful room. Easy 5/5 for me.

Bryant C.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem in DC. It has become my DC late night home. Great hookah, amazing food and better people. John (the manager) and Betty took amazing care of me and remembered me each time I came into town. If you're ever in DC...... please make it your business to come.
google avatar

Amber F.

Yelp
Two stars instead of one, only because it's a decent atmosphere. The food was terrible. I ordered the entire late-night menu, every thing was gross. The server disappeared on us several times and had to be retrieved for us to pay. The hookah was also very mid.

Kayla J.

Yelp
Let me talk about John for one second. He is fantastic! The hookah is 10/10 the best in the city! Music is not number 2; it's number 1. Stop everything you are doing and come here NOW.

Adrienne M.

Yelp
Shoutout to John and the staff at Soussi. My sister and I went in on a Saturday night and enjoyed the vibes, hospitality, food, hookah, drinks, & Moroccan tea. So good!! We had the calamari, hummus, and shrimp tagine as our starters. Delicious! The steak tagine as our entree, was exquisite, perfectly seasoned. It was a tad cold but John with his exceptional customer service provided us with a heater to make us more comfortable. We truly appreciated his dedication to providing a pleasant experience for our first time. We will certainly be back. Thank you!

Yelp
I came in here by accident last night thinking it was the Green Zone and decided to stay for a couple of drinks. Cassandra was awesome behind the bar and the regulars I met were very nice. If you're a cigarette or cigar smoker, you can smoke in here. It's also a Hookah lounge. I heard the food here is really good and the atmosphere is very cozy. I could see myself returning for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
We really enjoyed our hookah here. While I'd prefer that they not use the quick light round coals the quality of sheesha makes up for it. Also: they do let you mix up to two flavors in the base price for a hookah and charge 1.50 for extra coal. Just a heads up to anyone who is stopping in just for hookah. Cozy, relaxed ambiance without too much noise and friendly service even on a busy Friday night. We only got some fries to munch on and a couple drinks. I didn't really enjoy my Ketch express because I found it overwhelmingly lemony but my husband enjoyed the combination of Aperol and whiskey in his Positano cocktail. I'd come back when I'm in the area again, if for no other reason than to be able to peacefully enjoy a hookah amid the craziness that is Adam's Morgan on a weekend.

Yelp
Was walking around Adams Morgan and we came upon this place. Decided to do Hookah. We sat in the window at the front of the restaurant on the bar side. Hookah was chill. Beers in cans. Bathroom upstairs is TINY! There was a woman smoking , using an ashtray at the bar - that was weird lol. Haven't seen someone smoking indoors in about 2+ decades. DJ seemed to be the the bartender on his phone. He kept switching songs too much my taste

Nabil B.

Yelp
one of the dirtiest, unsanitary places I've ever been to. food taste awful, I was expecting Moroccan food. there's absolutely nothing Moroccan about this place except the name and the menu ite names. and their prices are outrageous. they charged me $21 worth of bread, $7 per loaf. stay away from this place it's a rip off. I saw a mouse running around. And the fourniture is sticky dirty. this place needs a health department visit. they're ruining Moroccan food reputation. They worst experience ever at eve level.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is beautiful. It isn't big enough to fit a whole lot of people but for its small size it's beautiful. Seatings we're comfortable, however, our table was wobbly, which was annoying. We ordered drinks and they were very good. The fries were delicious as well. Our server was very kind and kept checking up on us. Now the worst part... because of how small this place is, noise travels quickly and loud!!! The live music was way way way too loud that I had to yell to speak. Plus, with people talking and laughing out loud, the place was already loud as is, but the live music just made it way too loud inside. It's not comfortable to yell constantly. I was literally considering leaving because of how uncomfortably loud it was.

Yelp
Dropped by with a friend after leaving another bar in the area. We both wanted some hookah and this seemed to be the best option on 18th street. We went with the server's suggestion of blue mist mint. The flavor was good. It was my first time seeing an establishment charging for additional coals. We both ordered cocktails. Both drinks tasted watered down. The lighting was low, creating an intimate vibe upstairs in the lounge area. However, the air was blasting. Most people were visibly cold, including myself. I'd return for the hookah, but not the drinks.

Zazzley D.

Yelp
Like to note there's a $25 per person minimum on the weekend. Wasn't aware until after we ordered our drinks and the server told us, plus it's in fine print on the menu. The pan fried almond Brie and hummus were great appetizers. The bruschetta was alright, but wouldn't recommend. High balls and wine are half off for happy hour which is nice. Also be aware of people smoking or hookahing around you if that may be an issue.
google avatar

Mira R.

Yelp
I forgot to take a picture because we were so hungry but we had a great experience here! We came to see Azul Band perform and decided to get some food as well. We had the merguez sandwich and calamari, which were both amazing. The calamari is pan fried the traditional way leaving it with a great texture and not overly greasy. Great experience, will definitely come again and bring more friends.

April F.

Yelp
This place is a mess. They can't keep track of reservations or operate in an organized manor. The ac was leaking upstairs and the wait staff couldn't keep track of tabs. They had one bartender and double booked parties. They are not responsive to phone calls. Don't waste any money here.

Yelp
A nice outdoor hooka bar, but the food is not good. Soussi was recently renovated, and they did a great job. Being outdoors with a nice view of Adams Morgan is great. Super chill spot to hang out with friends, enjoy hooka, and have a few fun drinks. But the food was not good. My steak kabob was well seasoned but overcooked. The rice it came with was bland and undercooked. My fiancé enjoyed the sausage sandwich, but the bread was bad. This place would benefit from letting people (even encouraging people) to bring their own food and only serving smaller, tapas style, sides. I would love to sit here and eat a falafel from Amsterdam Falafel across the street. This would save a lot of money on overhead expenses and give the staff less to have to focus on. Or, in the alternative, they should learn how to cook. The service was not good. Our server went from repeatedly pestering us to place an order, to disappearing for a long while, not checking on us, and having to be repeatedly asked (after I got up from our table and looked for her) to get our check. The place was almost completely empty and several other staff members were there, so there really was no excuse. I also noticed that she wasn't providing ash changes as one would expect at a hooka bar. I would come back, but not for the food.

Rylee M.

Yelp
A great chill spot, and way to dive into the DC atmosphere. There's lots of bars and other restaurants in the area but this is a great way to chill relax get some good hookah with food and they're definitely not light on the drinks.
google avatar

Dennis T.

Yelp
Great new entree called "Golf Course". Spicey yet not . Simple yet flavorful and touches your soul. Delish!

Charles D.

Yelp
Came thru this space the other night and Jason and Tatgana were the most amazing hosts I've ever seen. Over delivered, experience was amazing. 5/5 will return.
google avatar

Angela G.

Yelp
Was recommended this place as a hookah lounge that makes you feel like you're not in DC. The recommendation was spot on! The trick is coming to the second floor lounge. The ambiance was soo chill, lit with candles, and comfy. Hookah was $35 and it was strong. We did not get food, but the menu has Moroccan options. Honestly, I felt too comfy in this spot I almost fell asleep lol. The music is not upbeat but that is fine, and service was slow but our server was nice. I would definitely come back here to catch up with friends and have a few drinks.
google avatar

Dahabina O.

Yelp
Service has really become poor for this place. I used to be a regular customer but not anymore. I was short on my tab so I had to give them my passport to scan. I'll tell you what though they're not getting that $63.85 because of how rude the manager was. "Ma'am your cough is bothering my customers you need to leave." The irony is none of the customers told me my cough bothered them. Oh so I coughed 3 times in a row so I have to get out? Last time that I checked hookah can and will make you cough it's something called a smokers cough. Anyways everyone forget Soussi go to Queens or Exotic for a fun and lit night. They got a club vibe it's better than this classy trashy spot that's for sure!
google avatar

Anne T.

Yelp
I'm not impress with the drinks and calamari. Just a boring area to go to. Decorations are out dated No available hand sanitizer
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
One of the only places in DC to smoke a cigarette at the bar. Decent food and they have hookah as well.
google avatar

Lucia R.

Yelp
I love this place. My man took me there. The food is to die for. We ordered Lamb Couscous and even though the sauce was a little too sweet for me, the meat was falling off the bone. We also had calamari and it was very tasty too. The Moroccan Mint tea was very delicious. I will add all the pictures. We sat on the second floor which was very cozy. You want to seat there if you are with an amazing date. The lights are deemed and each table has candle light. You can also smoke Hookah if you like. The waitress was very sweet. We felt very comfortable there!

Yelp
Looking for a hookah spot in Adams Morgan? This is the place! They have a really nice patio area and multiple flavors of hookah! They have a few tables inside with the bar and bathrooms upstairs. This place is in the heart of Adams Morgan and pretty popular. We got the mint and berry flavored hookah and their service was great because they kept coming back to make sure our hookah was good. Overall, I highly recommend for a nice chill vibe either in the day or night!

Khadra S.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The ambiance, the food and live music was exceptional. Our bartender Cassandra took care of us and made sure all of our needs were met - would definitely highly recommend!
google avatar

Meili L.

Yelp
In the mood to chill and relax? This is a cozy hookah place. They have two levels and open balcony in the summer. The flavors of the hookah are good and smooth. They have food menu too, but just know that the kitchen close before this place closes.

Oscar A.

Yelp
What decent hookah place still uses quick like charcoal enough said. Order tea, the cups are dirty overall disgusting left in five minutes with a big tab
google avatar

Keilon L.

Yelp
Good hookah, good food, and good atmosphere. All of these things bode well for this place. This is probably my most frequented spot in the city aside from a couple jumbo slice spots and liquor stores (but I digress). The more I visit, and depending on where in the restaurant/bar/lounge you find yourself, I can't tell if they're a hookah lounge that happens to have a good bar and restaurant attached, a bar that also allows hookah and serves food, or a restaurant with a good drink selection that also does hookah. And this is a good issue because whether you're on the enclosed dining patio with a gang of associates, at the bar getting to know complete strangers, or upstairs lounging with your closest friends, the atmosphere and the vibe is always right for whatever your mood may be. The food...has a diverse Mediterranean vibe. I've never had a dish I wasn't happy with. The waitstaff is pretty attentive and the drinks are typically strong. Happy hour is an option and the beer list, though not robust, has a decent range. I have no gripes about this place. Just don't drink too much as the stairs are kind of steep...
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
While I did like the food I ordered, I had a mostly disappointing experience. First of all, the patio area was SO LOUD, and it looked like they were allowing parties larger than six, which isn't supposed to happen during COVID restrictions. My friend and I had to shout at each other to have a conversation! When it was time to order, the restaurant was out of my first two choices of wine as well as the greens for the salad my friend wanted. It's a Saturday night when a lot of people are vaccinated and want to go out: wouldn't you be prepared for your customers? When our food showed up, my mussels did not come with the frites as stated on the menu; I asked the waiter about this, and he said he thought I had ordered the appetizer size, which doesn't come with fries. Why would he assume I picked the cheaper option?! Restaurants usually assume that I want the bigger, more expensive option so that they get more money (which in this case I did). BUT he didn't fix the order on the receipt, so I got the fries for the cheaper price! I'm glad I tried the restaurant, but I won't be going back.

Yelp
Update: December 8, 2016 --------------------------------------------------- I'm guessing I provided a great review for this establishment too soon. Since my first review, the wonderful Manager by the name of Hamuda has either been fired or quit along with many great servers. The owner, Sophia, is rarely present and she has her brothers (who are rude) oversee the business. Recently, my fiancé and I stopped visiting the place for a while bc the new servers lack the ability to be customer friendly. Just last weekend we visited the business with two other friends and were there to the close of business. Before our Uber arrived, I decided to use the restroom and when I came out the party I was with was outside in the cold. When I went outside they had informed that they were basically kicked out of the business. They had asked if they could stay in the facility until I came out of the bathroom so that they didn't have to wait in the cold and were told no. My fiancé realized that the "manager" looked like Sophia's (owner) brother. So, he asked the guy if he was related to Sophia and the guy said "don't worry about it". I am only giving this establishment two stars now because of the bartender, Marvin, who is great! I am done giving this establishment my money.

Darren C.

Yelp
Amazing spot! Good vibe, great food! And terrific service. We had Golf as our server and he really made it an experience. Definitely try the dish he created, Ka Prow chicken. Enjoy smoking a hookah with some friends on the patio or chilling on the pillows upstairs.

Yelp
This was my first time as Soussi and I loved the welcoming atmosphere and staff! They were so kind and attentive, which I appreciated late on a Friday night. We ordered some rounds of drinks, and my table ordered the Double Apple hookah for the table - such a great environment to sit and have a good time with friends! Appreciate that everyone got their own individual mouthpiece during COVID! We also got fries (SO good) and hummus (with hot fresh pita!!!). Only con is that smoking cigs is allowed indoors here, and the mixture of smoke really made my eyes itch so be prepared!

Nabil T.

Yelp
I am from the Middle East and a hookah smoker. I had the best hookah today (double apple/apricot with Soussi mint tea. Out of this

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place. If Soussi after dark were a person, it would be a tall, brooding, and handsome man of mystery. I know personifying this place is weird but it's just dang sexy! I came here on a Sunday night to meet a friend and we went to the second level to sit and have drinks. It wasn't crowded at all, save for a group next to us smoking hookah, aside from this, it was perfect; extremely dark, great music, and even better drinks. Seating is pretty low to the ground and fully stocked with pillows so it feels like you're in someone's very exotic house, I would definitely come back and suggest it for dates, group hangouts, whatever!

Yelp
This place was AWFUL! Went with a few girlfriends last night and we seriously got to the point of just bring us the check so we can get out of here. The hookah was subpar. I'm not an avid hookah girl, but I know I've had better. The top was so charred under the foil and our coal was burned on the bottom when we got it. The manager says we should have told the waitress sooner, but that was impossible because she only came back once in a blue moon. Took us 25 mins to get water and the drinks we did order were super weak. The dismissive service super sucked when you consider the 18.5%.gratuity that they add for parties of 5 or more. The waitress told us about the $15 pp minimum, but somehow missed the gratuity plug. What really took this evening straight to hell was the used pantyliner we found on the floor beside our table. I don't know how or why it was there, but even after we told the waitress it did not go away. The place was dirty, slow, and just not the experience we were looking for. There are so many options in DC. Soussi better step it up. Until they do, I'll pass and you should too.

Yelp
Came here for the Hookah and something to eat. Um. The Mescaline salad is so SO good! I actually had two. I highly recommend. My dining mate had the mozzarella and tomato salad...it didn't look as good (but it's not tomato season). The hookah was good but I don't have anything to compare it to bec I never had it before. Our waiter was attentive (he forgot our fries but that's ok cuz I had the two salads lol). The music was A+ (90s hip hop). Def would return.

Yelp
I've been to Soussi's a few times and loved everything about it--the vibe, music, service, food, drinks and shisha. But on Friday night I was extremely disappointed. My two friends and I arrived in Adams Morgan for the last drinks of the night at around 1 am. We wanted to order shisha, tea and food. We were told that the kitchen was closed, which was completely understandable, so we just asked for shisha and tea. They said tea wasn't available because the kitchen was closed, which we thought was really strange, given that tea is not hard to make and doesn't require a chef. So instead we order three cocktails. It took a half an hour for the drinks to arrive, the service was very slow, and they were absolutely undrinkable. It was clear they were carelessly made with no regard for the proportions of the ingredients. One of my friends ordered the gin cocktail and there was so much syrup it tasted like cough syrup. Me and my other friend ordered the spicy mezcal cocktail. It was sickeningly sweet and watery. When the waitress came with the check, I tried as politely as I could to let her know that the drinks we ordered were horrible--I mean she could see for herself we had barely touched them when we were closing out, they were all full. She then told me that my drink was "supposed to be spicy" because of the honey harissa, which was a weird way to respond because that's not at all what I had a problem with, and my friend's non-spicy gin drink was also bad. It kind of felt like she was implying I ordered a spicy drink and couldn't handle it, but that's not the case at all. I literally ordered it because I love spicy drinks. It tasted like cheap pink lemonade with some spice thrown in it, and neither me or my friend could force ourselves to drink any of it. To be clear, I've ordered plenty of cocktails I've been disappointed with and never complain, I usually drink as much as I can or give it to someone at the table who likes the flavor profile more than I do. In this case they were all so bad we couldn't drink any of them, and for the price on top of the slow service it was just unacceptable. We got charged $85 for shisha (which was great as usual) and three very expensive garbage cocktails that we didn't drink. I did not request we not be charged because frankly I expect any well run business to take feedback like this (and to see three drinks that three different people didn't touch at all) and do something about it. They should have taken at least one drink if not all of them off the check. I was the one who vouched for Soussi and we gave them business instead of other options, only to be completely taken advantage of. I felt so bad because we could have gone to green zone and had a better end to the night instead of feeling ripped off. I guess don't get the cocktails or never go there past midnight because the service is really bad.

Yelp
Wonderful place to chill out and smoke hookah after a stressful work day. Hookahs are to die for and the burgers are also sometimes else :) Going there now

Yelp
About 6 years ago this place had awesome music and awesome bartenders. Tonight (Sunday) I was in the mood for hookah and stopped in here hoping for an awesome time. Clearly their hey days are a thing of the past. I tried to stick with a simple drink that couldn't possibly be screwed up (Marguerita). Wrong. It was a watery mess. Bartender didn't ask if I wanted salt and they were out of straws Oh and the music...there a few bright spots but overall it was pretty horrendous. The best part of the eve was the hookah; pretty great tasting and clean smoke but the failure of the bartender or staff to bring fresh coals and out my need to flag the bartender's attention away from his phone to request a refresh killed that experience too. I've been here on a weekend before and remember a similar underwhelming experience. Unfortunately, I noticed the place next door (that clearly took their business and patrons seriously) after I'd just wasted a few hours and more than a few duckets. Next time I'll know better.

Charlie M.

Yelp
Had drinks, apps, and hookah here tonight. Drinks were excellent, food was great, but the service is what made the experience really memorable. Our server (young woman working the patio) was knowledgeable about the menu, had great recommendations, and made us both laugh multiple times. Will absolutely be returning.
