My first visit here was just okay, but the food and coffee quickly won me over. I went back a second time on a Saturday, and it was extremely busy. The younger staff at the front seemed a little dismissive, but I could tell they were probably overwhelmed with the crowd. What impressed me the most was how management handled things afterward. I received a survey, shared my honest feedback, and the owners responded right away. They addressed the issue with my order and took care of it quickly, which shows how attentive and committed they are to customer service. Now, let’s talk about the coffee and food…absolutely amazing. So far, I’ve tried their blueberry coffee drink, mocha latte, and dirty chai latte…each one a 10/10. Their avocado toast is also fantastic and definitely worth trying. My new favorite place for coffee and healthy treats!

I am always impressed with the speed and quality of my food and drink at South Block. It is so wonderful to have a quick and easy healthy alternative for lunch. The staff are all super friendly and nice. Always a great experience.

Google
South Block never misses! Every single order I’ve had here has been absolutely delicious — fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Whether it’s a smoothie, juice, or açaí bowl, the ingredients taste top-quality and perfectly balanced.

Google
I go here almost every weekend after my morning runs for a smoothie. Each smoothie is delicious and made with fresh ingredients. The staff are so nice too!

Candise J.

Google
South Block is so bomb! The açaí bowls are fresh, the smoothies are tasty, the restaurants are always clean, the staff are kind and helpful with placing orders, and the selections are plentiful.

Google
I visited this place several times when I was in Old Town Alexandria. It's a spacious and excellent spot to relax and enjoy delicious juices or smoothies after walking around. I like the murals on the wall; they give the place a unique feeling. However, every time I've been there, I've had to clean or wipe the table as it's always dirty.

Tyler B.

Google
Stopped in quick for an acia bowl. Loved the vibe, food was great.

Got a delicious greens drink and fabulous clean treats! Fun atmosphere.

Yelp
So I usually order south block and have it delivered to my house, but this time I was in the area and decided to go in person to the old town location. I feel like it's kind of a confusing layout. I came in and walked up to an area where I thought that they were supposed to take my order and both cashiers just kind of walked past me and just looked at me on girl and one boy looked like they may be teens. No one greeted at me or even asked me was I here to pick up or order.. I waited for almost ten mins then I saw a lady walk in maybe just coming back or clocking in for the day and finally I got some help. If there were arrows pointing to where to order it would've been a little easier to navigate especially for people who have never been there. I don't know if I'll go back in person again I'll just stick to ordering.

Yelp
Okay, so I'm not an açaí bowl connoisseur or anything, but I've tasted enough of them across the U.S. (and even abroad!) to know what I like. That said, the açaí here was a bit different. The consistency reminded me more of a smoothie than that thick, scoopable texture I usually go for. It's not necessarily bad--just not what I expected. Anyway, just my two cents. Everyone's taste is different, so if you love it, I get it! It's super chill, and there's plenty of space to enjoy yourself!

Yelp
I am a regular at South Block, and I finally got to try the strawberry smoothie that is a dupe of the Hailey Bieber Erewhon Smoothie, which I've had before in LA. I was honestly pleasantly surprised by it! I think the flavor profile is spot on and it really is a close comparison. While I do wish it had the coconut element to it instead of the oat whip I would get it again because it's refreshing and has just enough sweetness. I'm excited that South Block is experimenting/ developing new smoothies and can't wait to see what comes next!

Yelp
An acai bowl that meets my competition (Playa Bowl)! Love the add on options! Collagen and agave nice. I ordered the acai bowl with collagen and the green juice. Delicious and filling. Employees are really nice. Go, enjoy

Yelp
Stopped into South Blocm for an Açaí bowl. I was impressed with the variety of bowls that were ordered. Ordering was easy as there were a few kiosks to order or you could order at the counter. This location is across from a parking garage or there is some street parking near the store. I ordered a mermaid bowl and a piece of almond toast. The bowl was delish. I wish I added some almond butter to give it that extra layer of texture. If I am in the mood for a smoothie or another bowl I would definitely come back to South Block.

Yelp
If this place were near me, I would go daily. South Block was recommended by a couple of staff at the nearby Solidcore and it did not disappoint. They also have a Strawberry Cloud smoothie which is similar to the Hailey Bieber Erewhon smoothie. I ordered that and a bag of protein bits, and I enjoyed them. The place is huge, the staff is friendly, and they have a kiosk.

Yelp
In an ongoing effort to have a fresh and healthy meal, my friend and I chose to get lunch as South Block before exploring the town. It's across from one of the Colonial Parking garages (the one near the Torpedo Factory) in a shared building. There's plenty of space and a decent amount of seating. They also allow dogs inside too! The restroom had multiple stalls and was relatively clean. However, the music was a bit loud. I ended up ordering the Warrior Bowl and the wait wasn't too long. It was delicious and just enough to be filling. Overall my experience here was good and I wouldn't mind visiting again if I am in the area.

Yelp
Sooo, I've been looking for a delicious açaí bowl spot that reminds me of my wonderful first experience that I had back in Miami and I BELIEVE that I found it in South Block. South Block is located in Old Town Alexandria, walking distance from the water front. It is a cozy, casual spot that one can visit after a walk around Old Town or a nice hike. The workers here were all nice, warm, and friendly. There were two kiosk options to order food, along with the normal cashier alternatives. The kiosk options, however, allows you to see pictures of bowl/smoothie options, which may not be captured on the wall to aid in decision making. I opted for the delicious PBJ açaí bowl. The peanut butter wasn't overly dry or thick and the blend of the açaí was made perfectly. Additionally, the fruit was sweet. I was pleasantly surprised! So much so, that I definitely plan to be back. As it pertains to parking, if you are attempting to find parking near by, it may take some patience, however, there is plenty of parking available in a decent walking distance.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places, I come here nearly every Sunday, I've tried several bowls and they all taste great. Their fruit is always fresh. Their juices are also good. Their okay whip is delicious.

Yelp
Decided to stop by after walking the bridge this morning, and I'm glad I did. I've been hearing about this place a lot and it's been popping up all over my social media so I decided to stop by and give it a try. When I went inside, they have a very open concept and it's quite a few seats available. I wonder if when the weather breaks they have outdoor seating. The young lady at the register was nice and offered me some recommendations. I ordered the Nutella Bowl (with no blueberries and coconut) and the loaded egg avocado toast. They did NOT disappoint. The bowl was very fresh and the avocado toast had a nice salty flavor to it that wasn't overpowering. I would definitely come back!
google avatar

Adia B.

Yelp
Refreshing , tasty and awesome service . I went two day in row. I also recommend the loaded toast

John B.

Yelp
Place turns the music up sooooo loud in afternoon that you cannot have a conversation or hear yourself think. When I asked for an adjustment the staff person simply said "no'. Will never go back!

Yelp
BEST ACAI BOWLS I HAVE EVER HAD. I've tried so many Acai bowls in different places and the south block Acai bowls are by far my favorite ever! Service is always 10/10 and their bowls are consistently so good! I normally take my bowls to go but the vibes in there and the people are always super nice! Get the PB&J bowl if you like peanut butter. My boyfriend loves the Almond Butter bowl and adds whey protein! We've also tried their protein balls and bought their protein powder for at home smoothies !
google avatar

Rhea C.

Yelp
It was freezing outside and we're glad that we came across this place. Ordered their cappuccino and dirty matcha and they were fantastic! The place is clean and service was great.
google avatar

Nikki B.

Yelp
South Block as a special place in my heart. The açaí bowls are amazing. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the bowls and the products in the bowls and drinks. Give it try and you won't regret it. The establishment was clean and neat. The music could have been turned down a little bit but overall the customer service was great and so was the açaí bowl.
google avatar

Teri A.

Yelp
Yummy Açaí bowl with so much fruit toppings! Also the smoothies were exceptional. Service was spot on. Loved the cozy feel of the place.
google avatar

Christine G.

Yelp
Walked all the way from the metro to the water and back. On our way back, we stopped to cool off at South Block and I'm so happy we did! Had one of the best green smoothies I've ever had in my life! I even went over to the counter and thanked them it was so good! The vibes are laid back and a bunch of people were working on their laptops or having a casual conversation. Slightly hippie-ish but still upscale. Can't wait to go again!
google avatar

Jada H.

Yelp
Such a cool place to hang out and grab a smoothie. I love South Block and the staff is very friendly. Mostly street parking.
google avatar

Jackie V.

Yelp
Super nice staff! Great location to hangout and chat and plenty of space and tables. I had the warrior bowl - it was yummy! The iced latte was delicious and no up charge for oat milk was awesome.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
The acai bowl was delicious and the space is cute but the service was pretty horrendous. I came in and there was literally no one in line in front of me and only like 2 people sitting at tables in the place. They took over 20 minutes to make my acai bowl. I was dumbfounded. If it wasn't for the slowwwww service, they would get 5 stars
google avatar

Arielle H.

Yelp
While on my walk in old town, Alexandria, I ran across South Block. I decided to go in and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of options they had on the menu. I ordered a green smoothie and my cousin ordered a special tea bowl with mango, peanut butter, and other things. it was a bit of a weight, it was definitely worth it. I also like that they have a peer space upstairs that you can rent out and work remotely in. I definitely go back as the green smoothie was delicious and also made me feel healthy.
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
unfortunately, every time i get an açaí bowl at this location, the consistency is always watery rather than thick. hope this gets worked on soon... nonetheless, their service and atmosphere is good.
google avatar

James C.

Yelp
Sometimes you need some chia that is not a pet and some bees that do not sting and some collagen that doesnt fix wrinkles and some granola sprinkles.
google avatar

Lauren S.

Yelp
We stopped by this smoothie shop for a quick snack before lunch. The menu was a little short with not a lot of options but we got the peanut blast smoothie and thought it was good! Not overly sweet but that didn't bother us. Would go back to try their coffees and another smoothie

Hannah A.

Yelp
The drinks here are so good! I was instantly greeted when I walked through the door by the staff. Everyone there was so kind and enthusiastic to me and other customers. The overall vibe of the place was wonderful. I will be coming back and telling my friends!
google avatar

Yelp
Need a healthy food option in Alexandria?? South Block is the place to go. I happened to go on a Saturday. There were plenty of options to choose from. My only complaint was the parking. I drove around for 15 minutes and I was not able to find a park, and many of the streets are blocked due COVID outdoor dinning options. There is a parking garage across the street from South Block. I was able to ask the parking attendant if I could run in really quick and he mentioned it was okay. Otherwise the smoothie was great and I'll be back again for a quick healthy snack.
google avatar

Tiffany E.

Yelp
The way I go to bat for South Block is like no other. Because of them, I want a smoothie everyday! Their smoothies are ACTUALLY smooth and fresh! I enjoy the pink smoothie, the green smoothie with ginger and the Green Majoon smoothie (oh the dates!)! My other fave, which is no longer on the menu but should definitely make a come back, is the green glow with oat whip! So yummy! Looking forward to trying their fall pumpkin smoothie!

Yelp
Love this place but do not order delivery. They will not deliver your full order. Happened to me more than once so will not order delivery anymore.

Michael K.

Yelp
The loaded Egg Avocado Toast is amazing, I had an orgasmic sensory experience in my mouth. Thanks a lot . Top notch

C J.

Yelp
Service was quick & pleasant. The warrior mini bowl was just enough. Great consistency! There's plenty of space available to sit, eat & work & There's street parking available and a garage directly across the street.
google avatar

Ken C.

Yelp
The service need improvement. It wasn't even full with people, but they have non-stop orders. Somehow a simple smoothie still have to wait for 15 mins. I was a little disappointed. Also, fresh and healthy drink is not cheap. Somehow it was a a hot day, but their A/C just not cool enough. That's not a good sign for fresh fruit and cold drinks. The customer service was ok. The service process might need some improvement. Even there were many people making drinks and bowls, but either they are way too busy or with overload orders. This mean someone need to take a look at the business flow. Overall ok experience.
google avatar

Bielca S.

Yelp
No issues w service like others mentioned. Super green smoothie way too sweet for my liking.

Yelp
Another place for açaí bowls. It has plenty to choose from. South Block is a place to get fresh stuff. Has a few locations around DC. The one in Alexandria is the best it seems. Bowls galore in here. It has so many different ones. The açaí bowls are the best though. Each is full of nutrition. Though they can be sugary so don't get these too often. I came in recently with my female friend. We each tried a bowl and compared them. I had the Almond Butter Bowl. She had the PBJ Bowl, which was almost the same except for the one ingredient. The bowls are priced like they're a meal. It's about $11 for a bowl. They give you a lot though. It's pretty filling. The bowls we got had the frozen açaí purée. Both had so many toppings it was almost impossible to see the açaí. Good value. Along with the granola, there was the nut butter and fruit toppings. It sure was a lot. They were pricy but good too. I would sure come here again. It has such a big menu and more than just bowls. They have smoothies and there's salads as well.

Yelp
I LOVE southblock! I'm addicted to the fresh ingredients and good vibes that the chain puts out into the community! I regularly, went to the Vienna location - but since I was in the area for work, I decided to pop into the Old Town Alexandria location. I was very excited to see "other" options for breakfast on the Old Town Alexandria South Block menu. I had to, of course, order my acai bowl - California style and a Mango smoothie for my guy. We decided to try two of the toast that they had- peanut butter, banana and honey plus the avacado toast. I was really disappointed with the toast. First - the pickup window here does not flow very well. Some people were calling names, while others were calling orders. People were picking up the wrong orders. Our toast never got called - and instead was placed as a to-go order at the top of the silver assembly stand against the back wall. After our meals my guy had to go and ask for it. They apologized, saying they got confused and thought the person was picking it up later. When we got it - it was not toast. It was soggy and it dipped when you tried to pick it up. Not very enjoyable at all. I would have loved to see actual slices of avocado on the top of my bread - it was just a spread. Spread is ok - but a few wholesome slides would have been a better presentation and more appeasing. Overall, I was super happy with the acai bowl and my guy really liked his mango smoothie.

Yelp
Came here a few weeks ago on a lovely Sunday morning after walking a couple of miles in Alexandria. We were a little hungry so we popped in for coffee and were surprised by a full food menu! We had the avocado toast which was topped with sliced egg, micro greens and chili flakes. Be mindful its only one slice of toast BUTTTTT somehow very filling! We also ordered the mermaid bowl which was absolutely delicious - instead of an açaí bowl it was all blended fruit topped with blueberries and granola - so yummy! The real star was my wife's latte. Those beans were so insane and, as a coffee lover, I know a damn good coffee bean when I have one. One star knocked off because the encounter with one of the young ladies who worked there wasnt that great but I will chalk it up to them being busy!
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
In need of a bit of energy after walking around Alexandria for the last several hours now. We hit all of old town, market square and the waterfront too. We ordered the cave monkey and the super green smoothies here. The super green and peanut blast sounded good. There's actually a lot of smoothies here I would love to try, but alas there's only two of us. There are additional smoothies on the to go menu. They are busy and constantly putting out a smoothie or coffee, right or left. It's like a factory in here. One lady cleans the dishes. Another lady goes around to all of the doors cleaning constantly. The super green isn't bad, but I liked the cave monkey better. I should stick to the peanut ones, I tend to always like the peanut butter and chocolate smoothies best.

Angelin C.

Yelp
The atmosphere was super chill, with bright décor and friendly staff who made great recommendations. The place has a real community vibe!

Bryan H.

Yelp
Great place for a healthy option amidst all the bars and restaurants at the Old Town Waterfront. I go here about once a week and it never misses. My favorite bowl is the Aloha Bowl.
google avatar

Ebony J.

Yelp
I love this place...well the smoothies! They are a bit more on the pricey side, but I've never received a smoothie that I didn't like from here. I also get the loaded avocado toast that is extremely tasty. I usually order through the app, so when I pick up my food, I just go to the counter and pick up my order with my name on it. The only downside is that the people at the counter don't speak unless you speak first. Otherwise, I recommend this place.
google avatar

Jacque R.

Yelp
Excellent customer service and delicious juices. Nicca was very helpful at describing the smoothies along with the açaí bowls. Outstanding customer service and the ambiance is very cool. Will def be back!
google avatar

Haley C.

Yelp
Really neat spot for some yummy açaí bowls!! Their "smaller" bowl is actually massive so you could definitely buy 1 for 2 people! The atmosphere is really modern and perfect for getting some work done while enjoying your yummy treat! I usually opt for their Nutella Bowl - major sweet tooth over here :) The menu offers a wide variety of other things besides açaí bowls as well! So something for everyone!
google avatar

Jamae S.

Yelp
BEST JUICE IVE HAD IN MY LIFE!!! High quality products, people, and juices !! I've tried many juices and smoothies especially when in the west coast. South block: u take the cake!!!

Lina T.

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend for a local foodie social gathering. I had been to the Georgetown location, where the service was pretty terrible so I had low expectations coming to this location. Parking was a bit of a hassle, pay attention to all the street signs so you don't get a ticket! Upon entering this location, there is lots and lots of seating available. There are huge menu signs next to the cash register, the staff here were friendly and kept the line moving quickly. FYI - no cash is accepted here. I ordered the PBJ Acai Bowl which comes blended with organic acai, peanut butter, banana, blueberry and almond milk and topped with handmade Granola, blueberries and bananas. All of the ingredients were super fresh and the bowl was very flavorful. This was a refreshing healthy treat on a hot day! I would definitely come back here to try the other menu items. I also love that they have puppy smoothies on the menu for $3! If this location wasn't so far I would bring my dogs here all the time :) As mentioned earlier, there is plenty of seating available inside. Several of the walls have murals, it is a very bright and inviting space. Staff were friendly and menu was great, would definitely recommend this South Block location ;)

Rubi V.

Yelp
Their açaí bowls are the best, along with their smoothies too!! I love getting the Super Green smoothie. Their customer service is very welcoming. I love coming here, it is a great place to chill with friends!
google avatar

Kate M.

Yelp
Stopped for a coffee in the afternoon. Great and uplifting atmosphere (heavy EDM was playing when I was there). Very quick service, friendly staff, and clean place. Would come back for more coffee, but they also have smoothies and some other snacks too. They have a cute mural outside on their building that you can take a picture in front of. Definitely worth a visit!
google avatar

Ashlyn D.

Yelp
Very modern, cute, and everything tastes good! Friendly staff, and yummy Health Nut Smoothie. P.S., Whey tastes like peanuts, so if you don't like the taste don't put whey in it!

Vanessa C.

Yelp
I loved the service here from the staff and the food is so good!! Def recommend, in every way
google avatar

Lydia A.

Yelp
This location is in a warehouse looking spot and is huge! We got the emerald green bowl, golden bowl, espresso and beet root hummus. This spot had a lot more options than the union market location and I loved all the bowls. The best root hummus toast tasted like Pizza with its zaatar spice. The area was also big enough to bring my bike in! Will be back
google avatar

Margo C.

Yelp
Delicious açaí bowls!!! The best in the area IMO... My favorite is the warrior bowl...I've also tried their avocado and peanut butter toasts (yummy, too). I love how spacious the store is and service is always friendly and prompt...highly recommended!!
