This place is everything you are looking for! Great food, friendly staff, huge selection of whiskey and hand crafted cocktails, and the ambiance is perfect for a date, a friend /family gathering, or even for a corporate meeting. Lots of seating inside and outside. They also have this amazing rooftop over the back patio. Last Saturday, they had a DJ playing deep house music on that rooftop, and we got to dance and meet new people of the community. The night was a blast! What a great summer vibe! ☀️ It's definitely a go-to place in Downtown Alpharetta 👌

This place has the best dang steak I’ve ever had in my life if I could relieve a meal it would be here. It had a wonderful atmosphere and our waitress was so sweet. The aps were so beautiful yet delicious and I would have to say I would come here again!

Google
Very cute little place. We sat out on the patio in the alley. We came for dinner, but they were out of a few options, so I ordered a few side dishes and my friend ordered the burger. The Brussel sprouts were so delicious, I’m not sure what sauce they add but it is 10/10. The deviled eggs were also absolutely delicious. The fries were ok, and the only complaint I had was the ranch was very very liquidy. The drink was good but not worth the price imo. Definitely would come back for the appetizers.

We had a nice dinner at the South Main Kitchen. The location has an amazing ambient, friendly service and incredible food. Absolutely worth every dollar.

Another fabulous Easter meal at South Main kitchen. We had a last-minute change in our reservation and they seated us early early with no issues. They were very busy. Food was top quality. Bacon was crispy as requested. A manager stopped by and checked on our meal. This is why we keep coming back here high-quality food and high-quality service!

We dropped in on a Tuesday night. There was no wait. It was busy. The atmosphere and set up is great. Service was solid. The cocktail menu was top knotch. The menu is electric and a mix that had an amazing set of presentations. Didn't personally love the flavors as the hanger steak was a bit fatty but it was a good evening.

Google
Nice place for dinner. I went with some peers from work and we decided to eat on the patio since the weather was good. All of us enjoyed our food and drinks very much. It was all of our first time going there and we surely would enjoy going again. Service was average but good.

I travel the country and by far one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. From appetizers to desert and after dinner drinks it was amazing. If you’re in town stop by, you will not be disappointed. Ask for Xavier and Tiffany.

Yelp
Great spot for lunch or dinner in downtown Alpharetta near Smokejack and Butcher & Brew. I honestly love all the spots on this little strip on Main Street, but I frequent South Main most often. For starters, I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts. They used to have this incredible celery root soup on the menu, but it hasn't been on there for some time now and I am waiting for the day they bring it back! I've heard the gumbo is also delicious if you're looking for something warm and rich. My go-to is the Farmhouse Salad, the buttermilk chive dressing is delicious. If you're looking for an entree, I recommend the burger or the salmon. They offer plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the back patio is super nice to enjoy when the weather isn't too hot. I can usually walk-in without issue, but they do get super crowded on weekends and I believe they do take reservations if needed. I always forget this, but do note that they are closed on Sundays.

Yelp
A group of us met here for a business dinner on a Monday night and had a great time! To start, there is a nice selection of wines. I had a couple of glasses of Chef's Table Pinot Noir from the Williamette Valley which were so good! For an appetizer, we ordered the SMK meat & cheese board which was outstanding. I especially liked the praline bacon and pickled fennel. Different but delicious! For my entree, I ordered the crab cakes. Very well prepared with a great taste. There were 6 of us and we all enjoyed the food and ambience of this restaurant! Great find in Alpharetta!

Yelp
A cute little rustic chic restaurant located in downtown Alpharetta. This is a great place for a date night or catching up with friends. I came here for a Christmas Dinner for work since it was a smaller group. I will say it can get pretty loud inside and it can be a bit hard to hear the wait staff or your friend. The food here was excellent. We started off with the Brussels sprouts and deviled eggs. The Brussel sprout was so good I would love to have these as a side dish! I got a half rack of lambs and it was good. It came with grits which was different. I'm not gonna lie I was expecting mashed potatoes, but the grits was a good touch to it. I wish I would have gotten the full rack rather than half. It wasn't a lot in my opinion. Same goes for the scallops. There wasn't that much for the meal so keep that in mind when you're SUPER hungry. The braised short rib was really good. I would recommend getting this or the salmon. If you have room for dessert, get the raspberry cheesecake! It's amazing! The braised short rib was really good. I would order that myself next time.

Yelp
I came with a party of 7 and was quickly accommodated with the flexibility of choosing a table with room for a baby stroller. Service was friendly, but the food was disappointing. The ranch for the fried oysters was extremely watery, the Cajun pasta was some of the worst pasta I've ever had, the flatbread's flavor combinations were almost inedible, the deviled eggs were plain and relied only on hot sauce for any flavor, and the shrimp toast was bland and mushy. There were no memorable or unique flavors at all. However- I will say one thing...these were the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. If you end up here, make sure to double down on the sweet potato fries. But for everything else- you're better off at a different southern eatery.

Lexi C.

Yelp
This place was great! I went with my boyfriend and we weren't super hungry so we split the steak and deviled eggs. The service was great and food was delicious. The inside of the restaurant is rustic and good vibes for a Saturday night. We will be back!

Abigael K.

Yelp
I went to South Main kitchen while visiting Georgia and had a lovely experience. The staff was very kind and the food was delicious. I ordered the burger and fries, which did not disappoint. Came with a very healthy serving of fries, enough to share for the table. On the enclosed patio section, which was nice to seem like you're a bit more outside, but also was protected from the cold, somewhat rainy weather that we were experiencing. Overall, really great place for a group dinner with family and friends.

Anthony B.

Yelp
Tried the blackened redfish. While it looked great it tasted awful. No blackening at all and fish portion was small. All I could taste was lemon and syrup. Won't be back. Food just wasn't good at all. Walked away hungry.

Joyrina H.

Yelp
Nice place for dinner. I went with some peers from work and we decided to eat on the patio since the weather was good. All of us enjoyed our food and drinks very much. It was all of our first time going there and we surely would enjoy going again. Service was average but good.

Samantha B.

Yelp
I corn't believe this...If you're looking for a meal that combines the subtle elegance of canned corn with the flavor of week-old salmon, then look no further!

Brett J.

Yelp
If your looking for a great spot in downtown Alpharetta for a good meal you have found it here. The atmosphere is intimate, the food is well prepared, the service is outstanding, and the experience is memorable. We came with a group of 10 and they were able to accommodate and handled us drinks, apps, food and all. This is a fantastic venue that I look forward to visiting again.

Ishara F.

Yelp
I just keep coming back here for more. Cocktails are made so well. The charcuterie board has too many salty things on it. The deviled eggs are sometimes too salty but I still think they taste really good.

Robert V.

Yelp
Had a great meal Tuesday night while on a business trip. Great bar with plenty of choices of bourbon. I had the Hanger steak with a traditional chimichurri sauce and a red wine reduction which sounded strange but was fabulous!!! Sides were roasted red potatoes and asparagus, both cooked to perfection. Two in our party enjoyed the short rib and one enjoyed the chicken and raved about it.

Yelp
Everyone loves a comeback story - it's rare stuff- doesn't happen very often - but when it does, it's a sight to see - honestly - a sight to see. I speak of South Main Kitchen . We had first moved to Alpharetta when South Main Kitchen first opened - it was a miracle - a cool spot, a mix of rare things - great food, great service and a great vibe. People flocked to the place. You could feel the energy.....it was not to last - as the owner focused elsewhere, the place suffered. And like so many other things, people moved on.... Fast forward to summer of 23, a new owner (Marcus), who has the gift and the passion for this - and saw it - and over time, has made it happen. I have been back a few times since, and little by little, I am happy to report, South Main Kitchen is back. Say it anyway you like.....it's a nice vibe. Marcus knows that it begins with a few things - great food which is accessible but refined, a staff that loves working for him - working there...and he knocked the rust off the vibe - it's cool again. We visited tonight - Christmas Eve.....many many observations. - When you walk in - it's cheerful - they are actually glad to see you. This was not always the case before - but it's different now - normal people who love what they are doing....(more on this later) - Personalized service- we had to change our table from 4-5 last minute - it's a tight place - but a quick text, and someone got back to us - little details matter and they made it work - splendidly - The staff is new, the kitchen is new - and the staff is bright, energetic, cool, laid back, enjoys being there - and you know what? You can tell - and you can also tell when they don't enjoy being there - but with Marcus - he doesn't have people who don't want to be there - so EVERYONE we connected with - and they all check in - were happy and wanted to help.... - The drinks - this is a cocktail spot - and the drinks are good. Well crafted, not crazy complicated - but elegant and tasty. Bar service is friendly and cool - love those ladies back there The food - It's so happy when you have lost something and you find it again - For a while - the place was lost - the food was not good - BUT - with this new ownership- the food is back. Starting with Brussels Sprouts and Shrimp - it's refined but not pretentious, tasty, easy to eat - and yeah - you want to inhale it - the shrimp were perfectly cooked, just the right seasoning and sauce on top of a baguette that is soaking up that goodness. Man oh man... Dinner included redfish, pasta with crawfish, scallops, burgers......every bite of all of it was perfect - not overly salted - but the proteins were the star here - and the accompaniments are thoughtful....you end up diving in and forgetting about anything else. So good. Dessert - one nit? The lava cake was not very lava ......but it was tasty and the ice cream was good.....no problem. We missed this place very much and we are SO happy that downtown Alpharetta has a gem again - a jewel box of a place. One last note about leadership - just look at the pass- you can see the owner there - checking in on every plate that goes out - that was not always the case. But there he is. And it shows. You could tell before when the owner focused elsewhere, the soul left the place - and now with the new owner "all in" - the soul is back - and he leads like that - he draws people to him - unlocks their passion and you can tell.....we are so happy. Congratulations to South Main Kitchen - welcome back old friend

Yelp
My family had been here previously but today was my first visit. We decided to celebrate Father's Day with brunch here. Everything was good. We received good service from Brooke. She was super attentive. The food was actually great and very flavorful. My son-in-law said the Brussels sprouts appetizer was the best he had ever tried. I tried the country breakfast. The scrambled eggs were super creamy. The sausage and bacon were cooked perfectly. The biscuit was warm and soft in the center and a little crunchy on the outside. I'll definitely return to try dinner here sometime.

Monica L.

Yelp
I can't believe how delicious this place is. Everything we had not only exceeded our expectations, but felt like the first bite every single time. The brussel sprouts were crispy, but also soft from the delicious glaze/sauce (crowd pleaser here). My friend loved her chicken and my country pork entree could have fed 3 people! I also love that the meats had a charcoal/grill taste to it and they were cooked to perfection. Their sweet potato fries are SO CRISPY! And to top it all off, our server was very attentive and helped us without ever needing to be flagged down. I can't wait to come back and try more things; I couldn't stop raving about this place when I got home :)

Roz J.

Yelp
Easy to make reservations. Food was delicious from starters to main to desserts. The server was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. The reason for 4 stars was that the place plays too loud music, and it is hard to have a conversation without yelling. Recommend to plan the type of evening you want beforehand. Plus point they have a live band.

Christina P.

Yelp
I recently booked a rehearsal dinner for 24 guests for my daughter's wedding last week and i cant say anything more than amazing! They went above and beyond to make the dinner perfect. Carlie was more than accommodating in planning a special menu and had the back patio area reserved just for us. Our server was fantastic and handled a large, loud group well! The food was excellent all around and the drinks were superb! Everything we expected and more... Thank you all so much! we can't wait to come back when in town to enjoy the food again!

Will S.

Yelp
Tory was amazing, cocktails were on point, a d food was fantastic as always! Glad to start being regulars here

Andrea S.

Yelp
Very nice dark to table spot with fresh and clean ingredients. Pure food! Friendly service.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Mixed reviews here--my hanger steak was very overcooked (ordered medium and was served well-done). Appetizers (brussels sprouts and deviled eggs) were great though.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with my family to celebrate my husband's birthday. I made a reservation for 12:30pm for a group 6. We arrived 10-15 minutes early. They have a relaxed atmosphere with rustic, modern farmhouse vibes. When we arrived, there were two other groups waiting to be seated. The hostess acknowledged us and seated the first two groups. A fourth group walked in as she was seating the second group, and then she proceeded to take the information of the group that walked in after us. I was a little confused since she didn't even take our reservation info at all, but I let it go. Half of my group hadn't arrived yet anyway. The rest of my party arrived right as the hostess returned from seating the other group. She took our info and seated us. Maybe it was an off day for them. They seemed to be understaffed and a bit overwhelmed. Although all the servers were polite and tried their best to be attentive, some of our items were forgotten. My order came out wrong, but they corrected it immediately. We had to remind our server about a few things we ordered, and some of the items took a while. They did mention they had some type of technical glitch, so that had a lot to do with the delay. Fortunately, the food was pretty good and helped make up for the delay. I'd describe it as Southern food with a modern twist. The portions were decent, and a few of us left with leftovers. Everybody enjoyed their meal.

Abi A.

Yelp
The food was almost good but my burger was too salty. Told the waitress and she just said 'ok' and walked away. Had some of my friend's breakfast sandwich which was good. It gets packed so it's best to make a reservation.

Benjamin C.

Yelp
A tasty meal based on southern roots yet with a fanciful twist. This place lived up to the description that my coworker gave to it - modernized southern food. The spread: deviled eggs, bbq flavored carrots, trout with whipped potatoes in a savory broth, collards, and apple dumpling with ice cream. I liked the twist applied to each of these: deviled eggs - crispy bacon added, carrots - seasoned with bbq sauce and ranch, trout - soaked in a nice broth, apple dumpling - had a unique, fluffy shape. I wasn't a huge fan of the ice cream with the apple dumpling, though. It had a little bit of a strange taste to it. Overall a good meal.

Janine C.

Yelp
Time to update my last review as we recently tried the place again. I ordered salmon, and it was excellent! The bf ordered rack of lamb and it was pretty good. Service at the bar is solid.

Giovanna H.

Yelp
The more I go here the more I enjoy the food and the cozy ambiance. MUST TRY..... the carrots and Brussel sprouts, I promise you'll love them, even if you don't eat veggies!

Shannon H.

Yelp
Super quaint and awesome menu! We sat outside and got live music as well. Definitely recommend!!

Michelle N.

Yelp
Visiting GA to see my boyfriend. And trying out all the non chain restaurants i can to get a taste of Georgia. Upon arrival, the decor and ambience caught my attention in the best way possible. The rustic vibes are my favorite! And full wall of all the bourbons and whiskey you can think of ! AMAZING Food: Burger - my bf orders it medium rare and is extremely particular about the meat coming out just the way he likes in. And they sure got it down to the the T. Sweet potatoes fries - very thick hand cut fries and they sprinkled brown sugar over it ! I've never had it like that nor do they do it like that back in Los Angeles but WOW they were a lot more delicious than I was expecting Salmon - PERFRCTLY cooked. S U P E R crispy outside and extremely soft in the middle. Brussels sprouts - had a Thai sweet chili smell to it but didn't quite taste like it. They were nicely crisp ! 10/10 Very satisfied and would come back again whenever I'm back in town !

Yelp
I visited South Main Kitchen for the first time last week for a company holiday lunch! This is a very nice little restaurant in downtown Alpharetta with a very rustic/trendy vibe once inside. Now getting inside may be more difficult than you can imagine due to the horrible parking situations in downtown Alpharetta, however, the food and service is great! I had the Salmon and boudin balls which were both very good! I loved the salmon, however, I didn't like the couscous that it came with. I wish I could have switched it out for a different side item. The boudin balls also were really good. I think that mine were cooked a little too long as they had more of a scorched/burnt taste to them, but I can tell that they are really good! Our server was VERY good and accommodating for our table of 15-20. I definitely would return here again for dinner and recommend checking it out!

Debra B.

Yelp
I've been to many restaurants since I arrived in Georgia Hands down the best experience The chef came out and asked us how our meal was! I'm a vegetarian and was accommodated with a specially prepared pasta This will be my go to restaurant

S B.

Yelp
This restaurant deserves 5 stars! We had the salmon and the springer chicken with some kind of sweet chili sauce. The chicken comes with collard greens and mac and cheese. The brussels sprouts were good as appetizers but not as good as the main dish, especially the chicken.

Bobby S.

Yelp
We went here in a bit very busy Wednesday night and started with drinks and to say they were slow, would be an understatement! The bartender slow rolled everything that came through him. The manager did comp us a couple of appetizers, so between that and Kennedy's service being on point I'd give them 4 stars instead of 2 that I thought initially. Then we ordered food and it came relatively quick, fast even, compared to the drinks. Plus the food was great! Four of us had the All-good burger one the salmon and the other had something different. Everyone was pleased with their food, but the bartender was still slow as molasses. Poor Kennedy had to keep apologizing for how slow this guy was. My only other complaint was there was little AC in the place too, when it did start getting busy it was pretty darn hot in there. But the food was good and so was Kennedy's service for us, minus the drinks. As to wether we'd go back or not is up in the air.

Patrice W.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cute place for brunch and enjoyed EVERYTHING! Great, fast and friendly service. Sweet cornbread and kale and brussel sprouts salad were both amazing. Definitely coming back!

Linda K.

Yelp
I was impressed. We came here for our anniversary dinner and the host brought us two glasses of champagne right away. For the food, I had the risotto. It was perfect. Husband had the hangar steak. Looked amazing. Dessert we tried the apple dumpling which disappeared quickly as well. Nice atmosphere, great location - very walkable. Service was on point too.

Tasha H.

Yelp
Went here on a whim for a weekday dinner and now I can't wait to go back! Service was a little shaky in the beginning, but quickly improved. Inside is a bit small so I would have preferred patio seating , but it was reserved that day. I got to try the brussel sprouts and meat pies for appetizers. Both were excellent and I don't even like brussel sprouts! The meat pies are basically empanadas and have a slight kick. For my main course I got gumbo and collard greens. The gumbo was absolutely delicious. Served hot and it was filling. The collards were ok. Not great, but definitely not bad. They must use a punch of sugar because I did taste a slight sweetness and I'm not a sugar in grits OR collards kinda girl. I would have also preferred the collards to be cut into smaller, shorter pieces. To drink, I had the wannabe. Instead of Serrano syrup, I got agave and ....omg perfection. Small, but packs a lil punch. Can't wait to come back here!

Steve V.

Yelp
We came here on a date night on a Friday and was seated in the back upstairs outdoor area. We are glad we had a reservation as the place filled up quickly. There was a live musician in the alley between SMK and the neighboring building. It was perfect where we were seated because we could hear the music well, but not blown away by the volume. For appetizer, we had the deviled eggs, which were good. I liked the hot sauce that was on it, gave it a nice kick. For my entree, I had the burger. It was good, a bit dry, but still enjoyable. The service got a bit slow toward the end and they actually took my plate while I was in md-bite, which was strange. It's like she did not even look at what was happening at the table and just started grabbing plates.

Mary J.

Yelp
Love this place so much! All of their food is wonderful but their brussel sprouts are out of this world!

Creighton F.

Yelp
Awesome bourbon selection. If you are visiting Alpharetta or just want to go enjoy quality bourbon selection this is your place. I didn't get to spend much time in here as I was exploring while visiting but enjoyed my time here very much.

Carlie M.

Yelp
Came in for dinner last Friday. It was a super nice day outside that night so downtown Alpharetta was super crowded. Which also made it tricky to find a place to eat without a super long wait! We popped in here just to check out the wait time and they didn't have any wait if we sat outside! I'd say this is probably pretty rare so always safe to make a res. We enjoyed the patio! They have heaters that they turned on since it got a little chilly as the sun went down. Our waitress was super cool and attentive. We started with some cocktails. I got Rosemarys Night Out - which had gin, Prosecco and rosemary-cranberry syrup. Super good and refreshing! The food is pretty pricey not going to lie. My fiancé and I got the farmhouse salad and the burger with sweet potato fries (a $2 up charge). Our friend got the flatbread. The food took a while to come out but all around it was tasty. The sweet potato fries were honestly my favorite! They are super thick and they give you a ton of them! Worth the small up-charge. Worth checking this place out when I'm downtown Alpharetta.

Eric P.

Yelp
Came in on a Fri eve with the wife and friends. We were able to get seats at the bar and decided to eat there. Split appetizers of Brussels sprouts and splitting the mussels and frites. Both were exceptional. Next time that will be my dinner. We all ended up getting the burger. Very good though mine was a tad overcooked. The wine drinkers have good selection and the draft choices, while limited, is solid. One tip, rye and ginger highball means a tall glass. I solved this by requesting more ginger beer which was cheerfully provided. Bottom line, this is a solid option when dining in Alpharetta.

Jen L.

Yelp
This is a restaurant in Alpharetta that I always wanted to go to! It fulfilled all my expectations! My friends really enjoyed their meals as well. All ingredients were fresh and delicious! We had an appetizer of the Brussel Sprouts which were to die for! The flavor was spectacular. I ordered the Springer Mountain Chicken which was so colorful and fresh. The ingredients tasted good while being healthy. The chicken was plentiful enough with the veggies it came with. I can't wait to come back to this restaurant again!

Melina T.

Yelp
Good food, but overpriced, in my opinion. A small quaint space so you'll have a hard time hearing another person if you're across the table since you're sitting so close to others.

Paulina A.

Yelp
Came here with some friends and we were seated right away. South Main is located in the heart of downtown Alpharetta and displays a cozy, rustic interior. We loved the cocktails and deviled eggs appetizer. I ordered the Scottish salmon which was delectable!

Kenny C.

Yelp
I'm typically not a huge fan of this type of restaurant, if the category is "American (New)" it usually ends up being kind of boring. But I've been won over by South Main Kitchen. Their menu is pretty simple, but each item has some interesting and subtle twists that I really appreciate. For instance, I'm not a fan of most Brussels Sprouts, but the ones at South Main might be my favorite in all of OTP. The combination of the lunch box peppers and comback sauce is awesome, and the sprouts themselves are so crispy and nice, it's the only Brussels sprouts dish I actually look forward to. And the whole menu is like that. Little additions or unique takes on a traditional dish that just amp up the flavor. They have great cocktails too. Overall, a solid choice if you're looking for a night out in Alpharetta.

Aubrey F.

Yelp
We had a reservation for dinner and arrived with no tables inside open. We said sitting outside was okay. We sat for 20 minutes before the manager realized we had not been helped. In that time the table across from us had been seen 2-3 times. We didn't make a fuss. We ordered and I was excited when the waitress said they had gluten free buns! When we got our food I ate half my burger and my husband realized there was MOLD on the bottom oF MY BUN! We showed the manger and he comped my meal, which was nice and appreciated. I still feel compelled to write this review because mold on food served at a restaurant is unacceptable and I am now sick after eating the half of my burger. I would never go back.

Brett K.

Yelp
My family and I have visited SMK several times over the course of our time living in North Georgia and I'm proud to call it a "go-to" for any date night or situation in which a guest is in town and we want to take them out. There has only been one time when the food came out with an issue, and when it was brought to the staff's attention they handled the matter swiftly, professionally and in a courteous manner by taking the meal (even the corrected one), off the bill without us even having to do the awkward ask in front of a guest. My family owns and runs several restaurants, and they understand first-hand how difficult it can be to plead everyone and also ameliorate issues caused by occasional mistakes. I highly encourage anyone to visit SMK and both my wife and I believe the price point of any menu item is well worth it as we've tried just about everything on the menu.

Pam M.

Yelp
Ambiance was great. Salmon& rice was bland and mushy. No flavor. Ordered bread and was told it will be $5. Np. It arrived after dinner and was literally 1 piece of bread, cut in half. That's it. Lol. Was not worth $100 meal for 2. Go elsewhere

Rob H.

Yelp
Great spot on main st. Trout was amazing and bartender knows how to make a solid old fashion! Get the deviled eggs too!

Dave B.

Yelp
Nice selection of appetizers. Try the octopus! The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable The menu offers a variety of proteins and vegetables Nice atmosphere

Rachel P.

Yelp
My friend and I stumbled upon this restaurant while out shopping and we are so glad we did! Everything was sooo good! We ordered from the brunch menu and wish we could have had everything! Can't wait to go back and try more!
