"When you envision what you might discover in a parking lot behind a gas station, great poke probably isn’t at the top of the list. But somehow, the South Maui Fish Company food truck pulls it off by partnering with local fishermen to source fresh, sustainable seafood. Menu items change daily, but typically include poke, tacos, and grilled fish plates. There are tables and chairs set up under umbrellas, or you can walk across the street to eat at Kalama Beach Park. You can also get freshly-caught fish fillets to take home with you and hopefully not ruin on the grill." - martha cheng, team infatuation

The original poke was wonderful here. We are considering ourselves very lucky because they had used marlin for the poke and it was magnificent. Really worth going out of our way to check it out. The fish tacos are great too. Ample portions and despite there being a line, we got our order in and food in a timely manner.

Melina Puchalski

Google
We had the fish tacos, the marlin poke and the special of the day, ceviche. All were incredible. Large portions, limited seating, but we came right before they closed, around 3. The flavors were spot on in everything. The pineapple slaw was fresh, the rice was cooked well, there was no fish left on our plates. Really good food to check out, if you're in the area. Go traditional poke if you're not a fan of heat.

Byron Olson

Google
If you want fresh fish this is the place. The fish selection is based on what was caught. When we went it was Marlin. The people in front of us left because they wanted Tuna, but the Marlin was spectacular. One person in my party doesn't normally like poke because of the texture, but they loved the Marlin poke. Try everything, it's all good.

Google
Absolutely the best poke I've ever had. Admittedly I've not had much poke, but it was delicious. The fish tacos were banging. Really fun little place to eat, too.

Nancy Decker-Miller

Google
This is a food truck so there are tables in a courtyard to sit, nothing fancy but the food was delicious! Poke was great and everyone else had Mahi Mahi fish tacos which had huge pieces of fish in them and they said they were the best on the island so far. Portions are perfect. The fish are the fresh catch every day. Friendly service and quick. Definitely recommend!

Google
Food was amazing!! Best fish tacos ever!! They’re so friendly! One of the few places that still serves fresh fish in the island!! Totally worth it!! Try the spicy aioli with your tacos and poke!!!!

John Ebert

Google
Absolutely the best poke on Maui. But more importantly the absolute best fish tacos I’ve ever had. The portions are ridiculous. And the unagi sauce that goes on top of the fish tacos is perfect. Do be aware, they have been known to run out of fish for their tacos. So be prepared to get their amazing poke instead. Also double check their hours. They’re a little wonky but absolutely worth it to fit South Maui Fish Company into your vacation plans!

Danielle Savage

Google
The best poke bowl we had on the island. Owner and staff are amazing. It was our first and last meal on our Maui trip. The marlin mac salad was a flavor combo like none other. The fish tacos were so fresh and cooked perfectly.

Amy G.

Yelp
Great food, friendly service. We eat here every time we come to Maui. Great fish tacos

Amanda L.

Yelp
A great food truck serving fresh fish caught that day. Friendly guy running the place. Of note, they typically run out of poke around d 12:30-1:30. Unfortunately we came too late the first time we came. We came back and it was definitely worth it! We got the fish tacos and a fish plate. So delicious!!! The fish to tortilla ratio would make any Asian mom proud. The honey-Dijon sauce on the first plate really complimented the fish. To keep the place dairy free they make a coconut pineapple slaw that is so delicious with just a small hint of coconut. The second time we came in, we got the poke. I really liked the traditional poke - very fresh!

Yelp
I wish I could give 6 stars. This place is in the middle of a small shared space where there is a scooter rental and Cava bar. The best meal we've had in Kihei. The half/ half poke plate we had for lunch and then went back for dinner as well. It was that good! We lived here for sometime a few years back and the food scene left a little to be desired at least in Kihei. Don't get me wrong there are some good places but it was hit or miss. That said I would eat this food everyday. My fish plate was marlin, it was super fresh, seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, served over rice. It had coleslaw which was fresh, crisp, seasoned well and had pineapple in it. What a great contrast of flavors textures and plate presentation. They did all this out of a box trailer and a 12 burner grill off the back. I'm a chef and cook for small and large events. This place is off the hook and I feel you have to eat here if you're on the island, not just in the neighborhood. The cava bar next door is also awesome, warm, inviting and the people are kind! Sorry no pics I was hungry.

Yelp
Generous serving of delicious soft buttery spicy poke! Can wait to return and try other items on the menu! Also tried the fish tacos, which wasn't as good as the poke but the fish piece was huge!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
The seafood here was so fresh. We had the ceviche, fish tacos, and half n half poke. All solid choices. The service was helpful and fast! Vibes of this place were casual and relaxing. Def would visit next time we are back in Maui.

Scott P.

Yelp
These guys absolutely rock! On the surface... happy customers, staff with positive attitudes as they deliver awesome poke bowls... but under the surface... perfect cuts of ahi or marlin, balanced spices and heat, perfect scoops of rice dusted with furikake, every bite of kimchi mac was amazing... they are the real deal and it makes me happy to see a business put love and effort into their food.

Ryan C.

Yelp
We knew that we HAD to come back to this food truck again on our most recent trip. This place is still a must visit when you come to Maui. We tried twice this trip to get their poke and missed out each time. It was disappointing but we still got the fish tacos both times and they are still my favorite fish tacos ever. The grilled marlin was meaty and grilled perfectly and went well with the pineapple coconut slaw. Can't help but love this place even if you miss out because the staff here are also some of the friendliest people around. I hope we can come back as soon as possible!

Emily S.

Yelp
Best poke on Maui - we come every year, multiple times. Tacos are also wonderful for non-poke-eaters.

Safia S.

Yelp
I went here based on all the 5 star reviews. I have to say I was disappointed. The overall set up is cute in the middle of an open air market. The spicy poke was very fresh but overall lacking depth. The fish taco and fish plate both were lacking in any real flavor. I am honestly so confused by the claims of being the best in.l town for poke.,

Samantha G.

Yelp
I don't want to be dramatic but these were the best fish tacos of our lives. It is well worth the wait but the line did move relevantly fast. We got the fish tacos and smoked Marlon Mac salad and both were so good. Go early bc they run out of the Mac salad very fast! We went at opening and within the hour heard them telling people they were out for the day.

Nathan D.

Yelp
Such a random food truck in the middle of the market. The cashier was new, so ordering was taking a bit longer than usual, but she was friendly, learning and helpful. Nice seating area around the courtyard, it was pretty relaxing in the evening. Food came out fairly quickly, it was cool to actually watch them use their grill to make the tacos. Tacos were great, huge portion of fish which was unexpected. Great flavor and consistency. The Poke Bento was pretty good too, not the best poke we've had, but good. It was fresh and seasoned okay, felt like it was missing something though. Spicy poke was good, hard not to be with spicy mayo ha ha. Overall a good experience and good food with pretty good prices, albeit a bit high for poke. I'd certainly come back for more tacos.

Lamarr E.

Yelp
Tucked inside a plaza in Maui is a terrific food truck. Best tuna I've ever had, hands down! The prices and service were great too. Next time I ll have to check out their fish plates.

Lori A.

Yelp
A hole in the wall gem of a spot. They run out of poke pretty quick around lunch time, if that's what you're going there for. Otherwise, they ahi tuna plate and tacos were amazing!

Lee H.

Yelp
Hands down, the BEST fish tacos I've ever had! Fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. These were absolute perfection. If you're a fish taco lover, you HAVE to try these! This also was my first fish taco experience, it did not disappoint! Only trouble is the bar has been set pretty high lol!

Jasmine M.

Yelp
For the poke plates, you get to choose between traditional and spicy (I split my poke box -- 1/3 lb) and prefer the traditional (my partner did as well). Their sides complimented the sushi very well. The vibes felt like you were at a family event with the grill on the side and tables outside. Our cashier was super chill but you can tell he was trying to get orders out and orders in (no complaints because we got our food pretty fast). 8/10 Poke plate/box. The poke was really great. But the price for both was pretty up there.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood and I've been wanting to give it a try. Stopped by about 45 minutes before lunch closing on Saturday. Unfortunately the person in front of me got the last of the poke so I pivoted and got the fish plate. Half the fish was overcooked and chewy but the other piece was good. As you can see, portions on the plate are big! Go for the bento for a smaller option. The coleslaw is very sweet. Will definitely be back to try the poke!

Amanda T.

Yelp
This place was awesome, you walk up to order and the staff are extremely knowledgeable. After you grab your number and go find a seat, they brought us the most amazing grilled fish I've ever had in my life. My party had the fish and chips as well as calamari and I have to say I think I won with my mahi.

Shelly B.

Yelp
On a recent trip to Maui, we visited South Maui Fish Company. I was excited to try the fish tacos and my husband got the poke. Friendly gal running the truck. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food. I'd recommending skipping this one.

Stacie S.

Yelp
Ohhhhhh BRAH!!!! The smoked marlin Mac n cheese was AWESOME!!!!! Husband loved his fish tacos too. Great place very friendly

Julia H.

Yelp
Came to South Maui Fish Co. specifically for their poke! Didn't realize it's a food truck in the center of a small plaza, but they have seating around with the other shops in their small plaza. Hubby & I ordered the poke bowl to share w/ half spicy & half traditional. Their pineapple coleslaw is really the star, unique flavor that was really good! The spicy ahi poke had a pretty big kick, but both flavors were good. We also got a side macaroni salad, which was good as well. Service is fairly quick, and I did see a patron in front of us order some fresh fish for herself to cook or eat - which is pretty neat. Parking lot is very limited, otherwise you can try to park on the street by the library wherever it's marked with spaces. Just overall comparisons with all the poke I've had in Hawaii - Maui's Foodland market actually has really decent poke, the best IMO on Maui...and on Oahu, I still have a special place in my heart & belly for Alicia's Market and their poke.

Cassandra S.

Yelp
The best poke on Maui!!! It is soooo fresh and tender and the sauce is phenomenal, though a bit on the spicy side. It is a must stop place! And if you want cooked fish, they have grills right there to cook it up fresh for you. Downsides: it is very pricey for poke, but for the quality it is worth it once or twice. The sides are also kind of a let down. The pineapple coleslaw sounded so good but was only ok, pretty bland. The service was very friendly and quick. There are a couple picnic tables with umbrellas to allow you to sit and enjoy every delectable bite.

Maribel L.

Yelp
Our snorkeling guide recommended this spot and claimed it was the freshest seafood in town. How can you not trust a local? We ordered the fish plate, the catch of the day was a Marlin, and the poke bowl which consisted of 50% traditional and 50% spicy. And let me tell you, the seafood did not disappoint. The marlin was cooked to perfection even a little crisp, just how we like it. Poke so fresh that I was doing a happy dance when eating it. The rice and coleslaw combo is insanely underrated. Crunichess is my kryptonite. Pouring the spicy aioli on the fish was the chef's kiss. My only feedback? I wish they fried the fish. I've been craving that for a hot minute.

Melissa Smith B.

Yelp
This was somewhat of a miss for our crew. The Poke was ok, but not great. We waited a long time (30 min) in a rather short line. Probably about 5 people in line before us, then another 15-20 min for the food. The rice was delicious, the slaw was just ok. A little different with the pineapple in it, and honestly not a lot of flavor. The spicy poke was pretty spicy which was a bit shocking because the lady who took our order told us it was only a 3/10 on a spiciness level. The poke was fresh, but the flavor was just mid.

Nafal Z.

Yelp
We came here by recommendation and were very happy we stopped by. We both got the poke bowl with half traditional and half spicy. The bowl came with the two portions of poke, rice and salad. We also ordered the veggie salad which was pretty tasty. The poke was super fresh and with minimal ingredients but tasted super good. No fishy taste what so ever. Service was quick and very friendly. There was already a line as we arrived just before 11. There isn't that much seating and we unfortunately picked a spot that was parallel to the grills so it became pretty hot. Probably best to take it to go. Would definitely come back if in the area.

DD W.

Yelp
Had Ahi fish tacos. Best I've ever had. Spectacular fresh fish, nicely seasoned. Highly recommended

Lynn N.

Yelp
We scouted a place for dinner and came across South Maui Fish Company. I was excited from viewing pictures and heard great things about food trucks in Maui. We were greeted with such a friendly cashier! She was welcoming and took our order, which was a Poke Bowl and Fish Tacos. The poke bowl was delicious. I love the quality of the poke. It was seasoned nicely and tender. The fish melts in your mouth. However, I was just a little disappointed with the portion size, but the quality of the fish makes up for it. The fish tacos were also very good! I really enjoyed the slaw it came with and the fish was seasoned well, a little spicy too! It was a tad bit dry, but I enjoyed eating it. For $18, it was also slightly overpriced. Overall, the food here is great! But it is definitely much more on the pricer side for the amount of food served.

Jim B.

Yelp
Always come some fresh fish every time we visit Maui. Fish tacos, smoked Mac and fish plate. Catch of the day was ahi, marlin and mahi mahi. Nice food shack in a little strip mall area . Park across the street because parking is limited. Must do!!

Janine T.

Yelp
this was a nice fresh poke spot. it's a food truck inside of a plaza. There's limited seating with umbrellas but no restroom. I liked the original and spicy poke. I can tell the workers are very passionate about bringing the customers fresh fish. we didn't end up coming again.

Izzy A.

Yelp
OH MY GOD. This was the best poke we had in Hawaii (across both Maui and Kauai) and we had poke like 6x while there! I'll never forget this meal. It was undeniably fresh with pineapple coconut coleslaw was packed with flavor and perfectly paired with it! YUM. I'll be dreaming of this meal until I can return to Maui.

Bianca C.

Yelp
In the center or a strip mall, and parking is slim to none but the FISH TACOS were to die for!! Staff were kind and helpful. The ambience was busy and full. There were also benches for us to eat at.

Jamie A.

Yelp
From the service to the food everything was amazing! The fish seemed super fresh and just melted in your mouth! we had the spicy and transitional poke bowls! Tuna was the fish of the day and it did not disappoint! The spicy flavor definitely packs and punch so be warned! Best poke we've had in Maui so far!

John P.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday around 1230 and fortunately there wasn't a line! I heard about this place through word of mouth and their yelp reviews confirmed the need to try. Service was great! The guy who was taking orders was super friendly and we had a great chat. He mentioned that they catch their fish in the morning and if they don't catch anything, they don't open because they guarantee freshness. Keep in mind that they sell out quick, so get there as early as you can! Oh my gosh. The food was so fresh and yummy! Everything we tasted was 5 star material, so you have to try everything on their menu. We ordered: - Large smoked marlin mac salad - Fish tacos (comes with 2) - Poke bowl with half traditional and half spicy Highly recommend this place to anyone that is craving fresh fish!

Stephanie B.

Yelp
OUTSTANDING!!! Despite arriving right before closing, we were greeted with a friendly face and able to order four outstanding poke bowls. Half a pound of super fresh fish tossed with delicious seasoning served with fresh rice and delicious pineapple coleslaw that packed a tang. We took our meals home, but there was a pleasant courtyard where you could enjoy your meal. They also had a nice selection of sodas and kombucha. But, it is worth the trip for the poke bowl alone. Top quality with fantastic service.

Jason T.

Yelp
Food here was excellent. The freshness and quality is unmatched. I normally don't eat much fish but this place completely changed my mind. I'd eat here daily!! And a bonus it was on Triple D!!!

Paige T.

Yelp
This meal hit the spot. The pineapple coleslaw was unique and maybe the best I've had. The warm rice with eel sauce was also delicious. I got the half spicy/half traditional ahi poke, and truly enjoyed it- but confess that for me, Foodland has better flavors and options with fewer onions. The food truck is located in a plaza with some casual picnic table and bench seating. They take credit cards with no extra charges/incentives for cash, which was nice.

Kevin P.

Yelp
Best fish taco of my life. Got the marlin. The couple running this food truck is very attentive and prompt. Service was great ambiance was great.

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
Really enjoyed visiting South Maui Fish Company. There's a small parking lot, or parking available on the street. There's a few other food places in the little market it's set up up in. The food truck for South Maui Fish Company was the highlight though for us! We got the freshly grilled fish and were very happy about that option.

Cirwan S.

Yelp
First stop in Maui was here. Food was on point. I got the popular half and half bowl where it contains half spicy ahi poke and traditional ahi poke, which was recommended by the cashier. With marlin Mac and rice. Everything was super good, along with marlin Mac which tasted amazing! I also got two freshly grilled ahi tacos. Tacos are a great size and will definitely fill you up. All their fish is freshly caught that morning !!! Super fresh. Super cool vibe with its surroundings. For more delicious eats follow @cerogrubs on Instagram, tiktok, and YouTube !

Rachel L.

Yelp
We got a pound of the traditional shoyu poke and a grilled fish plate. The poke was sooo good and fresh. The only downside with buying the poke by the pound is it doesn't come with rice; only the poke bowls come with rice. We forgot to order a side of rice so we were all fighting over the furikake rice side that comes with the grilled fish plate. Next time I'd order rice or else the poke can get a little salty. I didn't realize till all the fish was gone that there was a tartar sauce that goes with the fish, oops. This is just a small trick in a small market. There were a couple tables outside and we didn't have trouble finding seating. The guy taking our order was super friendly. Every time I eat poke in Hawaii, I'm reminded of how it's so much better than anywhere else. We'll be back the next time we're in the area!

Maia F.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with South Maui Fish Company! My husband had never liked poke before, but I made him try it here, and he changed his mind - he's a poke fan now, all thanks to this place! The service is quick, but we recommend getting there early since we've heard they tend to sell out fast. The fish is all fresh-caught. One of the employees even said to us, "you're in luck - we caught some great ahi today!" The ambiance is also nice - it's located in the center of a little shopping area, and there were plenty of tables. Love this place!

Athena P.

Yelp
Food truck located in a small plaza I thought the poke was okay. I actually preferred Foodland's poke more. What was unique was their pineapple coleslaw, which I enjoyed.

Phoebe L.

Yelp
Parking was a bit tight in the back, but the food truck was right in the middle of a cute little plaza. Service was amazing! Loved hearing their story and wanted to support local. Poké was super fresh and tasty, but the grilled ahi belly was a bit too overcooked and dry for my taste! Will definitely come back again for more!!

Melina P.

Yelp
The food is outstanding. The portions are large and the fish is so fresh. The flavors marry so well together. If you're in the area, check this place out.

Miyouko W.

Yelp
Food truck located right inside a triangle plaza. There's a sign hanging right on the metal gate in the arch. Parking sucks behind the plaza, there is also a big, bigggg drop down (broken concrete) at the end of the parking row. More parking on the side street across the library. Got there about 20 mins past opening and already had a short line. Cool maui vibe for sure. Epic cashier, go for the poke bowl half and half! Yum! Would order again! Poke bowl is $20 itself without add ons. Wait was fairly quick getting my food so don't fuss!

Annika P.

Yelp
Our first dinner on the island! I was craving poke as soon as we touched town, and I loved the traditional poke bowl. It was flavorful and a little spicy and perfect. The fish was fresh and delicious and so smooth. The fish tacos were also super good, and my husband really enjoyed them. The coleslaw served with both was mild and tasty, and I liked the addition of pineapple in it. A great casual meal here!

Jessica D.

Yelp
We've heard great things about their poke so we were excited to try it! It's a food truck with outdoor seating. Unfortunately they were out of the spicy poke so we just got a traditional poke bowl and traditional poke bento. The fish was really fresh but I wish I was able to substitute the slaw for mac salad in my poke bowl.

Lydia X.

Yelp
this is THE spot for the freshest poke!!! the poke was so fresh and had the perfect texture. The spicy sauce was also perfection (it's pretty spicy). The pineapple coconut slaw was the perfect counterbalance to the spicy poke. One thing to note is that this place is so popular that they tend to sell out of poke towards the last hour they are open. We went 40min before closing and they only had the spicy poke left (and we got the 2nd to last serving of it).

Amy B.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! The poke here is incredible! Come early as I hear they sell out. I would come back again and again. I'd love to try their other items as well. They were knowledgeable about what was gluten free and very helpful. Their slaw is to die for as well.

Angela G.

Yelp
Very tasty fresh tuna plate that was ordered as take out and delicious overlooking the reefs.
