SM has so many trails that are appropriate for many ages and skill levels. Love to be out here and just take in the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful sceneries our state has to offer from a sunny day to a rainy day never disappoints. You can sometimes see the wildlife around. We have seen javelina, quails, crows/raven, cute cotton tails rabbits, jack rabbits, coyotes, rattle snakes, scorpions, beetles, and smaller lizards. You can also see some petroglyphs/hieroglyphics but you have to know where to look for them the visitation center should have more of that info for you. If you love to experience the outdoors and appreciate nature this place is great.
Just be aware of your surroundings this is the habitats area. Make sure you have sun screen/hat during the summer can get really hot and plenty plenty of water before you do any trail hiking. It is not advised to walk during mid days of summer or if their is a heat advisory warning
Be safe and enjoy
