"A Yunnan restaurant in Jersey City known for its classic Crossing the Bridge noodles; on a recent visit 'all of the four dishes we ordered were standouts: those noodles, a mapo squid ($16.99), beef on sticks (tiny, fun-to-eat spicy bites, $13.99), cucumber salad ($10.99), and my favorite, Yunnan chicken salad ($11.99).' The Yunnan chicken salad 'was a perfect spicy dish on a warm day, stocked with pulled chicken, scallions, pickled peppers, red onions, and a vinegary seasoning.' The only real drawback was the QR-code menu, which 'prompts you to set up an account and put in a credit card,' making group ordering awkward; otherwise the dining room is sleek, modern, and the experience efficient." - Nat Belkov

Very good restaurant! The food is delicious and fresh, especially Steamed Pot Chicken Soup, Yunnan Fried Stuffed Tofu, Shredded Potato with Egg Yolk, and Ham Potato Stewed Rice. The environment is nice and the service is good. The restaurant is next to the subway station. I strongly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely loved the bold and authentic Yunnan flavors at South of the Clouds in Jersey City! We tried a variety of dishes like the Sichuan-Style Spicy Chicken, Lotus Fries, Black Truffle Fried Rice, and Crispy Fried Milk—each one was unique and full of flavor. Great spot for anyone looking to explore regional Chinese cuisine in a cozy, welcoming setting right near Grove Street.

I got the chance to give this restaurant a try for dinner! When I arrived I parked on the street. I walked into a busy restaurant. I was sat and served by a nice young man! I ordered: Beef on sticks Braised chicken rice Steamed pot chicken soup Mengzi style special beef noodle soup premium Beef Yunban crossing bridge The food was pretty tasty. The braised chicken rice was my favorite. They soup wasn't bad, I just needed a little more salt. All in all I had a good experience!

I heard that the Yuan Nan rice noodles was very good long time ago, and finally I got to try it. Overall I was very satisfied! Recommend the beef rice noodles and the stuffed tofu!! Black Truffle Fried Rice also smells so good.

Went there for lunch with my 4 month old and husband. Got seated immediately, and order was seamless and service was expedient. The mengzi beef noodle soup and stuffed tofu we're delicious! Would definitely go back :)

After trying their Manhattan spot, we checked out their new Jersey City location. Their Yunnan-inspired dishes were on point again. The standout was the Yunnan Style Truffle Fried Rice - I'm obsessed... We also had the Premium Beef Yunnan Crossing Bridge, Hogs on Sticks, Crispy Fried Pork and Crispy Fried Milk. Shoutout to the Handmade Coconut Jelly. Can't wait to come back!
