"The owners of this very wonderful establishment have done an amazing job of creating a fantastic local pub that attracts an eclectic mix of both original regulars from its former guise and new visitors. All the ales and ciders stocked here (18 handpulls in total) are from small independent UK breweries. You can accompany your pint with a choice of tasty meats, we recommend the warm pork bap with apple sauce. Vinyl is played from behind the bar, with excellent live music provided on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday nights. Quiz night is Monday and take note, it’s a cash only bar." - Chrissie Macdonald & Andrew Rae
"This old-school boozer, a 10-minute wander from the lido, is one of north London’s most celebrated haunts and the bar snacks aren’t too shabby either. The pints at the Southampton Arms are crisp, as is the crackling that tops the roast pork baps." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"The pub is open daily from noon until around 11 p.m. to midnight and does not accept reservations. " - Atlas Obscura
"A sunny day spent on Hampstead Heath is a sunny day well spent. A sunny day spent on the Heath that ends in The Southampton Arms is even better. The Gospel Oak pub is as old-school and no-nonsense as they come. Ales, keg beer, and specialty cider flow steadily throughout summer and winter and its legendary roast pork baps—topped with apple sauce and enough crackling to make your dentist wince—are essential." - jake missing
"This narrowly focused and incredibly popular place, right at the edge of KT’s border with Parliament Hill, sells only ale, cider, and a few meaty snacks and light lunches. The drinks change regularly and come only from small regional brewers. They don’t accept credit cards, but they do have bare wooden floors, an open fire, and a small beer garden. This is one of those places where young people and long-established older residents truly hang out together, just like people in pubs are supposed to do." - richard ehrlich 3, oliver feldman, jake missing
