Once again Executive Director, John Manfredi, has chosen a play that insults the morals and values of our community. Grand Horizons was such a play. This play was billed as a “funny and heartbreaking commentary on marriage, family and the wisdom that comes from age”. This description must have been written by a person with a twisted sense of humor and twisted wisdom. An “R” rating should have been assigned in the play’s billing to warn patrons and parents of its nature and prevent teens and children from attending.
We left midway through the first act because of the obscenity and vulgarity. Not only was the most perverse vulgar language used, but inappropriate unholy humor was demonstrated. Furthermore, the dramatics included homosexual behavior and pride in adultery.
This review is limited to the first half of the first act because my wife and I and another couple left at that point. We were not the only ones that left in the first act.
Community Players’ name change is welcomed because last night’s performance and past “on the edge” performances do not represent the majority of the Beaumont faith-based community. Performers should be ashamed for participating in such poor quality and inappropriate plays. Plays of this nature drive us away from not only purchasing season tickets, but any tickets at all.
