Google
Southern Bistro prepared a plate of good Southern fried chicken features a piece with an incredibly crisp, golden-brown crust that shatters to reveal tender, juicy, and well-seasoned meat. It is perfectly complemented by a generous serving of fluffy, rich, and creamy mashed potatoes, often served hot and savory brown gravy on the side. Green beans and deviled eggs where very good also.

Google
Nice casual/ semi formal restaurant with white table cloths, good food, and great service. Lavonne was wonderful waitress. Great recommendations.

Google
Dined at Southern Bistro for lunch. We ordered shrimp & grits and grilled salmon. Both entrees were excellent. Unfortunately, I ordered a slice of caramel pound cake to go which was a bit dry. Service started out great, but slowed down once our plates were removed. We waited about 15 minutes to order dessert and request the check.

Google
Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Great food. Wonderful for kids. Especially if you’re on the patio. Really great place.

Google
I've frequented this location across ownership and name changes, yet I've always had reliable meals here. All of Southern Bistro's dinner entree options are legit, and they also have daily specials that are pretty good. Warning: The Prime Rib special on Saturdays is pretty large! The house cocktails are also good here, and the small bar is typically crowded and lively. Some of my favorites include the chopped steak, short rib, and Georgia Rainbow Trout. If you can handle a little bit of desert, opt for the homemade warm poundcake w/ ice cream. You will not be disappointed.

Google
First visit to Southern Bistro on a random Saturday for lunch/brunch. The restaurant is comfy and inviting with nice decor and white table cloths. Our server, Levonne, was friendly and helped to make our experience wonderful. The food was excellent! We will definitely come back for more!

Google
This is one of the best restaurants in Sandy Springs. I’ve been going here for years and absolutely love it. Excellent cook to order food great service clean restaurant a wonderful place to meet after church or during the week for lunch or dinner. 💯⚓️👏🏽🐺 locally owned and operated fresh ingredients and the chef has a wonderful seasonal menu🧙🏻‍♂️

Google
Our server, Sean, was fantastic! The food and cocktails were great and prompt. We had the salmon and flounder special which were both delicious. The table reservation process was easy too!

Francoise L.

Yelp
Nice and quiet. I like their salmon or trout dish and it does not break the Bank . Not for young people though. I went for lunch with my husband and our son and the place was full of older ladies

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday morning for brunch. The restaurant wasn't busy at all so we were able to walk straight in and be seated. There was plenty of space between us and other tables. We started with Brussel sprouts which was delicious. The sorghum glaze was delicious. They were cooked and seared perfectly and the pomegranate seeds were a nice burst of flavor with the bites of Brussel sprouts. I had the Rise and Shine sandwich and wow was that a big biscuit, so the description is not lying. I was surprised there was no sauce on the sandwich though and the fried chicken wasn't seasoned well enough to stand on its own so I asked for honey to add to the flavor of the sandwich. It is a huge sandwich so I cut it in half and was only able to finish that half. Overall good experience and the staff was very friendly.

Yelp
I went with a small group for brunch and we had a great time! Service was pleasant and very attentive and I loved my food--I got the chilaquiles. At first glance I thought the portions was small, but it was incredibly filling and included both chicken and egg (some places make you pick one or the other, which I don't like). My companions ordered the shrimp and grits and the chicken and waffles, both of which looked amazing and they were very happy with. I am planning to return to try both :) Lovely Christmas decor, too!

Yelp
Just had a very nice lunch at Southern Bistro with some friends. The restaurant is always so pleasant and inviting, with an upscale vibe. Our server was excellent . . . he knew the menu well and was helpful in answering our questions. We started with the Parker House rolls. I'm not a huge bread fan, but these are probably the best yeast rolls you'll ever have. They come to the table, warm and inviting and sprinkled with sea salt. They're served with an herb butter that is out of this world! I ordered the rainbow trout, which is served with blistered red potatoes, leeks, and fresh ground beef. The lemon butter sauce preparation is delicate and delicious. We all enjoyed our meals and will be back again soon. The menu is varied enough for everyone in your group to find something to their liking!

Robert ..

Yelp
everything I had was very good. The trout was as good as fish gets.. the collards had a nice taste, and didn't have hot peppers in it like everywhere else. The regular burger was a letdown (I did ask for it well done, but I've never had a burger patty that chewy). The sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had.. the soup was good too (most places do not have good soup imho.

Yelp
Used to love eating here. Good southern food. Biscuits the size of your head at brunch....the old gentleman who used to walk the dining room would pack me an extra one for home after brunches. After covid, have not visited until recently for quick late lunch. The salad which used to be great was pathetic and sad. Hoping it was an off day or something. Will give them another try for lunch. But I have loved this place for brunch, lunch and dinner visits. The bread basket is delicious, the rolls are divine and food is honest good cooking. Nice patio for dogs too. Staff has always been kind and professional. The kitchen does make good food and I used to totally recommend for southern food in this area. I heard there was an ownership change so maybe that is why it was different on the last visit? The picture is the menu from Sept. 9th visit during lunch so probably accurate. Will try again for lunch. Update- scallops salad is awesome. Like Maggiano's salad with scallops and so much better. I usually hate "fancy" limp salads...I like the trashy salads- romaine& iceberg. Crunchy fresh. But this salad works. The limp baby arugula (maybe) works in this. Scallops seared and cooked correctly. No need for shake of salt or black pepper really. Great salad!! Rolls- I take back. The Parker house rolls are not worth it and they no longer serve the cute muffins of corn and bran I think. Those were so good. The rolls are what I consider a rip-off. Not worth it. Fish and chips....i personally did not like but others may. Crust falls completely off, cornmeal crust...lazy way to get "crispy" crust. It is ok but I did not enjoy and would not recommend personally. Cole slaw is what you think of when you envision cafeteria coleslaw---but not soggy since better "elevated" cuts of veggies. No flavor. Don't waste calories or $. Overall- still good place for lunch. Service is mixed. Weird wait at hostess stand at noon with servers looking back but not greeting. Lag in wait for drinks. But staff is always nice.

Yelp
Great ambiance, no doubt. But the food is absolutely soulless. Ya can't front in ATL and use the word 'Southern' in your name and serve that level of meh. The service was very good and admittedly charming enough to earn the moniker. I think I had some version of the Shrimp and Grits. Sad as * And expensive Pretty sure this is the ONLY place I have been to in Atlanta that had boring grits. Chicago has better grits than this. (That's right. I said it). Until the chef can up their game this is a one night stand - y'all can do better

Yelp
Love Southern Bistro! Food is consistently good and service is always great. Easy parking and convenient neighborhood restaurant.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday for brunch. I came with a group of 7 people and a dog. We chose to come here as they provided outdoor seating and after talking with the hostess she joined 2 tables together to accommodate us. While we waited for our waiter, someone comes and tells us that we have to sit seperately and they needed for us to sit like that for people to walk through. This was annoying as there really wasn't anyone there at the patio and they not only made us put that table together, they made US move it apart as well. However, our server was amazing. He really was so kind and got us treats for the dog. The food was okay, I felt it was quite salty. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately not

Yelp
Service was just off. It was clear the server was having a bad day, but it felt like the rest of the crew wasn't interested in helping. After not seeing our server for 20 minutes, I raised it to the hostess to check on her. Took us over an hour to get our food, didn't get drink refills. Food was okay, not tremendous. Overall odd experience.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately and greeted by our waiter in less than a minute. The menu isn't very extensive, but with the quality selections, it doesn't need to be. The food and service were both top notch.
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and great quality food I ordered the buttermilk biscuit breakfast and the food was so beautifully made. I also enjoyed their selection of hot loose tea. It was a really great place to enjoy brunch and great plates as well.

Yelp
I finally made it to Southern Bistro! This local Bistro is the best of feeling like a comfortable, local gem for anyone with the addition of truly delicious food and good service. I went for dinner and enjoyed the bread rolls and fried green tomatoes to start. Yum! The bread was warm and yeasty and green tomatoes came with goat cheese and delicious toppings. For dinner I enjoyed the duck and sweet potato gratin(so rich) and my date had steak frites. We finished our plates. The weekends in particular get busy so you'll want to make a reservation. The parking lot has ample space! Prices are great for the quality.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious fried chicken and great service what else do you need? Can't wait to walk in the front door again and order the exact same meal!

Kianna P.

Yelp
My salad was great! The portion size was just fine. And the dressing was on the lighter side which i enjoyed since steak was a heavy option.

Yelp
Saw that this restaurant had high ratings, so I came here for brunch on Sunday but it didn't live up to the hype. I made a reservation online beforehand. I got to try a couple of dishes - the Egg Benedict, Egg White Omelet, and Breakfast Biscuit. The breakfast biscuit was huge but unfortunately really dry. The egg Benedict was a little salty. Although food was okay, service was great. The waitress was super nice and would come check up on us frequently. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere since we sat indoors.
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
Okay food and good service. The dishes look great and don't taste bad, but unfortunately, none of them were that good. We tried a wide range of them, and nothing has us interested in returning - other than that it is a convenient location.
google avatar

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants in the Atlanta area. The food here is always cooked to order with fresh ingredients. Any dish you order is a great choice. There are several people on the wait staff making for a quality experience. Any server you get rest assured that you're in good hands. The environment itself is clean and well run. The chef and owner is closely engaged with how the restaurant functions at a high level. I've been going here for years as my parents are locals and we've never had a bad meal or experience. I recommend Southern Bistro with the utmost confidence
google avatar

Cassandra K.

Yelp
A friend and I went there for brunch, we were seated at the time of our reservation which is a plus! The Brioche French Toast was delish! The service was quick, the location ideal with parking available in the plaza. The inside was quaint and cozy! I will return to try other entrees!

Tom M.

Yelp
Service excellent. The food was ok. But 18.00 for a plain hamburger seems excessive.

Yelp
In my conscious effort to always try something new, I stumbled upon Southern Bistro while scrolling on Open Table. I was impressed by the images displayed and decided to book a table. Upon arriving, you are intrigued by the outside appearance itself. The restaurant has an all-glass front and sits in the corner of the shopping center. It's almost like its own little comfort world. Walking in, The hostess stand is directly to the right of the door, you can't miss it The hostess was present and greeted me with a smile The restaurant is very clean You are met with an aroma of good seasonings and southern comfort Booking via Open Table made the experience even as my table was ready and I was seated immediately. The best part is, traffic had me a few minutes late and the 10 minute grace period came in handy! Upon being seated, my waiter came over within moments and he was an absolute pleasure. He walked up with a smile, greeted everyone, presented the specials for the day, and was ready for our drink order. I am talking top-tier service. #Priceless The menu has a variation of items that are perfect for a person like me who didn't have a specific taste for anything particular. I decided on the "SPRINGER MT. FRIED CHICKEN" dish with Whipped Potato and Green Beans. Let's Talk Food!!! The Fried Chicken was perfectly golden fried. I am talking deep-fried to perfection with the golden color on the outside and moist meat on the inside. The chicken is seasoned with caution, meaning, you can taste the flavoring but they aren't too powerful and allow for the natural taste of the meat to be present. The Chicken Gravy provided the added flavor to the meat as you can tell that the flavor focus was within the gravy itself to form the ideal pairing with the chicken. I'm not a "Chicken Gravy" person usually, but with this dish, it made sense and works perfectly. The Green Beans were firm just how I like them with all of the Green Bean flavor present. The Whipped Potato was an absolute pleasure to devour. LoL! Real potato, well seasoned, and whipped to perfection. These are the melt in your mouth kind of potatoes where you eat them slowly to make them last. LoL! For Dessert, I decided on the Lemon Chess Pie.. Babeeeeeeeee... I am talking Robust Flavor, Great Crust, Perfect amount of Lemon, which combined makes you want to write home to Mama kind of good. Oh me oh my. This pie is a slice of soulful goodness and I am going back for more. LoL Overall this was an amazing experience and I will be back. The portions were good for the price and the flavor profiles are a tongue pleasing delight. The service provided is above standard and adds to the amazing culture of Southern Bistro. If you're in the area and want a bite, make sure to add this to your "Must Go" list. Service- 10/10 Food- 10/10 Ambiance- 10/10 Cleanliness- 10/10 Recommend- Definitely

Yelp
Didn't love it. Ordered the salmon salad-very underwhelming. Just some plain spinach with some sliced strawberries, quarter Avacado and onions... quite dull. Had been there a few weeks ago and ordered the bread, which was quite good. Replaced it this time with basic rolls that would come as customary bread service elsewhere. Overall disappointing
google avatar

Yelp
Good food. Nice ambience. Server did spill my drink on me ... but was very sorry, and really not something I'd like to ding the restaurant on.

Yelp
Wonderful dining experience. Service is great and the food has never disappointed. We enjoy eating on the covered patio. We usually come off hours (not on purpose, just kinda how it always happens). Our lunch/dinner is usually around 3pm when we venture to this side of town. Hubby always gets the Georgia trout - he says it's too good to not get everytime! He almost opted for the Fish & Chips because he saw it was made with Mahi-mahi; but alas he stuck with the trout. {LOL} I have sampled a little bit of everything on the menu and I have never been unhappy. Southern Bistro is a gem!! [Sorry there are no photos - we devoured the tasty food before thinking about photos - oops!!]

Yelp
We were looking for a great brunch/lunch spot somewhere between Alpharetta and Buckhead to meet our friends & catch up and this was GREAT! It's located in a shopping center, but don't let that steer you away... it's a hidden gem. It does just say "Bistro" on the exterior, which could be confusing, but if you see that, you're there. Parking: Plenty, no issues Ambiance: It's very southern, comfortable, and warm overall. So cute! It was adorable seeing people walk in (that post-Church crowd on a Sunday) and so many people knew eachother, were hugging, and not even expecting to see one another there. Service: Amazing!! From the hospitality at the hostess stand to the quality of service from our waitress, it was an amazing experience. I asked if they had decaf coffee, and she said "I'll brew you some!" without any complaints, or even saying they would have to make some... she just did it and I thought that was very sweet. Food: Delish! My favorite were the cheddar grits. I grew up on my Nana's grits, so I'm super picky with these, but they nailed it. I also got the house salad with grilled salmon, and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Had a Bloody Mary to go along with everything, which was delish and the perfect touch. My husband got the burger and loved it, and his friend got the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and he ate it all up. Cons: None! We will definitely be back when we're in town and will be recommending this to friends!

Yelp
Great servers! Great food! Salads, chicken, shrimp and grits all great! Never too crowded. Get your butts over here.

Yelp
This Southern girl went to @southernbistroatl ! Last night I just wanted to grab somewhere nice yet, low key. A quick search on @opentable lead me to @southernbistroatl. I can't resist brussel sprouts so, I ordered them from my app. They were perfect. Nicely seasoned, crispy and flavorful The portion size was huge as you can see. I saw the 3 meat meatloaf and decided to give it a try with the Mac and mash on the side. The entree wasn't bad yet, the Mac was missing something; the mash as well. I never add salt and pepper to my food but I definitely did last night. Honestly...the Meatloaf, Mash and Mac gave me glorified t.v dinner vibes. Everything looked so GOOD...I was disappointed the flavor didn't match. I won't say I'll never try them out again because I will. I saw there was a Salmon BLT on the menu.... Service was great as Sean was my waiter. He did a great job of checking on me throughout my sitting.

Yelp
Loved the space, the food was top notch as was our service . All around winner. Super easy parking too!

Yelp
I was hungry for catfish and ordered their fried catfish sandwich. The catfish was crispy and spiced just right. I loved their coleslaw that accompanied it. Although busy, the noise level was low and it was easy to hear conversation at our table. The server was very attentive. Always a pleasure to eat at this restaurant.

Shawn D.

Yelp
We absolutely love this restaurant! Brunch is our usual fare here which is excellent by the way, tonight we made it for dinner and were thrilled with the meals. My mother is on a restricted diet and they always accomodate. She had the Rainbow Trout and I has the special Grilled Sea Bass. If you love southern food with a modern twist and clean cuisine this is your place! For those of you who like heavier fare theres always plenty of red meat and fried chicken. Good food, great service and reasonable prices!

Yelp
Purely food based review: Valentine's Day T-Bone steak special ($36) - Amazingly cooked medium steak that was shared between two people. Sides: Deviled eggs were good. Their collard greens have some home flavor to them that's different from traditional southern style, more tangy. Overall would recommend for a slightly fancy date night!

linda s.

Yelp
Service was good. We always start with deviled eggs, which are excellent...then we ordered meat loaf, which was pretty good but a bit too dense, and I had kale salad, which was generous and very good, and buffalo chicken meatballs. The meatballs were good, but the sauce was burnt on to the bottom of the cast iron skillet they were cooked in. I would've needed a chisel to scrape up any sauce. So the whole dish was mediocre. I told the server, and she agreed with me that it was overcooked, but she didn't share that with the chef or manager. A classy restaurant would have either comped the dish or offered a complimentary dessert, but that didn't happen. Deviled eggs are not enough of an incentive to go back there.

Yelp
This is definitely being added to my list of top brunches in Atlanta. From beginning to end it was a perfect meal with great service. Starting with the "Grand Mimosa" which is topped with Grand Marnier for an extra kick. I subbed cranberry juice instead of orange and it was the best mimosa I've had all year. (Close 2nd to the Peach mimosa at 5Church) We had the egg rolls and they were so delicious. Chopped boiled eggs never tasted so good and seasoned with peppers. I had the fried green tomato benedict and baby.....God Bless the Chef for his good work. It was SO scrumptious. Perfect biscuit, perfect amount of sauce. Perfect frying of the tomato. I absolutely loved it.   We also split some French toast so have something sweet on the table and it was really good.   This was a lot of food, but our waited was very encouraging the whole way motivating us not to give up!

Cory P.

Yelp
I have many things to say about my most recent experience at Southern Bistro. First and foremost, the hostess and our waiter was rude to us from the beginning of brunch. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated (the restaurant was not full). Once we got seated, we quickly ordered and carried on. Our waiter proceeded to verbally assault my 90 year old grandfather for asking for fries to be heated (they were cold when they were served). He was extremely aggressive and almost physically assaulted my grandfather, again a 90 year old man. After this altercation, the waiter never came back to our table to check on us or give us our check at the end of the meal. My sister had to get up to find him to give him our credit card and he would not speak to her. Next, as mentioned above the food was subpar. My food was served incorrectly and almost everyone's dishes were cold and we were afraid to send anything back since the waiter acted so incredibly inappropriately and unprofessionally to my grandfather. To make matters worse, this all happened at my mother's birthday brunch. An event that was supposed to be celebratory was pretty much ruined by the waitstaff. I will never be back to this restaurant and strongly advise people to avoid this establishment.

Yelp
Ok so I needed a last minute brunch spot so I decided to try Southern Bistro. We walked in to a empty dining room filled with smoke. Our server came over to take our order and I was very concerned. We requested to move outside due to the smoke. After 20 minutes our food came out and boy it looked and smelled fantastic! Listen the lemon blueberry pancakes will stop traffic. You gotta order!! I was pleasantly surprised at this delightful experience!! I will definitely go back!!

Yelp
We had such a great meal here! The food was very tasty, came out hot (if it was supposed to be hot!) and cooked to perfection. The server was a lovely woman who was friendly and chatty, and really brought up the whole feel of the meal - I hope they're paying her enough because she's one of the best staff I've seen in a while. Tasty drinks; nice bar with a tv if you're dining solo. The restaurant wasn't too loud, which is very nice, considering a lot of places crank the music so it's hard to have a conversation. I didn't go to the restroom, but a member of my party did, and said they were small but clean - one person at a time. I got the duck, and my only complaint was that there are two pretty sweet sides served with a relatively small duck breast, so I'd recommend subbing one of the sides for something more savory or with some more acid. The portion of scallops was relatively small compared to other meals, and I'd recommend adding another side or you'll be hungry. The chicken is epic. If you get mashed potatoes, make sure to get gravy, and you may need to add some salt - but most of this is just personal preferences. Will definitely eat here again when I can.

Rita S.

Yelp
I found out that this place is known as the local alcoholic's bar! The food is good and the service is good though.

Yelp
Came across this cute bistro in a search for a good place to brunch near my nail salon. I was not disappointed. I was greeted warmly as soon as I entered and was seated quickly. I ordered a mimosa and the chicken and waffles. I'd never had them before anywhere, but I was curious to try as theirs come with collard greens and a white sauce(?). While I wasn't fond of the combination, each item was delicious on its own. I'll be returning soon to try something else as they had a lot of delicious options. The restaurant is nicely decorated and plenty of space was given between tables for social distancing.

Chris R.

Yelp
Great spot. I have been here a number of times and never been disappointed. A hidden neighborhood gem.

Yelp
Awful service, awful bloody Mary's, awful brunch Had sausage eggs Benedict.. took sausage home for my cat.. how does this place still be in business ?

Yelp
First time visiting. Enjoyed a late lunch for party of two on a Friday afternoon. Quiet, quaint, well spaced tables, great safety protocols and true southern charm. Enjoyed deviled egg appetizer and decided on comfort food, so meatloaf entree for me and guest had shrimp and grits. Server was excellent so we took him up on his suggestion for their famous caramel pound cake dessert and WOWWW!! If nothing else, you must indulge in that. It was truly wonderful.

Yelp
My go-to for lunch, brunch and dinner! Friends I've ' brought with' have requested returning!

Yelp
Love the chopped steak and tomahawk pork chop. Best ole fashion I've ever had. Daily specials are good too.

Yelp
We eat here about once a week. Service tonight was so good that we decided it was time to write a review! Liza was so sweet and helpful. She was fast, attentive, and knowledgeable, funny and personable. Food is always consistently good. Staples include the burger, the chicken sandwich, and fish tacos. Kids menu is great and the patio is such a fun place to take our dog with its own little doggie menu. Super pet friendly!
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
6/20/21 My daughter brought me here for Father's Day and we arrived 25 minutes early, but they sat us anyway. We had a relatively new server, but he was still very good. We both had the Crabcakes Benedict and we ordered whole wheat blueberry pancakes on the side. Needless to say, we each took one of the crabcakes home for later and most all of the blueberry pancakes because we were so full. The food was really good and so was service and I am anxious to go back again to try the fried chicken and waffles. I was bad last night so I tried to be better today.
google avatar

Yelp
A nice and accommodating restaurant in a convenient location with parking. We had the yeast rolls, fish tacos, hanger steak, salmon, and scallops- all which were VERY good. Not to mention, the bread pudding was AMAZING. Will be back again. Thank you!

Steve A.

Yelp
I ordered the "boneless" chicken pot pie. The food arrived and I saw bones sticking out of the chicken. I pulled out the bones. Next I saw a 3 inch piece of plastic floating in the bowl. It was a plastic ramekin top. I called the waiter and showed him the plastic floating in my dinner. He said I'll take it back to the kitchen & he gave me a menu so I could order something else. He did not apologize, instead he laughed & cracked a bad joke. I expected the manager would arrive & apologize. He didn't, so I left the table to find him. He said he was sorry about the plastic in my food & said he would not charge me for my dinner, but he was charging the other six people at my table for their food. I will NEVER eat there again!!!

Michael M.

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting Atlanta and we were searching for southern cuisine near our hotel. We were more than satisfied with the quality and flavor of our food. I had the chicken pot pie and Coca-Cola braised collared greens while my wife had the fried green tomatoes. The food was top-notch. The ambiance was very comfortable. For dessert, we had the pound cake with caramel and whipped cream which was so decadent. I would highly recommend stopping in when in the area.

Yelp
The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER.. I was seated in the back outside.. No one came to my table..I went to the hostess asked her for a server.. No server..I asked the other servers can they please get me a server.. Finally someone came after 15 minutes.. No lie.. She said I'm not your server but I'm going to get her.. She came back after 5 minutes and said I will be your server.. She took my order. Haven't seen her since.. Someone else brought my drink and someone else brought my check.. Yes I'm BLACK.. THE ONLY BLACK WOMAN/PERSON in the restaurant . This is the WORST.. RACISM AT ITS BEST..
