While the fried chicken sandwich is what Southern Comfort Kitchen is most known for, it’s not what I craved on my first visit. Rather, I ordered small portions of the crab fries and crawfish étouffée. The fries were delicious, with a healthy amount of rock crab lumped on top along with Old Bay aioli and Cajun seasonings on the fries themselves. The dish has plenty of green onions, and I love green onions. The fries had a great crunch, and they did not go limp under the aioli sauce. The crawfish étouffée’s sauce was rich with mellow spices. I appreciated its generous helping of green onions as well, though I did wish for more crawfish. Regardless, the étouffée combined nicely with the rice and the side of baguette that they provided even with my “small” portion. My husband ordered a quarter muffaletta sandwich and a side of regular fries. The quarter looked large enough to satisfy a light appetite, with a copious amount of cheese melting out the sides. Of course, I had to go back to try the fried chicken sandwich. I should note that it's not a "hot chicken" sandwich, but an amazing classic one without chile heat. Two freshly fried chicken breasts are served on the bun with a red vinegar coleslaw, pickles, and more of the Old Bay aioli. The incredible tastes and tingles from the herbs and spices in this well-seasoned batter thrilled my tastebuds. I refrained from drizzling over Crystal hot sauce once I realized how lovely the sandwich was without it--this one just plain doesn't need that extra zest. The coleslaw’s vinegar dressing tang, the pickle brine, and the creamy aioli all mingle with those seasonings, making a near-perfect mix of flavors and textures for a sandwich. No notes. Wonderful. If you’re craving good Cajun cooking, I don’t think you can do much better than Southern Comfort Kitchen in the Bay Area.

I was going to give it 3, but I haven’t tried everything on the menu and the food does “look” good. I really wanted to like this place a lot, but I have to be honest with myself and what I’ve tasted. The chicken sandwich looks great and is a hefty portion, but the chicken was dry and the bread was also as well. I’m wondering if the bread was a bit too toasted, a bit burnt at the edges though that’s negligible. Sauce and slaw didn’t really add much to the experience. Ultimately the chicken sandwich was passable. I also got the crab fries because it was highly recommended. Unfortunately, the crab meat was a bit lacking. It was all shredded which probably was the reason it lacked a bit of that crab flavor. It felt watery when eaten alone. So basically, the crab fries was fries with some added texture. I was hoping it really gave a bit of the crab punch, but unfortunately not. The Cajun seasoning and sauce overpowers a tasteless crab meat so it felt like money wasted. Fries were good though, so I’d get them by themself next time. Both items look amazing though, perfect for the gram. I’m hoping to try some of their other dishes and hopefully they are better than what I had.

Parking plenty Clean & great natural lighting. Didnt wait long to be seated for a party of 3 on a Sunday morning. It was busy though. Service, great. Every worker that interacted with my family and I was welcoming & friendly. Every bite of everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. Portions were PERFECT especially for my family & I.

If you are on the lookout for some good creole cuisine or just want to try something new, look no further from Southern comfort food. They got some hefty po’ boys and flavourful étouffée. You order at the counter and wait for the delicious food. Service was fast on the day we went as we didn’t have to wait long. We got some Mac and cheese which is little different from the home made one. This was bit tough but tasted good. The Crawfish Étouffée was large portioned and tasted delicious. Hush puppies were piping hot and fresh. They also have beignets on weekends. All they are missing is some oceanside swamps and views to make this a perfect Louisiana backwaters hangout. Geaux Tigers!

Google
Order shrimp and grits with brown sugar brussel sprouts and brown sugar lemonade, it was really really good, I enjoyed not only the meal, the music and atmosphere was lively, and enjoyable. I would definitely eat here again and maybe try the pasta, it all looked amazing. Well prepared, and tasty!!!!

Southern Comfort Kitchen is a great spot for anyone craving bold, authentic Southern flavors. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff was friendly and welcoming, setting a great tone for our meal. Now, onto the food—overall, it was delicious! The gumbo was rich and hearty, with a deep, flavorful roux that tasted like it had been simmering all day. The jambalaya was perfectly seasoned, with a nice balance of spice that gave a little kick without being overwhelming. We also tried the shrimp and grits, which had a creamy, flavorful sauce that paired beautifully with the perfectly cooked blacken shrimp. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that while we were waiting for for our order, a server came to clean our table, she sprayed the table while we were seated at the table. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it was an unpleasant experience. On with the food, portions were generous, and the flavors made it well worth the wait. Overall, this is a solid choice for Cajun and Southern comfort food. If you’re in the mood for hearty, flavorful dishes in a relaxed and welcoming setting, I’d definitely recommend giving this place a try. I’ll be back to explore more of the menu!

Google
The service was fast and friendly. Ordered a few things: hush puppies (7/10), Mac n cheese (7/10 - could have cooked it a bit more), 50/50 Cajun platter with crab fries (7/10 for the catfish, 8/10 for shrimp and 8/10 for crab fries), and catfish po'boy( 8.74/10). It got busy after we got there so for sure they have good stuff there. What we got was okay but maybe I'll go again to try something completely different.

So many flavors. Amazing food. Had the shrimp and grits and it was soo good. Hot and fresh

Yelp
This seems to be hands down my favorite soul food place when it comes to gumbo, fried chicken, fried catfish, etc in the East Bay. So glad that they now have a branch in Alameda and not just a food truck that comes on Saturday at South shore. At the CV site, service especially on weekends and holidays are rough. There's just a long line of people waiting and being in a small place and also a small parking lot, it can get difficult if you're not ready. So this is a fair warning. The ambiance of the place is on the louder side and due to it being packed on weekends and holidays, you know what to expect with the mass of people, a busy kitchen crew, and busy staff. If you have the right expectation, then you'll do fine.

Yelp
I live in San Francisco, but Southern Comfort Kitchen is always on my wishlist for places that I wish weren't so far! It's not often I come out to CV, but every time I do, I think about coming here. It's an order at the front and find your own table type of restaurant, but they have very solid tasting southern food that hits the spot and satisfies that craving! The catfish is consistently tender, well seasoned, and mighty flavorful. Portions are nice and quite filling overall. Good amount of seating, not too noisy, and very friendly staff make this place a definite recommend!

Yelp
Casual dining. They have tables and chairs inside, but place is mostly busy for take out. Service was fast, 10 minutes after ordering, we got our food. A little pricey, servings were not as big. Around $16-$20 per order. The fried shrimps with Cajun fries were delicious and flavorful. The seafood gumbo was delicious but it didn't have a lot of seafood. It was soup with some shrimp and rice but it was very tasty and flavorful. They have lots of parking in the back.

Yelp
We came in for some late lunch 2pm on Saturday and there was plenty of parking. It's a spot where you order and then sit wherever is open. It seemed like they had a lot of takeout orders and a lot of people coming in and out. The seating was limited so it felt a bit homey. We ordered a crawfish etouffe and fried catfish with fries. That was plenty of food to share for two and we had leftovers after. The fried catfish was delicious. The batter wasn't too thick and everything wasn't too oily. Loved the fish flavor came through. Crawfish etouffe didn't have a lot of crawfish but the overall flavor was nice. I would probably order takeout and maybe add some cooked frozen crawfish to it. Want to try the grits next time!
google avatar

Linda Z.

Yelp
I had really high hopes for this place considering the reviews. Sadly will not be coming back. Carb to protein ratio is super off. In what world is anyone eating 3 cups+ worth of grits? 7 pieces of burnt tasting shrimp. There is a difference between burned and blackened. Flavor profile was flat, no dimension, just salt & cajun. Ordered Hush puppies and the least to say is I've had better. Texture was tok grainy for my liking personally. I would recommend in investing in better quality ingredients instead of high quantity carbs that will def lead to unnecessary food waste.

Yelp
I visited Southern Comfort Kitchen for a mid-afternoon snack with extended family and found it to be a worthwhile experience. We ordered the Seafood platter, Gumbo, and an extra side of fries to share. I felt happy to be sharing the food because it was fried and rich, but was quite good. I particularly enjoyed the gumbo but noticed that I didn't receive any pieces of okra in the entree bowl - I'm used to okra in gumbo, so was surprised. The seating inside is limited but we had no trouble finding a table for the 6 of us that day. The service was also very good and I noted a warm greeting and pleasant experience ordering. Overall, I was happy to have given this establishment a try and would return for my Southern food fix in the Bay Area.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! Easy to miss, parking lot is small and gets crowded fast. Restaurant is small with limited seating indoors and two tables outdoors. It can get busy and crowded very fast. I would recommend going during non busy hours so you can find parking as well as find a table so you can sit and enjoy your meal! The food here is incredible -- flavorful and comforting! Definitely would recommend and one of the best restaurants in Castro Valley!

Yelp
Tried southern comfort kitchen for dinner. Everything on the menu sounded great and we wanted to try a variety, so we got a side macaroni, side jambalaya, and seafood gumbo. The sides are large portions. You could get a couple of sides and call it a meal. The seafood gumbo was filling and flavorful. Prices were reasonable for the amount of food given. The service was quick. But where we were sitting there were quite a few bugs, which was uncomfortable when eating. Otherwise food was good and we will be back next time to try more items.

Sydnie M.

Yelp
We've been coming to Soco Kitchen for a while and usually enjoy it -- especially the seafood platter, which is typically a good amount of food for the price. On New Year's Eve, I decided to order the gumbo. While it tasted good, it was mostly roux and rice. Only having one shrimp and one small piece of sausage. For $16.10, that was pretty disappointing. It was not as advertised. I honestly would've preferred the item be taken off the menu like a lot of other items that evening. Serving a significantly pared-down version at full price just didn't sit right. I still like this restaurant, it's perfect for take out. I'm hoping this was just a one-off due to the holiday rush, but I wanted to share this for transparency. The seafood platter and shrimp po boys with crab fries was up to par thankfully. So my review only reflects the gumbo.

Yelp
We ordered a dinner takeout on a Friday night and there's private lot for parking! The restaurant itself seems small, and seems to be a place where you order at the counter and find your own table. We ordered the 50/50 with cajun fries, fried chicken strips, and the appetizer crawfish etouffee. I wasn't the biggest fan of the fish - it had a really overpowering fishy smell to it, but the breading was so crispy and flavorful! The shrimp were pretty small, but again, the flavor of the breading saved it for me! The tartar sauce they provide was also great! I thought the fries were a little soggy, but that could be from the drive back home. The chicken strips were juicy - a standard well done chicken strip. The crawfish etouffee was my favorite thing that we ordered. The roux was delightful, so savory, and they definitely do not skimp on the crawfish! Super peppery and warming, just such a hearty dish!

Yelp
I went to Southern Comfort Kitchen again and as per usual ordered my regular order of gumbo and it was amazing. I really do enjoy coming to this place and being able to have access to such great gumbo in the Bay Area is really a special thing to have. The service is always warm and friendly. Everyone there seems like they're part of the neighborhood. The fried catfish is absolutely delicious as well. It's got the right kind of breading if you know what I mean. Everything was speedy. The food comes out on time and nice and hot. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. Overall, it's always an experience for the senses to dine here and I will continue to recommend this place.

Yelp
Came to have lunch with my fiance. The service was pretty good. The menu is posted higher up, no pics of the food are on the menu. If you want to eat there, you order and pay for food first and then take it to your table when it's ready. The bathroom was fairly clean. There is only one private stall for men and women in the restaurant to share. Food was delicious. Definitely plan on coming back.

Yelp
This is such a great Southern comfort food spot in East Bay, close to the shopping center in Castro Valley. Definitely recommend what we got! 1. 50/50 with Cajun fries (shrimp and catfish) 2.Gumbo 3. Hush puppies--5 pieces Parking was easy to find in front of the restaurant, thought I'm sure it helped that we came before noon.

Yelp
Tuesday lunch time, never had southern food before, mama brought me here to try. It looks like a quick grab a bite place at a glance but nuuuuuuuu. Young gentleman at the counter, throwing back countering jokes, very friendly. Solid guy to be at the front. We ordered fried fish, hush puppies, and grits with blackend shrimp. Fried fish was different from other fried fish. There were some kinda grains coated outside the batter. Added extra grainy texture as well as flavor. Hush puppies, i dont normally like corn bread. Heavy, consistency i dont like, sweets not a fan. But a deep fried savory and light corn bread? Yes please. Grits. Ok some of us ASIAN asians dont give American food enough credit. Most of us think of just pizza, burger, spaghetti, etc. Creamy rice and the tangy and sour sauce on top, with charred smoky shrimp? Full of 3 solid and amazing flavors combined into 1 dish. Absolutely amazing. (And green onions on top?) Needless to say more, mama was right yet again, this joint 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Delicious and huge portions! Small parking lot in the front but more parking available in back. Self serve for fountain drinks, utensils, and napkins. Great place for families, couples, and takeout.

Yelp
Met up with my high-school friend visiting from out of state whom we visited NOLA together in our younger years. This place has a good selected of food that will remind you of your trips to the Big Easy. I settled on the catfish po'boy and regular fries. Service is quick and friendly. The portion was pretty good and I had left overs. Love how they give a side of remoulde. The favor was good and fish was nicely battered and cooked through and dressed. Ordered the sweet tea which was just as tasty. The only bad thing was the doors didn't shut properly and it was chilly and so the cold would be coming in and we had to keep getting up to close the doors together. Hopefully they fix this. Other than that, I will be back to order more items.

Rick M.

Yelp
Mediocre food for its price and portions. Had the seafood platter which came with 4 small shrimp, 3 oysters and few pieces of fried catfish On a bed of fries for $32 !!! Nothing to wow about beside its price. Felt like I got ripped off or the people here don't know how to eat.
google avatar

Felix D.

Yelp
Definitely will have to stop by again. The staff was friendly and the food was very flavorful. I tried their shrimp and grits and although not my favorite, the shrimp has a lot of flavor and the grits mixed well with the sauce. The chicken tenders were crispy yet tender on the inside and the fries and macaroni and cheese pair well with the meal. Definitely a spot to ball out and satisfy your Cajun cravings.
google avatar

Yelp
Happiest of Junteenths! Today a friend and I stopped by for lunch and the line was out the door! It didn't look as if we were going to get a place to site, but we lucked out! This time, I had the blackened shrimp & grits combo plate - MAN, that was delicious! So far everything has been great at every stop! Quality, friendliness, and taste has me wanting to stop more often! Worth every hard-earned penny!!

Yelp
Great food and great service...this was one of my favorite spots to eat at when I was staying in Castro Valley
google avatar

Jazlene T.

Yelp
This place proves to be a fan favorite every time I eat here. The service is always smooth, Tatianna helped me out and suggested what I should order. She took care of me and was attentive to customer's needs. Sometimes the lines get long so I suggest ordering online for pickup if you're in a rush. There is a pickup table designated for these orders. Either way, the staff moves as quick as they could and I appreciate that. You can opt to eat at a table inside or outside. My favorites are the sweet tea, crab fries, brussel sprouts, and who dat shrimp. Their poboys are fire as well, next time I'll be sure to try the Crawfish pasta and the beignets on Sundays. This time we ordered: Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich with Cajun Fries 10/10 Cajun Crab Fries 11/10 never disappoints! I love this place and I'm grateful they have a location in Castro Valley. Support local family businesses!
google avatar

Praveen B.

Yelp
Great flavors in general. The hush puppies and brussel sprouts were very good as apetizers. The southern fried chicken sandwich was really good, a little more heat and it would taste even better. Lil weezy chicken and rice were good. The jambalaya and crawfish pasta also had good distinct flavors. Only complaint would be to have may be a but more crawfish in the crawfish pasta. Will definitely visit again.
google avatar

Lynn T.

Yelp
My favorite Southern comfort spot! I liked everything that I tried here: Hush puppies, Mac & Cheese, Seafood platter: fish, oyster, shrimp, and soft shell crab. Don't forget their dipping sauce, goes well with everything. The staff here are hardworking and helpful when you need anything. Will definitely be returning to try their crawfish pasta.
google avatar

Krisstina C.

Yelp
I haven't been back to this place in years, but it's just as good as I remember! We ordered the Who Dat Chicken Strips with Cajun Fries and the Fried Catfish with upgraded Crab Fries. Upgrading to crab fries was only $5 extra and came with a big portion. Although it was pretty busy, the food was great and we didn't wait longer than 15 minutes for our order. Their customer service is great. Really nice smiles upon walking in. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Tried to call in to go order Them: "Hello?" .... Me: "Is this southern comfort" Them: "Yeah it is" Me: "Okay can I make an order to go please" Them: "You gotta go to the website" Am I bothering you? Unprofessional but ok whatever, I'm hungry. I put in my order and go for pick up. Same person who was unprofessional on the phone is unprofessional in person. *No greeting "Hi I'm here for a pick up" *She points to back Go to the next person Me: "Hi how you doing? I have a pick up order" Her "Your name?" Give her my first name Them; "It's not ready" Me: "Ok how much longer do you think?" She walks off and ask someone else Her; "Whats your last name?" Give her last name *Points to food" ??? Look through my order make sure it's correct. Ask for hot sauce another guy with a filthy hat and stains all over his shirt comes over, reached over my outstretched hand and dumps it in the bag. I shake my head and ask for a few more. Guy then makes a comment about putting it in my hand (yeah I reached for it so I expect you to drop it in my hand) says I seem frustrated. I reply "Yes, your cashier is rude, your person giving out the food is rude so yes after those interactions It would definitely be justified to be frustrated about the lack of service" His response was to say that I have "a face that looks angry and that's why" I was treated the way I was. Seems like absolutely the wrong thing to say to a customer and almost discriminatory. If you determine your level of service on how people look, you should not be in any type of service industry. If I wasn't absolutely starving I would've just returned the food. I retorted by just saying I will not be coming back and left. Got in my car and started to eat and saw that the meal was short. I didn't even get my full order of oysters. Fries were stale and most the order was cold even though I was at the restaurant before the order was supposed to be ready. I've only come to this location 3 times and each time there's been a small inconvenience I've been willing to over look. After this time I will not make that mistake ever again. I hardly ever write reviews unless there's some type of egregious unprofessional behavior that people should know about. Food is far too expensive to not get the quality you are expecting and have to deal with bad attitudes and people judging my "face" smh. I hope it reads as ridiculous to you as it was for me to experience it. I'd give negative stars if I could.
google avatar

Dan C.

Yelp
I ordered online so I didn't have to wait. Orders are taken at the counter. Today I wanted southern cooking and this place didn't disappoint whatsoever. The food is still hot, tasty, & has just enough spice to bring out the flavor. The restaurant has background music in the background. The theme pictures on the wall is a dedicated to New Orleans + Mardi Gras. This place is a definitely a repeat for me if I am ever in the area again.
google avatar

Emily P.

Yelp
Came here during noon ish, took 10-15mins to receive my food. Mac & cheese(4/5) the shells are still a bit hard, there's a good amount of cheese tho. Chicken strips (3/5): the chicken strips are pretty bland without the ranch sauce they give, the Cajun fries are seasoned good (not sure if they shake it or how but the seasoning isn't well distributed). They have tables inside and I believe like two outside, but everyone Jess just ordering to go.

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Firstly, they only have cat fish which is farmed raised. Ordered the oysters instead and when the ordered came it had a bunch of fries and 4-5 measly oysters. We were so disappointed we asked for a refund. They denied us a refund! Paid too much for fries and 4 tiny oysters. Ridiculous! Look at the attachment.

Yelp
EXCEPTIONAL vittles, from the (not too) sweet tea through the 50/50 (shrimp/catfish) po'boy and crab fries, to the dynamite bread pudding and carrot cake (yes, I get two desserts! one for each half of my po'boy ). Staff is friendly enough and clearly effort is made on branding and decor. The only thing that disappoints?: plastic to go containers .
google avatar

Sophia G.

Yelp
Yummy and cute spot. Give a New Orleans vibe. Enjoyed the food place is clean and fast

Yelp
Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall: Food was standard fare. The extended review... Food: Shrimp and grits - 3/5 - A tasty dish. Who would say no to fried shrimp? Jambalaya - 3/5 - Again fairly tasty. Pretty standard fare compared to most. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 3/5 - Both indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
We went here for a family dinner & the servers made sure to make it a special meal, thank you! Service was friendly & attentive. We all tried & shared several dishes & all were good. Very flavorful with a hint, or a lot of, spice. Seafood galore! You must order the hush puppies to share & sweet tea. The shrimp dishes did not disappoint & neither did the Po' Boys.

Yelp
Deliciousness again!! Had to provide an updates Blackened Shrimp & Grits photo because it just looked soooo good!!

Yelp
Something unique and something different for bay area dining choice. You have to like southern soul food to like the food that they offer. It's worth trying. Staff is helpful and sweet. Bit expensive but it's seafood so it makes sense.
google avatar

Jomar A.

Yelp
You just have to try it. Everything is well seasoned and delicious. You're gonna leave with your soul feeling so satisfied. The service is so nice, their recommendations are always a hit and you won't regret it. That community review don't lie, this place is a must.
google avatar

Theresa S.

Yelp
The cat fish was an absolute dream. Crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. Super flavorful, seasoned perfectly and the mayo sauce that's paired with it was chefs kiss. Don't hesitate to try..and thank me later

Yelp
Wife and I Had the Dat shrimp with seasoned rice and I enjoyed it. Next time I'll get with grits. Daughter had catfish and fries and she didn't like the batter but I told her that was traditional , other daughter had etoufe which she enjoyed. Lemonade with brown sugar was the sweetest lemonade ever had. Decent portions and reasonable prices for nowadays

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for a while. Came in on a Saturday afternoon only one other person inside but it soon picked and the place was pretty full. We were helped pretty quickly by the young adult at the register. I got the shrimp and fries and my husband got the catfish and fries. We also got hush puppies they were over cooked so I wasn't pleased. The shrimp and fries were good. The catfish was ok it needed some more seasoning. Was a little annoyed that the cashier forgot to ring up our soda and even though multiple employees were standing around that could have helped us they sent us to stand back in the long line to pay for the soda while our food was getting cold. The carrot cake was on the slice is small for $6. Overall the food was ok. Not sure that I would come back though

Yelp
Soco Kitchen is such a staple of Castro Valley and I'm glad we have a decent restaurant in the area. I've never been a huge fan of the menu only because I'm not a fan of fried foods in general (because of bloating and stomach aches) but there are a few menu items that are decent if you're overall health conscious like me. Parking is limited & squishy here as it shares spots in a business plaza but there's usually space in the back or right out on the street so it's not too hard to find a spot. I do have to say their mac n cheese is some of the best I've had and I like to push my gluten sensitivity slightly and get the small size of this (which is enough for two people as is). Recently, I've discovered their SoCo house salad with southern fried chicken which is soooo good and doesn't make me feel bad on cheat days. The fried chicken is crispy and the walnuts and tomatoes with spring mix shaken together with one who dat sauce and two ranches (because their sauce cups are only half full) is the perfect combo. Again, not the biggest fan of this type of cuisine and how it affects my health & diet but there are a few gems that are worth coming and getting every so often!

Yelp
Wow, maybe I should've just gotten the catfish. But I'm not sure if I will ever be back. I don't eat California catfish. And I'm glad that they have Mississippi raised catfish. But something told me to order the shrimp and fries. The menu says it's gulf shrimp. But it's not gulf shrimp. I work alongside ServSafe and I know my seafood from a mile away. I should've had them show me a raw prawn/shrimp before I ordered. But I like to see the integrity of a business first. Oh yeah, did I mention it was only six shrimp The fries were old and cold. Tasted like they were already made in the morning and just re-dropped in the oil. And they should never call these Cajun fries. There's nothing Cajun about these fries. Maybe only the cheap Cajun seasoning that was on them. Overall, the employees were nice. But when I was waiting for the restroom, I think one of the female employees had to be doing drugs in the bathroom. Because she took a long time in there, and I didn't hear a toilet flush or water running. And she came out with her nose sniffling. And if she was just in there blowing her nose for that very long time, then she should've at least washed her hands. The ambience is decent. But the menu was so short. And I don't know how they call it southern comfort, cause there's really nothing southern or comfort about it. Just cause you're making Po-boys boys- crawfish étouffée - fried oysters, and have shrimp and grits on the menu doesn't make it southern comfort. The quality is very low for the price that they're charging. I don't think I'll be back. I almost forgot - the sweet tea lemonade almost gave me a heart attack. I had to cut it with water. But maybe that's just me.

Yelp
One of my go to places for a good, comforting meal when I don't feel like cooking. Even when I DoorDash, it comes fresh and yummy. I've tried almost everything and it's all delicious with that good Cajun, southern taste.

Yelp
My husband and I were in search of something yummy for dinner and we decided to try this place out. I've been there here before, but he had not. I went with my usual the blackened shrimp Poboy, which is absolutely delicious. They cooked the shrimp to the right temperature so it's not chewy and it's full of flavor. The French bread is soft and not a killer to the roof of your mouth. My husband went with the gumbo/jambalaya plate, which was unique and so delicious! We also shared a small portion of red beans and rice, which had a really good flavor to them. I've tried some red beans and rice at other southern style places that are not as good. Overall, the service is great the food is very, very good and I would give this place a shot. I also randomly stumbled upon their new location in Alameda, which I will have to try when I'm that side of the island.

Yelp
First time here and I loved it! Got a good plate before the warriors game and it hit the spot! Worth the wait honestly! Cashier was super friendly and helped me out with suggestions

Yelp
The years have gone by and I still love this place. I continue to enjoy the Who Dat chicken with rice. I can split it into two full meals for my eating enjoyment. The fried chicken sandwiches are also delicious and I fully recommend whenever anyone asks where my fav chicken sando is made. The brussel sprouts are super yummy and a great way to get in some veggies. Prices are very reasonable and customer service is excellent. To Go orders are always quick and it's easy to swing by and pick up my order on the way home. Thank you Southern Comfort Kitchen for keeping our restaurant game on point in CV!

Yelp
We had cajun crab fries and shrimp, catfish, and oyster. Yumm!!! The fried dishes were excellent with the sauces they provided, but the fries wasn't as creamy as I would liked. Perhaps more garlic aioli is needed. Overall experience was nice. The team helped us with decided between the popular dishes as well. It wasn't too busy inside, so there were enough seats to choose from. Perhaps around 20-30 people inside from the seating arrangements.

Yelp
The Mac and cheese is extremely dry and needs more cheese. The flavor of the cheese is non existent. The noodles could also be cooked a lot more, they are borderline gummy and way under al-dente. I was unable to finish this. Love the fried catfish. Perfectly fried and seasoned well. The crab fries are also dry and could use a different sauce (this ones tart) and the fries fried less hard. Decent portion sizes for the price. Also, ordered curbside and waited at the curb. Went in to pick up the order to be told "How are we supposed to know you're outside?" You tell me! This option should be removed if it cannot properly be accommodated. The lady shrugged her shoulders and told me to grab my order from the back table. I had my two toddlers in the car, I feel as though this was ridiculous. This is my third time at this restaurant. I don't see myself ordering anything else other than the catfish. The fries should be the easiest to master.

Yelp
I ordered their catfish po'boy a couple of times and it's very fulfilling they don't skimp on the catfish and let a one their catfish strips are long and thick not stingy like other sea food po'boy places that's just puts one little itty bitty lobster tail in their lobster po'boys lol so this catfish po'boy they have they put like big whole strips like 4 or 6 of them in there and it's like 2 whole fishes in your sandwich most likely because it could be two fish filet cut in half so it's really satisfying. And their veggies in it I swear it's pickled carrots like a bahn mi so it gives it a zing or maybe it's just the pickles they put in it and I'm exaggerating but I love it . And I order extra sauce on the side cuz it's great to put in the sandwich and their crab fries. The crab fries !! I swear my niece and I love it. I can eat them alone and get fulfilled. We like their food a lot .

Yelp
Fast paced service and high quality fish. The door was open that day that we visited and our side was rainy , so the breeze was giving me chill. Please make sure your costumers are happy with everything.
