Southern Custard

Very nice custard. I had a double scoop(small) black raspberry custard. There are tones of topping choices for those wanting a Etta treat. Some of the best custard I’ve had, smooth and creamy with lots of flavor. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pints of custard are available.

1st at the southern custard and it's pretty damn good. I tried their "poffertjes" which consists of silver dollar pancakes and 2 scoops of custard ice cream. Many different things to add to it, I choose the powdered sugar of the pancakes and vanilla custard with crumbled Reece cups! The mini pancakes really don't have a flavor which would be mu only complaint and reason they didn't get a 5star but the custard was very good and you should give them a try. Also if you stay to eat inside they have a complimentary ice and water machine if you need to wash the custard down.

Loved this custard place we visited recently. I found their custard creamy, flavorful and it had the right amount of sweetness which is very important for us. They keep their flavors simple but have a ton of options for the toppings. The must try would be their vanilla custard with their macerated berry topping. Give it a try if you are a Berry lover I promise you will not regret it.

I didn't realize custard could get this good until I tried Southern Custard! They switch the flavor of the day daily, which keeps things exciting. Our favorite so far has been the peanut butter chocolate, absolutely delicious! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a tasty treat!

I don't know why it's taken me so long to rate Southern Custard. Since I've moved to Atlanta I've been to Southern Custard probably 20+ times. It is BY FAR the best Custard I've ever had. They have vanilla and chocolate on every day, and then each day they rotate a special flavor once per month. So make sure you look at their flavor calendar and plan accordingly. They make their own waffle bowls and cones, which are my absolute favorite. They also have Poffertjes, which are small Dutch pancakes with Custard. They are delicious if you want to try something a little different. Friendly staff, but it can get quite busy sometimes so plan accordingly.

I would give the custard 5 stars. I love custard and we drove a ways to try it. The service was so terrible it was shocking. The man taking orders was so rude and not the least bit friendly. We weren’t there at closing time or anything like that, it was 6:30 on a Sunday evening. He let a big SIGH when we walked in. He made us feel uncomfortable, he scooped it up then handed it us so fast and went right back in the back. I wanted to try a couple of flavors but didn’t dare ask. I’m not sure we’d go back unfortunately. We spent $45. The custard is delicious tho.

Eric and the team are so welcoming and friendly! The custard is so smooth and creamy and we love everything on the menu from a waffle cone to the poffertjes. They always have chocolate and vanilla and they have a daily flavor that changes so it’s fun to try new things every time. We moved across the country and still make it a point to stop here every time we’re in town!

Incredibly delicious custard. I believe every day or week there is a new flavor to try. There is an abundance of toppings to add to your bowl or cone. The people working the day we went were awesome. If you are in the area definitely swing by and try this spot out. I doubt you would regret it.

This is an excellent custard bar. It is natural and rich tasting without being overly sweet. I have been eating custard here for nearly seven years. I have never found a place like this even in my home city of New York. If you try it you will return.

I stopped in for a sweet treat. It is a cute little cozy spot, the same plaza is Secreto. The custard was good, of course, but only comes in two flavors, vanilla and chocolate, it seemed. Maybe that was just for that day, but it was a Saturday, so I would expect a little more variety. Then again? Maybe I am spoiled from the plentiful choices of custard in New York. My search for a really good custard will continue.

Southern Custard is a good custard spot, but nothing particularly special. The baseline options of custard are limited, but there are a number of ways of customizing your pick, from making sundae to adding a few toppings. It can get busy, but the staff members are nice. There's some outside and inside seating. The inside is small and a little cramped but at least an option in colder weather.

This place is tucked in a ritzy shopping center and apartment complex with gratuitously sparse parking; several spots were designated specifically for short-term frozen custard parking. They offer vanilla and chocolate and one rotating flavor, which when I dropped in was a splendid salted caramel that delivered just the right hint of salt. They had the options for toppings and sundaes, but it was a bit strange that they didn't have a banana split or a greater flavor variety. Not much for those avoiding dairy or egg either. But it was tasty and a good price.

This place is incredible. Love that they do a different flavor everyday but honestly I always order Chocolate every time haha. The flavors are extensive though and if you catch them on the right day you can get some very interesting stuff as the dessert chef is quite experimental. I've seen some fantastic creations. You can check their online calendar for what is in the works. As for the custard itself, it's divine. Definitely come here if you have a hankering for a decadent, frozen treat.

Hand down the best custard in town. They alway have chocolate and vanilla and a flavor of the day. You can check flavors of the day on their website. Service is ok. The young staffs is always messed up when check out my order. They can't tell if the order is small or medium and just charged. During St Patrick day, my husband and I stopped by for some treat. They were having lucky charms flavor and lucky charms topping. First, she picked up the cone with no napkins While scooping my custard, the lady just dipped her hand in the lucky charm topping bucket and popped them in her mouth. Most of the time, my experience was good, except that one day.

I loved stumbling on to this little place during my random drive around the area when visiting! Custard is hard to find up north and whenever we are in the south, it's one of our favorite things to look for. I LOVED the recommendation that was given to me. Georgia clay seems to sound off putting but it's AMAZING! I believe the flavors are also seasonal! So make sure you check their website to see what special flavors they are creating!

A little too melty for my liking but all in all pretty good frozen custard. I got the marble swirl and it tasted pretty decent. I would not say its the best I have ever had but not bad

Custard is really good, but the Leica was a bit on the higher end! They usually have vanilla and chocolate and then flavor of the day. You can choose extra toppings for extra 75 cents.

Not quite as sweet as I thought it should be. I had a waffle cup and enjoyed it but I'm from the north and close to Wisconsin where custard is an art form. For Atlanta I'd say it was a good choice. Not sorry I went.

This is a great spot! They have vanilla and chocolate custard plus a new flavor everyday. When I went they had butterfinger which was super tasty. Their custard has a great texture to it and next time, I'll try it in a cone. A small was 3.95 plus .75 cents for toppings. It's a great price for the amount you get and the taste.

Perfect for my sweet tooth! Southern Custard is located in Brookhaven in the same shopping plaza as Marlow's Tavern and Burn. They offer vanilla and chocolate custard daily and then one additional flavor that changes daily. When we visited we got the vanilla custard and topped it with walnuts.We also ordered the mini pancakes and a milkshake. We were able to choose our drizzle on the pancakes. They also have a variety of toppings for your custard. I really like that the updated flavor calendar is on their website. I love this for a sweet treat. I would recommend dropping in and giving them a try. The staff is friendly and it is clean. They have seating inside and outside as well.

We live in Athens and we have a Sunday home made ice cream, frozen yogurt/ Custard roadie to find what we think is the best. Southern Custard's flavor of the day this past Sunday was mint chip which is a family favorite. Intense flavor,silky creamy and filled with lovely chocolate chips. It was well worth the three hours driving round trip. Highly recommend you give them a try. Stay well....

Came here for dessert after dinner with friends. Such a great find as frozen custard places are rare here. Definitely enjoyed our sundae. Friends also tried some other items on the menu, which was also very tasty.

This is really tasty custard. I typically prefer custard over ice cream because I like how creamy it is. Southern Custard offers a daily choice of chocolate, vanilla, or special flavor of the day. They offer a large variety of toppings, and whipped cream is complimentary. I typically get the hot fudge sundae. The prices are reasonable, as 2 scoops of custard is only $3.95. There are a limited number of tables inside, but they do have a bunch of outdoor seating. Service is really good too.

I love this place for so many reasons. The owner and staff are always friendly and the frozen custard is out of this world. The rotational flavors are whimsical flavor creations ! If you want to make any day better get an affagato here...if you want to make the week better time the trip when they have the Baileys rotational flavor. It is the best in Atlanta.

Some of the best ice cream in Atlanta. Definitely the best ice cream service. There is 1 guy who's always there assuming he's the owner but damn he's engaging. Every guest he seems to talk to and makes everyone feel like family and welcomed family.

A couple of friends and I were wanting dessert after dinner nearby and we found this spot. It's a cute little place. My friend and I shared the special that day which was a caramel crunch I believe. It had vanilla and dulce de leche custard with heath bar topping. It was good. My other friend got the poffertjes which are mini pancakes (8) with two scoops of vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge and powdered sugar on top. That was absolutely delicious! This place is kinda far from me but if I ever came back here I'd 1000% get that. I recommend that to anyone coming here. The custard over all is nice. I wish they had strawberry that day because I'm sure it would be delicious!

So delicious! I got the Concrete ($5.95), which includes the custard flavor of your choice and one topping mixed in. It's basically a Blizzard from Dairy Queen. It was sooo good. I got vanilla mixed with Oreo. The staff was so sweet. The inside was adorable, complete with string lights and bring walls. I'll definitely be back!

I'm getting hooked on frozen custard, and this is a great place to get it. It helps that it's a very short drive from my home! Parking is no problem, since there is a long parking lot that all the businesses in the strip mall share. Just about all of the employees at Southern Custard are welcoming and friendly. They're always ready with an answer to customers' questions, and will provide you with a sample of fresh frozen custard on a tiny spoon if you show an interest in a flavor. The store is always clean, the counters cleared, and the toppings section very presentable. Employees and customers are required to wear facemasks and signage on the floor indicates where customers should stand in order to social distance from each other. Even if there is a long line, the employees are very efficient and get the customers through very quickly. Inside dining is not allowed, and there are some tables outside where you can enjoy your frozen sweet treat. Southern Custard always has three flavors, and two of them are chocolate and vanilla. The third flavor, the featured flavor, changes daily. Yesterday, the featured flavor was toasted coconut chip. I ordered a sundae with toasted coconut chip frozen custard (three scoops), topped with hot fudge, chopped peanuts, whipped cream and a cherry! The toasted coconut chip frozen custard was deliciously slightly sweet with chips of crunchy chocolate, and a hint of coconut via some slivers of coconut mixed in. The toppings complimented the custard extremely well. There are many other forms that you could have your frozen custard: concretes, malts, malts and floats. You could also have your frozen custard in a cup, cake cone or waffle cone. Great tasting frozen custard and friendly employees made for a fantastic Southern Custard experience!

Went in and got a scoop of chocolate (they do flavors of the day made in house) but took a half pint home of some leftover they sell. This Oreo coffee is quote from my ice cream loving boyfriend "arguably one of the best bites of ice cream ever". So if there flavor of the day doesn't suit you, get some half pints of a flavor you'd want. WoOoOw so good

We walked in and were immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman behind the counter. We indicated we'd never visited before, and he quickly gave us the rundown of everything they offered. (They always have chocolate and vanilla custard, and then there's the flavor of the day.). Today's flavor du jour was Pecan Praline. It took me about 0.25 seconds to decide I wanted a medium sized cup that was half chocolate and half praline pecan. Both were excellent. The pralines were a little cold-crunchy, and buttery sweet just like all good things praline. Totally hit the spot. My wife decided on a hot-fudge sundae made with the praline pecan and the vanilla. She practically inhaled that thing. She'd be mad at me if I told you that she finished it before we left the parking lot. This would be untrue, of course, but I think it's still funny to say so. I'm glad we visited Southern Custard, and I can't wait to go again. I think we saw that they'll soon have "honeycomb" custard on the menu soon as the daily flavor. I always love coming here for their flavors and tonight was key lime pie! Super yummy!!

We've been here a few times and have had a great experience. The shop is small with only a few tables inside and a handful outside to sit it, but the ambiance is modern and there has never been a problem finding a seat as most people take it to-go or eat quickly, so the turnover is fast. You order at the end of the counter right when you walk in and there are two flavors (chocolate and vanilla), and a flavor of the day. I have seen Milk and Honey as the flavor of the day and Cookies and Cream, which is just the vanilla with Oreo in it. The custard is very smooth and tastes excellent! What's not on the menu is a kid's option, which is one scoop (doesn't seem like a lot, but it is) and comes with one topping. Otherwise, if you order the adult sizes, toppings are extra. They have a great selection of toppings available. They also offer concretes, shakes, and malts.

I definitely recommend this hidden gem! I came here for the first time the other day and the owner immediately greeted us and game us a overview for all the products they offer. Unfortunately we came an hour before closing and they were out of the flavor of the day and the chocolate. However I chose to get the poffertjes which are mini pancakes (8) with two scoops of vanilla frozen custard, hot fudge and powdered sugar on top and it was divine!! The quality of their frozen custard is great (however I do think Andy's is a bit better). However the options they have with their new flavors is definitely a plus! They have a new frozen custard flavor every day alongside their standard chocolate and vanilla. I am planning to come back to try their pistachio rose this month!

This is a gem of a place. The frozen custards come pre-packed (check out the calendar for specific daily offerings) or can be scooped up from the case for immediate consumption. The richness of the product is second to none and is most flavorful. The feeling of the frozen custard as it traverses the tongue toward the back of throat is most satisfactory. A great after dinner choice for a yummy and memorable treat.

We visit every time we come Brookhaven. The ice cream flavors are so rich and full of flavor. I love that they rotate a new flavor in everyday. Coffee, cookie dough and red,white and blue were the flavors we had this visit. Delicious!! Great customer service too.

Check out their Facebook page for flavor of the day, in addition to the vanilla and chocolate. It was my lucky day when the special flavor was coconut. I got 2 scoops in a cup, and it was a delicious treat! Very rich and creamy texture, maybe a hair less freezing than ice cream. I loved it, and look forward to coming back.

I've said it before and I'm saying it again Frozen custard is underrated. A month or so ago I discovered that there was a frozen custard spot right in my backyard in Brookhaven at @southerncustard and I finally got to try it a few weeks back. Sadly my standard chocolate frozen custard was unavailable but I did go ahead and get the vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles and it definitely hit. Let's deep dive on why: 1. Consistency: this custard is velvety smooth, thick and rich. It's exactly for these reasons why frozen custard is so awesome 2. Flavor: I'm more of a chocolate guy but this vanilla was subtle but sweet 3. Topping: the last frozen custard place I went to gave me the sprinkles on the side but these guys dip it straight in the sprinkles leading to great coverage and a slight crunch when you bite into the custard Next time you want frozen custard and you're in the brookhaven area, this is your spot!

I work out hard all week, forego other sweets, eat extra salads and pray twice a day just so when my husband gives me "that" look I know I won't feel guilty when we indulge in Southern Custard! This is quite simply the most delicious and decadent sweet treat out there - you can't even debase it by calling it ice cream, it is SO much more! They have two main flavors every day - vanilla and chocolate, and then they rotate a different unique flavor every day (make sure you try these - they are INSANELY tasty). You can also buy pints of the custard to take home, in case you want to wake up in the middle of the night, wander down to your freezer, and get caught shoveling spoonfuls of magic down your throat. Great parking since it is in a plaza - located in the block of shops near Marlow's. They have plenty of outdoor seating so bring your kids, your dog, your neighbor, and your grandma - this is something special you will want to share. The options for how you order your custard are endless - sundaes, malts, concretes, floats, affogatos. You can't go wrong with Southern Custard - go give it a try!

THE CREAMIEST ICECREAM IVE EVER HAD. They only have three flavors but every single one is soooo bomb. The icecream is rich and creamy. It wasn't too sweet. They greet you right when you walk in and they explain to you everything you need to know. They give you samples so you can choose which you like best. They change their third flavor everyday but they have vanilla and chocolate as a staple. I highly recommend them and they even have pints for sale with different flavors!

Great place. Had a chocolate custard Affogato. Absolutely amazing. Love Love! The decor is cute. Would love to visit when the front is open.

This place has become my family's go to spot for something sweet! We love trying out the different flavors and taking home some to-go containers. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.

I LOVE Southern Custard! They have become my go-to place whenever we 'need' a sweet treat. They serve premium custard with a variety of toppings along with espresso and other coffee drinks. What's unique is they always serve vanilla and chocolate plus a flavor of the day. I enjoy checking the calendar on their website to see what flavor they are serving, or which ones they served the previous few days to see if I should stop in and grab a pint or two. There are 4 to 5 tables outside if you'd like to enjoy your treat while you are there. I also stop by and pick up a pint on the way to friend's houses when asked to bring a dessert!

Poffertjes!!!! Omg. Need I say more. It's the simplicity of the menu items that sets this place apart. This place is owned by a couple. God Bless small businesses and the passion that goes into running them. Service - 4/5 Food - 4/5 Ambience - 4/5

So when it comes to custard in Georgia there is only one place I recommend. Sadly this isn't it. It's a very limited selection of custard that being chocolate or vanilla. Now Im sure that it is fresh because they pretty much make batches as they go. However is it the creamiest and savory custard. Not really. Are the topping options out this world. No. Pretty generic actually. All in all in a pinch I'm sure this place will do. For me. It's ehh. Nothing amazing. Not even an attempt to reinvent the wheel here. But hey some people may like that simplicity.

So glad to have stumbled across this place when I was craving for something sweet after dinner. Since I am lactose, I ordered the strawberry sorbet topped with peanuts for some crunch and texture. The sorbet might be overly sweet for me but the saltiness of the peanuts balanced out the flavors. The two guys working were very nice and friendly!

Perfect sweet treat to end your day! Smooth, soft, velvety frozen custard. We ordered a vanilla, and a chocolate. They have a third flavor which they change as their daily special, and it was a caramel and coffee flavored one, which was also very good. But we just preferred the original vanilla and chocolate. And also got those mini pancakes, so freaking good! Can't wait to go back to this place when I'm back in town.

I LOVED the Oreo custard I got from here! I was already a fan of frozen custard, but other custard places I've been to just sprinkled toppings on the top. I think blending the toppings into the custard makes it so much better! The location looked new and clean, and the service was awesome. For safety, they only allow people to eat at the outdoor tables, which I appreciated. Will definitely be back for more blended frozen custard!
