I really enjoyed this place last week. There are many options to satisfy your sweet tooth. The owner and perhaps her daughter was there working when I stopped by. Both were very kind and attentative. I tasted the cakes, cookies, and a brownie. Everything was fantastic! The cake was moist and flavorful. You knew it was homemade, almost like a heirloom recipe passed down. The packing is both meticulous and thoughtful to protect your goods on the car ride home. This is my new bakery. Please support this small, minority, local owned business, you will not be disappointed 😀!

My family and I searched for a bakery nearby after having lunch and we were so fortunate to come across Southern Dessert Plate! We arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday and unfortunately missed out on all of the cake slices that we wanted to try. However, we picked up almost all of the cookie flavors and I also selected the pavlova for myself... and have to say it was the best pavlova I've ever had... divine and gluten free! We also picked up the last of the Espresso cookies, so so good! The chocolate chip and snickerdoodle were kid approved and my husband devoured the peanut butter cookies. Looking forward to trying their cake next. Highly recommend!

I have always loved the delicious treats and amazing ladies who run this bakery and I couldn’t wait for them to make my wedding cake! It was a great experience from start to finish. We loved the generous helpings in our take-home sample box and were always able to ask questions and make payments with ease. The cake looked stunning on our big day and everyone thought it was delicious. Thank you, Southern Dessert Plate!

This bakery never disappoints me! By far the best desserts in Jax! Go try them out….the ladies are so friendly, nice, welcoming! My daughter was dying for us to get home to eat the cupcakes….she says best ever. Thank you for the incredible job u all do!

It has a great german chocolate😍 but it is timely based, if you are late they might out of all good desserts. Worth trying. I enjoyed. Also gave few cookies free to take home. Good people & good service. Parking is right outside.

I cannot rave enough about this amazing little gem, of a bakery. The ladies that expertly craft tasty treats to tantalize, are friendly and welcoming. Please try their snickerdoodle cookies, you won't regret the experience!

Been meaning to write a review, as we used Southern Dessert Plate for our wedding cake. Very nice staff, helpful and timely. The cake was beautiful, fairly priced and delicious. Also go back regularly for their cookies!

This place has the best scones...and eclairs...and chocolate chip cookies...cake... I come here about twice a week and everything I’ve tried has been amazing (but the scones and eclairs are my personal favorites). And now they have cold brew coffee!

Dropped in to this small shop the other day to pick up some dessert to go as a gift for a friend. I was greeted by the staff who were courteous and assisted me with selecting some dessert bars out of the display cases which contained cupcakes, pavlovas, brownies and other options. They also had savory scones in a display on the counter. I opted for a pecan pie bar and a Mississippi mud pie bar which had a marshmallow and chocolate topping. The business does not have much seating only one small table, so you will need to get it to go. However, they store the desserts in nice boxes. Prices are reasonable and are great option if you need a sweet treat.

A craving for something sweet hit me as I was driving home after dinner, which is often the case. Southern Dessert Plate was in the neighborhood, and I've heard great things about their baked treats, so I stopped by. When i went to check in with my Yelp App, an offer for a free dessert bar popped up, and gave me even more excitement. The establishment isn't one with a big, expansive floorspace and an endless variety of cakes and pastries, but I've never needed all that. What they lack in size, they make up with flavor. The bars were housed in a case on top of the counter, and while I was looking forward to sampling their lemon bar, sadly it was unavailable that day, so I went with the S'mores bar. The Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse Cake was topped with a yummy Ferrer Rocher candy and came highly recommended by the young lady staff member, so that was an easy 2nd choice. I took my desserts to go, and devoured them both during my evening Christmas movie marathon. The S'more's bar was topped with a heavenly marshmallow fluff and chocolate drizzle. The brownie was sumptuous and held together well with each bite. The cake was so amazing that I actually took a moment between bites to really savor the taste, instead of inhaling it like I would normally do. The mousse wasn't too sweet or overpowering, but rather a light, airy accompaniment to the fudgy layers of cake. It was chocolate hazelnut heaven, and the candy piece on top was, of course, the crowning jewel. As i write this review, Southern Dessert Plate is undergoing renovations and will re-open on January 12th. Please stop in and show some love by supporting this truly remarkable local business. 5 stars well deserved! What a place, I love this already and only been here once! The shoppe is located in a small strip mall as you're rounding the corner on St John's street, and there's not a lot of parking. Find a spot and stop, you will not be sorry! This place is so cute and the ladies are so friendly and helpful. They have quiche and scones on Saturdays! We ordered a Mississippi mud pie bar, pumpkin whoopie pie, cinnamon scone, chocolate chip cookie (large) and a coffee. The cookie you can get a large one or get a flight of the small ones. I know right, a flight of cookies, this is genius! I'm omw home now and I feel like I wish I had a fork. Lol When I checked in on Yelp, guess what? I had a coupon for a free bar so I used it! What's better than a yummy dessert, a free yummy dessert! You've got to stop by this place, go out of your way to stop...you will be deliciously delighted!

I wanted to get an after work treat for my husband and I, and I had this place saved to check out. I happened to be in the area, so I stopped by on a rainy day. It was a little tricky to find parking due to the construction of the roundabout, but I was able to find a space and walk in. It's a small shop that doesn't have a lot of places to sit, so it's mostly a take and go place. I did notice a water dish for dogs in front, so you can bring your dog here. There was a wide selection of options to choose from, but the one that caught my eye and eventually my wallet was the Mississippi mud bars. I ordered two of those with a cold brew. The girl was nice enough to ask how much cream I wanted in it and poured it in front of me to my desired limit. For the two treats and the coffee, it was around $11. There is a $10 minimum if you are using a credit card, otherwise you have to pay cash. When I got home, my husband was so excited that I brought a treat home and we ate the desserts after dinner. There was a bottom layer of fudgy brownie, the middle layer was marshmallow fluff topped with chopped pretzel pieces, and chocolate drizzle on top. I took my time eating it and enjoying each bite. You could tell it was homemade and tasted delicious with each bite. I started following them on Instagram, so maybe I'll go back for another exquisite treat!

Stopped in here after having tons of friends tell me I should stop in. Well I wasn't disappointed. I got one or two of everything they had and everybody gave it rave reviews. The lemon bars were fantastic. They also offer whole cakes and amazing looking gluten-free flourless chocolate tort that I can't wait to get my hands on. The people working in there I assume are the owners and they were so friendly and helpful. I get the feeling that if they can make it for you they will definitely do it. I love to support the small mom and pop shops and this one is right up my alley. I'm going to be stopping here every week to get my staff there little mood enhancer.

OMG. Brown Butter Blondie with Walnuts. It's so delicious! You can taste the buttery goodness in this dense, perfectly sweet and decadent dessert. I stopped by the SDP because I had to satisfy my sweet teeth. Yes. All of them. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and the variety of cakes, cookies, tarts, dessert bars, and specialty pastries really impressed me. Sometimes I just want a treat that is Southern and what you may find at a potluck party. Everything is made in-house by their wonderful lady staff and the gorgeous presentation of their goodies tempted me to go overboard. I got a sampling. This time I tried their Brown Butter Blondie and a White Cupcake with Buttercream Frosting. Holy Yumminess. The bakery is clean, quaint and inviting will a few tables to enjoy their offerings. They already have a nice following as I witnessed several regular customers come in being greeted by first names. At the time of this review, they have only been open for 5 weeks at this location. And they make custom cakes and all types of desserts by request for special occasions with very reasonable prices. There's coffee available, too. I haven't tried it yet, but I saw them make a Iced Vanilla Latte that looked so refreshing. The customer service is great! And I look forward to trying more of the desserts in the near future! Perhaps a loyalty card? They were making mini-cakes for sale at the fraction of the cost of their full size options that serve around 4-6 people. Of course, they can make whatever dessert you want them to make if it's not already in their case. Just call ahead. This is a terrific place to enjoy some wonderful Southern sweets just like I would make at home, but I don't because I am not the best baker. No worries. This place is not too far from home. Yay, ME! Looking forward to visiting again and trying their Lemon Bars. Yummers. Next time...

In searching for a bakery for desserts for our daughter's night-before-the-wedding welcome celebration/BBQ in Jacksonville, we saw The Southern Dessert Plate has won JAX Best Sweet Shop 3 years running. Called and found them extremely excited to be part of the event and extremely easy to work with! The Southern Dessert Plate team provided super-helpful guidance on the number and type of desserts that might work best for our event and then put together a fantastic assortment of pavlova, bars, cheesecake, cookies, and cake shooters. The desserts were absolutely beautiful and wrapped individually and so carefully - made it super easy to arrange quickly for the event. The desserts were the hit of the event! So many guests commented on how much they loved the specific dessert they chose (great comments on them all - with pavlova and cake shooters going fastest). I snapped the attached photo - unfortunately, after so many had already been taken. Our goal for the event was for people to really enjoy themselves and really enjoy the food and drinks of locally-owned businesses. Mission accomplished.....with the help of Southern Dessert Plate! This team is passionate about creating delicious and special desserts, and they are just a joy to work with. Thank you, Southern Dessert Plate, for making our daughter's wedding so special!

I was searching for a local bakery that could execute my vision for desserts for my son's upcoming rehearsal dinner and we found this spot. I met my future daughter in law here earlier this week and we both agreed they would work. First, the three lady owners are so nice. I like to do business with people I genuinely like. They are very likable! We were limited to what we could sample, as they don't have a lot of product sitting out. I understand that and probably should have setup a tasting in advance. That being said, we were able to try a cannoli, a brownie, a lemon bar and a piece of carrot cake. The carrot cake (that I failed to photograph) was delicious! One of the best I have ever had. The other desserts were good, but the brownie was our least favorite. The lemon bars are gluten free so that is nice. We have high hopes for all the desserts for our upcoming rehearsal dinner. I love the pavlova and the mud bars. They have such a great selection of tasty sweets. They will not disappoint. Staff are very friendly and personable. It's about time for me to head back that way for my sweet fix.

This has got to be the go to place for special design cakes and on top of that they make "Real Cannoli " OMG, they are the best yet I have had in Jax. A fraternal organization I needed a small special sheet cake at the last minute and they just shock all the attendees. Great job

Made a quick stop to pick up some cupcakes. They only had 3 flavors left so I ordered 4 mixed. The shop has other desserts offered like brownies, cookies and cannolis and they specialize in custom orders. They offer seasonal goods so stop by often to see what's new. They were very accommodating in what I needed.

I recently purchased several items from SDP for my dad's Celebration of Life. Initially I reached out to a few companies and they were the only one to respond promptly. The rest of the process was equally seamless; I communicated with them by email and phone, depending on what was easiest for me at the moment, and they were helpful and responsive. And most importantly, the desserts were a hit! I loved that they had a variety of items in smaller sizes that made it accessible for our budget. Thank you, SDP team!

Best desserts in Jacksonville. Delicious baked goods and unique favorites all served by the nicest folks. You won't regret treating yourself! The Chocolate Bourbon Cake (with whipped cream caramel frosting) and the Oatmeal Scotchie cookies are my faves!

To keep it simple - best bakery EVER. Kate, Dawn and Janet are truly talented. They made the most delicious wedding cake for me AND I even had another cake for the Rehearsal lunch! I would highly recommend them! The cake testing was a lot of fun; they are all very nice and professional. Even if you don't need a whole cake, I recommend stopping by and having one of their delicious baked goods! And get there sooner than later because they sell out early!

I consider myself a dessert critique connoisseur and I have to say that the their apricot crostata rivals that of the ones I have tasted in Italy or France for that matter. You can really taste the high fat content butter and the artisanal deserts that place makes. It truly makes a difference when the pastry chiefs make it with passion. I highly recommend this place and will be back for more!

This place is great for your sweet tooth cravings. We came in for a cake and left with other items. I personally got a cannoli for later and was delicous. Highly reccommend this place

this place is absolutely amazing! the desserts are delicious, the staff is wonderful and the prices are crazily amazing, i had to buy one of everything. they have where you can get 3 small cookies for 4$, it's called a cookie flight. I had gotten that, a lemon bar, a cannoli, an eclair, and a slice of hummingbird cake. I love that you can by slices of cakes instead of whole ones to try that! my total for all of it came out to about 17$. if you spend 25$, you get a free t-shirt tho. I also was told that on wednesdays they make petit everything, petit cake bites, petit cannolis, etc. so i will deff be back to try more! everything was wonderful.

I was blown away. I'm a huge cheesecake guy and I hunt for the best cheesecake I can find. I've had some very good options but I can honestly say this place makes my favorite. The staff was very friendly too. My wife had a piece of their lemon bar and she fell in love. My new favorite place for dessert!

I love bakeries, so I've been to about every bakery in Jacksonville. This one is top-notch. The place is not that large, but when I've visited, they have a varied assortment of cakes, cookies, bars, and tarts, and on Saturdays, they have scones and danishes. Everything I've tried has been delicious, well-made, and fresh. Highly recommend.

Dipped cookies were very tasty. Tried a variety & liked them all. They were a little crispier than we like, as we prefer a more chewy cookie. The shop was cute & there were plenty of other delicious looking desserts in the cases. Staff was super friendly, helpful & welcoming. I would come back.

SDP is my new favorite bakery! The lemon bars and chocolate bourbon cake were amazing, and the seating area is perfect for a quick coffee get together.

When I go into this Bakery I plan to get 1 item. When I walk out I have a large box of items. The staff is very friendly and clean. Kitchen is clean and sanitary and the food tastes better than it looks. If you go in and don't want everything in the case I will be surprised. Try it!

Real deal awesomeness! The carrot cake is just like mom used to make. Cookies = delish!! Chocolate dipped in a mocha dark chocolate. And the cheese cake is pretty good too. Staff is friendly and helpful, will definitely shop there in the future.

It's my first time there today and believe their last customer of the day. I was super worried about making it on time as I tried to go a few times before but they sold out and were closed. That says a lot about their desserts!!!! With that being said, there was limited choices as I got there late (shame on me) but I loaded up on whatever was left. They even gave me one of their new honey bars (seasonal) to sample and it was AMAZING! The owners were super nice and friendly and so excited that they are right down the road from me. I think it's time for me to by stock in Southern Dessert Plate as I am sure I will be spending a lot of time and money there, haha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been to every pastry shop in town and I've finally found the perfect brownie! Excellent job ladies I will be back.

I LOVE this bakery! We stopped in while visiting family in Florida and had a hard time deciding what to get because everything looked so good. We decided to get a few things and share them. The brown butter blondies were delicious, but so were the pavlovas, and the lemon bars...we liked everything! We decided to go back a few days later and enjoyed sitting in the shop while having some coffee with chocolate decadence cake and praline pound cake while my kids devoured some of the cookies and buckeye bars. I guess I should be glad I don't live closer because if I did I would probably be there way too much!!

Absolutely the BEST I could have ever asked for. They made my wedding cake for my wedding (90+ people) and it was perfect. My vision was listened to and recreated to a tee. Plus, EVERY single guest had multiple pieces of cake it was so delicious. HIGHLY recommend them! I will be going back! Can't wait for my anniversary to taste the cake again!
