Southern Maid Donuts

Always such a wonderful treat going to Southern Maid! I havent had their donuts in over six years and I missed their fluffy sweetness so much! I went to visit my cousins and they were planning on going so we tagged along. We got a half dozen of the glazed along with two twisted glazed--I swear the twisted ones taste different than the round ones, I swear! They were pipping hot so my mom and I split a twist and wow, so creamy and good. Their donuts are not too sweet, but just sweet enough to make you want to grab just one more. I can't wait to have another one either tonight or in the morning!! Southern Maid is a must whenever in the area!!

Most inconsistent Southern Maid in town smh. They're never open until 11 on weekends. Donuts are overcooked with minimal icing. When you're expecting hot and FRESH donuts they tend to give you donuts that were already cooked while waiting 20 minutes in drive-thru smh. I really wish the Hearne location stayed open later and hopefully the best location on North Market reopens very soon!!!!

Went in the morning before 8am. Line was long, but that's expected. Ordered half a dozen and got cold half glazed donuts. Tasted like they had been made earlier that morning. They're supposed to be hot before 10am. This isn't the first time. I shouldn't have to ask every time if they're hot. Waste of time and money.

Figured customers would like to see an actual menu. Prices went way up for a dozen donuts so would recommend buying real food from somewhere else for that price

Baby if you want the best donuts in town then go here on Sunday afternoon around 4pm..the line might be long but it will move fast and the wait is totally worth it. Their donuts are fluffy and have the perfect amount of glaze on top. My son and I ate half a dozen before we could make it out of Shreveport! The service is perfect, very nice employees. We love Southern Maid!

Why would you state you have many types of donuts to choose from and then offer glazed and chocolate only? I was wanting a maple donut drove to the drive thru and all they had was glazed and chocolate...that my friends pissed me off! I suggest if you want something specific call and ask before you waste your time.

I am highly disappointed in the quality of service and product I received today at the Southern maid donuts on Mansfield Road in Shreveport Louisiana! I asked for glazed donuts and two chocolate donuts, I went at 7:00 something p.m. because they're fresh and hot after 4:00 p.m. and the one that I usually go to that never lets me down on hearne avenue was closed today! The donuts I received were not even warm and I literally live right down the street! This is the third time I visited this location and have received horrible donuts! I feel like the packaging of the product is horrible as well! I don't eat the chocolate donut so therefore I do not want chocolate smeared all over my box or my glazed donuts or I would have asked for chocolate so they should have put those in a separate container bag or wrap them in separate paper! Give the type of service that you would want to receive or your family and friends! And whenever you try to call their phone never works. I see I'm not the only one who's had these issues and something really needs to be done about it! Especially the dry customer service! They barely speak if they speak! And they have the worst drive-thru setup ever! I'm going to start driving across town to go to hearne avenue or North market in order to get good fresh hot quality donuts from Southern Maid and that's a shame I have to do that when the one off of Mansfield Road is less than 10 minutes away from me! I have always loved Southern Maid donuts since I was a child my grandfather used to always take me and he was born in 1914 so they're a household brand in my family! They still have the best donuts if you ask me in Louisiana! But if this service and quality continues to go down I don't have a problem with Krispy Kreme and I will drive to Texas to purchase them with no problem!

The doughnuts were fresh and hot ...they were a different doughnut than im use to its not as lite as a Kryspy Kreme but it was a great doughnut....it warms up well the next day ...nice job Southern maid

This is the donut place to come and get hot donuts when you are in the Shreveport/Bossier area. This location is on Mansfield Rd (Southern Hills) and is drive thru only (not sure why though) but still doesn't change my opinion of their donuts, man every time I am Shreveport, I have to stop and get some. They stay open until at least 9 or 10pm, and serve hot glazed donuts from 4 pm to close. Be prepared to wait some nights for the drive thru line can have anywhere from 2 - 7 cars waiting on hot donuts. MMM, got go eat mine now before they get cold. And btw, they are actually still pretty good the next morning, cut them in half, throw some butter on the non fried side and put them face down in a skillet for a couple of minutes, yummy!

This spot never disappoints! Donuts are always fresh and hot when I pull up to the window. Every time I travel to Shreveport this is a must stop for me. I've yet to be unsatisfied by the service or the food. There's nothing like holding that warm box in your hands, opening the lid, and removing a warm glazed donut. An added bonus is when the icing has melted in the box and you swipe a little on your finger to taste! Southern Maid Donuts are the truth!

Donuts are outstanding. I ordered six glaze donuts and one eclair. The donuts were hot and savory! Just enough icing. They were really soft. Placed in a box perfectly. Service was really fast. We went through the drive through and staff was friendly. Ambiance was great. I didn't go in as I went through the drive through. Will be back to get more! :)

Shreveport, Louisiana I've been here perhaps 100 times over the past 20? Years. BUT never again until you can actually walk in the store. For some reason they've switched to Drive thru only. The Doughnuts are great, the experience is horrible.

Five months later and the place has gotten even trashier. The parking lot looks like a construction zone and has for years. There's empty alcohol bottles and random garbage all over the place. Now there's not even a menu outside so you better know what you want ahead of time. And the inside is STILL CLOSED! Are you joking?!? With just the person running the window and the cook it's no wonder they have "Now Hiring" signs placed all out front. Can you imagine how boring a day that would be with the inside closed and just the two of you in there all day long?

I grew up in Shreveport and whenever I go back home it's a must that I stop by Southern Maid for some fresh hot donuts. The service is fast and efficient as there is always a line. The donuts are great just not as hot as I had hoped.

Southern Maid donuts are fantastic. However, this location is drive-through only. 10 cars in line when I arrived and it took 20 minutes to get through the line. It's just not worth it. When I finally received my order, the kolaches were actually slightly chilled. If you want donuts, go to a different location. Southern Maid owners, listen to your consumers. This is not working.

Doughnuts are outstanding! The best around Shreveport by far!! I love coming here and it's worth the wait!!

Always a long line because the owner won't spend a little money to invest in a speaker so you can order before you get to the window . So you have to pull up and then order and then wait . One car at a time!! The doughnuts are good and the employees are nice . I've asked several of them why the owner won't install a speaker system and they've all said it would be a fantastic idea so they could stay ahead of the orders . A few have even said they wish they'd just sell by the dozen only after a certain time at night so the line would move faster . There's not even a menu to see what's offered or the prices before getting to the window because it's fallen apart . And it's drive thru only !!! Why not open the lobby like the other southern maids in town. Whoever is over the southern maid name needs to get this location in shape . The location could make twice as much money if they had new owners . A lot of people pass by because they don't want to sit in a line 15 cars long that barely moves . 4 cars ahead of me today left the line because of how slow it is . Take notes from southern classic a few doors over. Their line is always moving . Spend some money and upgrade your location to better serve your employees and your customers . I can't give a partial star on here or I would .

Donuts are not hot at all when they say hot and you have to go on certain days even the window girl will tell you because you can tell the cooks are not great at all.

I grew up in Southern Hills in south Shreveport, within 6 minutes of THE ABSOLUTE BEST donuts on the planet! I'll be 50 next month and have been experiencing the deliciousness of Southern Maid as far back as I can remember, (about 3-4 years old)! I was reading some of the reviews and wow... does it truly matter how the place looks on the outside? If you know you are about to have the softest , most light weight, melt in your mouth donut, then that shouldn't matter much!! Yes, I agree that the menu board & microphone need replacing... can't blame them for not wanting to open up the inside... with all the horrible things happening in the world and all the contagious negativity... I wouldn't open it back either! They will always have business, a few poor reviews will not do any damage to their business!! As long as they are serving hot donuts, I'll wait in line for 30 minutes if needed!!!

If you have you have the opportunity to order a donut to be made, you should. A fresh, glazed donut smells amazing and tastes about as good.

So, it was a pleasant Saturday evening and I decided to drive south Shreveport to purchase a dozen glazed donuts. It was probably 8pm (no where near closing time); so, I was like 'cool' donuts HOT after 4'o clock, Great! I decided to go through the drive-thru (due to no cars in line, and I didn't want to walk inside, either). There was a sign on the menu written with a black sharpie marker which stated, "please pull forward". I did..like so! The sign was courteous, but not so the employee. As I drove to the window, I knew exactly what I wanted to order. I said, "one dozen of glazed donuts, please" but I did say, "hi, how are you this evening, first" (no response, then I placed my order as such). She immediately told me, "$7.48", okay, I'm sure this is the most requested order. Anyways, she gave me a half-donkey smile, then took my card. Pushed the window back open with force and rolled her eyes at me. I was thinking, "heck, I know I have the money.. did my card not go through..?" Then, she handed me my receipt to sign and slammed my card on the counter (I'm looking dumbfounded like.. OooooK). Upon receiving my John Hancock, she snapped the receipt, shoved my card in my hand (upon retrieval), gave me the donuts with the box not closed, and napkins slightly on top.. the napkins fell on the ground while I was trying to secure the donut box myself. The employee rolled her eyes, gave me a half smile and walked away! I don't know her nor does she know me besides this interaction.. I said all of that to say this.. CUSTOMER SERVICE brings customers!! Please be a little more pleasant and keep your problems elsewhere! Thankfully, the donuts were GREAT! That's why I gave this review two stars.

I was looking for traditional Lousianna beignets. I was told that this place is the go-to in Shreveport. No beignets BUT cream cheese filled donuts! These were good. Their dough is not too thick and heavy. Small assortment of doughnuts. Chocolate glazed, sugar glazed, sprinkles, some twists and bear claws. Sweet little shop with seating where the local elders enjoy a snack and catch up with each other.

My hubby wanted to stop here as we headed back to Dallas. I wasn't interested at first but I'm so glad he did! These donuts are AMAZING!! They have a flavor i haven't ever tasted before! I highly recommend them!

From Arkansas, now residing in Northern California since 70's. I grew up in the south and many of my family/friends still live in these parts and areas. No one does the round thing with the hole in it like the people here! You don't have to take my word for it, be here at five a.m. and you will see what I'm talking about! Those others shops cannot compete!

Best hot donuts I've ever had! Seriously, where else can you get hot donuts like this at 9:00 PM? Fast service, great food, and their donut King Cake at Easter is SO good!

My friend brought me to her hometown and said we have to go to Southern maid..on the outside and inside just looks like an average donut shop..but holy smokes, donuts made fresh while you wait?! Say what?! I'm sold! They were so yummy! Way better than a Krispy Kreme with their light on.. This place is a must stop when a donut craving hits.

I love Southern Maid Donuts! I would just like to say that I wish that on your web site that you would list all the products with the prices. That way I would know how much money I would need for my order in advance. Thank you so much for making the best donuts I have ever had. You beat Dunkin Donuts by a land slide for my part. The donuts are really good, kolaches....not so much. Ive gotten like hard or old kolaches from there a few different times. The ladies are super friendly, though and everything else is great!

One word: Amazing!! There's really no donuts like these donuts. I am in love with their glazed donuts, and you will be, too :D

On vacation visiting my boyfriend's family and he took me here. I was wondering why a donut shop had a line at 6pm I quickly learned why. These have got to be the absolute best donuts I've ever had. They were cooked fresh and glazed while I was standing there. Let's just say no weight watchers freestyle points were counted that day! The customer service was a little shabby but the donuts made up for it.

I was looking for a donut shop close by and came across this one. The staff was very friendly and it was very clean inside. I went in around 08:30 and there was not much of a selection but that might of been due to the fact that I did not go in early enough. I also wish they had a better selection of coffee. Their prices are fair and they had good donuts.

Best donuts, hands down. They make them fresh from 4pm to close so for those that say they're cold in the morning, it's literally painted on the side of the building, 4-closing. But they're SO worth it and I buy them cold, pop em in the microwave and omg. Still melt in your mouth even reheated.

Every time I come here before work they are out of chocolate and glazed!! This is a donut shop? They could care less. There are plenty of other options in town. Do not go here. It takes 20 min consistently to get donuts. They will even tell you when you get there. Ridiculous! The reason they have empty boxes behind the counter is because they never have donuts ready to put them in. This place ought to be ashamed.

Showed up at 8 o'clock in the morning to buy cold donuts. The service was lacking. Pulled up to the menu and figured out what we wanted within about a minute. We pulled up to the window and come to find out there was a speaker you order into! It's not attached to the menu in any way it's about 8 feet in the air on the side of the building. We sat by the window about 5 minutes before anyone even said anything to us. If I wanted cold donuts I would've gotten some from the dollar store. One star.

The donuts are awesome after 4 when they are hot. The only problem is you can't ever get chocolate donuts anymore. I don't understand that. Also if you go sometimes during the day they are out of donuts. This is a donut shop how on earth can that happen. Need someone that can make donuts all day so they will have them. Used to get 1 doz glazed and 1/2 doz choc at night never have chocolate anymore.

OK, I grew up in Shreveport so Southern Maid has been a family staple all my life since the original location at Hearne and Greenwood over 50 yrs ago and later the opening of the Mansfield Rd location. The quality of the donut is still great. The service has gone downhill the past few years. Everyone always wants hot donuts at night and they used to crank them out a few years back and kept lines moving. There were just as many customers and they weren't backed up in the street. And they were cooking glazed AND chocolate. No chocolate in the evenings anymore, hot or cold. I was told they were getting complaints because the chocolate came off the hot donuts. Yes, the chocolate, and the glazed, will come off of hot donuts if you turn them on their sides and cram them into a tiny box. They used to put the hot donuts flat, in a larger box, so the toppings wouldn't come off. They used the smaller boxes for cold donuts during the day. I remember when there were only 2 people working at night, one cooking, and one working the counter and the drive thru and cranking out hot glazed and chocolate all night up to about half hour before closing, then you took what you could get. It's a shame because there was nothing better than getting hot chocolate donuts at night. I really wish you'd consider bringing that option back at night and start packaging the hot donuts in the larger boxes so we don't have a mess in the box by the time we get home and get our chocolate back at night.

Went to get fresh made donuts, sat at the window waiting which is nothing unusual. After 12 minutes the lady walked out of the back room with 2 boxes of donuts. She started closing the top when a dozen came through the kitchen window, she closed that box and handed to a customer at the counter inside. She then finished closing the top on the box that is mine. When she hands it to me and I can tell that these weren't freshly cooked . The box was barely warm as were the donuts inside. These were apparently sales reheated and given to me. I will never buy another donut at that store.

wow, picked up 2 dozen donuts in the drive thru to take to work. 7:20 AM, and they give me COLD glazed donuts.......really? Then they told me they didn't have a hot glazed donuts, at 7:20 AM in the morning.... This place has really lost its edge.

I used to like this Southern Maid but ever since it changed hands it has gone downhill! Southern Maid Donuts are the BEST but...this location needs improvement. Tonight we went by to get donuts because we have been wanting some. When we get there we tell them we want a dozen chocolate and 1/2 dozen glazed. The Girl at the window (as she is eating Teddy Grahams) tells us that they don't have chocolate today because they only have one cook. Ok, so we say we'll get a dozen glazed...she then says, "we only have six left until 30 minutes." What!?

This morning my visit to Southern maid on Mansfield Rd... Was my last .. I ordered a dozen .. Warmed "PLEASE" I was told NO because I was a drive thru !!!.. Then upon closing the box the lady at the window looked in the box realized the count was off and touched the donuts with her nasty long finger nails !!!!!.. YUCK !!!!.. They were black fingernails at that !!!!.. I will NOT recommend this place again to anyone !!!!!...
