1st time. Ordered on Uber Eats. Packaged well. Was very good!Greens were seasoned. Chicken seemed smoked very well cooked. Everything was flavorful. I’ll be back for the ribs and rib tips.

I almost hate to write this post. Because then everybody will go the food here was absolutely outstanding.. I purchased a smoke house platter today. It comes loaded with barbecued ribs, barbecue rib tips, and pork chop. The brisket was absolutely top notch super tender and flavored amazingly. Each meal comes with two sides, and there's a variety of options. Macaroni and cheese collard greens. Black Eyed Peas and rice, sweet potatoes, cabbage, green beans. If you are in the area you must stop and try..

The food is really tasty good soul food. I haven't had a dish from there that I haven't like yet. And I've had the ocean perch, the salmon and the corn beef and cabbage all really good and of course the staple side dishes mac and cheese and yams, potato salad and dressing delicious also. The dessert doesn't disappoint either I've had cakes and banana pudding, peach cobbler and sweet potato pie all good. The only dish that my hubby had which he did not like was the meatloaf and it may be because of the type of gravy but that's the only one. He's a meat connoisseur so he's had the pork chops, meatloaf and turkey wings. My boys had the fried chicken wings which they Loved and the mac and cheese and the yams wish they also loved. They are available on UberEats and I also had takeout.

Smothered pork chops were dry and hard, I didn’t know that was possible. Cabbage had no flavor or seasoning. The Mac and Cheese was ALL Mac and NO cheese. The mash and gravy was giving instant potatoes with can gravy unfortunately that was the only good thing in the meal. Not worth the price. I added salt/pepper/old bay and it didn’t help. Great for diabetics or a low sodium diet. Although, my husband said he wouldn’t even feed it to the dogs, smh.

I was not steered wrong when looking for tasty homestyle soul food and BBQ i went twice in as many days. Well run friendly and organized. Pro Tip: Get there early even if you called your order in, especially on week ends. But even if crowded they will get you in and out in a reasonable amount of time.

I ordered turkey tip with yams and mac ( only thing that tasted good,the bbq sauce all over my yams took the taste away. Corn muffin nasty greens no seasoning I’m so upset. Peach cobbler was runny the staff mad at the world. If I can give them 0 I would this place is horrible. The manager did tell me to bring the yams back but If my food wasn’t right the first time I doubt it will be better tomorrow. This restaurants lazy they don’t care about quality food or good service.

They have great customer service. The food is delicious and filling. The prices are decent. I ordered three different meals and everything was delicious. I didn't have to wait long. I wish I knew about this place sooner. I will be returning numerous times. Lol

The food is pretty good. You’re able to order through an automated system over the phone. I thought that was interesting and to make it even better, my order was right when I arrived. Check out their yams 😋

I thought that I'd give Southern Smokehouse a try,seeing that I was working in the area. They did NOT disappoint me! I wound up ordering up a fried catfish dinner, with collard greens, yams and a side of mashed potatoes with chicken gravy. Initially I was told that my meal would be ready in 20-25 minutes. Imagine my surprise when I received a text only 10 minutes later advising me that my order was ready. I was impressed that they had a dedicated line for called in orders which had a minimal wait. After picking up my meal, I was somewhat disappointed to see that there wasn't any tartar sauce or hot sauce in the bag. But when I tasted the catfish, I realized that truly amazing catfish doesn't need tartar sauce or hot sauce! The catfish consisted of two very large fillets, fried to a golden perfection. The collard greens were a generous portion, chopped and cooked perfectly. The yams were divine, lightly seasoned with brown sugar and cinnamon. I actually only added the mashed potatoes on my order because I believe you can tell a lot about a restaurant by tasting their mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were perhaps the best real mashed potatoes that I've ever had from a restaurant. I have to admit after seeing a couple negative reviews, I actually thought of going to the competition a couple blocks away, but I'm glad that I didn't! One review caught my eye which caught my attention after talking highly of the banana pudding. So I also purchased a banana pudding to try. OMGoodness was the pudding delicious! While typically not a fan of pudding with soggy vanilla wafers in it, I found that I couldn't imagine eating it without Nilla Wafers in it now! This meal was the highlight of my day! Now I just have to figure out a way to sweet talk my family into coming back here and soon! I actually split the meal and all the fixings with a co-worker. He was equally impressed by the quality and taste of the food. Having never tried Collard greens before, he was pleasantly surprised at how much he liked them. All told, the meal ran roughly $25 for the two of us, which is a little on the pricey side, but I'm willing to pay a bit more for quality like this! If you're looking for down home, barbecue or good old fashioned soul food, give Southern Smokehouse a try! I doubt that you will be disappointed!

It wasn't nasty, but wasn't amazing. Food was enjoyable enough for a soul food craving.

I absolutely love their food. Especially their sides. It taste very homemade as oppose to other soul food restaurants' sides seems like a rushed bulk order. And their lunch specials are amazing!!!!

Horribly rude. Ratchet rude in fact. Food was below basic. It's a smokehouse without a damn bit of smoke. It was cafeteria leftovers.

I ordered smothered turkey chops& it was a lil pink & one was only bones & no meat! Mac has the best seasoning but not enough cheese & mustard & turnips was fire!

Let me start by saying it was my first time here and I came in after work and order two plates, one for me and one for my man. I'm a 20 minutes drive home and I was lucky enough to be a passenger, by the time I made it home my man had crumbs. I ate BOTH plates because it was so damn good and I was so greedy. I couldn't decide what I wanted to bite last so I had to just keep taking bites. Plate 1: oxtails, Mac and cheese, fried okra, muffin Best oxtails I've ever eaten. Hands down. I've lives in the south, Houston Tx and Memphis TN and never had better. Mac and cheese had lots of flavor, juicy, okra was cooked well (would have liked either a dipping sauce or a little more flavor in the breading but the true flavor shined) muffin I prefer a sweeter corn break but still good Plate 2: brisket, black eyed peas and rice, yams Brisket was nice and Smokey, tender, bbq sauce tasted amazing, peas and rice were delicious, yams were some of the best I've had. I asked the woman at the register what sounded better banana puddin or peach cobbler and she said she makes alllll the dessert so she knows it's all good and I got both and let me tell you they did not disappoint. It would have to be a "gun to my head" situation for me to have to choose the banana puddin over the cobbler. When I go back ima try the cat fish and some different side and a new dessert. Everyone in there was friendly, moved at a hood pace and it was clean. I only got a picture of one plate after I already ate some because I couldn't put my spoon down.

Found a piece of metal in my greens. Very unpleasant could have choked smh please be me careful.

Not just for Sunday supper, great anytime of the week. Half price Monday - Friday @ lunchtime (stops at 1p).

This is my favorite soulful restaurant and all the way up in till last month they started using canned sweet potatoes. When I tell you that is the worst thing ever for me. If I go to a soulful restaurant, I want homemade cooking. everything else is amazing. I love everything they have. I just wish they go back to fresh sweet potatoes please!

Never fails! Great food, great service, great prices everytime! I have ordered the beef ribs, fried chicken, mac and cheese, yams.. I could go on. My mom is always satisfied. Great place if you want good soul food...

I have been a customer for a while now and the last two times I've ordered have been such a disappointment. Last time I ordered baked chicken for my partner and his wings were not fully cooked through Today I gave them another chance and ordered 2 meals along with dessert. I took a bite of it my chicken and immediately noticed the texture and seen that it was not cooked properly. The chicken should not taste rubbery and hard to pull apart. It was not fully cooked through! However the sides were very tasty.

Portion size is good. I had the smothered turkey chops they were great, the Mac and cheese I hoped for more. Overall it's worth the visit and ill likely go again because they have lots to choose from

Wow. The cabbage and the damn Turkey chops smothered in gravy. Please. The collard greens were salty and savory and perfectly cooked. The black eye peas were wonderfully seasoned though a smidge too tough for me. I prefer a creamer cooked pea. Overall I give this place 5 stars. Try it.

Delicious! I had the smothered porkchops they fell off the bone. The collard greens were a little undercooked for me but still tasty. Mac n cheese was also good! I am curious about the tomato cobbler I was hesitant so I didn't order it!!!

Ordered through door dash. Everything tasted great! Will def order again. Reasonable prices and real food, I can taste the love and effort. This review is a week old but I just ordered again and decided to finalize the review. I LOVE that they are on door dash.

Just had an amazing feast of food dropped off by Uber Eats. Ordered 1/2 slab dinner with mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, Mac & Cheese, potato salad, with Peach Cobbler and Tomato Cobbler. Oh my goodness, holy YUM!! The ribs were moist and tender, and full of flavor. The dressing is sage based, potatoes are perfectly flavored and creamy. I was super excited about the Tomato Cobbler, and it was incredibly amazing!! I am really happy with my order, and can not wait to eat here again!

Food and Service is excellent for on line ordering and is carry out. Good was ready on time and hot. We live 15 minutes away and the food did not need re-heating when we got home. Hubby loved the peach cobbler. Rib tips were meaty and love the sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. Mustard and Turnips were slightly salty, cut up some onion and eat with the cornbread and it was good! Mac & Cheese is great. Business is organized and clean! Very professional!

If you want the best fall off the bone ribs and bbq, then you really should go to Southern Smokehouse. They have delicious food and tasty desserts!

Food was excellent. Ordered the fried chicken with mac & cheese and green beans. Had the peach cobbler as well. My friend had the Salmon. Food definitely on point. Customer service NOT so much. Walked in establishment no greeting. Everyone looked miserable as if they hated working there. I would go here again only if I was in the neighborhood. Would have made a trip from Downriver if I received good Customer service.

Back again, cant wait to get some ribs, beans and mac n cheese. I told you guys I will be eating here alot until I relocate next month. I'll add more when I get my food.

I've carried out at the Southern Smokehouse several times, since it's down the street from my home. The food is always tasty. I've not been disappointed and have tried several of their dishes. They have the full soul food fare, and also corned beef & cabbage, which is very good; and barbecue. They also serve a variety of cakes and cobblers. I've not tried any of the cakes, but I have had the peach cobbler. I wouldn't order it again. It's carry out only. There is a small parking lot that can get full quickly. I have seen people park on McNichols. I don't recommend that. (Crazy drivers) The price points are comparable to other soul food restaurants in the area. Perhaps maybe a little cheaper. The counter is manned by a team of young women who are pleasant.

Honestly everything was great and well cooked, I loved the fact it was cooked right and it was enough food. Definitely a go to any day I'm in that area!

Absolutely love southern smokehouse. Clean well kept inside, and amazing customer service. The serving amount is just right to either share or come back for more later. Definitely worth the money .

Every since I heard about this place, it has been my go to place since there aren't many good soul food resturants in the city. I appreciate the good customer service all the way down to the price. I'm a HAPPY CUSTOMER!

Pretty disappointed with my food. This is my first and last time eating here. When I received the food it was already cold, and I did not enjoy the rice it was hard almost like it wasn't fully cooked. Gravy had a weird taste to it .. the greens were ok and the "smothered Turkey chips" were really not smothered.. I really don't understand how you can charge $14 a plate for this..

oh what a gem. I reviewed this restaurant when it first opened and it was bad. Now I wish I could eat here everyday. My favorite meal is the Turkey wing and dressing and Mac and Cheese.

I ordered smothered pork chops, Mac n cheese, yams and a side of spaghetti. I enjoyed every bite. The pork chops were so tender just the wayI like it. The banana pudding was real custard homemade and delicious. I'm definitely going back for more. Thumbs up Southern Smokehouse

I went to this restaurant yesterday I purchase beef ribs they were the driest ribs I ever had I was so disappointed because I love this restaurant . I called the next day and the manager took good care of me and resolved the problem. Thank you for your good customer service.

I finally decided to try this restaurant. Let's start with desserts..... the lemon cake, strawberry cake, and strawberry crunch cheesecake is phenomenal. Fresh and cooked to perfection. Now on to the goodies I've tried thus far: you can't go wrong with the following: Beef Brisket, yams, cabbage, Mac & cheese, cornbread, black eyed peas and rice.

I wanted to come and support a neighborhood soul food restaurant, and I was expected a fulfilling meal. I can say that the portions are large and the staff is nice, but the food wasn't what I expected. The mac&cheese was cheesy, but it wasn't the best I've had. The chicken could of been baked a little longer and the green beans tasted like they were out of the can. I'm happy I supported, but they could improve.

Best food I ever had great prices and good portions the ran out of Pepsi and the lady called me and let me pick another pop I order through uber eats all the time.

This place was a total surprise and not in a good way. My cousin took me here. The pinto beans were from a can and salty. The oxtails were tough, with overcooked carrots and potatoes in a dark liquid. The rice and gravy was the most disgusting. Brown rice used with gravy being same come as the rice-- mushy and unseasoned. I am from Texas and we pride ourselves on our soul food.....this didn't come close. Only gave 2 stars because my cousin said it was a clean place and he ate something different.

I love this establishment rib tips no sauce dressing with extra gravy and yams my husband loves their banana pudding they are like Cheers they know me by name Ms. Tee so I called my orders in and she it will be 30 minutes l said for real I said I'm on my way so about time I get there it should be fine. So we hung I immediately called back and ordered our dessert I can't add it on so she could of just made another order for the dessert but so when I arrived it was no where near ready waited another 30 minutes they should never let all the regular people off together because it was total cluster F___K up in there no organization right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing no supervision

Seriously the best Brisket I've ever had! I discovered this place during the pandemic (they deliver!) and fell in love! This is my new go-to comfort food place. PS- their desserts are fantastic too!

The Ribs Tips - tasty and sauce has good flavor without spicy heat. The Oxtails (three pieces) - some dried out, old and chewy with conservative seasoning aka an expensive meal that was not finished. The Pork Chops - thin cut and small as well as conservative seasoning. Although the Ribs Tips are good, overall, this was expensive and disappointing. Will not return.

First time coming to this place and I ordered Smothered Pork Chops, Mac and cheese, yams and dressing! The chops were thin and everything kind of taste the same! I would like to try something else before I throw the towel in!

The food is good the staff are Courteous the fried chicken is fresh to order and I have had it twice good both times

Very disappointed with first experience here .. ordered thru doordash. Order was completely messed up. Two dinners had dressing and it was not included with the meals, one order was missing greens, potato salad was nasty. And some of the potatoes was still hard. And none of the dinners had the corn muffins!!! My kids dinners was the only one correct minus their muffin.

This is one of those restaurants that ypu go to everytime you want a meal like mom use to make. EVERYTHING, is good and you will love the deserts. Come on down. Ill see you soon.

My dressing and Mac and cheese was over cooked couldn't eat it all. My smothered pork chops was ok no seasoning. I will not order again first time and last time

This place has completely fell off smothered pork chops have a thick ring of fat on them the gravy is oily Mac and cheese taste like noodles with cheese on top the greens have stalks in them the potatoe salad is awful

Nice clean restaurant, friendly staff. The food is laid out cafeteria on a steam table for you to pick from, the prices a reasonable compared to other soulfood restaurants. The food was decent enough for me to return, they have a wide range of dishes I'd love to try. The only thing I didn't like was someone in the kitchen gets a little heavy handed with the salt shaker. I ordered mustard greens and I couldn't even eat them they were so salty, and the noodles in the Mac & Cheese were a little too over cooked......I going to give them another try because everything else in my order was good Turkey wing, dressing & cornbread so I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt, also ask them to give you a sample of the tomato cobbler (sounds weird but trust me its good)

For $72, I expected to be wowed!!! My son ordered rib tips, fries, and Mac n cheese..( fries were missing)my 2 piece snack, was a 1 piece thigh‍(missing a piece) bbq sauce all over the container.. yams were good, Mac n cheese was exceptable.. but that turkey and dressingggggg whew Chile, let me tell u.. they must have poured the whole bottle of salt in the dressing... the beans and rice had a smell‍ yeah, never again

This is our go-to place for soul food. The liver dinner is great! The mac and cheese is very good. Their collard greens are 100% great. The helpings are staggeringly large! We go about 3-4 times a month.
