Google
We were looking to grab a quick slice of pizza before BOTG a couple of weeks ago. This was not a good choice. Didn't enjoy the cardboard-thin, overcooked (burnt crust) pizza "slices" and didn't realize they'd have to make each "slice" individually when we ordered them. Should have & would have just ordered a large pizza instead since it would have been almost half the price & taken just as long as we waited for 2 slices - which turned out to be $8 each! My slice was freaking pepperoni! Geez! Their large pepperoni was only $10 for the whole dang thing, so we wasted money ordering slices. No one working there bothered to tell us or ask if we'd rather order a whole pizza for $2 more than a "slice" (it's called up-selling, y'all!), nor did they even acknowledge us when we first walked in & stood at the register and watched them as they stood in front of us carrying on their conversation as if we weren't there. More than one table had crumbs from previous diners, so there is obviously no cleaning or sanitizing anything between guests. We had wanted to dine-in, but it took so long that luckily they put the food in to go pizza boxes, so we got outta there & on with our evening as soon as it was done. Mine tasted better cold later in the evening when I ate my leftovers, and the "slices" were fairly big, but my other half didn't care for his at all. Home Slice, it's all you from now on! I typically don't give negative reviews, but unfortunately this experience deserved one. I understand every experience and restaurant and staff will differ day to day, but they all shouldn't be a let down at the same time. We will not return, at least not to the South Congress location.

Dont let the very limited parking spaces deter you from eating here. The pizza was outstanding. IMO, the pizza was better than HomeSlice which is just down the road. Some friends also ordered calzones. These calzones were 1/2 pieces and they were massive. I can’t imagine what a whole calzone would look like! Very friendly service and pleasant staff! Parking is difficult, but worth it to get inside and eat hot fresh delicious food. Garlic knots were unique- as in I have never tasted anything like these before and liked them. Highly recommended!

I stopped in here for a light lunch the other day. I enjoyed a slice of their pepperoni pizza. It was delicious with a thin crust like I particularly enjoy. I also had a Greek salad. I ordered it as a house salad ....not the full size (good for two) salad. The Greek salad was the best I've ever had, with lots of kalamata olives, red and green peppers, pepperoncini, cucumbers, onions and feta cheese. The side of dressing was Greek vinaigrette and really delicious. For dessert I topped it off with a yummy homemade chocolate chip cookie. My bill was just below $14.00-- so if you want really tasty local pizza and more, stop by. On a separate visit today, my wife and I enjoyed a meal together. See pictures of: a large Greek salad, a small one, one slice of pepperoni pizza ( cut in two) and a fountain drink. Not pictured is a big chocolate chip cookie. Total cost was $27.81

Google
DISAPPOINTING...My slice of cheese pizza was half the size of the closest competitor but cost $2 more. It's a damn shame when your $5.41 slice is not much larger than your receipt. I came in around 8:30 pm Saturday night, the place was empty. After paying for my slice to go, I was given a dirty look for not tipping (different guy). The gentleman that took my order was nice but with no prices listed anywhere I can't verify this is really the price of this tiny slice. Now that I'm done with this review AND my pizza I guess I will go get something else to eat.

Google
Nice hole in the wall pizza place. Serves good pizza with an old school vibe to the decor. Ran by it by accident. Will definitely be coming back. 10/10 recommended.

Google
High-grade pizza in a low-key atmosphere. Out of this world Stromboli. Big, beautiful salads. Awesome al dente spaghetti. Fast, friendly service. Strong work, gentlemen!

Google
probably the worst italian hoagie/cheesy bread I’ve had in a while. the sandwich had no meat, and for some reason the person packaging the cheesy bread decided to put the sauce cup directly in the middle of the bread. if it’s a to-go order, just put it on the side? there’s a giant dent in the middle of the bread where the cheese just separated from everything. salad was decent. definitely not worth $35.

Google
Pizza was good. We have the pepperoni and a meat pizza and everything came out tasting good. I like thin crust on my pizza and this place had it. I really liked the big windows just makes the place seem spacious.

Lulu V.

Yelp
The staff is always welcoming, the pizza is always delicious and just one slice and I need a larger pant size. Pizza rolls are amazing. Delivery is always fast and order is always hot. Price is on par or better than other pizza places. I've been going there for years and never had a bad experience.

Bhagyashree B.

Yelp
It's a nice little place although a bit run down. Several pizza options, we got half and half pizza, veg and chicken. The Athena pizza was supposed to have spinach, Roma tomatoes and Kalamata olives although these were not distributed in equal portions, so it was super soggy due to +++ tomatoes and almost no spinach. Chicken pizza was a lot better. It took quite some time for pizza to get ready even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. Overall, an okish experience, although I expected more from a well known pizza chain in Austin.

Roy R.

Yelp
Bad customer service. Stopped by for some quick slices one afternoon. Nobody paid attention to me at the window, so I go inside and the girl behind the counter (who is busy refilling the cheese) says she doesn't know how many slices they have ready, but the guy in the back will be with me soon. Guy in the back comes to the front and doesn't even greet me or even actually acknowledge me! He does that one more time and then disappears in the back. This is when an older lady that seemed to be like an owner comes walking from the back. She smiles at me, but then started talking to the girl that was still restocking the shredded cheese. This is when I just decided to leave. The owner lady finally spoke to me and asked if they could help me . I stopped at the door and told her that I had simply just wanted a couple of slices, but not to worry about it because I didn't have time to wait. I left as she tried to tell me to hold up. Little too late by then. Won't be back.

Michael M.

Yelp
This place USED to be awesome. The pizza was not bad. It was not the best either. It was tasty. It was cooked correctly. It did not give the past a light comparatively. Somebody needs to push a mop around and wipe down the tables as well. Bathrooms were ROUGH. It was dirty. It looked dirty. I simply expected more knowing what this place used to be. Step it up, guys!

Skylar G.

Yelp
The garlic knots were really beautiful and well cooked . Very filling and I loved the fresh minced garlic on top, seasoned well. I didn't like the marinara that much tasted a little sweet but you get use to it. I would go back.

Melissa G.

Yelp
First of all Southside Flying Pizza has been tremendously generous with providing the community in Austin, at it's more vulnerable times, dang good slices of pizza. During the winter storm of 2020 Southside Flying Pizza gave away pizzas by the box to any one who needed it! It was truly a sight to see Congress get clogged up right in front of their storefront and their parking lot waiting for food. And for that Southside Flying Pizza is truly an Austin gem. Love the prices on pizza here and the no fuss with lines or waiting to be served or seated. They are fast, efficient, and have the friendliest service on Congress. I am never disappointed with food, wait time on my food, and the nicest service. Patio is super chill to eat your pizza, salad, dessert, and down your beer on. Highly recommend it especially if the weather is nice. Love all the art and murals on the patio. Recently I saw Southside Flying Pizza at Austin City Limits Music Festival (ACL) in 2021 and they were KILLING it with serving so many hungry festers on weekend 1. Kudos to the hardworking crew in the October brutal heat.

Yelp
Ugh I fell for the Instagram influencers telling me that this gluten-free pizza is actually good. The base is not very satisfying, the toppings are simply okay. My husband got the meatball pizza on regular base and also said he's never ordering this again.

Tony M.

Yelp
I visited before the SOCO renaissance and the place was unassuming but made a fantastic pie. That was several years ago. I visited again recently and not a lot has changed. Let's be honest, this is not a "high-end" eatery. When you walk in during an off hour you might notice the smell of bleach and cleaning solution but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I was curious about any changes in food quality. I ordered a cheese and mushroom pizza. After a short wait the food arrived and not much has changed but in a good way. The crust was light, crispy with a nice bite. There was a good balance of sauce and cheese. To be honest, I've had better but also had worse. If you need a quick meal with no pretense, this is your place.

Christina M.

Yelp
I will say the food is good but they treat their employees like shitt. We do the job & can't even get paid. U would think that with the $ they make they should pay their employees

Ashlee P.

Yelp
Best gluten free crust I've had in Austin! My boyfriend and I have been trying every pizza place with gluten free crust in town, and this has been the best so far. The Caesar salad was a bit heavy on the olives/salt, but the pizza made up for the salty Caesar. and we'll definitely be ordering here again. The Congress location is tiny and not really great for dinning in, but if you're planning a cozy night in, this is the perfect place to grab some grub.

John L.

Yelp
I ordered $50 worth of food online for delivery. Then I get a message that it would be delivered by one of those Coco robots you see driving around. No problem since they say food gets delivered in 15 minutes which shouldn't have been a problem since I only live 1.5 miles away. The receipt shows a due time of 7:16pm and I finally received it at 7:55pm and the food was cold. I called the SoCo local where I ordered from and the guy on the phone said it went out no later than 7:20pm and there's nothing they can do for me I'm regards to the wait time or the cold food and to contact Coco. I received a notification from Coco at 7:37 that my food was outside but low and behold.....no robot. I was texting tech support to see where it is and they said it's at some hardware store but there isn't a store near me. Finally after 20 minutes it arrives and food is cold, not warm but cold. Definitely not the way to eat pizza and wings. I reached back out to Coco via text just as their website suggested and I hear nothing from them. And it happens to include the previous one ext thread I was having with them. Instead of "there's nothing we can do and it's out of our hands" like the employee said....maybe don't use Coco Just a thought

Yelp
Ordered a 12" meat sider really disappointing I think they have me a dough sider definitely inconsistent I've been there several times but truly disappointed this time the literally was 13 pepperoni on the entire pizza 8 pieces of ham and only had bacon on 2 slices smdh for $20+ never again!!

Glenis S.

Yelp
I can't explain such wonders that flow through my body when this sweet treat melts in my mouth. 100 out of 10. They have some new staff and they are very professional and made sure my order was correct and ready to go.

Ann F.

Yelp
What happened to Southside Flying Pizza?! We were great customers when in Austin last spring. We returned this winter and picked up a pizza and salad from the So Congress location last night. The pizza could have been mistaken for a frozen grocery store pizza and the salad was a bland and tired looking. And... no more garlic knots! Such a disappointment. They even changed their pizza boxes to generic.

Michael K.

Yelp
Best pizza rolls in Texas and amazing staff! Always so pleasant coming here, 10/10 recommend

Wendy K.

Yelp
The fact that they were the only food truck at the armadillo bazaar was one of the reasons that I gave them 3 stars. 3.5 actually. The salads did not look very good and you were out of the pizza rolls. The slice was very big but I thought the price was very high. 9 bucks for a slice of pizza is astronomical.

Thomas B.

Yelp
Great pizza. Decent price. They were under construction when we went so we had to get it to go. I will be back there if I'm ever on that side of Austin again I would definitely check this place out.

Jon G.

Yelp
I have seen several owners manage this place throughout the years. This time the quality and customer service has gone down the tubes. I ordered one slice of cheese pizza. You would think that this is an easy order considering that this is a long time existing pizza place. However, their pizza is just uncooked limp dough with lots of cheese that is so hot it will burn your lips and hand. Forget about holding a slice the way New Yorkers normally do (folded in half and firm) since it will just spill all the cheese out of the pizza and the dough will just break apart. So in other words, "Worst Pizza" award should be awarded here. To top it off? A guy who is in a very bad mood and does not want to be there will serve you and an African American female who is way too stressed to manage this place. Sad.

Thomas B.

Yelp
The pizza definitely tastes fresh and homemade. The garlic knots were a bit on the doughy side but tasted great besides that. Definitely a nice little family pizza joint.

Julia W.

Yelp
Always a great pizza delivered on time! The Southsider is a particular favorite. Having drinks delivered, too, is great.

Bianca S.

Yelp
Ordered during the COVID-19 pandemic and I'm pregnant and was really craving some pizza rolls! Unfortunately my go-to place just shutdown and I was devastated until I found this place! They have CUSTOM pizza rolls, which is really a rare gem for me as I've never been able to have a customized pizza roll! I made mine with pepperoni, garlic, and roasted tomato pesto sauce, but the point is that I got to choose what was in it....win for me! I also ordered their homemade cinnamon rolls! At this time they have a coupon on their website so another win! My husband went up to the window and picked up our order while I waited in the car. We opened the boxes to make sure they were correct before we left. The pizza rolls looked kinda small compared to what I was used to with my old pizza joint, but upon taking a bite, they were fully loaded! They also provided plenty of marinara sauce! The cinnamon rolls were extremely delicious especially with the warm using drizzled on top! They have definitely won me over with their pizza rolls and melted my heart with their cinnamon rolls!

Devin T.

Yelp
Pizza rolls are the best in the city!! was going to austin's pizza for years but southside has won my pizza biz for the foreseeable future

Don E.

Yelp
Not gonna lie. The pizza was pretty horrible. It is rare that I ever give Pizza a bad review. I will put it this way. Little Caesars has better quality pizza. The dough was cheap frozen cardboard box dough. I saw them making it after I ordered it and it was frozen warped dough. Never again.

Scott C.

Yelp
The best most bad ass pizza around. Doing room isn't the most impressive. But who cares.

Michele P.

Yelp
This place did not disappoint. Staff are nice and not too busy for a quick convo. I had a large of The Lakesider and I honestly could eat two of those by myself. Not bc of the size, but bc it's that good. Def check it out yourself and you will know why I left 5 stars. Pizza itself is thin and slightly dips in the center, the crust is crunchy (to die for) and that's exactly how I like it. The cheese. THE CHEESE. There's something about the cheese I like. The sausage is also super tasty. Just moved to Austin and this is the best pizza so far :) *Pizza Cheers!*

Santiago R.

Yelp
One of my favorite pizza places in Austin. Very happy with the quality here. I also ordered extra cheese and they definitely delivered on the order.

Al B.

Yelp
First time trying it. Last time buying it. Soggy crust! Lacking ingredients! Not a good flavor at all. I like their idea for garlic knots. But not impressed with flavor at all.

Jamie B.

Yelp
Tried this pizzeria today for lunch. Ordered two slices which are about the size of a small to medium pizza put together. Hot out of the oven and was very tasty. Their advertising states "not to thin and not to thick crust." The price is reasonable with a drink, I think I paid about $11. If you are looking for a place to grab a couple of slices I highly recommend giving them a try.

Ken A.

Yelp
Ok, so this is a pizza place and I want to make sure I review the pizza first. It is delicious. It is a very tasty sauce and the ingredients and seasonings used were perfect. As one would assume with a wood fire oven, there was a nice char top and bottom. I would definitely go back for the pizza, but... I also ordered the meatball appetizer. I ate one and was like, wow, so much cheese. My GF ate another and said, "dude, they are completely raw inside." What I thought was cheese was really just unbaked dough and LOT of it (see photos). It was pretty vile. It made everything else I ate after that much less appetizing. Gross. Again, I give it a 3 because of the pizza, otherwise, it would be a solid 1.

Anne Marie N.

Yelp
We got 2 dinner salads and pastas delivers. I have a nut allergy and asked for not nuts on my salad and there was lots of nuts. I called to tell the store and I've been trying for 30 minutes and no answer. This isn't the first time my order has been wrong from them and I overlook because it's usually good and eatable but this I can't eat. Not sure why they wong answer on a Friday night.

kirsten b.

Yelp
I've been coming to Southside for years. I love that there rarely a wait and they choose a groovy music track to dine to. The staff is super nice and they have a nice small selection of on tap beer options. There's a wood fire oven and the pizza is done to perfection! There's some room for improvement, so I have to give a 3 star because of the following: there was no silverware available for 30 minutes, no water available at all - we were told to drink soda instead since they didn't have water and our order can out as 2 cheese pizzas instead of our actual order which always not cheese. I know these guys can deliver the goods, so I'm coming back for sure. Even the cheese pizza is delicious and they comped it for us in the end.

A. M.

Yelp
This is gonna sound totally bananas crazy but my pizza was border line to cheesy- what?! I know I'm f-ing crazy. But damn that was a ton of cheese! The crust is really good- very well cooked, awesome flavor. The topping dispersement was quite interesting- and with that said that's my only negative notice, Pie needed more care in the topping placement. My take away is Over all good pizza- def. better than any of the chains for sure. Especially if you love a sh-t ton of cheese on your pie.

Ino W.

Yelp
This is the pizza I've been looking for. That stringy cheese by the slice is lovely, and the build your own pizza I got pesto as the sauce, mushrooms bacon, and artichokes. I took it home smoked a joint and it warmed back up perfectly. also cute little spot

zee b.

Yelp
The medium pie is tiny and it arrived freezing cold delivered. My place is 5 blocks away. Never again.

Justin S.

Yelp
I can't recommend this place anymore. They changed the recipe, and now it's too much cheese, not enough sauce, and undercooked crust. At first I thought it was just one bad employee. Now I've been to both locations, and it's the same. Whoever changed the recipe: you have terrible taste, that shouldn't be inflicted upon anyone. Shame on you, for ruining something that was once great.

Arthur P.

Yelp
When it's good, it's amazing. Best tasting pizza in 04. But unfortunately, it's inconsistent. Sometimes they burn the crap out of the bottom of the pizza. Today was one of those days :( Pretty black. Disappointing. The melty yumminess on the top was still good, but undercut by the black on the bottom.

Taylor G.

Yelp
This is the best pizza in Austin by far!! I've tried so many places in Austin and this one is just the all around best. Everything about their pizza is perfect!!

Katie R.

Yelp
Terrible experience. Ordered pizza and was told to expect a 55 min wait time for pickup. Showed up after 1hr and 10min, waited 10 min for anyone to speak to me and was told my order was behind 6 others in the queue and would not be ready for another 20-30 minutes. I understand that businesses get slammed, especially on a Saturday night, but the customer service was terrible and the kitchen staff was mostly spending their time talking amongst themselves. Is the pizza any good? I don't know because I cancelled my order without gambling another 20 min or more on waiting.

Liz L.

Yelp
This is the pizza we got. So very disappointed specially because we were the only customers. We ordered the pizza for pick up with a side of buffalo tossed wings which were dry. Had to throw away my whole $30 pizza. Not ordering from here again

Allison R.

Yelp
I ordered Southside on Postmates pretty late and was excited to try something that people compare to Homeslice. I still prefer homeslice because I think the ingredients themselves tastes better and the pizza creations are better. BUT Southside is a good pizza place that I will order from again. I ordered 2 giant pizza slices and instead of what I thought I would get I got 4 slices of pizza in each flavor. The meat pleaser tasted good but I wouldn't order it again because the meat overpowered everything else about the pizza. The 5 cheese please was really good and I would get it again.

Lauren O.

Yelp
Potentially the worst pizza I've ever had in my entire life. If you're an east coaster visiting Austin, DEFINITELY do not come here. Lunchables are better - not worth the $6.75 slice... I'm appalled.

Kristyn M.

Yelp
I've always had a good experience with both dine in & carry out. Pizza, pizza rolls and salads are good!

Jessica L.

Yelp
The pizza is good we came to Austin to try some new pizza place it was worth the drive . The only reason i gave it four stars is because the staff seemed a little over whelmed and they really weren't to busy . We had dinner in the patio and had to continuously ask for somethings she forgot(plates, napkins ,fork and ranch ) and she seemed to get annoyed. I get it's a tough time for everyone right now we still enjoyed the pizza and wings

Christina B.

Yelp
I like southside but the one on Congress is always so slow when I'm there. I ordered through grubhub thinking it would be better. Especially after have a terrible day at work just to wait an extra hour and a half for my wings to be finish... what a great way to end a already frustrating bad day. If I hadn't already paid through grubhub I wouldn't have stayed.

Nobre M.

Yelp
Do not recommend. Lots of flies, unsanitary looking kitchen, long wait & high prices for floppy frozen-pizza style slices. For these prices, go to Home Slice just down the street and get the real thing!

Melissa E.

Yelp
Great delivery pizza if you're in the area. They are big contributors to the city and opened their doors during the winter storm in 2021 to give the community free pizza. Easy online ordering and friendly staff and delivery drivers.

Joe T.

Yelp
A majority of my online orders have either been wrong or missing items. Every once and while they nail it and keep my business. Inconsiderate to the notes that are added. I have a dog and child and the knocking can trigger the pup to bark. Every single time we add to not knock but of course they don't listen. The only excuse was sorry we didn't see that. Today's excuse was I have 6 orders to fulfill. But I got a free tiny brownie as an I'm sorry for taking over and hour to deliver my incorrect order.

Jessica U.

Yelp
Nest pizza in town and back by popular demand pizza by the slice is back. I love getting the slice with a salad, perfect portion meal.

Ari A.

Yelp
I ordered a BBQ chicken pizza slice and it was $8! I was only one in there and it took 20 minutes. Only a quarter of the pizza was bbq chicken. The rest had marinara sauce and jalapeños.. How do you get one slice of pizza wrong? Very disappointed.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Wow this pizza is just amazing. I'm very picky on my pizza and this is just fantastic. I know I would come back when we come back into town.
