Google
IYKYK!!!! The best sourdough in Los Angeles. Bagels, bread. Stuffed rolls, focaccia, sandwiches… sold out by 11am. Lots of vegan options too.

Dennis C.

Google
Had their Tuna on plain white bread. They put too much dill so felt like I was eating dill with Tuna rather than the other way around. All I could taste was the dill. Will come back though to try other sandwiches they have.

Google
The best bagel I’ve ever ever ever had. So flavorful and the texture is just amazing. If you like sourdough you have to try this bagel asap. The team is very nice and helpful. The scallion cream cheese is a dream. Bought some bread to go. Lots of free street parking

Jonathan S.

Google
I got an everything bagel with cream cheese, as well as a date night sourdough roll. The everything bagel was one of the best bagels I have ever had. It was bursting with flavor, with great texture on the outside and warm on the inside. The date night roll was amazing as well, it was packed with flavor and a great thing to have stashed away in my lunchbox for later in the day.

Google
I’m from the south, where I feel the best biscuits are made. But this place here? Chef makes some amazing biscuits. My son loves to pull apart the flaky layers…well I do too. Pull up…check em out!

Isiah B.

Google
I come here every weekend for a bagel and a sandwhich. Prices are affordable and I love the food. Their stuffed rolls are also excellent!

petria S.

Google
Fantastic! Very lovely people own and work in this outstanding bakery. Everything is utterly delicious. They do sell out by about 2:30 though. It’s reasonably priced too. My only gripe is that the payment machine-thingie doesn’t an option for tips so you have to leave a cash tip.

Mike W.

Google
If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Biscuits are simply the best ever! Sandwiches are fresh with quality ingredients on their homemade SD bread! This is a must try spot - you won’t be disappointed

Yelp
SW Bread is still a gem. The baguettes are the best around. It's always a pleasure to visit. Highly, highly recommend. If you love sourdough bread, there is no better place in SoCal.
google avatar

Yelp
Not able to respond to a business comment, so adding an updated review: Cortney, yes- I'm aware all of your bread is sourdough. I asked your employee "do you have any other types of sourdough available" - it's odd that she was so confused by the question. Regardless- you should treat customers kindly, and not make them feel incompetent or like an inconvenience, by asking a pretty simple question. Not a very good business model.

Yelp
Love love love Southwest Bread! I stopped in a few months ago and grabbed the Popeye Roll and the Tuna Roll. Both were perfectly balanced with bread and fillings. It is a great mini meal or snack and doesn't make you feel like you're overdoing the carbs! This Christmas, our church ordered them as our special treat for our Christmas service. They were a hit! I called 72 hours in advance to order them from Courtney because they make the orders with small batch sourdough. She is great! They were ready for pickup Sunday Morning! We had several varieties...Popeye and Olive Oyl, Babaganouch, Tomato Pie and the famous breakfast like roll! Thank you Southwest Bread for delicious and affordable food for the crowd!

Yelp
Quick grab while in the area. Sandwich is great and delicious. I got el porto with focaccia while the wife got sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. I wish the lettuce on porto is not shredded Overall, delicious and would definitely get it again. A small cafe with limited space to wait around but with tables and chairs to dine in. Parking can be tough. Wait time is long so relax while you wait for your food.

Yelp
Southwest Bread is an inviting, quaint establishment with friendly and welcoming staff. There are a variety of food options such as sandwiches, bagels, and biscuits. I got the Hammerland sandwich which had tuna salad, arugula and red onion. It was delicious and fresh! I will definitely be coming back :)
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
My second time back here for lunch and this time I tried their sandwich called The Jetty. I got it on their homemade sourdough focaccia bread. The sandwich was massive and very delicious. I only ate half and I was stuffed! I also got an Arnold Palmer which looks like it was homemade also? It was my first time having one. It was pretty good. Service is always great here. The staff is always friendly.

Yelp
Yum!! Gotta love a good sandwich place :-) Right in the heart of El Segundo, this is a fun and casual lunch spot. They also have some cute, delish "stuffed rolls" which are great to take home!

Dave I.

Yelp
Cool local small business. The bagels are great, My favorite is the lox with all the fixings. have also got the kalamta sourdough loaf and focaccia which are both delicious! Also for lunch, the Porto sandwich on foccaccia is hard to beat!!
google avatar

Lisa F.

Yelp
This place is pretty good, everything sell out fast, you have to come early to get what you want! I ordered a ham, egg and cheese biscuit, it was pretty tasty! Try it out if you're in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Incredibly delicious bread & bagels & sandwiches!! - Bring a stack of sandwiches for your office! Call ahead! - Great breakfast sandwiches! - Deli sandwiches are also fantastic. Very simple and very high quality. - The sourdough baguette is super. - Friendly service too! This is a gem of a local business that we should support! Sliced country bread, baguettes, wonderful bagels. Quiet dining area with smells of the bakery.
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Service was great & Price is Wonderful for the location. I ordered the lox and bagel with onion bagel. I don't know why when I order a lox and bagel in California, it comes with cucumbers and tomatoes. Whenever I order a lox and bagel in NYC, it's usually, salmon, capers, cream cheese, onion & bagel. But whenever I order my lox & bagel here, there it is. I picked out cucumbers and tomatoes first before I dug in. This bagel was decent. Overall it was good but if I ever come back, I will order minus cucumbers and tomatoes.

Yelp
I'm not sure which is better their soft bagels or their flaky biscuits!!! The sandwiches are very tasty & reasonably priced. They have both iced tea & lemonade. As you walk in to the left you'll see the stuffed rolls. The soft dough & filling are wonderful for a quick breakfast. I found the potato filling is quite "hot" so I wait a day & then it's "cooled down" & is perfect! Most mornings they sell out quickly so come by early!!

Sam T.

Yelp
Got there at 11:30am and they were already out of all biscuits and bagels. They said that was typical. Pretty disappointed since we made the drive just for those, and that eliminates most of their menu. The shelves of bread were also empty. Maybe they should consider baking more since they are still open for 3.5 hours and that eliminates most of the menu. Seems like a pretty easy solution since they are now paying three employees to stand around and chat and the restaurant is empty. Maybe we'll be back. But with no guarantee of getting anything, not sure it's worth it.
google avatar

Ry B.

Yelp
Best Jalapeño & Cheddar Bagel! You can order it as a breakfast sandwich too; I like to get egg and ham on a Jalapeño & Cheddar bagel. Try to get there before I do, they sell out quick.
google avatar

Yelp
Sour dough bread is very had to come by especially shaped in a sliced loaf form. A few minutes from LAX in the sweet cozy city of El Segundo you will find this gem of a place. Right next to the blue butterfly you'll find this cute bakery. Ample parking in front on the main street. There's also parking in the back but we haven't needed to park there since we go early in the morning usually. Their sourdough is very fluffy and lasts for a good while on the table or even in the fridge. I like to keep it on hand for any instances I'm craving any sandwiches and it holds well on the freezer. I have had the tomatoes basil knot as well and it basically tastes like a pizza ball. Make a stop here and bring home some bread! It is definitely worth it if you're in the LAX area!
google avatar

Leslie K.

Yelp
Fantastic bread and little rolls with filling. Have come for bread many times and love a baguette. Finally tried the sandwiches this time. We got the breakwater (Italian) and el Porto (Turkey) on focaccia. I loved the chipotle aioli and would absolutely come back to try the other flavors. Sandwiches made to order and service is always quick and kind. I like that they have seating and booths inside.
google avatar

JoAnne P.

Yelp
Best biscuit ever! Also loved the sourdough loaf. I wish I bought more. I can't wait to try everything else. Staff was so kind.
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
Best breakfast sandwiches in town IMO! Fresh, fresh bread. Also, the take away rolls are tasty and available to pick up and go. My wife and I can't wait until later in the week when they open to go.

Katie B.

Yelp
I would share a picture of my delicious bagel, but I ate it too quickly! Great spot for breakfast in town, affordable, and delicious. Will return every weekend!
google avatar

Lewis C.

Yelp
I've been here before to try their bread, but this time I tried a sandwich (at my daughter's suggestion) and it was superb. I had the Porto - a turkey and provolone with pickled onions and aioli - on focaccia. It's an extra $2 to have it made on the focaccia, but well worth it. The sandwich was downright yummy. I would order that again in a heartbeat. They also make their own bagels in-house. I tried the sesame and it had sort of a sourdough vibe to it. Great place.

Caroline E.

Yelp
Great ambience, friendly staff and amazing selection of breakfast pastries. I highly recommend
google avatar

Tracy P.

Yelp
They just keep getting better and better! The sourdough tastes even stronger if that's possible. No other sourdough bread tastes as fresh. We are so lucky to have this place in our town and walking distance at that. I do miss the banana bread but it's fun to be surprised with random treats every week.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this bakery in el segundo! they have unique stuffed rolls that are affordable and delicious. i love their sandwiches (on fresh baked bread!). service is always extremely quick, easy for a grab and go meal. more people should be heading to southwest bread.

Yelp
Cute hole in the wall gem with amazing baked breads and awesome sandwiches! +located in heart of old town el segundo area. Actually dropped by here on a whim! Was trying to get cup of coffee from two guns and noticed that there was good amount of foot traffic on Sunday at 9am so decide to pop in and we're so glad we did! +plenty of street parking available +as I mentioned earlier, we were at the shop around 9am and some of the baked goods were still warm! +we decide to buy popeye (spinach, herbs and mozzarella) and submarine (salami, pepperoncini, roasted red bell pepper, mozzarella) stuffed rolls, sourdough baguette, the Porto sandwich and jetty sandwich. We haven't tried the sourdough baguette yet but everything's been so tasty!! The stuffed rolls are probably made of sourdough bread so it has just the right amount of sourness and the dough was cooked to perfection. I had the popeye and the stuffing tasted great and my boyfriend loved his also. But both of us LOVED their sandwich on the focaccia bread more! I had the ham and cheese one called the jetty (ham, cheddar, shrettuce, house pickles, Campari tomato, Dijon and Mayo), which tasted like an elevated classic ham and cheese sandwich and my boyfriend got the Porto (turkey, provolone, chipotle aioli, pickled red onion and shrettuce), which was like elevated turkey sandwich as well. Honestly both were GREAT but I definitely would get the Porto next time! The house made focaccia bread had perfect crust and the texture inside was delicately soft springy. The bread is also seasoned and I think it had a hint of olive oil and herbs, which definitely made the sandwich. +they also offer bagel and simple bagel sandwiches. I would love to try their lox bagel sandwich next time -nothing negative but just want to point out that you cannot modify the sandwich to add any proteins. Honestly the sandwices on menu are great as is!! Love supporting small local shops. So glad I found this gem on a whim and can't wait to be back!

Yelp
Food was just ok. Girl at the counter was real nice and friendly. The tall lady in the back has a rude attitude. My elderly friend wanted napkins and asked the server politely but the tall lady in the back screamed for the whole place at my elderly friend; "the napkins are on a side table!!" the napkins where at some place far removed from our tables. What happened to customer service or just plain humanity?? The store wasn't even busy...

David M.

Yelp
Best sourdough. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggooooooo. Seriously really good bread. I ate a whole loaf to the dome.

Dana P.

Yelp
Best bread in the South Bay- hands down. We were so excited to finally make it to the shop since we used to be regulars at the farmers market and have gone months (maybe even a year) without it! Every flavor of the stuffed roll is amazing but I love the eggplant and the vegan spinach. Picked up a few loaves to store in my freezer since there's no bread around like this!
google avatar

Edgar D.

Yelp
Simply amazing. If you're a sourdough connoisseur or just enjoy a well made sandwich starting with the bread this is the place. Make sure you get here early and try their stuffed rolls. Plenty of seating or take it to go.
google avatar

Salima N.

Yelp
Sweet little bakery serves mostly fresh loaves of bread. I was lucky enough to snag the last slice of delicious banana bread! Met the owner who was super sweet and as a fellow restaurateur, it was nice to share a brief conversation about the challenges of the food industry. Nothing fancy here but the bread was amazing and the service was perfect. As always, I'm rooting for the little guy and this is certainly the epitome of small business right here in LA! Support your local small businesses, starting with Southwest Bakery :)

Yelp
Southwest bread deserves more hype! The service is amazing and the breads are delicious. I went here during breakfast so I got a bagel. They're super affordable especially for being made in house. I added cream cheese and was excited that they put such a generous helping of it on- I get so discouraged when bagel places charge you and give you a mini plastic container of Philadelphia cream cheese they bought in bulk. The server was so kind and even though it was very busy was still really friendly and efficient. We were served quickly. The coffee is also really affordable - $2.5 for a drip, we love to see it. It was really tasty as well. I will be back soon and get some bread to take home too! They have a great selection of little bagel sandwiches or regular sandwiches, or you can just take some bread to go.

Yelp
Had our first visit last week as they are slow-rolling their open. The place is really dark so if you don't look carefully you may think they're closed. (They should rip down the blinds, open the place up and paint the walls a light color) But that's just me. It was formerly a night time sushi place. I had their El Porto sandwich on a baguette which was excellent. They had a shelf with all kinds of breads, bagels and stuffed breads. I was here for a late "to go" lunch so most of their items were sold out. I was told they bake their bread early morning and that's it until they sell out. Love that. Sourdough is one of my favorites and I am coming back for a lot more of there menu soon. Wonderful addition to town.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
Hands down, THE best fresh bread! It's deserving of more than five stars. Here's 10! Definitely will be coming to Southwest Bread for exquisite bread.
google avatar

Nari H.

Yelp
Was walking through El Segundo several weeks ago out of sheer nostalgia for my old stomping grounds and came across their signage for sourdough bread (which I love but too lazy to make myself), got a loaf and omg regretted not getting more. Now I try to make it a point to stop by this place whenever I'm in the area. Since it's local, I called on a recent Sunday to check hours and they were out of everything except this custom sandwich they made for me (which was SO good btw). Now I know to pre-order on their website (or email/call ahead) so I get my delicious bread and not risk them running out for me! Highly recommend. The folks here are super cool/friendly, and omg I truly love their bread. Hope they never change!!

Greg C.

Yelp
Quaint with a family vibe. Primarily a bakery, so the odds of them being sold out of a menu item increase later in the day. We both had sandwiches that were far better than expected. Beer options available too
google avatar

Yelp
Update: You can read the owner's response to my original post and make your own judgments, but it only adds to why we felt awkward and uncomfortable. It's fine that they don't make adjustments to their bagels, but it was the way she said it. As we were waiting for our food, I did want to observe their interaction with other guests to see if it would be similar to ours. I unfortunately have to adjust my review to one star from three originally... Sunday, 8/27/2023 - As someone who keeps their own sourdough starter and bakes sourdough bread, I can appreciate the effort in food preparation. My comments below are meant as constructive criticism. In summary, our experience was awkward... Food: My partner and I ordered egg and cheese bagels. My partner wanted to add lox but was met with judgmental "no" response by the lady behind the food preparation counter. It seems like they don't accommodate adjustments. We simply won't be returning because the experience was rude. Our sandwiches turned out decent. We witnessed a lot of microwaving, so I can't attest to the freshness. Service: We entered the facility and were met with blank stares by the food preparers. The girl we ordered and paid with was sweet though. I was expecting the owner to be more forward and friendly based on other reviews, but that wasn't the case. Extra comments: The bagels are displayed at the back counter where the food preparers were. Customers have no way of gaging what flavor of bagels are available still. There was a point when we were ordering, the cashier thought they didn't have anymore jalapeño bagels, but the lady at the food preparation counter sternly told her that they did. All to say there could be some adjustment for efficiency.

Yelp
Bought bagels this morning for my crew over at PXP Studios and we loved them! Thanks so much. Support local business!

Stephen W.

Yelp
skimped on serving size and wouldn't even give an option to get double meat for extra money. was rude when I asked.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
Such a cute shop in El Segundo. The owner was really friendly and the bagels were delicious. You can really tell the sourdough is well made and good quality. They have vegan cream cheese and other vegan options as well. My favorite stuffed sourdough ball was the Hot Potato for sure! They also take orders online the day prior, so you don't have to worry about going there too late in the morning when things are sold out
google avatar

Stoopid S.

Yelp
The Stuffed Rolls are something special Sourdough balls stuffed with cream cheese and some spectacular ingredients that all compliment each other the Night Owl (Bacon, Cheddar, Onion Jam) is my favorite and seems popular. The Submarine (Salami, Pepperoncini, red pepper, mozzarella), the Olive Oil (Castelvetrano Olives, Feta, Garlic Confit) and the Date Night (Dates, Goat Cheese, Rosemary, Orange) are bangin too. And then everything else is worth trying. They've also had seasonal stuffed rolls...a Hatch Chile during the season was awesome Bagels and Sandwiches also great..I'm still exploring! The Everything Bagel was covered in flavor and had a nice textured dough Everything we've tried was made the day of....super duper fresh And the service has been awesome....greeted with smiles and treated like special guests they're excited to share their food with
google avatar

Yelp
SUPPORT THIS PLACE! My daughter and I stopped in this morning and grabbed a couple bagels which we couldn't be happier with! Everyone was extremely hospitable and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in the door. It is SO INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT that the community supports small businesses like this. PS.... SO MANY VEGAN OPTIONS!!!

Dan C.

Yelp
Simple mistake was made, but they handled it piss poor. They called a similar name to mine and gave my food to someone walking in with the same name. I was already waiting 30 minutes. I overheard the lady making the sandwich compline a d say it was my fault with attitude. I find that insulting that she blames me. 40 minutes later I get my sandwich. They have more workers than customers so unless they bake the bread per each order (which the bread didn't seem that fresh) I don't understand how she is that slow.
google avatar

Bernie K.

Yelp
Finally, someone opened a bakery on main street. They make delicious fresh bread everyday including sourdough baguettes and country breads. Get there early because they sell out of their breads almost every day. They also make the best sandwiches in El Segundo that are absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. They also have a few tables that allow you to sit down and enjoy your sandwiches.
google avatar

Lloyd J.

Yelp
It's now become a routine and I come here several times a week for a bacon stuffed roll + ice coffee. When I'm feeling extra adventurous, I would get an everything (sourdough) bagel as well. If there happens to be banana bread, I get that every now and then because it's pretty amazing. The biscuits are also phenomenal. I've tried everything now but the sandwiches and since everything else is amazing, I assume those are great as well. Service is always amazing. Ambiance is always amazing. Cheers to a great local spot.
google avatar

M. S.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. I'm an East coaster so I'm always looking for great bagel places in LA, unfortunately there's not many. But this place is fantastic. The bagels are all sourdough so there's this great chew and tanginess. The focaccia is phenomenal. The place is new so they're still finding the footing, but the sandwiches and bagels are where it's at. Come in for breakfast or lunch. You won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Kait D.

Yelp
We love this place! Bagels, breads, sandwiches and the stuffed rolls are delicious and staff is always so friendly, and hospitable! We are beyond happy to have this shop in town!! Also, I'd like to add, the fact that they have a 1 star because of some guy who got mad about them not being able to break a $100 first thing in the morning is ridiculous. Small businesses like this one can't do that first thing in the AM, it's not uncommon and most people know and understand that. Sorry lieutenant, but your loss is our gain.

Neal P.

Yelp
So excited for southwest bread!!! Incredible sourdough, amazing owners. The perfect addition to an already fantastic downtown. The definition of passionate and talented entrepreneurs doing what they love. Have to support it! We're lucky to have them.

Jason S.

Yelp
Among the best bagels I've ever had. I got an onion bagel with scallion cream cheese. Bagel was super fresh and tasted like an onion bagel with a hint of yummy sourdough flavor. Bagel was crunchy on the outside but super soft inside. Yum! I'll be back.
google avatar

Craig R.

Yelp
So glad I found this place! It just opened up and it's already become my new favorite lunch spot. Such friendly service and all the bread tastes amazing - from the stuffed sourdough rolls to the loaves to the bagels - do yourself a favor to try them all!
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
Such a wonderful place with amazing everything! From the sourdough stuffed rolls to biscuits to bagels to baguettes, all so good! Even the coffee is delicious. My husband and I love their sandwiches too and my toddler loves all things bread so is a big fan. Great customer service, and warm hospitable atmosphere!
