Misleading yam promotion – Austin location. This is the third time staff have refused to honor the advertised yam promotion, saying it is “on and off”—a term with no explanation or disclaimer on the flyer. In the end, the promotion is not honored at all. Promotions should be clear and consistent, not arbitrary. Very poor customer service.

There are the Worst grocery store to go to. They have a terrible customer service.mostly the ones in the kitchen. You walking and say hello they would looking at you face away can’t even open their mouth to say hello back acting like they’re been force to work there, I walking pick up items nobody there to check me out. Went back to the kitchen to ask for someone, they didn’t about it, I left them alone and left.

I’ve been a loyal customer to this store since they opened! I’m highly displeased at my recent experience on Sunday. The very rude cashier packed my groceries in such a way it caused my loaf of bread to be flat. We didn’t noticed until we put the groceries in the car. I immediately went back into the store to inform her that the method she used flattened my bread and requested to switch for a normal loaf. She rudely dismissed me and told me to talk to the manager. He was very unhelpful and blamed me for flattening the bread. He said no one else will buy the bread if I exchange it. If I went to HEB/Walmart/Trader Joe’s this would not be a problem at all! Please train your staff how to properly bag groceries and to have good customer service. Even the manager was out of line! Imagine arguing back and worth about a $5 loaf of bread after spending over $300! Very embarrassing and poor service. Don’t get into the customer service industry if you hate customers.

I recently purchased goat at this place. I got 10 pounds of goat meat. After I purchased it I placed it in a freezer bag and headed straight home. After I got home I marinated it and let it stay in the fridge . Tell me why the morning of Christmas as I am cooking the goat it starts stinking up and falling apart. The goat wasn't even on the stove for 30 minutes. The meat was falling apart like it was pressure cooked but the skin was still hard . They sold us spoiled goat and when I called the owner they said we must have passed some place else before heading home. They refuse to refund us. This is honestly very upsetting and disappointing, I will not be buying any meat here again!

The baker woke up and chose violence today on the buns. The stars is for the puff puff. The buns were a terrible disappointment. I don’t think anyone even tasted these before they were put out for sale. Straight to the trash. I opened several to see if maybe it was just one but the entire batch of buns were tasteless, no sweetness at all and undercooked. It’s like they too puff puff mix and said let's add flour to it and call it buns. Please do better. We are already having to pay higher prices for your items so make them worth it please.

Great African Market. They offer a wide variety of mostly nigerian goods with freshly made selection of nigerian dishes available a la carte. They have rice, goat meat, porridge, puff puff, meat pie, egg roll, designer stew etc. If you're looking for a place to do your African food shopping, then there's no better place.

Scotch eggs was basically like eating raw dough. Gave 3 stars because cashier was friendly. Otherwise the service at the kitchen needs better work.

DO NOT BELIEVE THE LOW RATING! This place has by far the largest selection of Nigerian groceries and the BEST Jollof in the city! I went there yesterday after not knowing that this location was here! My boyfriend and i are from Houston so we are very familiar with the locations there. But when we heard it was here and has been here for YEARS, we felt robbed because we could have been eating good Nigerian food all along! The jollof is so flavorful and has that classic smoky party jollof taste we like! Plus a plate of jollof comes with your choice of beef, chicken, or fish on top. The cherry on top it is only $7.99!!!! Best deal in Austin for sure. We also like the suya at the Houston locations but we missed it here (they tend to run out fast because they are sooo good) Do not go anywhere else for affordable delicious Nigerian food!

I have no clue why the rating is so low because that hot food be BUSSING!!! I wish I could order on DoorDash or Instacart. That "designer stew" is addictive!!!!

This is the only major Nigerian store in the Austin areaand it has most of what you'll need including raw produce, processed food, warm cooked food and frozen cooked and raw food. Most of the staff are nice but service can be slow. It's not particularly a clean store but it serves its purpose. You can find anything from raw yams, raw or cooked Egusi, and fresh seafood all the way through garri, milo and Maltina. I would come here again, but given the location, mostly because there's nothing closer to central Austin.

The Southwest farmers market is selling MAGGIE cubes in a wrap instead of the original packaging from the manufacturer and this is lots of health concern as the original manufacturer packaging has expiration date on them. This is a health issues for Nigerians in America. 1 We don't know the manufacturer expiration date. 2. Many years ago in Nigeria people alleged that MAGGIE cubes was cursing cancer because Nigerians were using expired MAGGIE Cubes. Back in Nigeria packaging expired food is common because there is no FDA checking packaged food so business repackage food to make profit and don't care the dangers or harm to customers. Being too greedyness can cause harm to customers who have no knowledge that the MAGGIE cubes has expired putting a toll on AMERICA health systems. The store management should immediately discard all the raped MAGGIE cubes from their stores all over USA for safety reasons. This AMERICA and not Africa were expired food poisoning has killed too many people. African and American society should not tolerate this type of nonsense. America is better than this nonsensical business behavior of a company trying to curse health catastrophic to customers out of greed.

This place is a blessing to have. However, a lot of us would like to see the akara return to the fresh beans, homemade it used to be. please stop using the packaged powder products in place of the real beans, nicely flavored and just enough onions, peppers and maggi like before would be great. Return to what you guys have done best in the past. Stop chasing your frequent customers away.

I can finally say that I have been to the three locations in Austin, Dallas, and Houston. Truth be told, my best experience was here at the Austin location. The staff greeted me upon arrival, and everyone was focused on doing their job!Typically in the other two locations of staff will either argue with you or are just flat out rude. However, this location everyone was nice and friendly to me. To get deeper into this for you, they had a decent selection of African produce.however, they did not have that much spice selections, which I typically find in the other locations. I bought meat pie, which I would rate a 7 out of 10 only because it is too oversized and doughy for my preference. In addition, i bought amala flower, fresh iru, cow meat, crayfish,bell peppers,and palm oil. I don't know what it is with them always running out of habanero peppers at all locations, but they didn't have much habanero peppers to choose from. Overall, I would definitely shop here on a Sunday morning when the crowd isn't too much..

This was my sister and I's first time coming to the store. We decided to come check it out because we just moved here and we have been looking for an African store so we decided to check it out. They didn't have what we needed but the store was a bit dirty and they had some habaneros that had mold in it!! Eww And the guy at the counter was a bit rude too. We bought some jollof rice and he was looking towards that area and we thought he wanted to know how much the jollof rice is so we were telling him the price because sometimes the cashier forget what the price of something is and he said "if I know the code, I would know how much it is." Yeah, we are DEFINITELY not coming back!!

What happened! Management? Staff? This place used to be clean and stocked! The bakery is down, yam and plantains rotten, bathroom is nasty, store looks unkept and the shelves are scantily stocked. Atleast the jollof rice is not extra hot(spicy) anymore. This place has potential. Management do better, this is our go to Nigerian store!!!!

I've bought your frozen okra soup twice and each time I.get home and heat it up, it's smells and tastes sour like you only freeze it after it's sour. This is so unsatisfying and very annoying. I never expect anything like this from any restaurant, not just once but twice. Now I'm skeptical about trying any cooked soups

excellent african market, the location is great and food is delicious. i visit their store in houston and service is good, the managers help me to find whst i was looking for. i give then five star.
