My friends live here. I always enjoy getting to visit them. I love that this building is historic and all the other tenants I've ever interacted with here are all beyond friendly. Unfortunately, I've heard nothing but terrible things about the building's management. They are extremely unfriendly to just about everybody: delivery people (from USPS to Uber drivers), the tenants, visitors, and I imagine the contractors who have to come out at least once per month to fix that elevator. I've also occasionally observed that other tenants can be unfriendly to each other. Many of the tenants here keep dogs and despite all the signs asking them to clean up after them, they consign the other residents to doing so. It's very contentious in this building despite its history and some of the beauty it holds. I've met some of the friendliest people in this city here. It is a shame that such a building is owned/managed by some of the meanest people I have ever known in this city.
I firmly support any and all efforts of unionization by the tenants. They should have fired the manager years ago. Frankly the tenants should own this building, they could probably do a better job keeping this elevator from breaking, or outright overhauling it, than the managers ever could.
