"With its majestic arched windows, vintage furnishings, and pleasant tangle of potted plants, Sovereign Remedies feels simultaneously posh and convivial. The imaginative, seasonal cocktails — always among the best in the city — tend to leverage local fruit and herbs. The food menus from executive chef and owner Charlie Hodge lean Southern but still wander playfully around the globe, showcasing whatever’s currently being harvested at nearby farms or brought in fresh from the North Carolina coast. Weekend brunch is a particular treat, with live music to complement dishes such as brown butter cornbread French toast or fried green tomato Benedict with pimento cheese and chow chow." - Gina Smith

Sovereign has been one of my long time favorites as an Asheville local. The location really cannot be beat if you want to be downtown- from holidays to late nights to popping in for the odd drink while walking around. The drinks and service are great. The aesthetic/ atmosphere is Romantic as in you'd expect to see Keats and Shelley writing poetry at the bar. Like if your literature professor was actually an immortal nature spirit (fae academia?). I promise that will make sense if you go 😂 I am so happy that some of the former staff were able to buy it and kept it from closing. They've made a lot of great renovations already- from menu to facilities. You can tell the new team has put a lot of attention and love into the details. If you aren't sure what you like, Margaret will be an amazing guide- asking what flavors you like to help choose a drink, etc. Regardless, she cracks me up and all the new owners/ staff are really lovely. Ask them for Asheville recommendations if you're new to town!

Our party of 7 stopped by for drinks at 7 pm after an early dinner on Friday, 5/17/24. Very cool place! Bar seating, some couch seating, and counter seating along the windows. There’s also an upstairs! We didn’t try the food, so this review is for drinks only. Here’s what I had: - Blue Ridge Blues ($15): Delicious. OMG it was so good. Highly recommend! - Truth or Consequences ($17): Also super good! - Revival Tour ($10): Very heavy on the beets. If you’re not a fan of beets, skip it. Otherwise, very good! I also tried the Blood Orange Espresso Martini—tasty and unique! Great place for upscale drinks! Highly recommend!

Perfect spot for a low key solo outing. I came here on Saturday night in the mood for a good cocktail somewhere new. It's in the heart of downtown, right across from the dueling piano bar and was about a mile from the hotel where I stayed. I found some street parking a block away. Luckily it was relatively warm so I didn't mind the walk over. Sovereign is dark but inviting and was pretty crowded as expected on a Saturday but I sat at the lounge/sofa area right up front and enjoyed my beverage while finishing up my most recent book. They have a bunch of great classic options as well as some creative offerings as well as standard beer and wine picks. I opted for the Now We Dance (tequila, triple sec, coconut milk, rosemary syrup, lime, smoked salt rim) and it did not disappoint. My server was nice and friendly and checked in on my a couple times before I was ready to close out. I was tempted to try the wine port, but I ended up checking out another spot instead. It’s pricey but worth every penny for the experience and flavor! I will definitely come back here though - they have a food menu too and a Sunday brunch that I would love to try next time.

Inviting and magical, you know you’re in good hands when you sit down at the bar—you can feel it and you can see it. With a cozy and whimsical atmosphere, gorgeous decor, Sovereign Remedies is the perfect place for any occasion. But what truly makes this place shine are the people behind it who are intentional with every choice and have put the utmost care into creating a warm and lovely experience for all who enter. Delicious and creative cocktails with bartenders who clearly delight and are driven by what they do! Staff is attentive and caring, always with suggestions in case you’re not sure what you like too, so it’s an approachable place for the experienced drinker or someone looking to try something new! Special shout-out to one of the bartenders and owners—Margaret—who is a genuine delight, will have your sides splitting with laughter, and is someone you can tell loves what she does!! Just go people!

My favorite part of this restaurant was the location, the large windows, and the cozy sitting area upstairs. The bathroom needs cleaning and updating. The food on the menu was not the same on line, so we were taking back with what was available. The fries were nothing special. The trout was OK but not worth the price. Our waitress constantly wanted to take our plate away before we were done. I saw her doing the same at another table. They were grabbing the last morsel as she was taking away the plate. She needs to be retrained. I was also disappointed at the cocktail that I received. It didn't have a balanced flavor. My boyfriend's drink was better and had a floating butterfly, which was a nice presentation. For a place that specializes in cocktails, it was very disappointing. Based on other reviews, maybe if we were sitting at the bar, we would get better drinks.

This local gem has truly blossomed! I recently visited and was blown away by the transformation. The space has been completely refreshed, boasting a bright, airy feel downstairs with fantastic bar seating and plenty of natural light streaming through the windows. It's the perfect spot for a casual drink. Upstairs, however, is where the magic happens for intimate gatherings. Plenty of cozy seating nooks, creating the ideal atmosphere for connecting with friends over a drink. Speaking of which, the craft cocktail menu is a delight, featuring inventive and expertly mixed concoctions. And the wine list? Impressive and interesting, with something to please every palate. If you're looking for a locally owned bar with character, charm, and top-notch drinks, this is it. Highly recommend checking out their fresh new look!

What a great start to the night! The cocktails were great, our server was great, the ambiance was very nice and the bone marrow dish was very good. If we had known they had more than just little bites we might have stayed for dinner but we already had reservations elsewhere. Definitely recommend it and we will be coming back when we are in town again!

Google
Huge drink selection. Gorgeous. Full menu. This is the most beautiful and inviting spot in Asheville I’ve been to thus far. The staff were genuinely friendly and happy to help. I had read an article framed on the wall in one of our favorite spots about Sovereign Remedies and their amazing cocktails. We were looking for parking and found a spot on a side street in an area we’re just starting to explore. We started walking and there it was. Right in front of me. Like fate. I was so enamored by the aesthetics I walked right past the host stand. The food sounded amazing! We had dinner reservations so we didn’t eat there but I will be going back!

Yelp
3.5 stars.. There's really only a small dining room upstairs (?). Not that many tables, so definitely make a reservation if you're coming on a weekend. The downstairs is just the bar from what I could see. It wasn't that busy but I thought food took longer than it should. Same with getting waters over to us... there were like 3-4 other tables. The menu seemed interesting enough, but there was nothing on the menu that stood out to me. It does change time to time. It bothered me that it wasn't posted on the website or anywhere at all.. (forgot to take a picture). There was chicken tostada, chicken leg / thigh (special), trout (special), burger, pasta (special). Ended up going with the trout (~$26) and brussel sprouts ($14). The beans were too salty for me.. The trout was good though. The portion of the brussel sprouts was small in reality. I like the paramesan cheese touch. They were good. Everybody seemed to like their food though. I tried some crab lettuce thing. it was ok. I see why others weren't in a hurry to finish it though. There was a pickle dip too. Very pickle-ly if you like. Someone in our party got their food SUPER LATE (mistake in the kitchen) and they comped their meal and their partners.. that was really nice of them. Personally would not come back again more so for the menu selection. not sure if I recommend it either to be honest...

Yelp
My favorite cocktail bar in Asheville. This is my first time eating brunch here. It was amazing. Live music, bloody Mary's , and delicious food. Make a reservation!! So worth it.

Yelp
Such a cute little patio to sip drinks on with the pups! Our server was really sweet, brought out a big bowl of water for all the dogs, and made sure to check in on us often. I ordered And Now We Dance and a Miller High Life to start. It helped stay cool from the hot day and all of the walking we had been doing. Later I ordered a Blue Ridge Blues. Both cocktails were delicious and everyone tried sips of each others so we could trade and grade. Later on we ordered a plate of fries for the table to split and got one of each sauce to try. They were could perfectly, so crispy, and were seasoned really nicely. All 3 sauces are to die for, so I recommend trying them all. The curry ranch and garlic aioli were the favorites.

Yelp
Made reservations here for brunch on a Sunday! Little did I know they had a boozy and jazzy brunch thing going on which was a cool surprise! First off - I loved the decor and atmosphere of this place. The bar was just beautiful with all the plants, high original historic ceilings, the drapes, the mirrors ... it was just all so well done. It had ample seating with a great lounge area up front by the windows. After brunch, we sat down here for an hour or so listening to jazz and sipping expertly made cocktails! As for brunch - we sat in the upstairs dining area which was also really cute. The only downside was the kitchen was near our table and they were blasting music which made for a weird vibe since the jazz was also playing (maybe close the kitchen doors or tell them to turn it off??) LOVED that it was dog-friendly as well since we were traveling with our pooches! Yes - they got to sit at the table with us inside!! THE BEST! Our service was pretty good as well, nothing amazing, but nothing terrible. As for the food - it was really good! Everyone at the table loved what they got and you know this foodie had a bite of each and everything! The Brown Butter Corn Bread French Toast was unique and totally worth it if you're craving the sweet side. But I loved my Coastal Benedict as well - the fact that it didn't come on bread was even better as the salmon cakes were the star of the plate and the greens were incredibly fresh, and crisp, and you could tell they came from the market instead of a bag of basics. I loved all the cocktails we had as well! Just a really enjoyable brunch!! And I wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
This place has the vibe of a speak easy with comfy couches. The drinks magical but the food the servings are small and the menu is very small. Our bill for three was 107.00 and two of Us were still hungry. The food is delicious and the service 10/10.

Yelp
Very cool hipster bar. Loved the ambiance. I ordered "And now we Dance" and it was absolutely delicious. This is a great place to grab a drink before dinner!

JC R.

Yelp
Awesome cocktails! Very cool vibe and hipster! Love all the cocktails plus shrimp with truffle oil! Nice cocktail drinks stop prelude to dinner reservation at another venue! Saffron our server was super nice and friendly! A must stop in Asheville!

Yelp
Loved this place! It feels like a whole in the wall - different levels, a patio, a bit quirky. Drinks were elevated, we really enjoyed ourselves. Our server was friendly. It took a little long to initially get helped, though once we got going we were in good shape. We ordered fries to split (bar bites, as a snack) as at 10:30, the menu options were reduced to bar bites only. They were fine. Nothing exciting, did the trick. Several items sounded good though! This is mainly a cocktail bar. No draft beer options (some cans if that's your preference). Felt like a hidden gem.

Yelp
While in town for business, several of us stopped in here for cocktails. Warren was excellent, he knew interesting cocktails which weren't part of their menu, which was really appreciated. So, while they didn't have Chartreuse, they did have maraschino liqueur to make Hemingway Daquiris! The vibe is fun and definitely that of a craft cocktail bar. I'd highly recommend stopping in, especially if in the mood for a nicely made craft cocktail!

Yelp
Sovereign Remedies is the kind of place where if your first date is going really well after dinner then you come here to guarantee that there's a second date because this is a place where love stories begin. Okay, so that may have been a little on the fluff side, but you catch my drift. Sovereign Remedies is a place where you want to impress. Or, if you just appreciate craft cocktails since this is the best cocktail bar in Asheville. We visited Sovereign Remedies on a Sunday, as we made a reservation for the three of us. The place was steady, not too busy, so I guess you could try coming here as a walk-in, but a reservation guarantees you a table on the upper level, especially if you plan to dine. For drinks though, the bar on the main level is a pretty cool set up. The menu is not large, but has a solid selection of craft cocktails, some small plates, a few entrees and desserts. We came here for cocktails, but ended up trying the North Carolina Coast Shrimp, which was fantastic. But the drinks were even better as expected. My first cocktail was the Fighetta Bout It, which was a fig-infused bourbon with amaretto, campari and bitters. If you like figs, then this is worth trying. My next one was the And Now We Dance cocktail, which was a tequila-base with triple sec, coconut milk, lime and a salty rim. It's different in a good way. I would happily come back to Sovereign Remedies when I'm back in Asheville. For cocktails in a hip, romantic setting, come to Sovereign Remedies. Staff was super chill. Cocktails were inventive and strong. And the ambiance is just my kind of place.

Lisa E.

Yelp
Of our 7 night, 8 day visit to AVL, otherwise filled with fabulous, enticing spots, Sovereign was the most disappointing, "we should have walked out" experience of all. While the bustling downstairs bar area may be inviting & colorful, the upstairs is dark, warm & just plain sad. Had a quick snack, realized our mistake, and left as soon as possible. There are so many places in AVL, I would avoid Sovereign. And it was Lee's 65th Birthday, our son thought this would be a special stop on an evening of cocktail bars in town. Lee had a problem with his choice of Bourbon..they were out of the pour that he ordered & suggested another of the same distiller..when he asked about the price of this pour it was 50 dollars for the pour vs 13...we were very glad that he asked..that would be a no. It was just a terrible visit.

Yelp
The best Mocktail of the weekend goes to sovereign remedies. I got the gingy and it was everything you'd want a Mocktail to be with ginger, vanilla, coconut milk, and soda The vibes, the drinks, and the company were top notch.

Yelp
Part 2 of our rainy sojourn from the art museum led us here, a chic and hipster spot that thrives on the newness-of-old line. We had to continue the old fashioned train, and these were tbh the best we've had in Asheville so far. When a mixologist can find that perfect blend of alcohol and bitter and sweet--that nexus that bourbon was meant for--you know you're in good hands (we did Woodford again). For to nosh, we were given a small well of fried wedges getting a little drenched by two savory ketchup-adjacent sauces and one tangy and herby aioli. When all was complete, Sovereign proved the perfect sidestep to an already peaceful and contented drizzly afternoon.

Monica S.

Yelp
We arrived in Ashville after 9pm and by the time we were ready to have something to eat, most places were closed. I was happy to find that Sovereign Remedies was open, so we walked over. I think this place has a nice interior, but not the best if you're looking for a nice dinning experience. It has more of a bar atmosphere. We had a few drinks and I had the crab cakes. The drinks were okay and the entree was okay.

Yelp
I had this restaurant bookmarked to try in Asheville for the past couple years and finally had the opportunity to stop in for an early dinner. When you enter you will observe many plants and a little lounge area. We sat at the bar around 4:15 PM we ordered drinks and appetizers and waited till five to put in our dinner order when the kitchen opened for full service. Service: Our bartender was courteous and got our orders taken care of. Noting noteworthy regarding service. What we ordered: Appetizer - White Fish Brandade This dish was good for 2 people who are hungry and leaving room for a main entree. Very tasty, very savory and fish forward. Main Entree- Cassoulet In case you're wondering what cassoulet means? It's basically what you'd consider a "chili" (I didn't know that and so I'm adding it here for easy reference) . The dish was very tasty, rich and comforting however if I had known it was a chili / stew , I would have ordered something else since based on the price, there were other options I would have chosen to spilt. Side: Black Trumpet Mushroom This dish was just ok for me. Maybe paired with the stew the flavors fell a little flat. Probably would complement another dish better. Now that I've tried Sovereign Remedies, I would say it was good for a one-time experience. There wasn't anything "crave-worthy" for me. If you choose to dine here you will likely find items you'll enjoy.

Madhu Z.

Yelp
Such a cute place and our server tried very hard. The food was unremarkable. The French toast burned. Diet Coke flat and expired. We were a party of 5 ladies and had such high hopes for this local joint, but the national chain was on point here our food and service was off. Please fix the back of the house issues do you can shine!

Indigo D.

Yelp
Wow! I loved everything I ordered here. I got the Chilaquiles (with duck confit, chocolate tortilla chips, cotija cheese, duck egg, and cilantro lime crema) and the Savory Crepe (with trumpet mushrooms, chickpea crepe, béchamel sauce, and local spinach) and split them with my partner. All I can say is MM! Actually, I'll also sing praises about the surprising complexity and sumptuousness of the dishes; the delightful marriage of complementary textures (crunchy, tender, and creamy); and how the flavors wove wonderful symphonies on my tongue. The Revival Tour nonalcoholic drink was also yummy-- it was a pleasing party on my tongue... and good for me too (yay beets)! I will 100% recommend this place to others, and come back next time I'm in Asheville!!

Yelp
Dinner time in Asheville - stopped for a cocktail first at SR which turned out to be a good idea. Ordered a #27 w/ Russell Reserve Rye, Cardamaro, Ginger, Lemon, Bitters & a House G&T w/ Botanist Gin, Calamus, Honeysuckle Elderflower, Hyssop for the Mr. - both were spectacular. Stayed for dinner which was scrumptious. So tempted to come back again the next night.

Carolyn L.

Yelp
A nice cozy place for a night cap. Their selections are endless but their list of food and drinks change often. I have the dessert wine paired with the brown butter pie and liquor infused cranberries. Please dont try to eat the cranberries on its own. You will be tipsy soon. But have it with the pie. It completed the dish. There were 3 people working last night with a full house yet their services were impeccable. This is a must visit when you come to Asheville, NC

Sloan M.

Yelp
I don't give 5 stars often but this place deserves it. The service was outstanding and so was the food. The place is tiny but it is great for a solo gang out or a date night. I had the steak tartar as an appetizer along with the pork belly as a main dish. I was no disappointed in any of my choices and I had a No. 27 cocktail.

Sabrina C.

Yelp
Our server Joel was amazing! He was welcoming and so personal! We got 3 drinks and all were fantastic! Would come back ANYTIME! The food looked good, but small portions.

Theresa P.

Yelp
It is crazy to think a restaurant this bad can stay open in Asheville. Ordered tartare and tuna tartare- spit both of them out. The tartare looked like Alpo dog food. The waitress explained they use Hamburger meat for this- and it oxidized to that color. WHAT???? Who serves raw hamburger meat. Sent both back. Cornbread was decent. Dinner came out COLD! Worst chicken I have ever put in my mouth. Friend had the trout- it was pink like salmon and smelled so fishy. My other friend got pork collar- it too was nasty. We didn't eat- sent all three dishes back. On the upside we had a super nice waitress that took the food off the bill. It was clear from her response that this was not the first time this has happened. Steer clear of this place!! I eat out all the time and have never had a worse experience.

Tia W.

Yelp
It's a cold and rainy Saturday in Asheville. So, we duck inside a cute, little bar and eatery and discover a little oasis. A delicious Old Fashioned at a quaint and intimate little table upstairs, while we enjoyed the Smoked, Fried Fingerling Potatoes. The staff was friendly, quick, and welcoming and the vegan herb aioli on the fries made my absolute day.

Hannah H.

Yelp
The BEST cocktail bar in Asheville. The ambiance is a mix of botanical gardens with a 1920s great gatsby party. Does get super busy on the weekends so try and go early for a great spot (snag the couch in the front to the right). Their cocktails change with the seasons but they usually always have their version of a whiskey sour and it's a must! If you're adventurous try their charcuterie. It's one of the most unique ones I've ever had and their mix of meats, cheese and spreads are local + creative

Sabrina H.

Yelp
I really want to like this cute spot but the food is just not good. They have an adorable location and decor in the heart of downtown. I'm also into their fun cocktails. But the food kills it for me. I've eaten here 3 times and each time it has gotten worse. This time I couldn't finish either of the dishes I ordered as they were horribly over seasoned and blew out my taste buds. I wish I stuck to my cocktails. I had the chicken soup and the cornbread and I would not recommend either. I went with a large group and no one was too thrilled with their dishes either. Kinda a bummer when your paying those prices.

Brooke H.

Yelp
Great service at the bar on a busy Saturday night. Pleasant atmosphere with Art Deco vibes. The bar tender, Morgan, was a sweetheart and gave great cocktail recommendations. We'll be back and try the food next time.

Chris L.

Yelp
The food was delectable. There was so many options that I will have to come back. They also have a tasty vegan dessert. I sat at the bar and the waiters are nice. There is not much seating, so I imagine it gets crowded and filled up fast on weekends. It is an intimate setting.

Stacey P.

Yelp
Sovereign Remedies shines brightly when it comes to craft cocktails. My two favorites were the No 27 and the Root Daiquiri. The No 27 was nicely complex, had a good punch, and was very easy to drink. The Root Daiquiri reminded me of a root beer float without the creaminess - it was delightfully balanced, delicious, super easy to drink. I could have sat there all day sipping on root daiquiris and been super happy. Problem was it wasn't an option because we were placed at the table of shame - at least that's what we nicknamed it. We were the first people there and were given the opportunity to sit in three different locations - the bar, outside, or upstairs. We elected upstairs because from the first floor it looked kinda cool - I could see plants and cute little tables. But instead of sitting us near the windows or by the balcony they sat us in the farthest corner table. We laughed saying it was the table of shame but then it quickly felt that way because we were largely forgotten. Our waiter rarely checked in on us at all. He initially took our order and we got a couple rounds in before more people showed up. Once other people showed up he didn't give us the time of day. He would pass our table and we would attempt to wave him down but he didn't pause. Then once they had their orders he vanished. I don't know where he went but after thirty minutes of empty glasses we decided to leave, go downstairs, and pay our bill there. I will happily return in the future one day when I am back in state, but next time I will not opt to go upstairs!

Angie G.

Yelp
Bartender Shad was awesome and didn't steer us wrong. Seasonal G&T was a refreshing crisp fall drink. Not the first time we've been here and love the chill vibe at night. Is a intimate setting and great for a night cap

Patty S.

Yelp
The place is so beautiful and eclectic. On the corner of a street, the lights like the windows and create an inviting atmosphere. The place was bustling. Our waitress was chilly. We sat down and noticed a table next to us that was seated after us. Normally waitresses will acknowledge you if they're busy, but she do not. Then she went to the table next to us that was seated after. She barely smiled and just seemed annoyed to be there. On a positive note, our food came out quickly. They definitely have an inventive take on their food, which I appreciate. But there is nothing that I ate that I would've ordered again. And literally it felt like some of the guys from the kitchen would drop your food off, and not in a nice way. People were having a great time here. If I lived in the area I would try it again. Sometimes having the right server makes the experience different.

Chelsea M.

Yelp
The food was ok. Small portions for the cost. The service was lacking but we got auto gratification 20% with no split check. She never came back. Was rude. I was very unhappy. Drinks were super expensive to find out there were just pre mixed batch drinks. I would not recommend this place. It has a vibe. But there are plenty of other places to eat.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Overall, we really enjoyed Sovereign Remedies! Visiting from out of town, we received a lot of recommendations to come here, and I'm glad we did! We had reservations on a Friday night. It was actually very busy (both the upstairs and downstairs), so highly recommend reservations. The atmosphere was very welcoming/cozy, service was amazing, drinks were very good, and I do appreciate the different take on common things like corn bread and Brussel sprouts. David's Cast Iron Cornbread - not what I was expecting (see picture). Not your typical corn bread flavor because they added some more flavor! Aside from a good portion of the bread being burnt, I'd recommend this! Returning Autumn Fried Brussels - I'm a sucker for Brussel sprouts on the menu. This particular dish incorporated pumpkin purée and sunflower seeds which I liked. They also really crisped up the Brussel sprouts (a lot were burnt - which oddly I love) so worth noting. It's also a LARGE portion. Molé Smoked Lamb Enchiladas - really well done with the flavor. It's kind of a smaller portion compared to other things and $27. Not sure if it's worth the price point, but definitely recommend! Cocktails are top notch here! We had the Peaki and Shrub and both were delicious! If not in the mood for food, this is also a great stop for drinks!

Ginger W.

Yelp
This place. Just wow! WOW WOW WOW! I initially picked it cause it had good reviews and a block from my hotel. The Requiem for Soring cocktail might be the best drink I've ever had! House made strawberry infused Campari? Yes please! I'm a gin lover and this drink was gin drinking perfection. It's earthy, herby, balances sweet and spirit forward flavors. My second drink was mental Clarity and yes it contained charcoal! Nice pineapple pie flavors but not overly sweet. It paired really well with the Chimichurri Apple Brandy Steak. Which was basically steak on chiliquiles style chips. I honestly couldn't taste apple brandy on it, but still super delicious. And the pickled jalapeños? Finger licking good! Cold smoked salmon dip was sooo good. Lots of interesting flavor notes with the dill and horseradish! And fun texture play with the caviar pearls mixed in. Reminded me of popping boba a bit but in dip form! I also am always grateful for an appropriate dip to chip ratio. Nothing worse than left over dip or spread because you got 5 chips. My server was Mitchell and I also met the GM Morgan. I was dining alone so I appreciate that they were engaging and checked in regularly. My server gave great recommendations and advice. I ask a lot of questions because I'm super curious and he gave great helpful response. The GM gave me lots of info about the place and it was interesting to hear all the details, My only regret with this place is I live in CA and can't go here all the time. Go eat here. Now!!

Yelp
Very cool spot with eclectic decor and amazing staff! We started with fingerling potatoes and beef tartare. Both were non traditional but very good! We wished the beef tartare was raw and had a little less mustard but we cleared the plate! For entrees we got the duck confit "purses", deconstructed chicken thigh pot pie, and meat loaf, all generous portions and interesting flavor profiles with the chosen combinations of ingredients!

Yelp
Such a cute place with nice vibe and creative drinks. Unfortunately, either the cashier or the waitress marked up our charge $0.50. This is something some places do thinking the customer will never find out. The over charge is minor but very disappointing that the bar has untrustworthy employees.

Yelp
Incredible experience! We celebrated our wedding with an amazing dinner here while visiting from Ohio. Every encounter with staff was pleasant, welcoming and full of joy. The manager, Morgan, and our server, Morgan were top notch, guiding us through the menu and educating us on the local ingredients and techniques used in preparation. The chef even visited our table with a complimentary dessert. What a special placed filled with authentic, genuine people. This is the kind of place that feels like home. Not to mention the food and cocktails are to die for. I highly recommend: Drinks: Root daiquiri Food: Fig salad, Gun powdered Mars Hill mushrooms, fried green tomatoes Dessert: Chocolate S'more Terrine We will be back!

Yelp
So I'm honestly kinda surprised to be giving Sovereign Remedies a 3 star review. It's such a beloved place in town, and I know Asheville is just obsessed with it! And maybe I was there on an off night. But things... Really weren't amazing. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't spectacular. Our appetizer of fried green tomatoes, although tasty, wasn't anything especially mind blowing or unique. My steak was fine. But that was it. It was just fine. My husband's enchiladas was probably the best thing we had, but it was a rather small portion for the price. My drink was boring. I tasted a bit of cucumber and lemon, but I wasn't at all impressed. It didn't feel elevated, which is what I expected. Our server, again, was fine. He was friendly enough, but literally didn't come to check in on our meal (to see if we were happy) until our plates were empty, and never once asked me about my cocktail (I would've told him the truth... That I found it boring AF and underwhelming). I don't know, maybe we were there on an off night, but there are enough other places in town that I would go to instead. *shrug*.

Yelp
This was the wild card of my visit while in Asheville. I went in with honesty zero expectations & was truly surprised by the final product. My winter bill cocktail was great. Equal parts flavor & balance while maintaining to be a stiff drink to say the least. I agree with over reviews stating that the pub style table overlooking the bar is the best seat in the house. My wife ordered a regular Manhattan, don't mind her, like most wives she's crazy & it was sort of mediocre but the craft cocktails appear to be the star of the show. Where sovereign exceed my expectations was their food. My cold smoked salmon dish was AMAZING! The onions have to be the perfect marriage to the salmon & caviar. If in Asheville this is a must.

Yelp
We loved this cocktail bar. Great drinks a little out of the ordinary and worth trying. We had great service and really enjoyed our time here. The Moon Juice was delicious. It was worth the stop!

Yelp
We came here on our first night in Asheville. I had heard great things about it from other online reviews however some locals we talked to prior to our reservation said it was just OK. I got the house G+T and my boyfriend got the Good AF (sake cocktail) for drinks. My G+T was pretty good but nothing uber special. My boyfriend felt like the Good AF was watered down and didn't have enough flavor for a craft cocktail. We got the Elotes! as an appetizer. I got the fried green tomatoes and my boyfriend got the Harissa Berkshire Babybacks for dinner / snacks. The food and service was good, the atmosphere was unique and the overall experience was worth it. It was not our favorite place in Asheville but I would recommend to stop in for drinks and an appetizer.

Yelp
Best food in my entire life. Beware: if a table is needed one must be able to climb a steep set of stairs. NOT ADA friendly.

Yelp
We had a phenomenal experience here today. The staff was absolutely amazing and the food and drinks were delicious. We had the cheese plate and cocktails which we highly recommend. The space is beautiful and bustling but not too loud. We will absolutely visit again.

Yelp
Visiting from out of town - booked rez for dinner. Amazing food! Everything was packed with flavor. Our favorite was the miso catfish. Not picture was the apple crumble dessert - also delicious. Don't skip on the cocktails either! Staff was kind and attentive. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I came for the 'shrooms. And they were excellent. The selection of food here is limited and I knew that before going in but I wanted to try what I could bc of the stellar reviews. The food is better than the service. I ordered the crispy Oyster mushrooms and I otta hand it to the chef for making something so simple utterly addicting. Definitely get those bc you don't see Oyster mushrooms often. If youre vegan or vegetarian that's all for you except a salad. Kinda pathetic for Asheville standards. My friend ordered the environmentally unfriendly beef burger and said it was great. So yay, we can continue to kill the environment bc this beef burger is good. (Eyeroll)

Yelp
Great bar for any taste, staff is super friendly and very accommodating. Prices are far and drink selection is one of the best around, we will definitely be back and make a regular stop during our visits

Yelp
Five stars all around! My second trip to Asheville and this is officially the most delicious meal I've had so far. Reservations are recommended but we went on a weekday night and were able to be seated right away without a reservation. My friends ordered a variety of drinks and loved each one of them. It seems like they're pretty well known for their drinks. Appetizer: THE Cornbread is delicious. Unlike any cornbread I've ever had. And the butter is literally the icing on the cake! It is a large piece, definitely enough to share with two or three people. Entrée: I ordered the Trout dish which was very delicious! A light dish with the right amount of flavor. Note: Their menu changes monthly so some of these dishes may not always be available. But based on my experience I don't think you can go wrong.

Yelp
Bar seats next to large sunlit windows and lounge area with couches. Bartender was friendly and interested in drink feedback - we learned a few things about mixology sipping on our creative cocktails too. No. 27 is a tasty ginger whiskey sour, winter bull was multilayered and flavorful, gambinos bonfire sort of tasted like a upscale Frappuccino, house G + T was good as well. Small space, but poppin the whole weekend.
