SOWETO TOWERS

We rolled up to the painted cooling towers and the colour hits you first—huge murals against the sky, music drifting from the plaza, people cheering as someone counts down for a jump. We grabbed coffees, found a spot near the base, and just watched for a while. Even without jumping you feel the buzz: harness clicks, a moment of quiet, then a shout and laughter floating back down. Cameras out, then pockets again, because it’s just as good to stand there and take it in. After a bit we wandered the perimeter for photos and kept pointing out new details in the artwork. Kids posed, a drone zipped by, and locals waved us into frame once or twice. The whole place has an easy, friendly energy—industrial bones turned into a meeting spot. We left with paint-streaked skylines on our phones and that light, happy feeling you get when a simple stop turns into a memory.

The towers hit you first—bright murals against big sky—and then the plaza energy kicks in: music, food smells, people filming jumps on their phones. We grabbed coffees, found a spot near the base, and watched the countdowns and laughter bounce around the concrete. Even without jumping, you feel part of it. We wandered the perimeter for photos and kept finding new details in the artwork. Locals waved us into frame and offered angles we’d have missed. It’s industrial bones turned into a meeting place, and it leaves you smiling.

I went to Soweto Towers for a bungee jump and it was nothing short of amazing! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly, supportive, and full of positive energy. Their encouragement made the experience even more thrilling, and I felt completely safe throughout the entire process. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and their professionalism really stood out. I loved every single moment - it’s something I’ll never forget. If you’re thinking about doing it, stop thinking and just go for it! You won’t regret it.

Distinctive landmarks in Soweto. Artwork is ever changing advertising but it is bright and colourful. Used to be coal power stacks (which are still used in other parts of Joburg). I didn't personally bungee jump but enjoyed and was freaked out watching two strangers do so from the bridge between the two towers. I've never bungee jumped before but the price looked cheaper than I've seen elsewhere in the world.

I highly recommend this stop whether you’re here to jump or just soak up the vibe. We rolled in, grabbed coffees, and watched a few countdowns from the bungee platform—silence, a shout, then cheers bouncing off the concrete. The murals are massive and gorgeous in person, so even the non-jumpers in our group had a great time circling the base, snapping angles, and spotting new details. Staff were upbeat and happy to show us the best spots to stand for those gravity-defying photos. If you are the thrill-seeking type, the bungee and other activities deliver a proper rush; if not, the plaza still hums with music, street food smells, and friendly energy. We left with paint-bright skylines on our camera rolls and that fizzy, happy feeling a good city stop gives you. Would I recommend it? Absolutely—great for friends, couples, or families with teens, and an easy add-on to any Soweto day.

Cool place, you can jump on buggy, ride quads, play paintball or take advantage of 50m free fall. But even if you do not want to raise your adrenaline, you can use the observation deck on the tower, which makes a great impression - a beautiful view of the city skyline.

Absolutely loved this place. Went alone for my bungee jump and free fall then returned a different day with my nieces for the view. Staff are phenomenal and so supportive to do the jump. That was my jumpn2 yrs ago and yesterday I took my son for his first bungee jump and fall.

The colorful towers beckon from afar: "Wow, art!" you think - until the dazzling facade turns out to be a giant advertising poster. Bungee jumping awaits at the top, accessible via a rope ladder that looks more like a game show than safe. Inside: A beer garden - quite nice, but 20 Rand entry just to be allowed to buy beer? Oh well. Everything feels like a marketing event that relies more on likes than on real experiences. Three out of five stars - for fans of painted advertising, beer and adrenaline.
