Yelp
Las Vegas has a ton of amazing Mexan food, and ton of amazing vegan food, so it's no surprise they also have amazing vegan Mexican food. But I think SoyMexican may even be the best vegan Mexican food I've EVER had, Las Vegas or elsewhere. I grew up in Texas so I'm super picky about Mexican food. This place nails it. Great taste, very authentic, good value for money, and friendly staff.
OK, so for starters they've moved since I was last in Vegas. They used to be an outdoor food stall near Dino's on Las Vegas Blvd near the Stratosohere. That's gone now and they're now located in the food court at the El Mercado section of the Boulevard Mall at 3542 S Maryland Pkwy. So if you see an address for SoyMexican on Las Vegas Blvd, ignore it and put in 3542 S Maryland Pkwy instead. That will take you to the Boulevard shopping mall. When you walk in the shopping mall, head for the bright colors of the Mercado side of the mall, which has a ton of fun products from Latin America. (You can shop after you eat! Vegan tacos are more important.)
Then head to the back of the Mercado, where there is a little food court and a stage and live music (at least when I was there on a Saturday afternoon). Felt like I was in Mexico with the music, the authentic food, and all the Spanish being spoken around me! So much fun.
Ok so now the food. I've had a variety of their tacos and burritos and they've all been delicious and taste exactly like street food I had in various trips to Mexico pre-vegan. Honestly I don't think meat-eaters would be at all disappointed here. They have some soy-based mock meats, which usually I don't like as well as seitan-based mock meats because of the faint soy aftertaste, but honestly I couldn't taste any aftertaste this time. They also have non-mock-meat options if you prefer beans, mushrooms, etc.
The top 4 options under the "Tacos" heading are all mock meats, and then the Rajas are mushroom tacos and the Nopales are the cactus tacos. The $9 burrito can also be filled with any of these (I chose Asada this time) or you can do a cheaper rice and beans burrito. I haven't yet tried the enchiladas, quesadillas, chimichangas, taquitos, or anything else on the menu, just the tacos and burritos.
I liked the tacos better than the burritos but I don't know which is my favorite -- they were all great. They are smallish (street taco size) so you will probably need 3-4 to fill you up. They're only $2.50 each so still good value for money.
They give you a variety of salsas and lime wedges so you can flavour your tacos however you like.
Next time I'm in Vegas I'll try more options from here and update my review :)
Definitely seek this place out if you're in Vegas!! You will not regret it.
