*Edit: Lowering -2 stars since our server told us all starters were part of HH discount of -$3 off, but upon checking the receipt -- the burrata and soup were charged at full price. Misleading info.
Happy Hour runs 4-6p Wed-Fri. We came on a Wed around 5:45p and it was not busy at all. Bites, Starters, Craft Beer on tap, and House Cocktails were all discounted at $3 off.
BITES:
Oysters on the Half Shell
$29.00 (1 dozen = $2.42 / oyster)
kumquat-yuzu mignonette
-- very fresh.
Brussels Sprouts
$11.00
crispy bacon, calabrian chili aioli, agave, candied fresno chili, parmigiano reggiano
-- I found this dish too sweet / doused in too much oil and sauce, but my friend really liked it. We both liked the way it was cooked; crispy on the edges but tender enough in the center so it wasn't like trying to bite through rocks like at Eureka! lol
St. Louis Style Spare Ribs
$11.00 (1/2 rack)
soy-ginger bbq glaze, cabbage slaw
-- Best value on the HH menu, so much food on a full dinner plate! Flavor was great.
Arancini Verde
$9.00
sun gold tomato, cherry tomato vierge, gouda, mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, manchego
-- Great HH dish, crispy on the outside while soft and savory on the inside without being too salty. The vierge was heavenly!
STARTERS:
French Onion Soup
$6.00
beef demi glacé, brandy, emmental cheese
-- We both found this soup WAY too salty. It was a huge glob of cheesey bready mass floating in piping hot soup, and we had to take it out the mass of fat + soaked carbs to cut it w/ fork and knife in order to eat it lol! Would not order this one again.
Burrata with Olive Bagna Cauda
$12.00
castelvetrano olives, garlic, yuzu
-- loved the olives, the cheese was good but basic. nice to have if you have a craving, but pretty easily recreated at home for less without much culinary skills or effort involved.
Non-HH Dinner:
Wood-fired Pizza - The VIP
$25.00
tomato, salametto piccante, 26-month aged gouda, manchego semicurado, grana padano, black truffle honey
-- thin and soft center, interesting combo of flavors. Will try the Mushroom Bianca for a white pie next time.
MAINS:
Prince Edwards Island Mussels
$24.00
house sausage, allium, white wine, cream napa valley batard
-- This was my favorite dish. The broth was so creamy and flavorful, and the mussels were fully cooked without being overdone. I brought leftovers home, put in fridge and lopped off the fat from top to reheat over the stove later with added bone broth for a lighter version for seconds. Flavors still beautiful even next day!
HH DRINKS:
HOUSE COCKTAIL
The Huggy Bear
$13.00
rittenhouse rye, pear purée, brown sugar syrup, walnut bitters
-- just ok, kinda watered down.
handcrafted by our talented SP2 Bar Team
BEER
Off Dry Cider - Traditional / Apfelwein
$6.00
5.8% ABV * N/A IBU * Stem Ciders
-- Good, solid cider.
Service: We were seated at Table 63, perhaps bc wait staff has backs facing us at the central console stand, it was sometimes hard to flag down service but otherwise really kind and prompt.
Enjoyed the value and variety of flavors, would visit again for Happy Hour!
