"What’s the vibe at this place? This spa is lucky enough to be part of the regal Hotel del Coronado, a sprawling resort six miles from downtown Coronado known for its Victorian architecture and iconic red turrets. It's all very Old World grandeur, with chandeliers and expensive products kitting out the reception area. Given how popular this hotel is, expect a bit of a crowd, even at the spa. Take us into the room. How was the session itself? Like any spa, therapists can vary. Despite the constant stream of patrons, they're both efficient and attentive. Nice. What about after the treatment? As over the top as the rest of the hotel may be—on-site ice cream parlor and luxe cabana service, for example—the spa manages to feel small and traditional. Men and women have separate relaxation areas, jacuzzis, and steam rooms, though the private spa pool is co-ed. Best of all, it's mainly outdoors, with lounge chairs and fire pits that overlook the ocean. Talk about relaxation. What do they do best here, then? And how can we make sure we get the most out of it? The menu spans massages (Swedish, hot stone, Thai), a noticeably large selection of facials, and combination treatments like the four-hour, $500 Pampering Paradise, a body scrub, massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure hybrid (and a glass of bubbly, of course). Couples can book a session in the private suite, or spring for a treatment that includes a private beach bonfire." - Archana Ram

For the price it was NOT worth it. We paid close to $800 for a couples massage. They called us earlier that day to ask us to reschedule our appointment without explanation why. The pool is tiny. Could fit 2-3 people comfortably if they want to swim. Jacuzzi is small. There was a pair of women who came together so they monopolized the jacuzzi. The steam room was typical of a steam room. No sauna. Showers are roomy, stocked with body wash shampoo conditioner and shaving gel. Vanity area has lotion, deodorant spray, hair spray, and aloa vera. Toilets are tiny, good luck if you’re mid size or bigger. Massages were mediocre. Pressure was horrid. Lounge had water and tea, with some sort of trail mix and fruit. Locker room is crammed but they had a private changing room Also they told us they did military discounts but they don’t.

My husband and I both had 80 minute deep tissue massages here while staying at the Del. We get regular bodywork and are particular. Both of our massage therapists were spectacular. My therapist was named Elliot. If I lived close by I would be his regular client for sure! The spa amenities were just okay, for the level of spa they are but I could the support staff helpful and was offered champagne and mimosas multiple times.

The Spa is back to operating in its usual space, and with the exception of some occasional pounding from the construction above, it was as relaxing as ever. It was spotless. I had a manicure and pedicure with Anya, who is absolutely terrific. (I had requested her specifically following a great experience last year.) Probably the best of each service I've had. I also had a massage with Marisa, whom I also requested after another great experience last year. She does a terrific job and adjusts pressure and style to suit your needs. It was a pleasure to be back at the Spa.

Emily gave me the best swedish massage I've had in years! She and all the staff were welcoming, professional, and friendly. Had the 80 min massage. Emily really listened to my needs and attended to the places I needed the most work. It was relaxing as well as healing. Highly recommend her! The women's area was very clean with nicely stocked fluffy towels. They provide a good range of amenities for guests to use as well as water and light snacks in the lounge. The steam room was heavenly and Clean as was the hot tub. A little on the pricy side but worth every bit! Can't wait to return!

We used to go to the spa as hotel guests and had good experiences- we then moved to the island part time and I’ll go in to get a massage or just browse their shop. The experience now is a 2 out of 10. The humans behind the desk are as unpleasant as you could ask for. Cold - bored and absolutely unwelcoming.

It’s really frustrating trying to find the right aesthetician. They ask how you feel or how your facial was afterward, but how can you answer when you haven’t even had a chance to look at your face? I go to these somewhat posh places, expecting great service, and then it’s not. I combined a hydrafacial with microdermabrasion, and I think the hydrafacial suffered. I’ve never had microdermabrasion before, so I didn’t know what to expect. It doesn’t look like anything happened. This was my third hydrafacial, but my skin doesn’t look refreshed. They usually take an hour, but this one was done in less time. My forehead actually looks dehydrated. The aesthetician was supposed to do extractions, but there’s still so much left. I even pointed out what I wanted in the beginning. She talked a lot and would stop mid-treatment while talking. It cost $420, including an automatic 20% gratuity. I expected better results.

They need to be transparent with the fact that operations are taking place in a temporary space. I visited the actual spa in 2023 and was impressed but this visit was underwhelming: No spa amenities or even a robe. I was sent on my way after the massage fully oiled up and without the option to shower. Because a guest has to remove clothes in the treatment room, service time is decreased so I didn’t receive a full 80 minutes. The massage was passable but not spectacular despite the joy of chilling in the “relaxation lounge” with a bottle of warm water prior to the service.

I walked in here on a whim with three broken nails, hoping someone could help, but not having any expectations that anyone would be available. Anya saved the day though. She came right up to me, examined my nails, said she could help, and even offered me a glass of champagne. She was extremely sweet the whole time and made me feel so welcome. I’m so grateful to her. Thank you, Anya!

Yelp
Last minute invite by a friend and I decided to give it a go despite my hesitation with the high price point. I had been here pre-Covid, but I had a gift card, so it wasn't too bad. The spa is lovely, with items in the lobby for sale. Once you are checked in, you wait but a few minutes, and you are ushered into the locker rooms. I was assigned a locker, and managing the lock was easy enough. HOWEVER, if you go in and out of the locker, you have to reset the locker code every time. Although I like the fact that I didn't have to worry about carrying a key, resetting the locker code every time was a tad annoying. I did like the fluffy robe provided (no pockets, though). I also appreciated that they gave you spa slippers in your size! Inside the locker, there's a brush, razors, qtips, and a plastic bag to store your wet swimsuit. I snacked in the women's lounge, which had spa water and light snacks. This is the area where you wait when you get called in for your service (just in case you are wondering). The lounge is dead quiet, even with the room completely full. They also have a jacuzzi and a steam room that you can enjoy before or after your treatment. There's also a co-ed pool just for spa guests with food and cocktail service after 12 pm. You can stay until the spa closes or come and go throughout the day. The fact that the amenities are available to you for the whole day is a win for me! I got nonstop mimosas and champagne, and the staff was friendly. The spa felt like you were on vacation, and I felt relaxed all day! For my service I opted for a massage. The deep massage was great, she worked out most of my knots and she used hot stones, which apparently was included! I would definitely come back and relax to treat myself. Parking is free if you self park. Make sure to validate your ticket!

Yelp
Attended a family wedding and booked a blowout & style for my mom and I with Peter. This was one of the highlights of my trip! He was amazingly talented and so fun to talk to. He offered me champagne and did an absolutely rock star job. I asked for "Hollywood glam" and he did not disappoint. Mom was thrilled as well "volume for days" she said. I will hopefully be back someday.

Yelp
Received the swedish massage with hot stones. Recommend the hot stone enhancement. It was amazing! Jennifer provided great service! Love that the Spa at the Del accepts SpaFinder gift cards. Only drawback was that the spa was in a temporary facility. No salon services available, pool or hot tub, or a relaxing waiting area, as is the case at the permanent spa . However, the Spa did provide access to the Shorehouse pool and hot tub facilities which were relaxing.

Yelp
I visited with a friend for prenatal massages. The spa is in a great location and you get access to a beautiful spa pool. However, we were both disappointed that at this price point ($210 + tip for 50 min) they were not fair with the time. We booked 11 am massages but by the time the massage actually started, between the long walk to the room, explanation of the products and how to lay on the bed etc, it was at least 11:10, yet they ended the massage on the dot at 11:50. At this price point, I would have expected them to be fair with the time and factored in a bit of cushion for the pre-massage process like most high end spas do.

Yelp
I'm not the type of person to luxuriate at a spa, nor even to get my nails done. But once a year, while staying on Coronado Island for a week, I get my nails done at The Del. The first manicure I had done there was by Anna, and I request her, Anna is wonderful-- I love chatting with her, and she does an amazing manicure. This most recent was a gel manicure and stayed beautiful for weeks. The atmosphere is very relaxing, particularly when allowed to lounge by the pool with a glass of champagne. The front desk staff are great. Have only had positive experiences here and I highly recommend it.

Alyssa S.

Yelp
One last hurrah here before the spa closes for three months for a refresh. Anesia is wonderful as always, and Alejandra was exceptionally kind as usual in helping us move some times around. They're also running a 40% off sale of all Products before they close the spa For the renovation. While the spa is closed they are going to have deeply discounted treatments in a hotel suite (treatment only, no spa areas). I'll be very happy when they open this back again!

Carole A.

Yelp
Front desk and massage therapist were super welcoming and professional. The set up with shower, locker, resting room, everything felt safe, luxurious and nice! I got a 80 mn voyager aromatherapy treatment as a birthday gift so I took a day off to treat my self! I especially enjoyed feet, hands and scalp massage. I got a special conditioner treatment for my hair that you need to take off after treatment in the shower, loved the Eucalyptus mist in there! As I had to wait 10 mn for the treatment to start I got hot stones as a complimentary gift, very nice;-) Very pricey session for a well deserved treat, was surprised to not being able to choose the tip, you got to pay what they ask you to...

Yelp
From waking in and having such friendly staff from front desk to the tour that was given to us I knew this was going to be good! I was fortunate to have been paired with Derek and he was incredible !!! Hands down (no pun intended) gave me the best deep tissue massage of my life. I was very lucky to get paired up with him and he was so professional and friendly and walked me through everything he was doing. He asked me where my points of pain were and he worked solely on those points. Made food use of the sauna, jacuzzi and outdoor pool before and afterwards. Derek is my new favorite and I will be booking with him again very soon! Thank you Derek!!!

Yelp
One is paying for the location. The service is okay and friendly. Parking is available.

Yelp
My Boyfriend booked a couples massage and planned a day for us at the spa for my birthday. The staff failed to let him know that they only had one coed amenity and that was the pool that wasn't heated so no one could use it. For the price and what we got it definitely wasn't worth it. I called the spa three times and each time they said they would send an email with a day pass for our inconvenience, we have yet to receive that. I expected a better experience and better customer service from the Del.

Yelp
The greeters or people at the counter were clearly annoyed that I arrived at 8:30am - as directed by the person at the Del who my wife made the appointment with. They said they open at nine... I tried to explain I was simply following orders, but all I got was "you can wait here" meaning the lobby-type area ...with the people who were annoyed. I told them I'd be back. For the price my wife paid I expected more of a red carpet treatment from the start - that did not happen. The massage was the highlight. The rest of it... not worth the price at all, in any way shape or form. The Del overall is a great place - just need to focus on the spa next I guess.

Yelp
Even worse thanks to Hyatt. There are very few amenities, no steam room, no drinks/snacks/blankets or magazines in the relaxation room. You get one rough, old nasty towel and a cheap Costco bottle of water in your locker and one glass of cheap champagne. The shower had disgusting clumps of hair in it. There's no service at the pool, you're expected to go out and get anything you want yourself. But of course it's overbooked, so there aren't enough chairs at the pool despite cramming in as many as possible so you're on top of your neighbor. But the treatments are full price! $350 for a half ass massage; my therapist was just phoning in it for sure. Only some of the staff wore masks. Required 20% gratuity though, and I was asked if I thought 20% was sufficient! Lol! Locals, visit one of the many other amazing spas in town and avoid the Del.

Yelp
The overall experience is totally worth five stars. There's no denying that the services offered at this spa are pricey, which really if you have traveled to fabulous hotels and got services in their spa it's 100% to be expected. I received a facial and it was really really nice and calming. My lady gave me what felt like pressure points and a massage on my face after my treatment and it was lovely and like a facial I ever had. The real beauty of the spa and the services is the amenities. They have beautiful locker rooms, whirlpool and steam room. But the best part is getting your own private pool with our spa guests. It can be tricky finding a chair which can be annoying but having your own relaxing pool without kids screaming was fantastic. The view faces the ocean and they serve complimentary champagne. I will definitely be back.

P S.

Yelp
The spa was not as nice as I would expect from the Del. The relaxation room was not comfortable at all: pleather skin toned lounges that were so old the cushioning was gone. They should have been replaced years ago. Not a place you want to relax. There were only 2 small bathroom stalls, didn't expect to wait in line at a spa. The people are nice & efficient although the locker room attendant hovered waiting for our robes and sandals when we were leaving. The robes were very worn and fraying. A couple was full on making out in the spa pool which grossed us out too. The pool was not heated. The facial I had was pricy but nice and the massage my friend got was nice. Overall we were disappointed, expected much more.

Ashley W.

Yelp
To be very honest the location is the best selling point of the spa and that is being said with a grain of salt. Super disappointed in a few things: it doesn't feel good to be the only one in the spa not offered a welcome beverage. I finally offered to pay for a welcome beverage and then magically was told they're free and offered upon arrival, cool so why not for me ? I can appreciate celebrating life events at the spa but be mindful of everyone else. The spa literally let a party scream and make a fool without saying a word. The facility is ok; they're doing construction around the resort so be mindful of that. The past two times I've gone the steam room/hot tub was broken down(spoiler they do nothing and if you bring it up could care less). A little frustrating with my facial, please ask if the client would like sunblock or not. If I'm getting a facial late in the day my goal is to keep product on as long as possible, everyone knows sunblock forces you to wash so be mindful for your guests. Not worth the money, customer service is garbage with the receptionist.

Yelp
I scheduled an afternoon of spa services for my wife on her birthday and this is my feedback for these services: Positive: 1) The Sea Salt Stone Massage was excellent. 2) The Organic Purifying Facial was excellent. Negative: 1) The Spa & Salon at The Del offers no military discount. This is inexcusable from an expensive, high-end operation in a town completely surrounded by military facilities. 2) The technician who completed the Gel Manicure and Gel Pedicure was void of personality and people skills. 3) When I scheduled the gel manicure and pedicure, there was no mention of an additional fee ($25) to remove existing gel coatings. I have multiple problems with that: 1) there is no mention of such a fee in the Spa's fee schedule; 2) they sprung the fee on my wife (on her birthday) in the middle of her session; and 3) if a salon is applying gel coatings, they should be aware that the client prefers gel coatings and should include that cost in their "not cheap" pricing. I called the Spa after her services were complete and they told me that the gel removal fee was their standard practice. I made the arguments (above) but they refused to reconsider the charge. This was a $700 afternoon and to nickel-and-dime me for another $25 was classless. Despite the positive massage and facial services that my wife received, the $25 charge (and the response I received when I complained about this charge) will preclude the possibility of ever going to the Spa & Salon at The Del ever again.

Yelp
I go between a three and a four. The pros: - you are able to actually hang out for the day. There is a relaxation room with comfortable couches, another area with a hot tub, and a pool. -shower area was well appointed -robes with pockets to hold your cell -quiet spa -no key to carry around -private spa pool -my massage was good but more later. Cons: -they were very nice to order food for me. It is not something they just do and originally they told me I had to go out and get food. I ordered a salad. They asked if I wanted chicken or shrimp. I get the food in a to go box with wilted greens and a few pieces of chicken. The chicken cost me $8 extra and the salad was in the high twenties. Ridiculous. It would have been nice to have a spa menu with actual plates and silverware, considering there are several restaurants around it. -the pool view or should I say the lack of a view. I was excited to sit down and have a perfect view of the ocean. Instead, as you can see in the photos, they decided to put a coating on the glass. So if you sit in the chairs, you look at frosted glass. I'm not sure who made that decision. Maybe the spa guests complained that too many people were walking by and it wasn't private enough? It's a pool, not a naked sauna. -my service was excellent as I mentioned. When I called to schedule, I noticed that on the website there was a special giving a free 25 min enhancement if you booked an 80 minute massage. The attendant on the phone didn't know what I meant so I told her to go online. I was all booked or so I thought for an 80 minute massage and a 25 minute cryofacial massage. She asked what I liked and I mentioned that every massage therapist spends 80% of the time on my back and that I enjoyed the face, scalp, hair, gluten, hands, feet, etc more. She talked me into a scalp treatment. The massage was good but she didn't listen. She spent 80% of the time on my back and definitely not 25 minutes on my face. There was barely any of the scalp treatment noticeable in my hair. And I noticed that the time wasn't correct. She had done a sixty minute with 25 min enhancement. I spent the day there and when I was settling up I mentioned what had happened. Thankfully they were more than happy to right the wrong even though that special had been taken down. In the end because of how the ladies up front handled themselves, I would recommend the spa. As long as you know lunch will be either expensive and piss poor or nonexistent and that if you actually sit by the pool on its edge, you can partake in that gorgeous view. I appreciate a spa you can relax in and that's how I felt here.

Yelp
Lovely atmosphere! Great service. I wish I had known ahead of time about the Spa Pool Terrace, it looked SO INVITING! We will be back!

Yelp
Before going to the Del I read reviews on what it is like there this time of the year. I was trying to prepare mentally. Reviews are accurate.... the place is bustling, but in a good way, and I hope my review will help you a little in making the most of your trip to the Spa at The Del. Our kids gifted us a spa day for Christmas this year. What an amazing gift. It's called S'MORES COUPLES PACKAGE. Totally the way to go! We arrived at 10:45 for a 12:00 treatment. Plan on arriving early to take advantage of all the spa has to offer. Men and women have separate areas - the only combined area is the private pool area. I used the steam room and whirlpool jacuzzi before my treatment. Massage itself was "adequate." I wasn't over the moon with the treatment but I feel that I got my money's worth. I went back and got ready (facility has a nice, well stocked area to do your hair / make up) and met my sweetheart outside. Here is where the helpful tip comes in. Parking at the Del is very expensive. Our treatment was at noon but the s'more / fire pit part wasn't until 6:10 pm. The Spa gives you 8 hrs of free parking! There is a lot to see and do around the hotel - all within walking distance. We walked across the street to eat at Miguel's .... one of our SD favorite Mexican food restaurants. We grabbed coffee and ice cream. Around 5:00 pm the hotel grounds were packed and there was no place to sit and relax so what did we do? We went back to the spa and sat around a fire pit all to ourselves and watched the sunset and the ice skaters! Score!!!! An hour later we went to the beach and enjoyed a wood burning fire pit, s'mores, and champagne all prepared for us. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
I had the hot stone massage yesterday and absolutely loved it! Its usually full body and but asked to concentrate on my back and shoulders. For the massage its 5 stars. However i was disappointed with the facility. It had a sauna, jacuzzi, infinity pool outside but the sea gulls were swimming in it . Their restoration room is the quiet room but it was so bright in there. I was still able to relax in there while waiting for my massage. The people there are very kind. The area is clean despite the seagulls in the pool. I do plan returning on my next visit to sd and take my mom. Overall 3.5 stars for the whole experience as I expected more with their prices. But again the massage was amazing!

Yelp
This place was ok to ehh. My husband had a conference at the Del Coronado so I decided to tag along and relax. I booked a 10:30am appointment on 10/13/2014. We just flew into SD (from SJ) that morning and when I arrived the front desk and esthetician were a bit annoyed. They said I was late but I informed them I booked at 10:30am online, they said well you cannot book 10:30 it would have to be 10am so you are late. Then they just changed the subject and the facial lady said do you want to change into a robe or just go straight to the facial... I said ummm I don't mind since they made me feel bad for "being late" (even if I booked 10:30am online). The lady had a bit of an attitude but tried hard not to show it... Anyhow the facial was ok, I like honesty and she attempted to start extracting but I had nothing to extract. Anyway I should of booked a massage. People go to a Spa to relax and they made the whole experience a bit stressful and blamed the customer for being late... Plus the spa is small...

Yelp
Took a recent mental health day and enjoyed 2 spectacular treatments at the newly remodeled / updated Spa at the Hotel Del Coronado. The facilities were impeccably clean and comfortable. The dressing gowns and towels were all very luxurious !! The treatment rooms featured warmed beds / bedding and multiple adjustment heights so that I was very comfortable from head to toe for both treatments. Although due to COVID the hot tub and sauna were still closed, I was able to lay out by the private heated pool between treatments - which was awesome. The glass partitions around the pool kept out the breeze, the lounge chairs and umbrellas were perfect. For treatments I had the warm stone massage with Jennilyn - and the Restorative Ocean Facial with Kaelyn. Both technicians and services with 5+ stars - very professional, I am 100% happy and will return ASAP. Although a bit on the expensive side, it was worth the really luxurious experience - including the private pool area and quality service.

Yelp
Why are these reviews so bad?? I almost let these negative reviews deter me from going to this spa and I'm SO HAPPY I didn't. My sister and I were planning a spa day and came to the spa at the Del. Overall the experience was WONDERFUL. The spa itself was clean, organized and had wonderful products. There are private showers as well as a jacuzzi and steam room. They also have complimentary healthy snacks (nuts/apples/dark chocolate) and hot teas available. The staff was friendly and attentive. Spa guests have access to a private pool (it's so quiet and serene) and you can order food poolside. We got a pizza, chips and guacamole and cocktails- all were delicious. Our spa services were wonderful! We both got massages and my sister got a pedicure in addition. The services are a bit pricey, but the amenities certainly helped add value to the experience. In our experience, the negative reviews on here were not at all representative of our experience. We would definitely recommend this spa.

Yelp
This place is amazing!! Went here for my birthday wknd & wow it's beautiful!! Very relaxing atmosphere & the staff are awesome. Very clean & spacious, will definitely be back.

Wendy L.

Yelp
What you're paying for at the Spa at the Del is access to their facilities which include a relatively serene and relaxing environment among the hustle and bustle of the busy Hotel del Coronado. There is a small lap pool which is enclosed by plexiglass windows so you can still enjoy the view of the beach while still having some wind protection. There are only a limited number of lounge chairs but given that most people aren't spending all day there, they weren't very full. There's a jacuzzi, steam room and fully-equipped shower facilities. Service was too-notch, especially the ladies at the check-in desk and helping to stock the facilities. I would note that my masseuse was pretty chatty (at least for the first 10 min until she got the hint that I generally like a quiet massage) which was surprising as I would generally think quiet is the default. At $175 for a 60 minute massage (with an automatic 20% gratuity), this is on the pricey side. If you're staying at the hotel this may not be worth it since you already have access to the hotel's facilities but you only have access to the spa facilities if you booked treatments. The spa opens at 8:30 and when you have treatments booked, you have full use of the facilities all day with in and out privileges.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place Spa, one of my favorite in San Diego! I have had the Swedish massage here a couple of times and it's always extremely relaxing, the staff here really goes the extra mile to make it an experience for you. I came today for my birthday and I tried out the couples massage with my husband, very first time here and it was just amazing! Thank you Kim! I am absolutely coming back for more!!! They have a wet sauna, jacuzzi, showers and a pool you can take advantage of all day. During the summer (when the weather is a tad bit warmer than now) the pool area has great food and an amazing view of the ocean. It's definitely not cheap or a good deal by any means but it's worth it!

Danuza K.

Yelp
The hotel Del Spa used to be my favorite spa. Massage, the ocean... Perfect! I always asked my husband to give me gift cards on special occasions. Unfortunately the prices went up and the services quality went way down. Last time I was at the spa I didn't enjoy the massage. The massage therapist was about 15 minutes late (she did give me the full time) and she spent way too much time not touching my body. Her pressure was very light and I felt she didn't want to be massaging me :( I was uncomfortable almost the whole time. I arrived at the spa couple hours before my treatment to relax and enjoy the facilities and the spa attendant looked at me and said: "you are here for a long time". So rude.

K G.

Yelp
5 stars for my massage by Derek! He was super professional and did great work! The spa could definitely use some updating especially for what they charge for services though. I had the unfortunate experience of an obnoxiously LOUD lady in the relaxation area & lockers/shower area that would not shut up. Perhaps the spa could place "ssshhhhh" or "please be quiet" signs throughout the facility if they won't encourage "spa etiquette" to the obnoxious guest. If you want to be loud and get a massage... go to a state fair and sit in a massage chair.

Jazmin R.

Yelp
One would think that a place like the Del would make sure to keep up appearances. The jacuzzi area smelled like mildew along with the steam room. They both were barely even lukewarm and both were musty and moldy. The only thing that was great was the fabulous massage I received from Jennilee. She is a healer. I would definitely recommend her. She was definitely worth it. I would recommend that the Del really upgrade their spa to accommodate the price and experience. I expected so much more from a prestigious hotel. I do understand the hotel was built in 1888, but the Spa doesn't have to reflect it's age.

Yelp
DOWNHILL! MOLD EVERYWHERE!! We have been a few times before and it's been nice. It's been a while since our last trip and it looks like it's been that long since it's been cleaned! Mold everywhere!!! Holes in the furniture, walls and woodwork so dirty it was disgusting. The men's jacuzzi had a ring of mold almost the whole way around it. Got out of there as soon as we could. The massage itself was average at best. I've had a lot better for a lot less!! I'd stay away for a while... It needs a full remodel.

Yelp
Went here for a girls getaway spa day. We all came to the same conclusion...overpriced for the experience you get, mediocre customer service at the front desk, lacking amenities. There is no food service at the pool so don't go to the spa hungry. The relaxation room only has 6 lounge chairs so don't go in a large group. Don't bring SpaWish giftcards because we were told they only accept SpaFinder. Don't go by the prices posted on the website because we were overcharged $10 for each service. If you want an excellent spa experience in the San Diego area, I would recommend going to the spa at the Omni in La Costa. Well worth the drive.

Yelp
Not worth the price. I was so let down to have such a mediocre experience. When we arrived they could not find our reservation which was a shock for me especially since I even left a credit card on file. I tried to look past that and continue to enjoy my experience. My husband and I were getting a couples massage for our anniversary. As we walked to our room when we opened the door we actually opened the door on another client who was already in that room. Very confusing they had the other client switch rooms , I found this to be completely unprofessional as our massage was $370. As for my massage, probably the worst massage I received in my life. Half the time I did not know where my masseuse was. Literally out of the 50 minutes I think he massages me for 20. Very disappointing and a big let down. Would not recommend.

Yelp
After a long few weeks at work my wife needed to unwind. We love the Del, so we figured we should try out the spa for a little RnR. First, making the reservation was a breeze. Friendly staff greeted us when we checked in and made us feel at home. The facilities were very clean and comfortable. The steam room was incredible! My wife really enjoyed her massage and was exactly what she needed. After her massage we lounged at the pool and enjoyed the rest of the day. The only problem we had was try to get a drink at the pool! Obviously this wasn't a deal breaker, but we had to leave the pool area and walk halfway across the resort to buy a drink. I will say, there was a large catered party at the spa so they were very busy. Other than that, it's a beautiful resort, and we loved our day at the spa.

Yelp
The rating and information provided is not based on any spa services. It is only based on the cleanliness and condition of the Men's Sauna facility, and offerings. Spa Type: European/Resort Admission: - $55 (Day Pass/Guests & Non-Hotel Guests) - Free with any service Vanities (3) - Stocked with standard essentials, 2 with sinks. Showers (3) - All stocked with Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash - 1 Handicapped Saunas (1) - Wet/Steam Pools (1) - Warm (Jacuzzi)(101°F) Lounge: 7 chairs and 2 Recliners in a good sized room with a TV. Overall Impression: Standard Hotel Spa in both size and amenities - Small and a little cramped, but nicely kept. $55 seems reasonable for non-hotel guests, but way too much to ask of someone staying at the hotel. Especially for what they have to offer in the way of facilities.

Yelp
An afternoon of luxury to be sure. For a couple hours we felt like rich people being pampered and massaged. The following is a narrative of sorts about our specific experience. We got a 50 minute couples' massage, but there are several other options to choose from. The staff is almost painfully courteous, willing to guide you and answer any questions you have. Couples are split up at the front, men to the left and women to the right. The men's "locker room" was something out of a lavish executive's club. All marble, tile and granite walls and floors, cushy benches, lockers with wood-finished doors and digital keypad locking. You're given sandals in your shoe size which are quite comfortable (the single horizontal strap type, with little knobs to massage the bottoms of your feet) along with a full size robe. A whirlwind tour of the male-only section of the spa includes the aforementioned locker room, a full bathroom with shaving amenities and other toiletries, four showers (one jumbo-sized for disabled access), a jacuzzi kept between 102F and 104F, a wet steam room and a relaxation room with cushy chairs, footrests, newspapers, fruit and water. After lounging about in this area until your scheduled couples' massage you're called from the relaxation room by a masseur who has your other half and a masseuse waiting in a hallway. You're led down a series of corridors for what seems like ten minutes before you reach a dark and comfortable room with two massage tables side by side. The masseurs step out of the room while you and your other are left to disrobe and lie on your respective table under the sheet. The massage lasts 50 minutes (there are other options) and includes your choice of scented lotion, relaxing music (pianos and ocean waves) and more than a few ecstatic moments when your masseuse hits just the right spot. After your massage you're given a chance to re-robe and follow the masseur back to the front where you split off again into the gender-segregated sections. You (as a couple) should agree to allow one another a certain amount of time to decompress, steam, shower, soak and otherwise indulge before meeting back out in the lobby. Forty-five minutes worked well for us. I took advantage of the showers on multiple occasions, the steam room, the hot tub, the relaxation room with fruit and of course the locker room. I highly recommend the experience to anyone and will certainly be looking to return in the near future.

Yelp
I don't recommend this spa for the price, I would rather spend my money at the Hilton in downtown by the harbor. The prenatal massage was all over the place, the lady was sweet but I'm paying for a relaxing massage not to talk during it. Next the bathroom area was messy and all the showers were all out of the relaxing mist. Nothing compared to the prenatal massages I have gotten from the Hilton and other places. I was very disappointed since I love going to spas for the smells and oils they use in the room and they didn't even ask us or use any good smelling oils.

Yelp
Hotel spas can be hit or miss. This particular spa is a combination of both hit and miss. Misses (in no particular order): 1. Spa lobby is crammed full of clothing (and awful, overpriced clothing at that). Take a few racks out. 2. For a spa at a hotel where you can technically spend several hours enjoying treatments, hot bath, steam room, pool... they offer no food. Reason? We were told bird problem. Given the other restaurants outside within a stones throw - this makes no sense. But when lounging outside during a spa day, some food options should be made available and would improve my impression of a spa at the world famous Hotel Del. Also, we didn't see any birds. Offer a light menu, you are a part of a hotel. 3. As is the case with the entire Hotel Del, carpeting is disgusting. Please clean the stain on the carpet directly outside the quiet lounge area for men. 4. Music. The music piped in around the spa tends to sound like suspenseful elevator music. In the treatment room, my therapist changed the channel to a very typical pan flute style. Since the music was looped - it is kind of annoying. Update music for the 21st century spa experience and have ipod docks for therapists to select music for their individual clients. Hits (no particular order): 1. Nice enough staff. 2. Locals pricing on services. 3. Comfortable massage tables. 4. Validated parking for 8 hours. Neither Hit nor Miss: 1. Massage itself. I get a massage every other week. While I generally go to the same therapist, I have seen therapists across Southern California, Nevada, Mexico and even St. Lucia. This doesn't make me an expert, per se, but it does allow me to offer this insight - as noted by other reviews, the therapists are only okay. My deep tissue was fair, not awful nor great. If you calculate price into the quality of the service, the service was a step below fair. Frankly, at their prices, I expect more. The ambiance surely doesn't justify the double the average cost for a massage. 2. Facilities. The pool is small. The seating around the pool is cramped. The showers, steam room, etc, are displaying a bit of wear. Nothing was neither a deal maker or breaker, though. 3. An unusually disproportionate share of unattractive, overweight people getting services. Obviously, this is no fault of the spa - but DAMN. My wife and I walked away from our experience at this spa rather unimpressed. We weren't outrageously disappointed - but we would not recommend the del nor would we consider returning and that is unfortunate given the location of the spa. cheers.

Yelp
First with the good: I liked the ambiance and the facilities. They were comparable to other day spas I've been to- a little small perhaps but that did not bother me. I especially liked the pool outside where it was very peaceful to lounge and look at the beautiful scenery. I also took advantage of the special Wednesday rates (thanks to Yelp!) and that's a great bargain. So, what's not to like? Strangely enough, my massage was not good. I get a massage every couple of months so I've had my share and this was actually one of the worst I've ever had. At the beginning my therapist asked if there were any areas to pay attention to and I said to please concentrate on my shoulders. The masseuse then proceeded to ignore them. When the massage was almost over I had to ask him to go back and please spend some time on my shoulders. Who gives a massage and forgets the shoulders!? And if any readers are wondering whether perhaps I confused him and he thought to avoid the area I discussed, I was absolutely clear. I actually got the impression that he forgot many times during the course of the massage what he was doing - kept repeating the same move and stopping. my recommendation is to get recommendations on specific therapists before going here. Finally, one very weird thing of note. After I was checked in and waiting for someone to bring me back to the locker room and such the front desk person began to clip her fingernails in front of me. I was appalled. It seems to me that the issues I experienced could probably be fixed with better management.

Yelp
I had an amazing spa day here! The grounds of the hotel are beautiful and definitely worth visiting with so much to do. The spa is just as exceptional. I booked a massage and it was so relaxing. There are toiletries available and a jacuzzi to soak in. Spa water and fresh fruit is readily available giving you the full spa experience. The staff was friendly too which is always a plus! If you are ever in the SD area I recommend booking an appointment at the Spat at The Del!

Yelp
I must admit I am biased. For a FANfuckingTASTIC spa experience, I recommend The Boulders in Scottsdale. So, I got a gift certificate for my birthday to the Spa at the Del... Hard to complain about that kind of gift. And, I must admit the massage itself was one of the BEST EVER! But, since I am reviewing the entire experience, I can only give tres *'s. Smallish spa. They have an outdoor pool area, which faces west and is only for the spa guests. The dressing area is a little small. Had to ask for a brush/comb (from which they fetched a comb from the male locker room, new of course). The jacuzzi was luke warm, though nice mosaic tiles on the walls. The "steam room" on the other hand wasn't hot enough, barely warm, in fact. Once again, I have been forever spoiled by a spa that has both a dry sauna and a steam room (The Boulders). While my other half was getting her act together, I went in search of a glass of wine for her. I checked with the attendant up front and he politely told me that if I was going to bring in some vino, it had to be in a paper or plastic cup! Now, I understand no glass around the pool, etc..., but after spending $450.00 on services, c'mon! That was the greatest insult to the $18.00 glass o' vino... Would I return? If someone else paid for it, fo' shore. But not on my dime.

Yelp
My sister bought me a "spa day" for my birthday, and it was the best mani/pedi experience I've ever had! I got there and my technician was so sweet and friendly. I was given champagne and was pampered head-to-toe. If I didn't live in Virginia, I would only go here!

Yelp
I went there for spa week for a lomi lomi massage. The Spa staff is efficient in checking in, tour and clean up . The steam room need "HUGE" improvement, it is not hot, not enough steam and you can wait forever and stll no steam. The pool is small and not very comfortable. The jacuzzi is ok. The massge it self is ok. So in general is ok especailly for spa week price. If I have to pay full, price, then I think I will take another star away. So far, only spa at La Costa is up to par in San Diego.

Yelp
I had the luxury of receiving a spa treatment at Spa at the Del in Coronado, San Diego and have to say it was the best massage I have ever received! I chose the 80 minute hot stone massage, which caused my muscles to feel so good and relaxed. They were so attentive with no rushed movements. Before or after your services, you have full day access to the steam room, jacuzzi, and pool. Does it get much better than that?? This location would be a great gift or a treat to yourself!

Yelp
I may have just had the best massage of my life. I get a massage about once a month, but the Sweedish Massage I got as 1/2 of our 50 minute couple's massage was incredible. The right amount of pressure, the right amount of talking, the extra attention to problem areas without skimping elsewhere. Dreamy. Also loved the facilities. Loved the sitting area, the female-only hot tub, the key less lockers and the ample sunlight in the lounge area. It's a bit cheesy, but I also liked the heart made out of rose petals outside our massage room. Agree with the previous reviewers about the reception area being a little cluttered, the exorbitant prices (a theme at the Del, even for someone who doesn't mind paying good money for good things) and the lack of food options, but the balance of my experience was good.

Yelp
I love reading these reviews: FOR A WORLD-CLASS AND LUXURY SPA TO OFFER YOU A DEAL DURING SPA WEEK - that's very rare. You can expect something a little more elaborate and timely when you're not in an assembly line for BODY SCRUBS or LOMI LOMI MASSAGES, and believe you me... there were body scrubs and lomi lomis galore during Spa Week. A fifty-minute service for fifty bucks? That's a perfect steal, especially at this spa in particular. It's the Spa at the Del - I can see why one would expect so much for so little from an establishment such as this. The best thing to do is to go in and experience a truly luxurious service for yourself. As far as the treatments offered, poo-poo on the lomi lomi if you're looking to be fantastically manipulated. Don't get it. To anyone well-versed in massage the lomi lomi is long, soothing, and rhythmic strokes; it is not for anyone who likes to be bludgeoned, smashed, pinched, and kneaded (and I'm sure that those who gave reviews on the lomi lomi are as kneady as I am). My personal favorite is the classic sports massage, and I do love to be folded like origami. My massage therapist was knowledgeable and skilled; her touch was intuitive and I enjoyed every little moment. I then proceeded to a fifty-minute facial where my skin was left feeling thoroughly clean and hydrated. I expected for my aesthetician to be novice but I was pleasantly surprised with how confident she was in her technique (I must admit that I think my aesthetician is either lying to me or she has a great surgeon, because she swears she is over thirty... and she looks so much younger). I happily left with a bunch of great products and a few more discount cards for next time. Should you visit the spa, try out the $99 days: Tuesdays and Wednesdays; these are for both locals and hotel guests! Visit the Spa at the Del's website to look up packages and treatments offered, or if you're local - just visit and ask for a tour of the spa. The level of service is outstanding and you can expect to be pampered without any compromise. The jacuzzi and steam room are heaven and the view out by the pool? It's gorgeous.

Yelp
Booked several weeks in advance for the $405 spa day. Included three 50 minute services. They were helpful in booking the treatments and the times 9:00, 1:00, 3:00. Confirmed the date and times and treatments Thursday before. Got there. Times all screwed up. One treatment was wrong. Corrected times. Good to go. When it came time for the 3;00 and 4:00, they claimed we did not agree to the times and they sold the slot to someone else. LIED to our face!!!!!

Yelp
I came to this spa with a group of friends. I'm not sure about pricing since my friends were treating but they did mention being able to get a discount for the massage by purchasing the Spa deal sold at Costco. We all received an hour long massage. I really enjoyed the Swedish massage I had and liked that the massage table was heated. I get cold easily and this was a special treat for me. The room was also very nice and comfortable. After everyone's massage, we had some time to enjoy the warm jacuzzi especially since it was a cold day outside. I liked how they had someone making sure the towels and items in the bathroom remained well stocked. I didn't get a chance to try out the pool with the fire pit since we were on a time constraint, but I will be sure to check it out the next time I'm back.

Yelp
Five stars for my massage with Ashley. She was amazing. One of the best massages I've had ever. I had the Del signature 50min. Totally worth it. She feels experienced and worked out the giant knot in my shoulder. The spa itself is a 4star I'd say. It's a classic spa with a outdoor pool (with no privacy) , steam room, small pretty indoor jacuzzi. relaxation room, small locker and getting ready area with limited items. I would of liked to see a grander spa but I guess it's an older hotel so limited space for things. Also the location of the spa is out and back. Just follow the signs. Reception area was pretty friendly too.

Yelp
Let me prefix this by saying that I am reviewing the spa and NOT the massage. The massage was amazing!!!!! For those of you that have been to Burke Williams, this is set up in pretty much the same style. - Pros's: I like the electronic lock on the lockers. Con's: 1. Jacuzzi was not hot enough. It should be a lot hotter or there's no point in going into one. 2. Their showers had drainage problems (I used 2 different showers) and the water was not hot enough for those who likes really hot showers like myself. 3. The towels and robes are thin and not fluffy and soft like at other spas. 4. They don't offer a huge variety of personal care products like other spas. They only provide essentials like shampoo, conditioner, hair stray, body lotion, etc. Over all, for the amount of money they charge it is not worth it because other spas give more and charge less and the massage is just as good. hope this help a little.

Yelp
Wednesday $99 special! Yup, that's what makes this a 4 star experience. My swedish massage was by Carolyn, and she was amazing. The only downside was that it was over entirely too quickly. The front desk staff was very nice and efficient. I always saw someone stocking towels, picking up cups and towels, and making it a generally well kept spa. Why not 5 stars then? First...the spa does validate parking...but only for 3 hours. Why would you only stay for 3 hours? Well, we stayed longer thinking we were good to go with parking, but were charged $15 for the extra hour we stayed. Good lord! We should've just valeted for that price. The space is a little tight. The dressing room is fairly small and if there is just one more person changing in the same section as you, well, you pretty much have to wait. It's very tight. The bath amenities were fairly cheap. They sell some very nice products at the front of the store, but in the showers and the vanity area, the products were different and not very good. I skipped using the hair products and lotions. You might be better off using your own. Otherwise, the fire pit by the pool was a nice touch. The lounge chairs were so comfy, I could've slept for hours. The pool looked great, but it was chilly out, so we only enjoyed the view. Definitely worth the $99 special. Now, full price, that's another story. The massages normally run $155 for a 50 min, and $160 for a facial. That may be a bit much for what you actually get. But, the special (without the parking) is quite the deal.
