Spacebar is a slightly nerdy dive bar and I love it. Grilled cheese any way you like it, loaded tater tots and beer....what more could you want? The space is a little small, but they maximize seating at both tables and the bar. It is a seat yourself kind of place. My husband and I grabbed the last available booth and found food and beverage menus already placed at the table. We ordered a couple beers and loaded tater tots with mojo spiced pulled pork. I enjoyed the tropical sour ale called Bel Air, by Brooklyn. My husband enjoyed the Alesmith Speedway imperial coffee stout. I'm not usually all about imperial stouts, but that one was tasty. We also ordered a #2 regular grilled cheese with pulled bbq and a Philly cheese steak sandwich. Both were delicous. The vibe is very casual and the staff were friendly. They have fairly diverse food and beer options. I'd definitely come back. Thanks for a great experience!

This is a cute dive bar in Falls Church, VA. They have an eclectic feel, which tracks their theme. They serve sandwiches (grilled cheese with various meats) tomato soup and tots ( with various toppings.). The tots are always fresh and crispy the two times I've been here. Once I had the Reuben and the other time, the tomato soup and "totchos". All the food was delicious and went down well with their local micro brews. So happy to visit here and if I pass through town again, I would come back.

Very detailed and diverse beer selection and for prolific and small beer drinkers. I personally enjoy prefer gluten free ciders and they even had that. Their food is sandwiches or tater tots with a huge amount. I don’t drink beer much so I won’t go often but I wouldn’t turn down an invitation

This was a place we had driven past a few times since we moved to the area a few months ago and have always been intrigued by. We’re glad we finally went because it was a fun time. The staff were all very friendly, the food was incredibly tasty, fresh, and quick to come out, and the number of options for food and beverages they had was great. Essentially everything on the menu had options for vegetarian and vegan protein and dairy, so us being vegetarian we really appreciated that as well. And if you can remember to bring some quarters you can even play some pinball at the machine they’ve got.

The spot is absolutely fantastic, perfectly located with some free parking spaces to make your visit even more convenient. The music? It’s a wonderfully curated playlist that keeps you in the best mood. The food? Oh, it’s more than words can describe every bite is pure perfection. And now, let’s talk about Andrew, wow, where do I even begin? This guy is simply incredible. He goes above and beyond in everything he does and his warm welcome and outstanding service are truly beyond words.

Tried this place for HH (happy hour), they don’t have it. :( Went ahead and tried the totchos #1, not that bad. Also had the cheesesteak. If you love cheese this place is for you. Place was a bit small and play black and white films something different.

Grilled Cheese was delicious! Bartender was very helpful with beer selection. Won't hold this against them, be sure to check website, not kid friendly, must be 21+, to enter.

I went here with friends and had some really yummy tachos and cheese steak! The service was great and I very much liked the music selection. I will definitely have to bring my partner here in the future as they have lots of yummy vegan options. Just to note they don't do cocktails but have a few wine options and a seltzer if you are not into beer or cider.

Nothing to say but the nicest things. Best vibe, delish food, and best employees. The guys that work here are genuinely nice and we always love coming here for beer, tots, and sandwiches. Music and movies also add to the positive atmosphere!

5 Stars. Spacebar has its own vibe...like outerspace!! I've heard about this place for years and heard about the grilled cheese, beer and tater tots. We decided to check it out!! This place is unique, one of a kind and cozy vibes. Plenty of beer varieties on tap and canned from hoppy, sours, cider, malty and lighter options. I checked out the menu and order a hard cider and the Cuban grilled sandwich. I knew things were going great when the Chef said...this is my favorite to make! Hot damn!! The sandwich was so yummy. I wanted to eat it all, but I decided to take half home...I'll eat the other half for lunch, lol. The menu is pure comfort food. Staff was super welcoming and friendly. What took it to the next level, the Chef took a lot of pride in making the meal. That was so cool. This is why people come back to places!!! Highly recommend because it's chill, relaxed, and they play nice music.

What a cool place in Falls Church. I went here after Black Friday shopping as a way to decompress from the stressful shopping. The minute you walk in, you're greeted with the sound of emo rock, at least what I've heard of when I walked in. There was Spaceballs playing on the TV; I'm sure it adds to the nostalgia factor. I had the grilled cheese #2 that consisted of Harvati and Gouda cheese along with Tater Tots. I really like that you can see the cooks preparing your food as you admire the ambience. I don't remember the beer I drank but it was pretty good, though I don't think I remember the taste. Both the grilled cheese and the tots were so good, I wish I ordered more. Great value for good food and many beers to try out. This place gets packed easily and I'd even say that parking here is limited. Keep that in mind if you do decide to pay a visit.

Falls Church (and NoVa in general) needs more dive bars. Spacebar and its sister bar in Arlington, Galaxy Hut, fill that niche. Spacebar is a small space that could probably stand to be three times bigger. A rotating list of drafts and cans keeps things fresh with fun new selections. Neither bar serves liquor, would be fun to add some cocktails but I'm sure there's some strange Virginia bylaw preventing it. The breadth of the selection of beers, wines, and ciders more than makes up for this, though. Food menu consists mainly of grilled cheeses and tots. Unlike Galaxy Hut, Spacebar is not vegan, but they still provide plenty of vegan and veggie options. The plant-based meatball sandwich at Galaxy Hut is still one my favorite, but the grilled cheese I had here was very tasty. Decor is fun and lightly space themed. TVs behind the bar play old DVDs - my wife and I once watched all of Men in Black while sitting at the bar by reading the subtitles. My only complaints: tough parking sitch, and for some reason, both Spacebar and Galaxy Hut are always a bit toasty inside. Crank up the AC and bribe some of the random businesses next door to share parking and I'd be here every week.

The best tots I have ever had. So crispy, airy and not dense. And the basket is HUGE! Can share with 3-4 people. The Choripapa had some veggies for a good crunch balance and Granny Smith had tart apple to round out the saltiness. Limited seating, not good for a large group. The bar seating is the best imo; the bartenders are great

Still the same classic, Spacebar. Music is always too loud, there's classic DVD movies playing in the back, the Md. pac man machine was replaced by a pinball machine, but the vegan fare - like my vegan chicken pesto sandwich - was delicious. Tatchos are always super crispy and made to your topping specs. Seat yourself, order at the bar, have a good time!

A bar where grilled cheese is the star, can you believe it?!? Food gets a 10. I love the mushroom grilled cheese. And no worries they also have tomato soup. Ambiance is cool and different (tho seating is often full so u may have to wait to sit a bit depending) and staff is v kind. Def recommend for ur grilled cheese craving

It was my first time here. I came to get my husband and I a sandwich. Needless both of us were very disappointed with our vegan and regular Reuben sandwiches. The sandwiches should have been called grilled cheese with sauerkraut because the meat was rather non existent.

Small but mighty! 7 tables and bar seating. 22 beers I tap today. Who doesn't love a good grilled cheese and beer, said no one ever. Choose from a list or create your own. The tots are amazing-I liked mine dipped in ranch. They have vegan options if you choose. The staff (a great group of guys). They were funny and helpful with suggestions. Sorry no food pics. I was too excited because it all looked amazing.

One of my favorites. Tots, a bunch of draft beers of all kinds and grilled cheese. Oh! You are thinking American cheese and white bread? How about apples and goat cheese and.. mmmm. Come by and enjoy a crazy Sci Fi movie or just good company.

This rating is for the niche this place falls into- cool local dive bar! A really nice list of local draft beers and cool sandwiches. I thought the tater tots were simple yet fantastic! The Reuben I had was delicious as well. I can see how nice this place would be if I was within walking distance. Hey, it's been around for a decade so it's making some people happy! Not ideal parking but plenty with short walk. One TV playing like 70's or 80's space like movie?! So don't come here to catch the game some booth and counter seating with only one table to seat more than 4. Counter order and deliver to table. Menu ain't gonna change! Fun experience!

Love this place, but the quality has definitely gone down in the last 7 years or so when we were regulars. My husband & I went for the first time in a while the other night and left a tad disappointed. The beers are still amazing (though they were out of the one I wanted), but the food? Meh. Apparently, they no longer offer eggs for the grilled cheese so I couldn't get my usual order. We ordered the totchos...which just ended up being an $8 basket of tots with hardened cheese on them (seriously, it was so hard it stuck to the paper underneath the tots and would not come off no matter how hard you tried). I'll definitely be back, but food needs work and for goodness sake BRING BACK THE EGGS!

Relaxed welcoming vibe. Kind of like your local dive bar minus the smell of beer soaked floors. The scent of this place when you walked in is more like a greasy spoon diner with a chill but warm vibe. There's 26 beers on tap and they are perfectly chilled and bubbly. We tried 6 different beers and ended up choosing 2 to drink. The loaded tots were loaded, crispy and delicious. The server made great suggestions for us to try. My only disappointment was their breads. The sourdough was not sourdough at all. With all of the great ingredient choices and exceptional selection of plant based protein options I guess you can't have everything. The bread was highly disappointing. We had a rendition of a Cuban with plant based protein and plant based bacon was was sensational! May be one of my top 5 favorite sandwich combos now. This place is clean, friendly and offers many options to wet your whistle and satisfy your need for yummy noms. They had lots of booths and bar seating. Not sure how easily it would accommodate a large group sitting together. They had a large number of seats. Just may not be very easy to seat a group of 10 together. Loved the service, hot and delicious food over all. Oh. And the tomato soup reminded me of spaghetti sauce and not tomato soup. Many pluses to Space Bar. Will definitely be heading back again soon!

Who knew you could make meatloaf into a grilled cheese...well you can and it's amazing!!! The staff are friendly and welcoming. I always stop in whenever I'm in town for work. If you are on a diet and trying to eat healthy...it's ok to have a cheat day and eat at spacebar.

This place defines comfort food! A zillion versions of grilled cheese + a gazillion beers and ciders + tater tots. I had their Cuban sandwich (delicious), a couple of beers, and (of course) tots. The sandwich was just the right amount of crispy on the outside with melty cheese and porky goodness on the inside. The beers were refreshing and since their selection is rotating, may never be seen again. The tots were, as always, crunchy and delicious. It's food to make you happy. On the downside, parking is tight. I got there a bit before 7, midweek, and grabbed the last space. We also got the next to the last booth. About 15 minutes later the bar seats were all taken and it was standing room only. So for the best possible time, get there early and hungry, and thirsty.

We were looking for a place to get a quick bite and enjoy some beers with a friend that was in town. After hearing about Spacebar we decided to give it a go. This place has a casual and fun vibe with a great staff to match. We ordered quite a few beers and my personal favorite was the Orange Cream Wit. We ordered the tatchos as a starter and loved how customizable they were. You can put just about anything on top of them. I also ordered the Reuben and my husband ordered the steak & cheese. Both of us agreed they were the best sammies we have had in a while! Towards the end of our dinner at Spacebar the incredibly kind cook asked if we had ordered two sandwiches he was holding. We told him no and there had apparently been a mistake in the kitchen. Without hesitation he put them in boxes for us to take home. We got to have Spacebar again for lunch the next day! You'll love this spot, give it a try!

This is the only place I come to expecting to rough up the roof of my mouth cuz their sandwich are so crispy and delicious! This is the only place I will chain smoke 3 grilled cheeses in a row and regret absolutely nothing! Great bartenders, great environment, great food! What else could you ask for?!?! Love this place and will always come back time after time

Spacebar has consistently provided a great craft beer and grilled cheese emporium for almost 10 years. The secret to their success is that they been rotating 1/2 and 1/4 kegs of multiple brands of beer. No two are ever the same. A little divey, the staff really knows it's stuff. A great stop in any day of the week to just chat and drink quality beer.

Super chill vibe. Great selection of craft brews and grilled cheese that is careening through the universe it's axis on a tilt, it's guiltless and free I hope to take a piece of grilled cheese with you. Me and the bros hit this place on the non-regular. Soon to make it into regular rotation.

They do not answer their phone. They have a phone number on their website and all other places where you see them listed on the Internet, but, for some reason they just actually refuse to answer their phone. In what world do we live in now where a restaurant can't answer their phone? They don't even have a nice message when you call in case they're busy and can't pick up. But that's not the case. They just simply don't see it as part of their business plan. Call them now and see for yourself. If they start answering their phone, I will absolutely delete this review.

Disclaimer: i've got a sound sensitivity thing that makes my brain hurt around environments with lots of sound. And. This place is Loud. I had to type my order down on my phone to shove in someone's face because I physically could not raise my voice above a volume where my server could hear me. I was looking for a quick place to treat a friend to a late snack as gratitude for driving me around that day. Spacebar had been on my radar because of the cool name, and the fact that Yelp had cool pictures of the place. The food is wonderful! my friend and I were so pleasantly surprised by how good the meatloaf sandwich was. (Do you SEE how much CHEESE we pulled?!) Plus, the cheesy tots were CRUNCHY and tasted fun with ketchup. we managed to get through half of them in that one sitting, but I eventually took the next four days to really run them through my air fryer. Tastes good with spicy mayo and sriracha.

God I love this place, one tv that only plays random movies with no sound is awesome, if you ever hit a lull in conversation with whomever you're with you have this random movie playing it's great. Simple premise executed well, grilled cheese and beer. The beer lists are usually pretty good. Servers are always chill and will recognize you as a regular even if you're they're like 2 times a month.

Lots of vegan options and plenty of cheese! The vegan chicken is insanely delicious and you wouldn't know it's not actual chicken. There is a good beer list, only a few soda options-served in cans.

So happy to find spacebar right across the street from the hotel - great beer selection - delicious grilled cheese made to order - staff are so nice - love the theme throughout of space and the old school movies playing - lock stock & 2 smoking barrels, battlestar galactica! Very cool! I will be back!

With its rotating selections on tap and a solid selection of grilled cheeses and tots, Spacebar is a great place to go after a long day and seek solace in the comfort of an elevated version of a childhood favorite while sipping on some tasty suds. Definitely looking forward to coming back the next time I'm traveling through the area.

I've always drove by this place hoping to go but it's been always been so busy (pre-pandemic). I've heard great things about their food and fortunately it's pretty easy to get takeout. We ordered the choripapa melt, a vegan chicken bbq sandwich, and brunchos with beyond sausage. Pickup and parking were super easy (small lot so it's hard to find a spot if it's busy). All I had to do was call the number and a friendly dude got my order right on time. This was a lot of food, it felt like a baby was in the bag. The brunchos were a must have. Their tots are perfectly golden and crispy (even on the next day from the fridge). The crispy cheese, avocado, sausage, and fried egg really just made it crazy. I would get this every time I come back (I'm absolutely coming back). The choripapa was hefty and super buttery. The bread was perfectly buttered and toasted and was loaded with chorizo and avocado. The recommendation to add the avocado and pickled red onions really gave it a nice texture and tang. I wish I didn't add the extra tots, not that I didn't like them but there was so much next to the brunchos as well. If I'm looking to just put myself in a food coma, I'm coming straight here. Helps that there are a bunch of veggie/vegan options. Also I'm trying to come back when everything is back to normal, I can see the food really helping sober people up.

Went to the Spacebar to grab a drink. To my surprise they had many vegan options and many of their menu items could be veganized. I grabbed the tots and a Cheesesteak sandwich. The service was great and the food was amazing. I will definitely be returning to try all of their ciders/beers. As far as the ambiance/vibe, it was nice. As a single woman I felt safe. However, the bathrooms were gross and overdue for a deep clean. That's why I'm giving this place a 4/5 stars. If not for the restrooms it would've been 5 for sure! I was even able to watch them clean up before closing and that made me feel even better. Go check them out!

The place is small with limited parking. They have seats at the counter and booths, with a lot of beers on tap with a good variety. They also have old movies playing above the bar. The food menu is limited but can not really go wrong with the items there. I tried a couple beers and they were all pretty quality so I would say if you are in the area and want a chill bar with good beers, this is a place worth checking out.

I live so close to here but have never been because it always looks so dark inside. We finally came to grab some food to take back and now have my favorite grilled cheese restaurant. We ordered the Cuban and Andromeda and both were unreliably tasty. I never got the grilled cheese faze but I do now. Both sandwiches tasted like a sinfully perfect sandwich and i honestly don't have a favorite out of the two. I also highly recommend the totchos. While it can be kinda pricey after you load it up with everything you may want, it's totally worth it. The portion is huge but most importantly, they taste amazing as well and were crunchy until the last bite!

Spacebar is the best place to get your grilled cheese and beer fix! Came for dinner on a Thursday evening and it wasn't too packed. There's a few sit down booths and tons of seating around the bar. Menu for sandwiches and beer is extensive. You order at the bar and food comes out pretty quickly! Tachos with Bacon and Jalapeños: Per bartenders recommendation, we asked for bacon and jalapeños on top of our tachos. The portion size was huge! Cheese was more of shredded cheese, but there was a lot of it. This was pretty good the day of, but my stomach wasn't feeling good the morning after. #21 - Turkey, pesto, sundries tomatoes, cheese: THIS WAS SO GOOD! The sun dried tomatoes added great flavor. There was also just enough pesto and cheese. Overall, Spacebar is a great place for late night eats or a cheesy dinner. Amazing beer selection with beers from all over VA. Will definitely come back to try the other sandwiches.

I've been to Galaxy Hut a lot, Spacebar's sister restaurant in Arlington, so I knew I needed to check this place out. It fully delivers and met my expectations if not exceeded them. The vibe is casual and fun, with old B list 80s movies playing on their TV. I got the fake chicken avocado melt and it was super delicious. The tots are amazing and oh so crunchy. This place is the epitome of good vegetarian comfort food and a good time.

Been here a handful of times and didn't realize I never left a review! I've even been here before I was even 21, so that was a long long time ago! I remember that time, I was like 19 or something and I just wanted to eat a sandwich and they wouldn't let me in because I wasn't 21 yet... I was so mad cuz I just wanted a yummy grilled cheese, but I got it to-go and didn't let that experience ruin it for me. I've been back several times since then and the food has always been solid. The tater tot portion is hugeeee and I love how you can just add a whole bunch of toppings on there as you please. They have plenty of beer on tap, and surprisingly, they also have a mighty selection of hot sauces that you can try. Well, the last time I came was pre-covid, so idk if they let you try all their different hot sauces in bottles, but they had so many unique ones to try the last time I was here. All the sandwiches I've tried are always good and the service has almost always been great.

I have gotten takeout here a few times during COVID. They have not had any seating inside or out. I like their cheese sandwiches and tater tots. I particularly like the vegan cheese sandwiches. The tots are also very good. They are nice and crispy, and they have a decent selection of sauces. Pre-COVID, I enjoyed their beer selection. They had a generous selection of craft beer, mostly local. I could sample different ones. I hope that COVID ends soon, so I can again be able to drink there.

Great beer with a wide variety on tap and reasonably priced. The grilled cheese is very good and they have vegan options if you're into that. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about what they serve.

No qualms.

Delicious grilled cheese dive bar! I love the grilled cheese, there are soo many options even for vegans. I got the #5 with mushrooms, onions, gouda, cheddar on sourdough instead of rye. While it was scrumptious, I think I'll build my own and swap out gouda for pepperjack and add some extras (avocado, garlicky spinach, roasted red pepper, chipotle mayo...yum!). I really liked the Apple Bomb cider with 6.2% alcohol and the red blend wine. I wasn't a fan of the white wine, it had a weird taste. While the tots looked appetizing, my friend who has made every ditch effort to try to like them (at least 3 times), dissuaded me not to. I'm glad I followed her advice, because I was so stuffed! It gets pretty packed around 6 over the weekend, so come early or be prepared to stand! I'm glad my friend snagged a seat for us right at 6 as I got there a 1/2 hour later and it was packed. If you are craving grilled cheese, Spacebar hits the spot!

An incredible, curated beer selection with upscale versions of comfort food staples such as grilled cheese (try the Brussels and bacon) and tachos (think nachos with tater tots instead of tortilla chips). We are out of town-ers and make it here every chance we can get. The regulars we see every time we stop in speaks to the amazing staff and their ability to maintain a great following while taking some very calculated risks with their offerings. They also have a wide variety of plant based alternatives, with most of their offerings having a solid modification for those seeking to satisfy their vegan cravings as well.

Very nice place for fresh craft beer, mostly local craft beer, as well as a good variety of creative grilled cheese sandwiches. Great staff and nice atmosphere, too.

Summary- Damn Hipsters. Okay let's get the hard stuff out of the way...this is a damn hipster bar. They might as well call it Hipster Bar. They have delicious sandwiches but they ruin it by being all about "we are cool with our beards and microbrew beer". YOU SELL GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES WITH NO TOMATO SOUP!! Wtf??? Oh and they only do web orders on their website which they have a limited menu now. I called and the only thing the guy who answered the phone was able to say is- order online. You guys aren't even on Uber Eats. Since they are using the pandemic time to do some renovations, they eliminated inside seating. First off- huge mistake. When you have a friggin parking lot in a place with parking on the street around the damn corner! Clare and Dons made it work-what's the matter Cassidy or Clementine or Zoey didn't want to spend the money on some tenting for your customers!!!!???? Secondly- limited online menu, they eliminated half of the good stuff they USED to offer. Yeah Dan or Billy or Greg or Apple we get it, your beard and tattoos make you a on conformist and your 90s punk era jackets woth flare make you edgy. Whooooaaaaaa. STFU. I was in the mood for a grilled ham and cheese with spicy honey mustard. Gone. They don't serve tomato soup or anything other then that. Damn hipsters Hey HIPSTERS! You need to get your/their/they/them life together. Otherwise when they are open, they are pretty cool place to have a beer and a sandwich while watching some edgy movie on their Netflix account at a comfy bar with a unique selection of beer.

Fantastic vegan bar food. So fun, so good. Very cool local bar type atmosphere. Very friendly service. We are 1/2 hour from the restaurant and it will be one of our regular places we eat.

This place is awesome! It's pretty tiny, as is the parking lot, so if you don't slow down it's really easy to drive right by. It doesn't help that the sign for it isn't lit and not above the storefront. The inside is small and basic, diner type booths and a long bar to sit at. The menu for beers on tap is just as big as the combinations of grilled cheese to choose from. Besides tap, there are plenty of cans to choose from. I have yet to eat a grilled cheese there that I haven't liked. So far I've had a philly cheese type grilled cheese, the peruvian chicken special, and portabello mushroom. Additionally, you can get tater tots or tatchos, which is essentially a pile of tater tots topped with anything you want and more.
