Awesome souls work at this unique vegan restaurant in Ferndale. The food was presented great, and the waffles are astoundingly delicious. Had the breakfast burrito later, and half of it would have been enough protein as a meal. Ate the whole thing. Worth the trip anywhere in the Detroit area! Or State or USA!

Nacho is bomb! My mouth is watering for more while I'm trying to type this up, lol. ✌🏾🍴 Everything is vegan or vegetarian. The workers are super nice and very informative. Everything is made in-house. They have weekly specials, and they sound pretty good. I tried a few things here, wasnt a fan of some dishes (like the mac and artichoke dip), so I stick with nachos & the mouth watering salted brown sugar cookies that I'm addicted to 😅✨️💛

Looking for a breakfast/lunch spot that feels and tastes like a Ferndale original? Spacecat V-stro is the place. The food is homemade and handcrafted, capitalizing on quality vegan ingredients. Not a vegan? Irrelevant if you love flavor and good food. I had the Spacecat Purrito (not a typo). It was delicious! Menu options for the gluten-free crowd and they can swap to dairy cheese if you prefer. The staff were friendly, positive, and NOT uppity vegan snobs (you know the type). Atmosphere was that of a clean, modern-yet-warm diner and the playlist was a nice touch. Take your pals, partners, parents, and homies to my new favorite vegan spot, Spacecat V-stro. The Spacecat V-stro experience starts before you even enter the space; like, this might be the sweetest little vegan restaurant in the US. So inviting, with the "Show us your Pets" wall as you enter (Rainbow Bridge shout out to DUKE), the crazy cute cat and animal art all throughout, then there's the food. I had the Breakfast Bomb, it was earlier in the day so I was in the mood for something breakfast and it delivered. Knowing I was having this craving, our server let me in on a hot tip, that the cooks will sometimes do sidebar Waffles and I jumped all over it ~ all of them were excellent, yes! My mom went with the CHKN Fingers, which were different than the usual cut and paste vegan variety, really interesting and very good, as were the accompanying sauces. There's a wonderful selection of baked goods by the little bar and I'm only sad we weren't able to make it back there ...this just gives me an excuse to return on another trip and try, well, everything! Oh, and extra gold stars for the super inclusive feel, thank you!!

This was a restaurant that I’ve been interested in for quite some time. I frequent the area, but was there either on a day when they were closed or after 3p when they are closed. 🤪 Anyhoo, last week I timed it well, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try them out. I initially thought I would order to go, but after being told the wait to take my order was 20 minutes, I decided to dine in. I sat and waited for someone to take my order. And waited…and waited. I decided to turn and face the kitchen, hoping someone would notice me. Finally a young woman with long brown ponytails, lots of piercings, dressed kind of gypsy-ish walks up to me and after I said, “Wow, I was wondering when someone was gonna see about me” - she literally said, “So what do you want?” (With no smile.) I was shocked, but gave her my order. She assumed I was still taking it to go and I told her I was dining in. Within 10 minutes my order was brought to me (with no utensils, so the young man had to go and get some for me). While I was eating, I had to get up and walk to the kitchen because I needed ketchup. Other patrons began walking in. I noticed when they walked in they were greeted, the same female that was rude to me, was very gracious with them. Asking them if this was their first time here. Even offering suggestions from the menu. No one asked me if my food was good, if I needed anything else, or even checked on me at all. I finally decided to go when I realized that I didn’t even have a drink because it wasn’t offered to me. I had to get up again to get a to go box and before leaving I asked to speak to the manager. If my memory serves me correct, she was the owner and her name is Kelly. She was very apologetic and told me that that is not what normally happens there. She said that she would have a meeting with her staff to ensure that doesn’t happen again. I hope so. And I will take my time, and decide whether I will spend any more money there.

Ultra high level plant based menu mixed with such good vibrations. Maybe in Los Angeles, Austin, NYC and such places it’s not too uncommon finding restaurants on this level. But here in Metro Detroit, just sitting down in a culture rich dining room with big Michigan energy, smashing amazing plant based food while Joy Division plays through the speakers at the perfect volume… This place is bliss. I would pay double price for the experience. Thank you, Spacecat. Y’all are so inspiring. Much love. Bonus point awarded for: The servers always treat you like a friend here. It’s like having a neighbor or long-time friend guide you through a rad dining experience. So notable.

Lunch was so good, we went back for breakfast... Yep, twice visited on our weekend trip! The staff was so sweet, they knew their regular customers, and everyone was treated as a friend. Their fluffy waffles were the best waffles I've probably ever had! Slightly crisp and fluffy. Their special waffle sandwich, Eleven's wafflich, was amazing! So many flavors that blended beautifully. As a vegan breakfast can be rather lackluster, but not here! We also had and enjoyed, broccoli cheddar soup, Caesar salad, chicken Parm sandwich, banana cake, and brown butter chocolate chip cookies, which I just ate now after flying home, and OMG I want more!!! They are a must buy.

Spacecat has the most amazing chocolate chip cookies i cannot believe they are vegan! I also loved this sausage and waffle brunch special i hope it makes it on to their regular menu 🤩 Also highly recommend sausage and peppers!!

This place is perfect. The vegan food is well balanced and interesting. It's original with familiar ingredients. We tried the breakfast bomb and the chicken waffles. We shared them. Excellent food. Nothing was greasy and it was all cooked to perfection. I'm gushing in this review over the food because it really is that good. The ambience is casual, kind of pop, sunny and welcoming.. there is a space cat vibe and it's ironic and humorous. This is a fun place to be. This place is a gem. I highly recommend eating there.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. We went at 10 AM and there was only 1 more table there. I've been told that place gets extremely busy and food takes long. Our wait for food was about 20-25 minutes. Everything is made from scratch and made to order. The quality of food was very fresh. Flavors were really good. Textures in the food were great. Presentation wise it was pleasing to look at. The menu changes weekly, so do not get hooked on one thing for too long. As the owner has versatility in menu choices, and always picks great weekly specials. The restaurant overall is kind of tight squeezed, there is ample seating though. Clean atmosphere, and there is really nice decor. You can tell the owners put a lot of love into this place. Sadly they close at 3 PM and we're not always able to catch them before they close. However It's definitely worth the drive!

As a vegan, coming from LA to Detroit and the lack of vegan restaurants is to say the least, disappointing. I finally gave Space Cat Vstro a try. Mixed results. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Coco. I ordered two items to go, the chicken parm and the cheeseburger burrito. The chicken parm was bland and the bun was too soft and fell apart easily. On the other hand, the burrito was flavorful and had great texture. I will be back to try other menu items.

First time visiting!! This place is cute and sits on the street with multiple restaurants. The service was great. We placed the order and waited vs ordering online. It took about 15 mins and it was fresh. My husband said the food was good, but wishes he would have went with his first choice of the chicken and waffle sandwich. He did mention the greens could have been a tad bit seasoned more, but overall it was still tasty! The salted chocolate chip cookie....AMAAAAAZZZZIIIIINNG!! I wish we would've bought some back with us! If the desserts taste anything like this cookie, then I know it's good! They have a nice variety of vegan food and the website spells everything out for you especially if it's not vegan. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because of the parking situation. I didn't see a garage near by and we were lucky to find a spot I front of the building, but I can imagine parking being an issue. I'm sure we will be back when we visit home again!

This place is fantastic! I spotted it last weekend when I was at Bobcat Bonnie's and saw it across the way. I told a bunch of friends and we came here for brunch the very next weekend. This is an adorable space with super cute decor. The people working here were all very friendly and helpful. There were so many interesting dishes to try we did not know what to order there were too many things we wanted to try. I got their cheese sticks since I had seen them online here, on Yelp, and they looked really good. They were incredible! So good and hot and crunchy. Funny enough, they reminded me of my favorite cheese on a stick at Cedar Point in the best way possible. I could see getting them every time. I look some home for the family to try and they loved them too. Their magic spacecat sauce was also amazing. It tasted like a spicy version of a Big Mac or other fast food burger sauce. So good, you can taste the spices, the mustard, probably a must order on the side every time you visit. They sell it as well. It would be worth purchasing the bottle for home. I also tried their special of the day jalapeño biscuit sandwich. I believe it had scrambled tofu that looked and tasted like yummy eggs, a homemade sausage patty which was delicious, I believe vegan cheese and dill ranch. It was a tall thick sammy. So good and flavorful! I also took some home for the family and they also really enjoyed it. I am sure they would return with me to order more. They also sell cookies and other pastries. They mentioned they were recognized by PETA for their cookies and other customers around were eating them and said they were good. I did not have room but maybe next time. I enjoyed the cute diner atmosphere and this has to be one of the most unique and delicious vegetarian restaurants I have visited in a very long time.

I'm a regular at this place for a reason! My partner and I were looking for a good breakfast / lunch joint that had options for both of us because I'm gluten free and he is lactose intolerant. All the servers are great and Coco is especially knowledgeable about the food and possible modifications to certain dishes (try the quesadilla with Burmese tofu added! So good!). The specials are always interesting and my partner is never disappointed by the cookie of the week. Their batch brew coffee is Hyperion and better than your average diner joe. We've also never had issues getting a table, which is a huge plus considering the weekend brunch scene around Ferndale. I've never had a bad meal here and suggest you check it out even if you're not vegetarian- and get the cheeze sauce on the cosmic fries when you do!

finally got a chance to try Spacecat V-stro and very much enjoyed! Cute, clean atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the "big dill" special, which was a tempeh grilled sandwich with dill pickles and red cabbage. It was delicious! I got the garlic kale as a side as well as the kale slaw, and i actually enjoyed the slaw more than the garlic kale but both were pretty good. the only reason i am giving less than 5 stars is that the wait time was quite long despite having no other customers and multiple people in the kitchen. Despite this I really enjoyed my meal and i will definitely try this place again.

I love the atmosphere of the v-stro! There are cats EVERYWHERE! Including a photo wall of pets from their customers and employees! They have amazing baked goods every week, all vegan and some even gluten free :) and the food they make is so delicious, they have a regular menu and weekly specials that they rotate through. My faves have to be the brunch salad, the brunch quesadilla, and the cheese sticks!

Everything is vegan except 1 thing. I love that. The waiter was super nice and very informative. Everything is made in-house. They have weekly specials, and they sounded pretty good. But I missed nachos, they were delicious!! I'll be back for more of that. Also, I grabbed a small plate, half size grilled cheese (very buttery taste but good) with chickpea nuggets (ok) + magic sauce (good). Then I tried my friends cheeseburger burrito, weird item, lettuce welded, but my friend enjoyed and only stopped eating from meaning full.

This is some of the best vegan food in town! The inside space is small, so you might want to come when they are less busy. They have a nice patio space with a couple of tables out back. I can't wait to eat here again!

I have been coming to Spacecat for years as a regular. I look forward to getting a lunch there in the middle of a busy work week. The weekly specials keep things interesting and the names of all the selections are so fun. I recommend upgrading the side salad to a Caesar Salad! Everything is so yummy and even non-Vegan friends are delighted and are surprised that Vegan desserts can be so good. Bonus that Shelly and her staff are so personable and you can tell they put love and care into making the food and taking care of the customers. My cat Muffin loves to stop by with me for a patio hang on some weekend days too. She recommends the shade and bird watching in the back.

This place was very cute, and had decent enough food. I enjoyed the vegan cheese sticks a lot, I've never had anything like it and it definitely made me more inclined to try other vegan foods in the future. The sausage and peppers was ok, the peppers & onions could've been cooked longer, and the sausage a little crispier. The breakfast bomb was really good. My spouse and I agreed that we liked the others food better lol.The restaurant itself is adorable, but the music is a little off putting.

Great vegan food! Not just your average gardein or smart life brands. But they make their own! Obsessed with their homemade "sausage" and other fake meats. So many great options to choose from.

I came here with some coworkers who are vegetarian and had lunch. I had the breakfast sandwich and it was amazing! I wouldn't have known it was vegetarian! It was very flavorful. I'd def go back. My only complaint is that I wish I had more drink options. I did have the salted cookie, which was also really good! I only wish it came as a set of 2-3 cookies or that they cookies were bigger. Overall, great experience and I'd go back.

I was so excited when I finally found a vegan breakfast joint that was open early! I ordered what was supposed to be a tofu scramble wrap with veggies. It was placed in front of me and I was immediately concerned as the tofu was extremely wet and soupy. This was the first time I had eaten Burmese tofu, so I thought it might be different. It tasted like a mistake. I took one bite into the liquid wrap, bit into a very large and raw piece of green pepper. It came out of the wrap and slapped down onto the plate. I don't think it was cooked at all. I couldn't eat anymore. My husband got vegan biscuits and gravy which he couldn't taste because of all the pepper. He wasn't able to eat his either. We waited over 40 minutes and we just wanted to get out of there.

This is the BEST vegan breakfast place!!! The food is amazing and the fact that the proteins are all made in house is a plus. It was SOOO YUMMY!!! I had the Chicken and Waffles, and I can't wait to get back to Detroit to try it again

Upon arrival space cat is a very cute cafe with pictures of people's pets hanging. A server came over and spoke to us pretty quickly after sitting down but the wait for the food was about 25-30 minutes which is a little insane for a little cafe that wasn't busy when we came in. The power bowl was pretty much flavorless I had about a bite and didn't finish it, I actually asked for it to be taken off the bill because I didn't like it so much this wasn't honored and I had to pay for it. All together for 3 things our food was about $40-43. We also tried the Mac and cheese (no flavor) and the grilled cheese which was a 6.5/10. Wouldn't come here again even drowned in salt & pepper the food sadly had no flavor. I don't know why places think vegan food has to be flavorless.

Another great meal from Spacecat V-stro, so much appreciate all the effort they put into their daily specials and wonderful desserts. This is my new favorite place to order food. People who live in Ferndale are so very lucky to have this fabulous restaurant so close by. I agree with all the reviews that give them 5 stars.

Once again, Spacecat V-stro doesn't disappoint! The Spacecat Chicken Sandwich was OUT OF THIS WORLD! By far my favorite thing on the menu!

I was walking around on a Sunday morning looking for some brunch and the name caught my attention. I went inside (it was carry out only when I was there) and ordered a breakfast burrito special that was amazing. There were outdoor tables setup in the back and it was a lovely day, so I went outside to eat with my coffee and the cutlery they provided. The interior was really cool with a lot of art as well. This was honestly the best breakfast burrito I've ever had. The cosmic potatoes were amazing as well. I was stuffed after this meal. Even omnivores will find this food delightful. Don't be put off because you think vegan food might be gross - it's not. Go try it.

This place has such tasty food! The red dwarf burger is my favorite. It has these tasty marinaded carrots on top that add so much flavor. The portion sizes look deceptively small. I guarantee, you will be full after. Take advantage of their outdoor patio. Give them a call to tell them you're there to pick up, and they'll deliver right to your table. Regular table service isn't available at the moment.

Ordered the Spacecat Purrito - grilled burrito, flavorful with peppers vegan sausage, potatoes, spicy sauce with sweet potatoes very scrumptious and tasty and quite good, the size was okay but would've liked if it was bigger. The side of sweet potatoes was a welcome addition. ($9 value) Also the Black Hole Burger was hearty and thick loved the melted cheese on the burger, light garlic greens was a nice added touch. Wish the lentil black bean burger could be a little more flavorful or some added sauce. ($10 value) The service was nice and the girl was sweet and kind as they gave curbside delivery when you order over the phone. Decent size but wish there was more portion ordering two items was almost enough but I can't imagine if I ordered just one item how it would've lacked to fill me up. It's a little pricey and the portions were borderline lacking to almost enough, would I come here again and recommend this place? Yes. Next time I'll try the chicken sandwiches and cheeseburger burritos. Plus I like their creative menu items and the Spacecat theme which makes this place pretty intriguing.

Welcome , welcome to this new gem in the Ferndale neighborhood!!! Vegetarian YUM! (I brought a vegetarian chicken and waffles to my parents, who are NOT vegetarians and they loved it too!) The Breakfast Bomb is... wait for it: the BOMB! Easily my favorite with that little spicy kick. We chose the potato side option and those are really delicious. Next time I will add an extra side order of those for sure. The chicken and waffles is very shareable! The waffles are those nice thick pieces, a meal in itself, and comes with maple syrup dip If you're less hungry, order the biscuit and coffee for all of the deliciousness but smaller meal. We also ordered the side of tempeh bacon and ate that with the biscuit, making an entirely extra meal. (Unnecessary but so good!) So happy to see these guys here It's so super filling.. I fed 5 of us on $53! (Plus $2 tax and 20% tip) I was super intrigued when I saw they were opening on social media and drive from Bloomfield to try it today via pick up (indoor dining closed at the moment) and it was worth it. I would drive back again anytime. Nothing like it on my side of town.

The restaurant is beautiful. The servers walked by us for 15 minutes before we got menus. Then I had to stop a server that was passing to take our order because we waited an additional 15 minutes after we had the menus. IT WASN'T EVEN BUSY. You can tell there was no team work. The food took a veryyyy long time to come out. Over 20 minutes and it was only two people in my party. Won't be returning.

I got takeout from this restaurant for the first time last week and the service was fast & friendly. I'm not vegan but eat mostly plant based. I loved the vegan chicken parm sandwich, the texture of the meat was really good. The mac and cheese was a bit lackluster compared to the real stuff but if you're totally dairy free, might still be a good option. I will be back to try a few of their other dishes! I was able to find parking right in front but you might have to park in the lot or structure and walk if it's busy downtown.

First time here and everything was fantastic! We had the Hot Mess sandwich, Frankie's Hot Chkn Fingers and Cosmic Fries. I knew something was right when I opened up the take home boxes and smell of each food was fresh and prominent. Sometimes you order fries and they smell more like grease that little potato wedges but not this time, they were awesome. Best part is they did not over salt the food, nothing worse than having food made by people who season it so much that it makes your mouth taste like it was soaked in the Dead Sea. We moved to the Detroit burbs from Chicago in 2021 and it's been more misses than hits when it comes to finding quality vegetarian or vegan food places that are even close to the Chicago Diner, but I am confident we finally found one! Looking forward to trying something new every time we go here. I rarely recommend meat eaters go to vegan places, but this one is an exception, food is fresh, flavorful and fantastic.

First time trying this place & I was really impressed. I had gotten the veggie burger with carrot bacon and a side of fries. (Oh! It came with a small salad w/ vinaigrette dressing) I ate the entire meal in one setting. But it was really flavorful & delicious. I am eager to try more. I will definitely be back. I can't wait until the inside dining will be open again. I'll be bringing a friend.

If you're in the market for some of the tastiest vegetarian food that Detroit has to offer, look no further. I first heard about Spacecat via their legendary vegan cheese sticks, which far exceed the hype. My friend and I practically inhaled all of them with how tasty they were. All of the vegan/vegetarian proteins and sauces are made from scratch in the kitchen, and the flavor is kick a$$! The atmosphere is perfect for a lunch spot for sit down, or to go. The menu has so many options to offer, including nachos, sandwiches, and wraps. A great selection of beverages- my friend and I each got a tasty kombucha (her the lavender lemonade, me the adaptogen kombucha). Shelly the owner is a passionate, creative and kind soul, who makes cuisine straight from the heart. If you're lucky enough to catch the Firecracker Whoopie Pie on the menu, waste not a single moment in getting yourself one. It was a dream, and the perfect balance of chewy with a little bit of heat. 20/10 will be coming again, for the wonderful hospitality, fun interiors, fabulous food, and that dang firecracker whoopie pie! Failed to get pictures of our food besides the epic cheese sticks. We were too busy inhaling it!

Really impressive vegan comfort food!! Ordered the cheeseburger burrito and cosmic fries and both were great. It was a good amount of food for lunch and I'll definitely be back. The only notes from me would be that the burrito did get a bit soggy toward the end and the garlic greens could use a little more salt/seasoning. All in a all, a great spot to have in the neighborhood!

Literally every meal I have had here has been phenomenal. They truly know the key to your heart... through food. Everything is made with love and they are so kind and personable each and every visit. Hands down my favorite plant-based restaurant EVER!

Yes, yes and yes! Thank you for this vegetarian goodness. We decided to order a variety of items to try out and each item was better than the other. Also, those fries... YOU HAVE TO GET THE Cosmic Fries! We will be regulars in no time.

im visiting from out of town and wanted to like this place because it looks good online but my gluten free cheeseburger burrito is half the size of the regular one for a dollar more $10 for the size of a taco bell soft taco lol and the side salads that came with our burritos were completely wilted we chose to throw them out. kinda flavorless and salty.. disappointed :-( maybe the other stuff is good? but this was a flop for the price

Not a vegetarian nor vegan, but I really enjoyed my lunch today. The black bean burger was tasty and the carmelized onions were perfection. I also really appreciated the curbside service as I have my little one with me all day, so I can pop by any day for a quick lunch. Highly recommend!

this place is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown Ferndale! I had the Red Dwarf burger, which was incredible - it's so hard to find a good beet burger & this one was just *it*. The cashew cheese sticks were great too - not too rich, just right. Portions are a good size & it's great to have a place with SO many vegan options. Can't wait to try more off their menu!

Finally made it over to Ferndale to try this place out. Got take out with curbside pickup. Food was ready close to the estimated time & promptly brought out to car. Everything was really good. I'm definitely having Hot Mess sandwich & cheese stick again soon. We went with vegan cheese on the Hot Mess & dairy cheese on brunch quesadilla. Both were really good The only thing we didn't care for was the Spacecat sauce. Way too hot for us.

So yummy and good feeling food! I called in and ordered then parked around back in the delivery parking and retrieved my food from inside they will also bring it out if you'd like. I got the black hole burger, salad, fries and Mac n cheese! Everything was so good and filling! Thank you for the kind service as well.

This place is amazing. I got the Mac and cheese with the garlic greens, the chicken & waffles sandwich with the potatoes on the side, and the tempeh bacon... dude amazing. The best vegan Mac and cheese I've maybe ever had. Worth every penny, will be back. 100/10, can't wait to eat everything else.

The vegan cheese sticks are out of this world. Love how they don't use store bought "fake" meats like a beyond burger but everything is homemade and fresh. The biscuit breakfast sandwich and the dill ranch sauce they make is so good. Wish the side portions were bigger because they are yummy! Highly recommend and a new regular place for us!
