Fresh pasta is a treat. And Spaghetto does their pasta (and not much else) very well.
Ambiance:
The restaurant itself looks like an afterthought to the factory clearly visible through the glass windows. It isn't lovely in there but it's cozy enough. It's a bit hidden, requiring a U-turn on the main road, entry to a commercial plaza, and then unexpectedly it appears with very small name on the door itself. That said, make the drive. The pasta is great and the prices are very reasonable for fresh pasta.
The food:
Fiocchetti with truffle: Pasta purses in the truffle cream sauce: the pasta is the star. Chewy, clearly fresh, and stuffed with a pleasant mild cheese center. The sauce, while tasty, relies entirely on truffle oil (NOT what you find at a high end restaurant) with not a single bit of truffle pieces to be seen. Its tasty, sure, and the cream sauce pairs nicely with it.
Lobster Ravioli with Pink Sauce: Very good. Again, the texture of the pasta is chewy and just right. The lobster filling wasn't fishy, tasted fresh and well-seasoned, and the sauce was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Linguini with Pink Sauce, added mushrooms and broccoli: The pink sauce, again, was very well seasoned and flavorful. The pasta was perfectly al-dente and delicious. The broccoli was very clearly frozen, mushy and not fresh, as were the mushrooms. This is an absolutely unforgivable gaff and should immediately be rectified by management. Italian food is only ever as good as the quality of its ingredients.
Tiramisu: an exercise in mediocrity. The espresso base tasted strong and fresh, which I always enjoy in my tiramisu. The creamy topping, traditionally a mascarpone & whipped cream blend, tasted like it had been sitting in a refrigerator for too long. It was thick and clumpy rather then smooth and delightful. Decent enough to satisfy a sweet tooth but, certainly not ever close to some of the best tiramisu I've had. Shame. I'd work to rectify this immediately.
Summary:
The pasta and sauces are the stars. Skip any/all of their second-rate add-ons such as previously frozen veggies, shrimp (quite small in size), etc. as well as their desserts. Stick to the basic pasta and sauce formula here and you'll leave very happy. At least until they get serious about upping the quality on ALL of their other ingredients and their dessert game.
