Hands down one of the best pizzas I've had while traveling. Crust is thin, toppings are high quality and overall a great experience. My husband ordered a steak and mushroom pizza and while that's not a combination I usually enjoy, I loved it! They have a very extensive vegetarian and vegan selection. Next time we're in town I hope to try one of their hoagies!

Google
This is the best vegan pizza I've ever eaten! We enjoyed the vegan buffalo chicken, vegan margarita, and seitan wings immensely. The crust is delicious and the pizza does not taste gummy, which is often the case with vegan cheese. They use violife, so it is safe for nut allergy. Highly recommended to any vegans seeking delicious pizza! And well worth the money. Some people who have left reviews complain about the cost, but this delicious well-made pizza is worth it! This is not your average pizza place.

Hey…as a regular customer, I’m very disappointed this time. Fried/grilled chicken salad, at a price of almost $13-$14 was sub par. Missing ingredients that made it worth it and special. Disappointed given the 20 minute wait, for this poor quality of a “classic,” easy to make PGH salad…

Google
Very friendly hole in the wall with great service and very tasty pizza. Had the barbecue chicken pizza and it was very good. Could have used some extra sauce but that's a personal preference. Lots of gluten and vegan options. I'm interested in trying a different selection next time in the area.

Google
This place has been around for awhile, so I assume they only treat online orders this way, but they are absolutely scamming anyone that orders online. I ordered a large pizza with breadsticks thinking it could feed me and 2 other friends. Instead i was met with unseasoned dough scraps and a pizza the size of my hand. The only reason it gets 2 stars is cause the pizza tastes decent, it’s just a shame they clearly don’t care about online customers.

Google
So delicious and fabulous vegan seitan wings in honey mustard sauce with ranch, so well done vegan bread sticks with tomato sauce and so great vegan Pittsburgh sandwich! We loved it all ate it all and will come back for more. Very friendly owner and staff. You can't go wrong with this spot in Pittsburgh, they serve also non-vegan regular menu. So everyone can enjoy!! Seriously this self-made seitan is better than in LA.

Google
I don't live near this shop, but my daughter does and really likes their pizza, so I've had them a few times. Its not "Pittsburgh style pizza" like you'll find on Murray Ave; the bottom crust is on the thin side and not quite so much cheese. The taste is good, and I'll bet the toppings are fresher and better quality than most places, but after it goes through a pizza oven I'm not sure that's really noticeable, and you pay for it in more $/slice. I've heard their vegan and gluten-free pies are very good, but I've only had their "regular" - I'm guessing those specialty pies are a big part of their business.

Google
The pizza was average, but the quality didn’t quite match the price. While it wasn’t bad, it’s not something I’d go out of my way to order again. $1.75 per topping & they don’t even give the first one free is crazy.

Yelp
The vegetarian sausage on the pizza was amazingly seasoned that went perfectly with the sauce and hand tossed pizza dough.

Yelp
Spak Brothers is Delicious pizza for a great price! Highly recommend the pickle pizza! Everything is always fresh and quick service!

Yelp
This Vegan Illy Philly felt like some straight up vegan food today so I headed to one of my top ten favs, Spak Brothers, to give my body some vegan goodness! I'm always greeted with a smile when I go to Spak Brothers and today is no different. I decided to order a vegan cheesesteak and vegan cheese fries. Welp.....great as usual and service was exceptional. The steak was cooked well, plenty of 'meat', and seasoned perfectly. The fries were really good, not enough cheese, but really good. Spak Bros. has a nice sized vegan menu and there is public parking. It is not really an eat in restaurant and they don't open tull 3pm, but it's worth the trip and the wait.

Yelp
10/10. spak never disappoints (except every monday ;)) pittsburgh cheese "steak" & satan wings are some of my favorite food in the city.

Yelp
Come here for the pickle pizza! Everything else is pretty average in my experience (salads are standard, chicken tenders are small), but the pickle pizza is delicious and so Pittsburgh. I'd recommend ordering your pizza online (can only order online now) and grabbing a beer/bev or two at Two Frays next door while waiting. Lovely summer vibe to eat your pickle pizza in their outdoor space!

Yelp
This spot has really good pizza and I'm from NYC! I really like their buffalo chicken pie and it's great that they give you ranch with it. I prefer the vegan ranch here since that's an option. They don't use provolone in their pizza which is great! Just mozzarella. You can also get a personal size small pie which is nice. This place is a great spot for vegans too since they do great vegan pizza. Our vegan friend's life was changed when we took him here. We tried the vegan wings and I didn't like them but we probably got the wrong sauce. They are takeout only and you order online. It's pretty convenient and pickup time is pretty quick for a popular spot in the neighborhood. I wish I discovered this place sooner! It's probably my favorite pizza in town.

Yelp
Had an unexplained, very delayed order via UberEats from Spak Bros. No way to know if it was the restaurant or driver that was holding up the show. I canceled the order because I I didn't want cold food. I was charged for the whole thing. Reordered the same stuff (paying now a second time) to get hot food. Spak Bros sent the old, stale, cold food instead of remaking the order. Paid TWICE for cold grub. Very lame business practices Spak Bros. Maybe call yourselves... Skank Bros. or Stank Bros or Stale Bros or Cold-AF Food Bros or We Don't Give an F Bros or Cold Food R Us or Reheat It At Home Food Bros or Microwave Required Bros or We Hope You're Drunk and Don't Care Bros or Lukewarm Soggy Bros or We're 2 Lazy 2 Remake This Order Bros

Yelp
We got a few pizzas and brought them to the brewery next door. The buffalo chicken pizza was awesome! I was hesitant about the celery but it was really good. The ranch is delicious.

Matthew Z.

Yelp
Tasty food but my stomach can't handle it. I really wanted to like this spot - but alas. Service is quick and kind. They're usually pretty busy when I'm in. This is to go only.

Yelp
My goodness. The white pie was outstanding. Perfect blend of cheese seasoning and tomato. Nice work. Great value. Great service. Great experience

Yelp

Yelp
I was in town recently staying up in East Liberty and after a long day of having fun we came back to the hotel room and decided to get some food delivered since we were beat and didn't feel like going back out. That's when we found this place and decided to order pizza. Since I am vegan 98% of the time with the exception of some sushi every once in a while or a cheese pizza on a rare occasion, my friend saw on the menu that they had a nice variety of vegan items. I was stoked! I ended up ordering the vegan pie loaded with meats and veggies and my gosh was it good af, actually maybe the best vegan pizza I have ever had in my entire existence, truly! She had the cheese pizza and she said it was amazing too! Since we ordered on an app we didn't interact with anyone who worked there or didn't get a chance to see the brick and mortar business, but I could imagine they have a cool atmosphere from the pics I've seen. I'll definitely have another the next time I visit the Burgh! Pizza is life!!! :D 6 Stars

Yelp
This place is a dream for vegans or those with Celiac, with dairy-free and gluten-free options galore. I am neither of those things so decided to go with the regular pickle pizza I've always heard about. To be honest, I've had better pickle pizza. It was pretty good but not 5 stars. The cheese felt a little too thick and greasy, but I did enjoy that they use havarti for something different and lots of dill. I'd love to try some of the other specialty pizzas next time and give the gf/df offerings a shot. Also, they make a great ranch if you like it thick.

Yelp
Surprised there is not a review here from me. Anyway, stopped in for a couple of pizzas. Soak does a good job with sides and wings and has vegan options. We ordered a couple of basic pizzas, a white and pepperoni. The price is fair. The crust is thinner and crunchy. Both were good but similar to many pizza shops.

Donna M.

Yelp
Delicious vegan options. Cheesesteaks, pizza, wings. The best vegan options in the city.

Yelp
This is another can't miss everything I've tried here was phenomenal. We've had so many things off of their menu and not one bad experience. They have become my favorite pizza joint in the burgh.

Yelp
Best vegan buffalo seitán subs and pizza! Worth going out of my way for, which I do. I live in MD!!
google avatar

GM O.

Yelp
Best vegan wings in town! I have ordered multiples times and they never disappoint. You know it's good when one forgets to take a photo!
google avatar

Ankita S.

Yelp
It's a takeout only place. I ordered seitan wings which were delicious. I've heard that they have good vegan options as well. Quick service as well. Parking is easily available on streets.
google avatar

Yelp
Two pizza loving thumbs up!! I'm from Pgh but have lived out of state for many years. When I get home to visit, I'm always on the look out for the new places to try and eating the best food I can get. Spak Brothers was recommended by some friends she I was looking for vegan options in town. My last visit offered the perfect opportunity to try it out and I'd been dying to try the famous pickle pizza. I've tried a few pickle pizzas and this was by far the BEST one yet. It's takeout only, but you've got a great brewery a few doors down at Two Frays to take your pie and wash it down with some epic brews.

Yelp
This is an extremely popular pizzeria, especially for vegans. And it's very easy to see why: they have tons of vegan options, from vegan pizza and calzones to even wings and sandwiches. If you are a vegan, then this place should be a must-stop (you at least have to give it a try). But, I ordered a non-vegan option: the regular extra cheese calzone. First, I must make a note of the portion. This was most likely the smallest calzone I have ever bought. And, it wasn't even a 'small' size listed under their site. There is only one size for the calzones as far as I know. To add to this, it was on the slightly more expensive side at $14 dollars, which is a bit more than the calzone at Bellisarios which is absolutely huge (at least twice the size of this calzone). In terms of flavor, it was pretty good. There is definitely an adequate amount of cheese in there, both mozzarella and ricotta. The dough is made and folded in a way that reminds me a bit of empanadas (just look at the creases) but it's certainly good. No sauce on the inside, only in the side to keep it from getting soggy. Although, it was somewhat oily. There is a little puddle of butter forming in the middle when I picked it up. The sauce was quite good, but surprisingly a bit spicy. It was definitely a nice change from the average sauce and had little tomato chunks, but for some it won't be a pleasant surprise. Another note is that they do not have a cell phone and do not open for lunch. Definitely a small place on the inside but cool theming. So, do plan accordingly if you want to visit Spak. All in all, this place makes some pretty good calzones. They are quite expensive for their size, though. I'd say it's overpriced and not worth coming back unless you are vegan. If you are vegan, this may be one of your go-to spots, given there are limited amounts of places offering vegan options.

Yelp
Spak Brothers has been doing it right for a long time and while I am not vegan, I also appreciate the options they gave for folks needing that option - including stellar seitan wings. They aren't my tip pizza choice, but their pies are solid with the right ratio of toppings and reasonable price. They are definitely more "Pittsburgh style" with a thicker crust. Also major kudos for their salads, best I've had from a pizza shop in the city!

Craig E.

Yelp
Ambience is low budget, but I'm interested in good pizza and hoagies, not a fine waiting room. And the food is great Go for it!
google avatar

Maggie Z.

Yelp
An absolute must when you're in Garfield. My friends have been lauding Spak since I moved here, and I finally see why. After noticing 75% of the trivia goers at Two Frays brewery had a Spak box on their table, I decided it was finally time for me to try this infamous pizza. With countless vegan and gluten-free options, Spak really goes above and beyond to cater to all customers. I will be back very soon.
google avatar

Bethany H.

Yelp
Can't believe I waited this long to come here. The Italian hoagie was one of the best I've ever had (and I've eaten a lot of hoagies in my life)! The staff were super friendly and explained the menu for my first time there. The inside is small and meant for takeout but there are some seats and a bar along the wall to sit and wait!
google avatar

Krisha C.

Yelp
Spaks is seriously the best vegan pizza I have ever eaten from anywhere period. It's so highly addictive. Their buffalo chicken pizza is a must try. I have served this pizza to my non-vegan nieces and nephews and it is a crowd pleaser so insanely good. The sieten wings are amazing and vegan cheesy breadsticks. Spaks does not disappoint.

Yelp
Hands down one of the best pizza places I've ever tried. Spak Bros. is located near University of Pittsburgh in a great part of town with other awesome vegan/vegetarian areas and low-key spots. They have such a great menu and amazing vegan and vegetarian options. We ordered a Buffalo seitan pizza which BLEW. US. AWAY. Hands down: one of THE best pizzas I've ever had. We also got a pickle pizza which is one of the best pickle pizzas I've ever had. The prices were fare for what you get, they only do online ordering and you pick up at their location at the door. They were quick to prepare and the pizza reheated exceptionally well. Cannot wait to go back to Pitt and get Spak Bros again!!

Lori S.

Yelp
Good fresh tasting pizza and salads, but word to the wise, check your food before leaving if picking up (or before the delivery person leaves if getting delivered) to make sure it's right because they don't have a phone. Picked up a pizza and got it home to find out it was wrong, and had to drive back and get them to remake (our kid wouldn't eat it with toppings). It would have saved some time to be able to call from home so they could start making the pizza. Friendly service though. It would just be good to be able to get in touch with them.

Samantha L.

Yelp
Spak Bros is the best! So many tasty and unique vegan options that you can't get anywhere else in the city. I recently had the Buffalo seitan pizza and Cajun blackened tempeh sub and they were SO GOOD. Love also that it's super easy to customize your order by adding/removing toppings, choosing vegan options, etc. I ordered on a Friday night and it took an hour and a half for my order to be ready but it was worth it! I recommend ordering early if it's the weekend.
google avatar

Jeremy J.

Yelp
Big 5 stars for this delicious pizza. It is excellent tasting and at a value price! You can not pass up this deal. We got a large pizza and it was great! There are plenty of pizza joints and this is one of the better ones we had. Check them out!
google avatar

Ellie K.

Yelp
Small place but so busy! I'm glad we ordered ahead. We got two vegan hoagies and one regular and some seitan wings and curtly fries. They were honestly some of the best checks fries Iv'e had in my life. Everyone enjoyed they food, the hoagies were really good.
google avatar

Lauren G.

Yelp
The pickle pizza was TO DIE FOR the best part is their location right next to Two Frays Brewery, so you can order your pizza while having a beer, go pick it up, and take it back to the brewery. Can't wait to try more!
google avatar

Christine W.

Yelp
Probably the best pizza I've had in Pittsburgh! So so good, and so fresh. It was a long wait, so plan ahead!
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
We are obsessed w/ Spak Bros. We always get the pickle pizza - don't knock it til you try it. So YUMMY. We got the wings & I would def pass on them next time, but will keep coming back for the pizza.

Stephanie F.

Yelp
Spak is THE BEST. The food, the people, the place- all top notch. If I don't eat at Spak twice a month I get vertigo.
google avatar

Hannah G.

Yelp
This place was great! We order 3 pizzas to go and went to Two Frays to enjoy pizza and brews. We got the BBQ chicken, pepperoni, and a pickle pizza. The pickle pizza was so good! You definitely have to like pickles and it's more of a novelty pizza but very good! The pepperoni was a classic favorite and hit the spot. The BBQ pizza was ok. The chicken was dry so it did bring it down a bit. The flavor was good though. Overall, I would get pizza from here again I'd love to try more flavors and get that pickle pizza again!
google avatar

Devin S.

Yelp
Their seitan is unmatched! I adore their pickle pizza. I'm absolutely addicted. Truly. My partner and I order it every other Sunday, seriously. It's perfection in a pizza. The pgh seitan steak sandwich is great too. Top knotch. A++
google avatar

Dani J.

Yelp
This is our go to pizza joint! So many vegan options. Every single thing I've tried here is good. The people are always nice and take Covid seriously. I love the seitan salad and the vegan white pizza.
google avatar

Spencer S.

Yelp
Called ahead and ordered a small Margherita pizza and an Italian calzone for pick up. We arrived a few minutes earlier than we said we would but only had to wait a short time before our food was ready. Spak is a relatively small establishment with a few old timey arcade games in one corner and very limited barstool seating inside--probably best as a takeout, especially if you have a group. The music was pumping, the art on the walls was interesting, and the smell was amazing! Both dishes came out piping hot and while there wasn't a ton of flavor to the pizza sauce, the fresh herbs were nice and the crust was airy and nicely cooked! The calzone was plenty big and loaded with cheeses and meats. There was also a nice tomato dipping sauce that had what seemed like a hint of smoky flavor to it to go with it as well. Solid meal, a little more expensive than I initially planned on, but worth it!
google avatar

Greg C.

Yelp
I inhale the 12" italian once a week. I don't care how that sounds, it's the best sandwich in the city.
google avatar

Jon C.

Yelp
Had a couple subs yesterday, definitely pleased. The double meat was necessary for the cheesesteak. The 12 inch was almost too much food and I like to eat. All ordering is online, which worked pretty well. Only snag was I couldn't order hot peppers on my cheesesteak, as it wasn't an option online...though I saw it on other variations of their cheesesteak. Hots matter on all cheesesteaks lol. But yea, these are GREAT hot subs with grease coming through the bag in a good way. Could tell all the ingredients were high end, and at a fair price. Order was ready in 10 mins on a busy Saturday. Also - this place is clearly the kind of place with excellent vegan options that a carnivore would appreciate.
google avatar

Meghan M.

Yelp
My roommate and I picked up food from here last night and I really forgot how much I loved this place. For every non vegan item on the menu there is an equivalent vegan option. There are really so many things to choose from it makes it difficult to pick every time I come! Last night I tried two new things: the vegan seitan cheesesteak and the Buffalo seitan pizza. I'm so glad I especially got the cheesesteak because it was amazing! I was mostly too full from the cheesesteak to really get into the pizza yet but don't worry I will today I know it will also be amazing! The online ordering system is very easy to make sure your order is vegan with the vegan cheese and they have really good vegan ranch! My non vegan roommate said that her steak sandwich that she got was one of the best that she had ever had too. I definitely recommend this place to vegans and non vegans!

Yelp
Decent take-out place on the border of the Garfield/Bloomfield neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. It's likely you'll enjoy the Star Wars themed font and quirky-grotesque advertising art they use. However, three notes: 1. They're only open after 3 p.m., and closed on Mondays (and frequently on holidays as well). 2. This place is take-out only (caveat: there is some outdoor seating nearby in the form of a park bench and a few tables adjoining the food cart next door). 3. You have to order on a website/app in advance, whereas it would be nice if this business took cash up-front for orders or if you could place a verbal telephone order and pay on pickup. If you click on my Yelp post history, you'll notice I'm a little biased in favor of some of the other nearby-ish pizza places for this reason, but please don't take this as a dig at Spak. Spak Bros. Pizza is, however, very minimal. *That said*, this is a great neighborhood standby if you live nearby and don't want to cook. Say it's a cold, snowy winter night and you can't be bothered to grocery shop, and would rather stay indoors watching John Carpenter flicks. Then it occurs to you, "hey, I could use a pizza or wings or something like that to munch on while I watch Kurt Russell debate which of the expedition team needs to be set on fire next in case they might be The Thing." Well, at a moment like that.... you're probably going to end up hauling yourself out into the frosty evening to pick up some Spak Bros. I know their main thing is pizza, but what you REALLY want if you're in a junk food mood are their buffalo wings (which are better than any wings within the next six miles) + fries as a side. As for customer service, you won't be interacting with the staff much, but the ones you will run into generally radiate positive energy. Decent place for a quick and local fast-food fix.
google avatar

Jessica B.

Yelp
I got the gluten free dairy free pizza, was kind of expensive for only an 8 piece pizza, the cheese isn't really melted. The flavor is decent and the crust isn't bad. The only bonus is the crust is nice and fluffy.

Brad W.

Yelp
Careful when ordering over $100, they charged me a 15% fee. Pizza and seitan wings were good as always though.

Oliver L.

Yelp
The Pittsburgh sandwich is one of the greatest inventions humans have ever made. The Philly Steak sandwich was also pretty good. Prices are more than fair. New favorite spot and I haven't even tried the pizza!
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
Oh, Spak Bros. I've been coming here for about 10 years now and this place is near and dear to my heart. Spak is located right in Garfield across from the Mr. Roboto Project and right down the block from Boom Concepts. Every time one of my friends was performing at one of the local venues we ALWAYS went to Spak. That's where it all started, and here I am today just as big of a fan of Spak as I was then! You really can't miss the building with all of the bright and fun artwork all over it. One of the best things about Spak is that they have tons of amazing vegan options. The seitan wings and seitan melt are incredible, and this is coming from a non-vegan! They also have vegan cheese for their slices if you're in more of a pizza mood. I also love that they display a ton of local artwork available for purchase and have old-school pinball machines inside. It just gives it a retro-cool vibe that I think fits the surrounding area. My favorite thing to order is their pizza. Personal sized pies are fairly priced and they have an extensive list of toppings. Most recently I ordered a pizza with fresh basil and roasted red peppers on it. Amazing as usual! I'd highly recommend getting some ranch from Spak, and they even have a tasty vegan version of that, too. All-around great restaurant and one of my faves!
google avatar

Renee G.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing, and the people are great! The wing's spice is great... for me.
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I'm giving another five star review to give an update on service. You can only order online, and the wait is about 30-40 minutes. They food is better than ever. You will not find better seitan in the city. I ordered the seitan Pittsburgh steak sandwich and it was the best vegetarian sandwich I've had this whole year. The bread, the cheese, the veggies, everything was perfection. I also ordered the seitan wings with buffalo sauce and they were juicy and not too chewy, like everyone else's seitan is. I ordered way too much food and it reheated well in the oven. You can't sit inside but the food held up very well for my 25 minute drive home. These folks know how to make amazing food. I will be talking about this meal for a long time.
