15 Places in LA to Get an Amazing Meal Without Blowing Your Budget | Eater

"The newest culinary offering at the history Hotel Figueroa, Sparrow can get pricy at the upper end (not that Wagyu ribeye is going to be at dollar-menu prices anywhere), but if you stick to splitting a pasta dish and a pizza you and your plus-one will get plenty of food, an upscale dining experience and, importantly, a short walk to La Casita, the two-story bar overlooking the hotel’s iconic pool." - Vox Creative

Slow service on Xmas but me and my bf enjoyed the desserts ( fried doughnuts & the coconut sorbet with the chocolate syrup and condensed milk ) and the steak came out super rare 😭 we wanted rib eye that’s medium well and medium rare, then for the seatings was ok. The bathroom was ok. The light dimming atmosphere was good 🩷 the fresh orange juice was ok. My bf got the root beer w sugar cane was ok too. The winter salad was fun to eat and interesting to try that’s fruits and arugula which it is little bitter. The wait took a while each course was frustrating but besides that I’ll give it a generous 4 star ☺️

Google
Great overall experience! Staff are welcoming and attentive. Food is delicious offers a great variety on the menu as well decent plate proportion sizes. Restaurant is beautiful inside, with a unique seating patio outside as well as kept clean, neat and tidy. The menu is great overall but a huge favorite is the brunch menu - highly recommend! Love this restaurant and is an pall seasons kind of place that is fun in the summer as well as the fall.

Food was average, maybe slightly above. I might’ve rated the food five stars however the price to value ratio is slightly off. This restaurant has higher prices than most in the area and the portions are small. Wings were dry and overdone. Deviled eggs were tasty. The pork chop was over sauced. The Caesar salad salad was excellent. However, the staff and ambience made up for it. Our server was fantastic! The back patio is a tranquil setting ideal for a date or business meeting. I definitely recommend a visit.

Had a very tasty brunch here! Seating was comfortable and the space was nice. They have outdoor seating too. I enjoyed the smoked salmon puff pastry with scrambled eggs. The puff pastry was in great quality and I appreciated the recommendation by our server. They did forget the avocado on one of our meals, but we had a good time overall. On the more expensive end though.

Google
What an incredible experience! From the atmosphere to the service and the food and drink presentation…I felt like I got a full dining experience. All of the ingredients were fresh. I definitely recommend the deviled eggs, the yam fries (the gold sauce…OMG!) , arugula salad, oysters, and wings. I obviously could not just pick one item to eat. I very much love a good presentation for food and beverage and Sparrow delivers. I live in Tacoma and would easily drive to dine here any day of the week. Thank you Gabby and Lyndsey for great service! 10/10 recommend.

Google
My team and I visited Sparrow for a business dinner and I loved the atmosphere and vibe. The food was delicious and fresh, and our waiter was excellent and very attentive. I ordered the duck with potatoes and it was delicious!

Google
My girlfriend and I randomly stopped into Sparrow one night and ended up loving it. The vibe was on point, relaxed but still upscale and the food was top tier. I had the steak and it was cooked perfectly, and the drinks were honestly some of the best we’ve had in the area. What really made the experience stand out was our server, Michael. Super friendly, attentive, and just genuinely made the night better. We liked it so much that we came back again on New Year’s Eve for their four-course dinner with live music, and it did not disappoint. Same great atmosphere, great food, and Michael remembered us and took care of us again, which made the night even better. If you’re looking for a great date spot or just a place with good energy, great food, and high-quality service, this is it. Definitely a hidden gem in Kirkland. Highly recommend.

Google
Extremely overpriced for kind of food they serve, and service they have! We were 4 of us celebrating special occasion on new year's day. We probably paid ~$250 for our bill. Waiter served us water only 1 time in 90 min of our time there. Did not even ask or refilled the empty jug of water even once! Like many other posted here, we too got overly salty food! We had to return one of our dish to remake. In spite of telling our waiter to serve light ice in my drink they filled half of my glass with ice! They offered a complimentary dessert (only 1 specific dessert from all the options) for the occasion we were celebrating, and when we got the check it was surely added in our check! Waiter apologies after we brought to her attention and she corrected after. When we got the dessert waiter didn't even clean our table. She only took the plate but leftover food crums on the table were left just like that. No efforts were made to maintain the standards. This may be flying as fancy, high end restaurant but it doesn't cut the bar! Definitely not going here again!

Yelp
Went for Seattle restaurant week since this spot is usually out of my budget! Was crazy to see a once-dive bar turned into fine dining. They nailed the vibe in here. Dark and moody but still really elegant. We were greeted quickly by our server which was lovely. They were able to make me an espresso martini that was decaf! When the drink came out, I double checked that it was decaf and the woman (not our server) wasn't 100% sure so said our table could keep that one and that she would make us a new one. So kind! I got the devilled eggs to start. Really good, but definitely a sharing dish. The cod was good, but not sure I would pay full menu price for it as I did not find it to be very flavorful. The flourless chocolate cake had a rather small portion, btu was fantastic! Service and ambiance were top notch.

Yelp
One star for the heatlamps outside and one for managers attempt to fix it but we made a reservation on a Friday night for 730, we get seated and 20 mins later a waiter says he will come bring us water, he doesn't. Another 10 mins later the hostess brings water. Waiter walked by multiple times without even checking on us, didnt ask about drinks, appetizers, or mention specials. We even had a reservation, were seated outside, gave 1 star for the heat lamps. Smallish table, crowded and loud outside. Outside must be for overflow patrons they dont have enough staff to serve. Other tables seated after us got drinks and food etc first. Finally our waiter asks if we want to order( we were actually ready to order when he mentioned the possibility of water) Thenn after I drank so much water I had to use the restroom and came back, no bread but my wine showed up. (Ordered w dinner) after 1 hour of not being checked on or given anything but delayed water and a small glass of wine (when the waiter walked by 5+ times not acknowledging us,) we checked out with someone, and tried to try to pay for the wine and decided on taco time for dinner instead. The innocent person we flagged down on the way out grabbed the manager to rectify the situation, and he offered a chance to try them again I felt bad, until I realized they probably didnt even start cooking our food yet. At least getting the appetizer or acknowledgement would've gone a long way. They're clearly busy, understaffed and probably overbook their tables to make up for cancelations or no shows, but sometimes everyone shows up! I get that it was a Friday night at 730 but we didnt even get acknowledgement (except for the false promise of water and to take our order..this was with a reservation and everything) nothing in an hour. Very disappointed. I'm sure the food can't be worth it. Went to taco time 5 mins away and had dinner within 10 mins but now its 845pm and we wasted the night to be ignored. No photos, cuz we didnt get to even see the $8 bread appetizer....reluctant to even give them a second chance despite the raincheck the manager offered

Yelp
Stopped in for Seattle restaurant week. They were pretty busy during this time but our service was still good. It did take a bit to get food and drinks out. We had three of us that got steaks and ordered them all cooked differently and they all came out cooked the same. For four ounces wasn't worth sending it back but we didn't see any difference between the rare, medium rare, and medium steak. The food and drinks were great otherwise. It's a bummer to be charged 3% to use a credit card. I know things are expensive these days but all over it says prefer cash next to this. At this price point, I don't think many people have that much cash on them. I'd expect this at somewhere cheaper.

Yelp
Just loved the plaace and amazing food. It's a great brunch place with unique food options. Service was quick and ambiance is beautifully and cozy

Yelp
My co worker had the ribeye and it was amazing. The burrata I had was a little dry, I wouldn't order it again. Our service was good and drinks were tasty. Loved the fresh oysters.

Yelp
I had my mom's birthday brunch here and it was fantastic. Ivan was our server and he did a wonderful job checking on us and providing a special experience for my mom and our group. I ordered the avocado toast with crab added and it was so flavorful. Well-portioned too. I also ordered a vanilla latte, which was way too sweet for my taste, but was still drinkable. The lighting is very dim, which made for a very cozy atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Came for brunch on a Friday and service was good. It was pretty quiet so we had a choice of tables and sat outside. They have a few different food options, so try whatever strikes your fancy from sweet to savory. Decor was nice inside and out, and it was an enjoyable meal.

Yelp
What a beautiful night and beautiful evening. This place is in the heart of Jaunita. It used to be a fun sports bar with pools tabs, darts and fun drinks. They have since closed that restaurant and opened up Sparrow. The first time I came here I wasn't impressed. They had only been open a few weeks so it was okay, nothing to write home about. The second time I came I was very impressed. It was a nice night so we got to sit outside on the patio. We enjoyed a bottle of rose and I ordered the shrimp arugula salad which was amazing and a side of sweet potato fries. My friend got the spaghetti squash pasta which was also a fan favorite. For desert we split the bread pudding. Not enough words to describe. I will definitely come back to this place.
google avatar

Yelp
Might be a bit on the pricey side but the food is Definitely done well. The sunroom area is super cute too. This is a great spot for brunch. Can't wait to try a dinner or tasting menu sometime. Be aware that the parking is awful.

Yelp
First time dining at Sparrow for Seattle restaurant week. Excellent meal all 3 courses were fantastic, tuna tartare, wagyu filet mignon and chocolate cake. Perfect portion size. Beef with Demi glacé was superb. Friendly and efficient servers. Nice live music as well!!!

Yelp
Fantastic spot! We sat outside on their lovely patio, which was lively on a summer Friday night. The inside was beautiful, will come back for a cozy winter meal. The drinks were great, I loved the rusty nail which came smoked. The crab and shrimp salad was delicious, super light and fresh with tons of crab and shrimp and a spectacular lemon dressing. We both agreed this was one of the better salads we've had out to eat. I loved deviled eggs so I couldn't resist their truffle version. Our server Ryan was attentive and delivered top notch service. Will be back!

Yelp
This place is fairly new, has a nice vibe, great indoor and outdoor seating and friendly staff. I'm glad they were able to add the parking lot from the business park for evenings, makes it much easier to find a spot. Food is delicious, we liked the duck, dino, chicken sandwich, lamb bierra and they got really nice wings. They are pretty much on the higher end of pricing and this time, we found a extra fee on the bill. I just hate when restaurants are expensive and then add 3% credit card fees on top of that. No one ever brings cash, so please do the math and work your fees into the pricing. It's definitely new, we didn't have that on our bill the first times we came in. Definitely a turn off for us if you can't figure out appropriate pricing to cover your bases. So a meh going forward for us...

Kasey G.

Yelp
Came here for brunch and it's a cute place. It's in the old J pub spot, but redone you couldn't tell. Food was great I split the crab toast and deviled eggs. I will say the food was a little bit more expensive than I thought.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm typically not a fan of American food but was pleasantly surprised by everything we ordered from sparrow. The entrées are very pricey for what they are but happy to see they have soup sandwich options that are half the cost. We made the mistake on going on Mother's Day so the service was a little bit delayed and one of the protein entrée took a little bit longer to grill. Overall, the ambience was really nice. The food was delicious and I would happily go back here, although probably not for an entrée.

Yelp
Sparrow is in the heart of Juanita and is a stylish restaurant with great views of the water. I came here for a dinner for a birthday dinner and was impressed by the ambiance. We decided to order the truffle pasta, risotto, clams and the prosciutto pizza. All of it was bursting with flavor and absolutely divine. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and our server gave great recommendations.

Yelp
This restaurant is a good pick ! Great cocktails and the food was awesome. Staff is friendly and attentive. I recommend the bread pudding - it was delicious ! Nice cool vibe , good date spot !

Yelp
The food and ambiance are wonderful! Learned about this place a couple weeks ago and have already visited several times - brunch, happy hour, and dinner. Everything we've had so far exceeded expectations!

Yelp
Love this place. Off from the beaten path in Kirkland. Fantastic good and service. large outdoor seating and covered desk. The interior is dark and sensual. Great for dates and gatherings.

Yelp
Overall: nice and clean aesthetic. Uninspired food and regrettable service. They did offer to comp several of our items though, so increasing to 3 stars. Food: 2/5 Banana pancakes were a little dry and lacked significant butter flavor. One order came without syrup. Strange. Steak, eggs and hash browns had an overcooked steak and seemed very uninspired for the price. The breakfast board was decent, no complaints. The Napoleon was overwhelmingly custard/cream and next to no pastry, which led it to be highly imbalanced in flavors. Service: 2/5 I think they were understaffed. We ran out of water several times. The food took a really long time to come out. Ambiance: 4/5 Nice touches of nature with plant walls!

Yelp
Second time here and have to say expected a lot from such good yelp reviews here... The good: the server Michael was amazing , and could not have been any nicer or more attentive. The bad: THE FOOD! Tuna tar tar had an extremely fishy and unpleasant odor and taste along with the color as you can see in the poster photos. The "Foccacia" bread is a sad far cry away from craft Italian homemade bread... what we got was bread that was reminiscent of a a frozen section market. We also had the muscles and sausage which my gf had one really fishy sandy muscle which ruined the rest of that dish. Nothing taste like it had any effort or love. The laughable bread of discount market loaf quality and the fact that every single dish came ice cold. Even the soul was Luke warm at best and I hate to complain if something has potential. This place needs a vibe boost and culinary refresh to the menu or even hire a baker who knows how to bake simple bread. The desserts were the best part and the flourless chocolate cake and banana bread pudding were the ONLY saving graces for this restaurant. Would love to return when things change and they take themselves more serious as an upscale restaurant

Yelp
Really cute brunch spot! I loved the outdoor atrium on a cool spring day- getting light but staying warm. I look forward to the outdoor patio in summer! There is quite a bit of parking but I imagine even that might fill up on a busy day. There are many choices for brunch and I enjoyed the crab avocado toast. The doughnut holes were a good item to share as a sweet end to the meal. Will definitely go again!
google avatar

Carolina A.

Yelp
Went for Sunday brunch to celebrate my friend's birthday. I ordered the crab avocado toast and thought it was pretty good, except the bread was really hard to cut with a knife. This dish is listed under small plates so it is definitely small but very tasty. My friend ordered the shrimp salad and I though the portion was a good size. I had coffee and was surprised they did but comeback with a refill. I had to flag the server. To be fair, it got pretty busy. They've done a great job with the decoration, the patio is super cute and spacious, plenty of shade and it feels private which is nice. Definitely recommend it and will probably comeback for dinner or lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
First off, Ivan was awesome and very considerate moving people around to avoid the hot sun and still meeting all my requests while doing so. I ordered the Brunch Board and a bottle of mimosa fresh squeezed and bubbly from Flama D'Or cava. The board arrived with fig jam yoghurt sockeye salmon berries prosciutto and deviled eggs and it felt elegant but chill. Staff were warm and chatty and the ambient deer‑moss wall with dim lighting made brunch feel like a cozy Pacific Northwest love letter with a smirk. I left wondering if Kirkland finally got what Seattle feels like.
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to give Sparrow one more try before moving out of the area and we were once again disappointed. Not sure what happened around this time last year, but the quality of the food has dipped way below what it was when they first opened. The only thing saving the experience for us were the drinks and our waiter, Ryan. I will say for a Tuesday it was slow, but they still were short staffed. There were tables waiting an extremely long time to speak to a sever and even had to go to the bar to ask for someone. I ordered the scallops and pork belly with polenta, which used to be my go to dish. The scallops were undercooked, rubbery and under seasoned. The jam overpowered a lot of the other flavors. While the pork belly was mostly dry. Too bad to see what has happened to this once unbelievably delicious spot, especially since they have done so many upgrades to the outside patio. Was hoping there would be some redemption!
google avatar

M L.

Yelp
The food was decent but was very overpriced, if not for the price I may come back, but the food did not justify the price here. The ambiance was nice but there was a manger turning the volume up one minute and the next minute an employee would turn the volume of the music down, it just seemed a bit unprofessional and odd for a place this nice, and it was noticeable during our whole meal. The presentation of the food was nice and so was the staff, no complaints there There was also an added gratuity for our party size which was quite a bit, the price of a whole other meal, so this kind of rubbed me the wrong was as a tip is usually based on discretion. Then there is a line to add more of a tip (in addition to the added gratuity) which felt a bit rude. Overall good food and atmosphere, but could improve on a few things.
google avatar

Roberth K.

Yelp
Searched for "cozy" restaurants on the Eastside and was suggested this place. It did not disappoint! Lovely atmosphere, tables far enough apart that you felt intimate at your own table and did not constantly get distracted by your neighbors. Low light in general, but bright enough at the table itself that you didn't feel like you were dining in the dark. Service was good, our server attentive and just the right amount of chatty/friendly vs "leaving you alone to your company". Food was good, nothing spectacular. Maybe a little on the pricier side of what it could actually live up to. The menu feels a little random in its composition, not really settling on a cuisine or theme. But if you want a wide range of options to choose from, this works.
google avatar

Epi L.

Yelp
Had brunch here after the Shamrock run. They were mostly empty. There is a nice sized covered patio with heaters where they sat us. We had a variety of items from breakfast burrito to pancakes to chilaquiles to biscuits and gravy. The potatoes were a big hit. Everyone liked their food but we had to ask a few times for coffee refills. Service wasn't super fast but the waiter was nice. Coffee was good. One member noticed a cracked glass halfway through their drink (cracked all the way around the glass) and while they offered to replace it (the person declined) they also didn't deduct it off the bill. Hopefully there were no shards in the drink itself. The ambiance inside was nice. Hard to believe it was once a dive bar. Interesting drinks, and while brunch prices were ok if a little on the high side, be aware that dinner entrees are a lot more.

Yelp
Enjoyed a wonderful brunch here a few months ago with family. Beautiful space the living walls a gorgeous we sat inside but there is cute seating in the back outside. Was nice that it was walking distance from my sister's place. First off we loved our waitress very attentive and informative when we asked questions about the menu. Two of us got the lamb birria chilaquiles, one got the chicken and waffle, and the last got the avocado toast with side of fruit. Also shared the doughnut holes which are made to order. Portions were generous and avocado toast had more crab on it than we expected. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I have a friend that visits often for dinner. definitely would be back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
First a quick shoutout to our awesome hostess Gabbie, little bit of a wait out front but nothing too bad as we came in for brunch. There was plenty of room mostly indoor but they do have a good looking outdoor patio that we may try in future. Let's get to the food Donuts 9/10 fried dough what more could you want weeeeeell I'll tell you, they were fluffy and warm and all the goodness but they either need more powdered sugar (rolled not dusted) or better accompanying sauces (not maple and condensed milk) oohhh or sugar cinnamon Chicken and waffles 10/10 loved how well done both these items were done I do wish the chicken was seasoned more but not enough to take away from the entire experience Chilaquiles 10/10 perfect amount of savory punch for the morning. Vibrant and tasty the tortilla's were nice and crisp and in no way soggy before they came to the table Will be back for sure

Yelp
We had a fabulous brunch here last Sunday. Really nice, modern and relaxing atmosphere. Love the booths! Neat open bar - with big screens. Awesome patio. Menu was extensive and very interesting. Not just the same old same old. Very friendly and efficient service. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
I love that there's enough street parking nearby just in case you don't find a spot right at the entrance. I had been meaning to try this place for a while now...so glad hubby and I came here for a lunch date during the week. It wasn't busy so we got to decide where we wanted to be seated. Our server was super friendly and helpful when it came to us to deciding what draft beer we wanted to try. I got the mushroom burger and it was so good and filling! Highly recommended! Ambiance is cute, and the restaurant is spacious. I'll be back!

Yelp
Sparrow is hands-down one of the best restaurants I've been to in a long time. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a cozy, modern vibe that makes you want to stay all day. The menu is a perfect blend of classic American comfort food with creative twists that keep things exciting. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender. If you're looking for a good app to try, the truffle deviled eggs were spectacular! I've also been for brunch and had the crab avocado toast which was amazing and had a huge pile of crab on top. The service was genuinely friendly without being overbearing. You can tell the staff takes pride in what they do, and it really shows. If you're looking for a place to relax, indulge, and enjoy really thoughtful food, Sparrow should be at the top of your list.

Yelp
Our first time here and I am so happy that that I chose to come to Sparrow The avocado toast with crab is delicious + the cascioppo link sausage really hits the spot. Oh did I mention the poached egg was perfectly cooked Chicken and Waffle is definitely delicious especially love it when the waffle comes out nice and crispy on the outside and not soggy. We both had coffee. In my opinion the coffee was a little too fruity for me and the waitress was very accommodating she switched out my coffee to tea. Thank you Love ambience the moss walls were really nice very welcoming Love this place looking forward to comeback and try the dinner menu Best brunch experience

Yelp
A group of 6 went on a Thursday night and it was pretty empty, except for the outdoor seating which is where we sat. We made reservations about 2 weeks in advance and it was wide open. We had: 1) spicy guacamole - 3/5. Not that spicy and not that special. 2) truffle fries - 3/5. Good portion, but not crispy enough. 3) mussels with sausage - 4/5. Good flavor, but the mussels were small. Would've liked plumpier mussels and less sausage. 4) shishito peppers - 3/5. Couldn't quite figure out how they cooked them. Maybe they were baked in the oven? I prefer them blasted over fire. 5) chopped salad - 3/5. Not memorable. 6) steak - 4/5. Really tender, but salty. 7) rigatoni - 5/5. Best of the bunch. Yummy flavor. 8) scallop & pork belly - 4/5. Pork was a little dry, but scallops were tender and grits (?) were good. 9) donut holes - 4/5. Yummy. 10) crème brûlée - 4/5. Nice crispy sugar top. We all shared this along with a bottle of Prosecco. With tip, came out to $77pp. The entrees are on the pricy side, but service was good as was the ambiance so I'll give it a 4. Food alone would've been 3.

Yelp
A very memorable meal, part of the Seattle Restaurant Week. The truffle deviled eggs first course were outstanding. My wife had swordfish, I had waggyu beef, both were amazing. The service was impeccable.

Yelp
We went to Sparrow for the first time during Seattle restaurant week and had a great night there. They have a small parking lot on site but there is a commercial property right next to the restaurant and allows restaurant customers to park there after 5 PM on weekdays and all day on weekends so parking really isn't a problem if you go there for dinner. Our server was Ryan and he was great, energetic, checking in us just the right amount. We ordered from the Seattle restaurant price fixed menu along with spicy guacamole from their regular menu. The food was good. Their price point is also just right so it was good value without sacrificing taste. I didn't pay attention to their regular menu price to say if that is also true. Some improvements they could make in their food such as the sea scallops we had. It was a little overcooked and became a bit chewy. Overall I would say this is a great place to visit and we plan to visit again for brunch in the near future.

Floris

Yelp
I love the food and ambiance ! We were seated in the dining area and the seats were comfortable. The service was great as well I just can't remember our server's name. The creme brûlée was delicious and freshly made ; still warm! If you order the sliders and are an onion lover like me I suggest you order them with both raw onions and pickled onions! yumm

Sheri H.

Yelp
Had a business dinner here. They take reservations which was really useful. I have pics from the full group of what they had. Shared the chips and guacamole and hummus with the group. I had a pasta entree that was on the small side - glad I had some of those appetizers. No dessert for me. Everyone reported they enjoyed their food. The only cons were the ladies restroom is really cramped where the stall door is 2 inches from your face and my colleagues were told they were the first to arrive when I had already checked in and was standing right behind them in the dining area. Would come back and try other dishes. Server was attentive and patient with those who were indecisive. Small parking lot. Construction happening next door, but there is street parking available.

Yelp
Sparrow Burger: ordered medium, it was well done. Egg was well done. Typically, a "hangover burger" should have the egg over easy so it's dripping down the sides when you cut into it. Overall, very little flavor to the well done burger - even with the aioli added very little flavor. Fries were excellent. Biscuits and gravy: good flavor. Ambiance: 5stars. Love what they've done to the place but they need to work on quality of preparation.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a friendly and attentive service we got and what a pleasant atmosphere! We thought the appetizers were a great start but the entrees did it for us! Everything was so delicious! First time here for dinner and would recommend to everyone!

Yelp
These guys open in the summer of '23 but I was so busy, I did not have a chance to check them out even though they're only a few blocks from my house. My wife had a girls night if you weeks ago so I finally decided to stop in and I'm sure glad I did. The decor is upscale, but not stuffy. Sparrow works as both a nice neighborhood hangout as well as a date spot. They have a nice lounge and a large dining area. The menu is really diverse, meats, pastas, salads, and seafoods and large selection of appetizers. I was really surprised by the variety given this is a neighborhood restaurant. Since it was just myself I went with the lamb quesabirria (QB) and a side of roasted vegetables. I cannot believe how delicious the QB was. Wonderfully seasoned and super tender Anderson valley lamb leg, that the bartender said they braise for many hours. This was shredded put inside a homemade corn tortilla green and white onions, Mexican cheese, then then melted together. It's served the traditional way like down in Tijuana with a bowl of the broth that you can spoon over the QB or dip it in. The broth was wonderfully delicious I ended up putting it on top of my QB's to stop up all the deliciousness. I would certainly come back and order this again. The roasted veggies were good as well nothing spectacular about them just basically done tossed in olive oil and seasoning then oven roasted made a good side dish to the QB. I love my beer as well Ruben's roasted Porter which had really nice coffee and chocolate undertones. The bartender was very nice too. I had first ordered the Stout, since that's what I usually like but it was extremely bitter; way too bitter for a stout. Sso he changed it out for me and no charge. Great place I highly recommend and I cannot wait to come back with my wife to have a date night here, in the dining room.

Yelp
We had the Raspberry Fields Forever and a Pretty money to start with avocado burrata. The drinks were good, although a little sweet (I just like a more tart cocktail) and the burrata delicious! We had the rigatoni and the pork chop as entrees with a Passarella and a Brand and Brine. Both delicious with food, the Passerella being still a LITTLE sweet but again, personal preference. The food was very good, quite well seasoned. Pasta delicious and pork chop very well cooked and the mustard apple sauce delicious. Would get again!

Yelp
Food was impressive. Service was decent. Ambiance is great. Area of improvement: rather than bringing out all items at the same time, space them out just a tiny bit. We ordered a bunch: Charcuterie board Lamb birria Burrata Focaccia bread Shishito peppers Garlic steak fries Steak sandwich Kids chicken tenders Creme brûlée Marionberry sorbet Flourless chocolate cake I would return but will ask specifically that they pace rather than bringing all at once and crowding the table.

Yelp
Nice decor and atmosphere but to be honest I wasn't a huge fan of the food. I may be uncultured but new American is always a little hard for me to grasp. It felt like a random assortment of dishes with none of them being as good as what I might find at their respective cuisines. Service was a little slow/not what I expected for the price point, but it might just be an expensive neighborhood

Yelp
The atmosphere is everything at Sparrow! We have needed a solid outdoor spot in this area for ages and Sparrow delivers! The building is unassuming when you pull up, but they have transformed this one-time dive bar into an upscale oasis! I came in here for happy hour which got me $2 off my beer and $3 off their shareable plates. We tried the lamb birria (nothing special) and the buffalo wings (surprisingly tasty). I could definitely see this place becoming my go to brunch spot!

Yelp
We went to Happy Hour today and had a really wonderful experience! We ate on the gorgeous flower filled patio. Servers were charming, funny and so accommodating. We loved our food choices - Wagu sliders and a lamb taco both delicious and memorable. Absolutely excellent experience!

Yelp
Came on a Tuesday night for dinner at 7PM and there was no wait and lots of tables available. We were a table of 5 and sat in the back covered patio area. I got the A Path In The Wild mocktail for $12, love the bitter notes but was also refreshing with the lemonade. It was also a pretty orange colour. For appetizers we got Mussels and sausage - the mussels were delicious and plump. It tasted really fresh and was probably my fav dish Burrata and avocado - solid, can't go wrong and big serving Tuna tartar - big chunks of tuna, seasoned well and served with taro chips For mains I got the pork chop. It was a big hearty serving. The mashed potatoes were buttery was delicious. The pork chop itself was good, does the job, ever so slightly on the dry side but not bad. The appley miso sauce it came with was really good and added so much flavour. For appetizers we got Banana bread pudding - warm, dense and light at the same time and served with vanilla ice cream. love the warm and cold Donut holes - super light and airy, great for sharing and nibbling Creme brulee - solid, really creamy and was a fan favourite at the table Overall the food was solid but frankly forgettable, it was good but I'm not running to come back with the other choices in the area but they do allow dogs in the back patio area!
