Yelp
I wish I could give a higher rating for this place...the location and ambiance were the highlights by far. Would still make a great stop for a date or place to bring out of town guests for a rooftop (pricey) drink. We had reservations for a table, and were greeted by a red velvet rope and security guard to enter the elevator from the lobby. Upon reaching the 6th floor, there was a hostess station (similar setup to Cane & Barrel) managing all seating, including access to the bar.
Once seated, we were offered food menus only and had to ask for drink menus. Our server said she would "go find us one," as though this was a big undertaking. After an extended wait, our party of 4 was presented with ONE drink menu to share. It was a hefty menu, which was poorly designed because it did not stay open without considerable effort.
We ordered a Dirty Is A Safe Word martini from the 'group format' page of the menu that was supposed to serve 2-3. It had a strong yeasty aftertaste and we didn't finish it. After ordering several other cocktails from the menu, the Sex in Tokyo was our favorite. Will stay away from ordering any of the drinks from the menu and stick with the classics next time.
On to the food...we ordered a mix of items from each section of the menu to get a good feel of the kitchen...from a very standard/simple edamame starter (which did not end up arriving until almost the end), chicken skewers (nothing special and absurdly small portion), duck bao buns (comes only as 3 and unable to add a 4th when we asked the server, did not have hoisin as described, pretty ordinary), crispy rice and tuna tartare (which was the winning dish of the night by far!). We also ordered 2 of the sushi rolls, but they took so long to come -- we had ordered everything together -- so by about an hour and a half in, we told the server not to worry about figuring out where/if our rolls were coming. The same thing happened with one of the last drinks we ordered...it never came, so we asked for the check and called it a night.
Keeping in mind they have only been open a few days, I'll give them another shot for a classic/standard drink, but will give them some time to work out the kinks. Has the potential to be great, so I'm hoping they make the necessary adjustments to be successful!
Meant to take more food photos, but forgot!
