"This Italian trattoria in Highland veers Sicilian in its cuisine and offers a well-rounded wine list. The current operators of the space maintain its previous owners’ rustic finishes, including a corner fireplace with stone detailing." - Gigi Sukin, Josie Sexton

The outside appearance of this place is misleading. The dining room is nicer than the strip mall front would lead you to believe. Everything we ate here was absolutely amazing. Brings me back to Italy. We will certainly be coming back and telling all of our friends about this place! We loved it! WE LOVED IT!!

Stopped in for happy hour and loved the experience. Helpful staff, good wine recommendation, and interesting appetizer. I sat outside and enjoyed the afternoon sun, so I cannot comment on the indoors, though they seemed airy and nice.

This little neighborhood gem is too good to keep secret. The Highlands neighbors are fortunate to be within walking distance. A creature of habit, I always order the Carbonara or the mushroom risotto, and have never been disappointed. While that is what I order, I have probably tasted most of the menu and it is all delicious. Family owned and ran, Franco Carlos and all have created a warm, inviting, affordable option. You will not be sorry, just be prepared to wake up in the middle of the night craving the arancini balls

We had a great experience here. The atmosphere is great, and the food was absolutely outstanding. Our waiter was on top of things as well so across the board this was really awesome. We will be back for sure. Note- with the kitchen being open and how you pass it as you enter and leave, we took a moment to chat with the chef as we left. I recommend doing that if you go here.

Outstanding waitstaff. Good Food, solid atmosphere. Food is fantastically flavorful. Served at just the right moment by an enthusiastic waitstaff, and watched over by an ever-attentive chef who seems to deeply care about his craft. My last review was a bit harsh. My first trip must have been on a bad night. I've been back 4 times or so now, and this is definitely a 5 star place :)

What happened to this place? I've dined there a few times but, lately, I've only had take out from these guys and it's been delicious. With that being said, I tried to go back a couple weeks ago to dine in since I knew the foods good and turned out to be a really poor experience. We walked in to the entrance area that overlooks the open kitchen and up to the hostess station. We waited for nearly ten minutes - waiters came by and grabbed things from the hostess station, cooks occasionally looked up and went about their business but no one said a single thing. No "hang tight, we'll be right with you", no "Let me see where the hostess is", literally nothing from the 6-8 people that noticed us standing there. I finally asked one of the cooks whats going on and he waved up the girl who was the hostess from the back. The hostess told us it was going to be about 20-30 minutes before we would get a table which wasn't a big deal at all. We sat in the waiting area and asked the hostess if we could order a glass of wine while we waited. She told that the wait staff was busy and it was unlikely they would be able to get us a glass of wine. At that point we sad F this and left. We had a great dinner down the street at Spuntino where the owner seemed to have a magical ability to work the hostess station, the kitchen and the front of house. Unfortunately, Spatola seems to be a great example of great food ruined be the people who work there.

They have a lot of work to do if they are going to be successful with so much competition. The service is definitely lacking. Went on a Friday evening and there were not many people eating there. So why was the service so slow? Why did the table next to us have to keep asking if they could get their table cleaned from prior customers mess? I had to ask for a glass of wine from the hostess because our server was missing in action. It took for ever because she said there wasn't any clean wine glasses. Well here's an idea, get someone to clean off all the empty tables. Food was mediocre , price was ok. I would not go back.
