Surprise gem for English football but also for the food which was incredibly tasty. Better than usual bar food, had wonderful gently spicy pork skewers, perfect shrimp tacos with a super tasty sauce and even the sliders were a cut above. Our server was perfect, and kindly not only put our game on the nearest TV but also made it so we could enjoy the commentary too. Really appreciated that. Don't be fooled by the weirdly cold exterior, come on in for a terrific friendly bar.

Good food and atmosphere. It’s got a cozy, dimly lit classic bar vibe. Definitely the spot for soccer games. The food can be a bit slow, so if you go during your lunch hour I’d recommend putting your order in quickly. The pit boss wrap is so good. Update: Unfortunately this place has done a major menu change, and not for the best. We’ve tried out the new menu twice now and were disappointed both times. Most recently we tried the sticky chicken sandwich… it was honestly the worst chicken sandwich we’ve ever had. Just downright gross. They’ve also scaled down the portions. Wont be back to this one.

Really enjoyed the well made breakfast items. Unusual combinations and quality ingredients. Friendly service and very accommodating. Definitely worth a visit.

This is simply the best place to go for weekend brunch and meet some new friends. No interest in soccer? Absolutely no problem. Most people here early to watch a match will be happy to explain whats going on. Food is first rate, if a little expensive. Highly recommend the Filibuster (a weekly brunch special that runs you about $15-20) for fun and variety. Good location (street parking is FREE on weekends) and walkable from downtown.

The Crunchwrap and the Turkey sandwich are pictured. Pretty good food- I wish the crunch-wrap was filled with more chicken and less bean dip. Drinks are excellent. Kat was an awesome waitress!

Google
Came in for brunch and had Kathryn as our waitress. She was absolutely amazing and did an incredible job! I would recommend this place to any of my friends. 10/10 for service and food! Thank you, Kathryn, for the amazing experience and being the best waitress!

Google
This is a speakeasy in every sense of the word, tucked away off Monroe it is a great place to go have a drink and enjoy a good band. The bartender can make whatever you like in the spirit of the old speakeasies, and the service is awesome!

Google
We were in town for a shed builder expo and this place was on the walk between our hotel and the convention center. Food was mediocre at best but it was not expensive. Drink menu was kind of limited as well. The service however, was great! We had some great conversation with the bartenders and who I think might have been the owner sitting at the bar working on his laptop. It was a really cool atmosphere so we would give the food another chance just because it has so much else going for it.

Yelp
Excellent service and cool soccer atmosphere. We went for my boyfriend's birthday to watch Real Madrid and they put the game on all the screens in our view which was so nice. I'm not a big soccer fan but the food and drinks were SO GOOD that we already have plans to make our way back soon. They're very reasonably priced our bill was under $75 and we each had breakfast as well as a couple of drinks and shots each. My boyfriend said their diet coke was the best he ever had, highly recommend!

Yelp
SpeakEZ Lounge is Grand Rapids' worst-kept secret--and I mean that in the best way. Admittedly, I've only ever been for brunch, but after four years of frequent visits, it's cemented itself as one of my favorite spots. My only complaints? The brunch menu could use a bit more variety, and the McGuffin could pack a little more flavor punch. That being said, the pros far outweigh the cons: the service is always on point, the drinks are a fair price and the dark, cozy atmosphere is perfect for a slow Sunday morning. Honorable mention - The Saint Germain Spritz? Let's just say I dream about it.

Emily J.

Yelp
We went to Speak EZ for brunch right when they opened this past Saturday and were seated right away. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday morning. We ordered a little bit of everything, and it was all amazing! I loved the casino royale and the queso burrito.

Katy C.

Yelp
I still love SpeakEZ Lounge even though I don't frequent it as much these days. I was really sad to see they got rid of the lunch special, but I understand. These times are tough! They also removed the grilled cheese sandwich from the menu completely which was devastating - that was by far my favorite grilled cheese in all of GR! Please bring it back! That said, I went recently for lunch and really enjoyed the Crispy Sister, a grilled ham and swiss sandwich served with a cup of white cheddar mornay dipping sauce - omg yum. Served with chips, it's a hearty lunch. The food menu has definitely evolved a lot since I started coming here and it's not your typical sports bar menu, that's for sure. They have items for vegans and vegetarians, as well as gluten free options. Picky eaters might have a tough time here, but I love all the food I've tried. Their Saturday & Sunday brunch was always a favorite of mine, and I really need to check it out again soon because the new menu looks incredible. They host a yearly Tigers home opener party which I've been to several times, this year's was super fun. They have a stadium menu of brats and hot dogs and cheap beers, and the crowd is lively. Parking can be a bit tricky so you'll want to plan to pay at a metered spot and walk a bit. They're known as the football club bar so they open for early morning football matches! They also have live music and other special events. A cool unique spot in town.

Yelp
Food is decently portioned , served hot and full of flavors around the world! We ordered an American Fuck Yeah foot long dog and a Lewandowski polish kielbasa... Ready, set, go! The USA Fuck Yeah reminds you loosely of a Chicago dog. chili, mustard onions, tomatoes, sport pepper relish (spicy), celery and poppy seeds! The hot is the tiniest one I have never seen (width of my pinky finger). Wonderful flavors fa real. The Lewandowski was a nice sized sausage was topped with excellent sauerkraut, beer cheese, scallions and several lil fried pierogies ... Loved it! The service is friendly but if its swamped, its slow so understand. we came during a soccer match and with great moves, the place was deafeningly LOUD! ALL GOOD FUN!!! I hear they have nice happy Hour with live music... So will return!

Kelli K.

Yelp
Met up with a friend here and it was super tasty. It was not very busy at all for a Friday night, so I appreciated that. Our server was very nice and accommodating. I love that you are able to turn any salad into a wrap, and their drink menu was good too! It was dimly lit inside and very loud, but I think that's what you'd expect when you hear the term "speakeasy". This is not a speakeasy in the sense that it has a funny looking door or anything, it is very easy to find.

Nichole M.

Yelp
There is a parking lot across the street or street parking. Saturday was a free day so we didn't have to pay to park. Short distance from the truck and up the stairs it opens up into a large restaurant/ bar area. This is a soccer bar, sports bar, friendship group activities bar. Lots of TVs, benches and tables. Love the vibe and service. The menu was very vegan friendly but provided meat eater options. All questions were answered and suggestions offered. Our bill was a few dollars over $100 with a tip. We had lavender Fields, cocktail, Margarita cocktail and rum/coke. Crab cakes and the three beef tacos with the blueberry shortcake for dessert. The food was tasty. Definitely get what you pay for.

Yelp
Don't let the atmosphere fool you. SpeakEZ Lounge is a spot that's super easy to pass by but once you're on, you'll be on! Great service with tasty food and drinks. I've never had one meal that I have not enjoyed here. They love traditional football (aka soccer) here so don't expect anything else to be on the tvs . Weekend brunch is always a winner. They don't take reservations, so plan your day accordingly.

Bri K.

Yelp
A speak east and a soccer (football) bar - what a combination but it works! Decor is dark and wooden, and the bar is decorated with wines and scarves. For being THE soccer bar in GR I'm surprised there aren't more tvs. They also have a mini stage im assuming for comics and other small shows. The food is delicious! We went for brunch and will definitely be back. Delicious flavors and it was so much food we had leftovers. Only downside was surprise onions in the meal (not an onion fan). Drinks were fanatic as well. Their smoked old fashion ranks in my top 10 of Grand Rapids. Parking is on the street (parallel) and you have to pay unless it's weekends. Service was good. Server apologized for drinks being slow even though we thought they arrived in a perfectly fine manner. Will be back!

Scott` B.

Yelp
Some of the best vegan food in town. The service is always friendly and fast. One of our favorites in town.

Jayson D.

Yelp
Their food is surprisingly good! Or maybe you shouldn't be surprised. I don't know. But I know I loved what I ate. Stopped in last Saturday to kill some time before the local Broadway show. A dozen or so craft beers on tap backed by a full bar. SpeakEZ claims two apps as specialties, and they both were killer! The curry sliders come unfinished. Stuff the slider buns to your liking. The pork is super flavorful and the pickled veggies lent a great kick. You'll also love the bacon goat cheese dip. Add a couple drinks and you'll easily fill two tummies. Love the laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. I'd go back! Staff were friendly and helpful.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Pretty standard food. It wasn't outstanding but filled me up for the evening and the service was really good. Workers were super friendly and fast! The ambiance was dark and just reminded me of a typical bar.

Kurt G.

Yelp
A great place to eat and drink during soccer or football games. Happy hour specials well. Good options are varied but tasty and creative. Servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and cater to your tastes. Place is a bit dark but adds to the experience.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Speak EZ is still a very solid brunch spot; serving up great food with veggie/vegan options, $5 mimosas and staffed with lovely folks. Kat was delightful today and made sure we were taken care of, she added to the experience for sure :) The traditional OJ mimosas were perfect, not too sweet and exactly what we wanted. For a $1 upcharge you can choose grapefruit, pineapple or cranberry-pom. Also, this is located just outside of downtown which makes for very easy parking (a ton of street options)!

Andrew C.

Yelp
It has been awhile since we last were here but the atmosphere and food was just how we remembered- fantastic. We got there for dinner and we're setting up for some live music (it actually never started while we were there but heard a few practice songs- not bad). Started with bloody Mary's and ordered the bruschetta starter: highly recommend! Our server was Teagan I believe and she was phenomenal, very friendly and fun and light hearted; not imposing but checked in frequently to make sure we were good throughout. The food was great and tasty with lots of flavor. Check out the pictures but the brisket Mac and cheese was very delicious and tried the hot tacos for the contest, they were pretty good but not as filling. This place has a wonderful menu and cozy/intimate atmosphere, would definitely recommend!

Daniel D.

Yelp
Came in for Sunday Brunch after the Bridge Run. The menu looked promising and it really delivered! The Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict is served on jalapeño cornbread and it is inspired. The Blueberry French toast is made out of a fried long John and had a nice lemon zest as well. Just outstanding plates. Also, side note, we had a large group (16) and our server was absolutely fantastic. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Melissa B.

Yelp
It's been a couple years since I had been hear but happy to be back for another delicious brunch. I had a friend in town who has a dairy allergy and this place was super accommodating to her dietary needs and were able to adjust her order accordingly! There was a wait when we got there (Saturday morning around 10:30AM) but we did not wait longer than 20 minutes. I had a mimosa with grapefruit juice and it was delicious though I felt it was a little pricey. For my meal, I got the Casino Royale (sausage patties and cheese between their crème brûlée French toast. Topped with an egg and syrup) and it was literally SO good. It hit the spot in both the sweet and savory direction. I was so pleased with it and would definitely order again. The breakfast potatoes were pretty average but still buttered up and tasty.

Tiki T.

Yelp
Very nice to catch upwith your besties, the drinks were water down, Since they raise the price of the cocktails at least they can make it better. With that said, I'm not too impressed. not sure if I ever return.

Chantel M.

Yelp
Great service. Drinks are strong... but not balanced. Good prices. Loved the dip. Slightly disappointed that the grilled chicken I added to my salad was cold. My friend's "roasted" Brussels sprouts were def reheated in the microwave. They were mushy. I think the food is good, but maybe the kitchen is cutting some corners in the back. I'd give it another try. That dip was like crack.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Ordered a cup of French onion soup and a side of the falafel cakes. The soup was very flavorful with great umami. Instead of the the usual crouton and Swiss cheese topping, it can with what I'll describe as a folded cheese quesadilla in like a thick phyllo dough instead of tortilla. It was ok, but I prefer the traditional crouton and cheese topping. The falafel cakes were ok. They were pretty thin and a little dry. Probably wouldn't order again: I ordered a side but got the app instead which was $6 more than I was expecting. The server was nice but she didn't write down my or my friend's order. Maybe that was the mix up. The atmosphere reminded me of a established dark bar and grill in Chicago or some urban setting which is a plus in my book. They have a pretty extensive menu, and I would come back again to try something different.

Jessica G.

Yelp
This was my first visit back in a couple of years and I went to try the new lunch menu. I ordered the paratha tacos (one beef and one chorizo). It came with a side of sauce, a chopped pico salsa, cilantro rice and a side of birria dipping broth in a cup. The tacos reminded me of a quesadilla- a light crisp outside, folded in half and stuffed with meat and cheese. I opened up the taco and added salsa and sauce - it was delicious! I tried dipping, but it was difficult to dip without toppings falling out. I gave 4 out of 5 stars mainly due to how long it took for our food to come out. I could tell that they had made lunch fresh, so that was good. I just think for what it was, it should have been quicker. My friend got the falafel appetizer and a cup of soup- she also liked her meal.

Carey V.

Yelp
Why this place doesn't have a full five stars yet I don't know. Hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. Sinfully delicious, awesome vibe, enthusiastic soccer fans and a friendly kickass crew. Service was awesome. Can't wait to come back.

Mollie S.

Yelp
Great service, fun atmosphere, and home of the best Green Tea shot in Grand Rapids! Love going here for soccer!

Andrea M.

Yelp
Walked over to have a cocktail after eating lunch at Roam (highly recommend) on a Friday afternoon. Our waitress was so pleasant and helpful with menu options. We got the old fashioned and the doom of valyria. The unique flavors in the old fashioned proved why it is a fan favorite! And the doom had dramatics with smoke and was delicious. We will return for dinner and more drinks :) Great place

Julia G.

Yelp
Such a fun soccer bar, a great atmosphere. I got the The Macguffin which the waitress said was the most popular, it was really good! The truck stop omelette also looked good. During the euros they have an around the world menu and the corn on a cob was yummy, I'd check it out. No complaints, service is usually really good.

Melissa G.

Yelp
We came here for a special event put on by the four lads. This was a celebration of Anthony Bourdain. We came on a Sunday night after the restaurants regular hours. The menu was set with drink pairings. We started with homemade blue cheese crackers and bone marrow aioli. So delicious. The amuse Bouche was wagyu beef and a fondant potato, an ode to his love of French food. Such a yummy bite, the potato was cooked perfectly and the sauce was really interesting and unique. It used hard boiled eggs instead of regular ones. The seafood trifecta was excellent, we loved every bite. The salt cod on a toast with beans and tomato salad was my favorite! The green curry risotto was so yummy. The pork was seasoned and cooked well. It came with four different sauces. The espagnole was our favorite but they were all so good! The dessert was fine, I wanted more tobacco flavor. This is the kind of food we've been searching for in Grand Rapids, really inventive and interesting and so good. I'm looking forward to them hosting more of these, we will definitely be attending!

Kyle C.

Yelp
It says this review needs to be more than 85 characters and I should add a few more thoughts and then post. This bar is not special in any way.

Marya T.

Yelp
All time Favorite. Can normally find free parking no problem. LOVE THE FOOD. And great pity for my vegan friends too.

Michael R.

Yelp
The Speakeasy is a super cool spot. Jeff the Bartender is one of the best people we have met in awhile. We went in to check it out, we left full, buzzed, and with new friends. I would now call this my local spot.

Joseph H.

Yelp
SERVICE: 5 FOOD QUALITY: 3 DRINK QUALITY: 5 ORDER TIME: 5 AESTHETICS: 4 NOISE LEVEL: 5 MENU SELECTION: 5 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 4.57 Went in on jazz night Sunday for music and drinks. I'm a fan of jazz and it is very hard to find quality live jazz. We were also surprised with a Jimi Hendrix vocalist that had an amazing sound. The bar had a traditional speak easy feel and the employees were dressed the part too. Our service was amazing and the drinks were even better. I ordered the Greek chicken rolls which were mediocre, and the flourless cake which was a little too fluffy for me. I ordered the doom of Valyria which was smoky and packed full of flavor. The drink was amazing, and the presentation was the same. If you're a whisky drinker then this is your drink. This is definitely going to be my Sunday hang out spot for as long as I live in Grand Rapids unless there is a better jazz bar in town. Overall my review is much higher due to my love for jazz. The atmosphere is amazing. The drinks are delicious. The food I tried wasn't that great. I recommend eating before going to the bar unless there is an item on the menu that someone can recommend for my future visits.

Michael R.

Yelp
This is a really fun spot that was not expected during a beer weekend in Grand Rapids. An interesting mix of cocktails and good bar food that serves as a cocktail bar/sports bar/kitchen all at once. Drink wise, the RedRum was good-strong, but the pineapple juice sidecar was perfect. I also liked the Lion's Tail and the Tennessee Stud & Desperado were enjoyed as well. The mussels were good-with great bread to soak up the broth.

John H.

Yelp
Weds. is local talent night, and I was able to catch two acts. No cover this evening but I think that is the norm. I was surprised by the ambitious menu. I ordered the feta bruschetta and was happy with how it was prepared with blistered olive tomatoes and balsamic vinegar. I wish the bread was freshly toasted but the appetizer had great flavor. Who knew feta and mozzarella could go so well together? This passed the test to try some of the entrees that were eclectic and not the typical bar food staples (such as paella). The music was enough to bring me back but the food just might be evenly matched. I love the dark cavernous space as you melt into the room and take in the music.

Dennis T.

Yelp
Food was ok, Dr Pepper grilled cheese was a little on the dude, but edible. French onion soup was ok, tasted like they folded cheese into Pillsbury crescent rolls and out that on top of the soup. Our service was ok- heck, we were the only ones in the place. Why I will not come back here was the 3% inflation fee added to my bill, seriously? What the heck is that, are they too lazy to update menu prices? They don't have menus, I had to scan a QR code. Never is there any mention of an inflation fee, no wonder the place was empty. I paid with cash and should have received at least a 3% discount for that!

Annie P.

Yelp
This is by far our favorite restaurant!! The dishes are ALWAYS amazingly prepared! Presentation is phenomenal! I am vegan and they are able to make adjustments. My family and I ate here last night 2/3/23 . Our waiter was JP ( I hope I remembered his name) he was a cool guy- suggested dishes to prepare plant based and the cocktails are ALWAYS delicious! I typically, I do not like Gin-but the Paisley Park (I'm a huge Prince fan) was a cocktail I had to try- I had asked to replace the gin with vodka and upon suggestion of the bartender from a previous visit, I accepted her recommendation as the gin is a botanical gin which makes the drink taste delicious- she was correct! Last night my boyfriend of 17 years surprised my kids and I with a beautiful diamond and the night was perfect!! Brunches here are AMAZING!! Bartenders are very knowledgeable- suggestions are alway on point! Atmosphere is amazing!! Soccer fans delight!! Thank you to all the staff for always showing us a fantastic time!!

Rudy F.

Yelp
Best brunch in town! Great food and service. Love the drinks and draft list. Awesome place to watch proper footie.

JeffandAngela S.

Yelp
Typical bar food. But fast and friendly service. Convenient to Embassy Suites hotel makes it an easy choice

Michelle C.

Yelp
Service was very good as our waiter took really good care but the food was slow to get. Not sure why the hold up. I didn't make an issue. Live music was a pleasure as people got up to dance . People were really enjoying themselves. This is a spot to go back to for the music.

Rae S.

Yelp
Wonderful location, service and food! Pictured: Hot Bacon Brussels Sprouts Salad, add chicken & Frisk Prickly Pear Wine. Tip: Try the chips & dip appetizer.

Ann A.

Yelp
I always passed by SpeakEZ but never knew that they did brunch. Tried it for the first time and have no regrets. I had the Mary Swanson Brekkie and highly recommend it to veggie-lovers and non-veggie-lovers, alike. I was initially very suspicious of the tofu being seasoned. Usually when places say this, tofu is usually still very bland -- but not at SpeakEZ. Our server (Katy?) was also very helpful. She recommended trying the homemade strawberry jelly and my life was changed!

John K.

Yelp
We hadn't been here in quite a while, since Covid, and wanted to have brunch here again. We've now gone twice in the past few Sundays and have really enjoyed it. Interesting breakfast entrees and what I've especially enjoyed has been the excellent service from our two waitresses, Addi and Michelle. If you like EPL football an added bonus for weekend brunches.

Kyle V.

Yelp
I have wanted to stop by and try the SpeakEZ lounge for awhile so I was excited when some friends mentioned it for a late night stop. The service was very friendly but the girl was working the entire dining room, so it was somewhat slow. Nothing to truly complain about but she could have used some help serving. The Jackfruit Banh Mi Sliders were interesting but not my favorite. I enjoyed the flavor of the sliders topped with the Thai chili sauce but the bao buns were not my favorite. The drink menu is large considering the offer bottles, drafts, wine, and hand crafted cocktails. We will definitely be back to try some more food and drinks!

Ree T.

Yelp
This is a great place. I drove 40 minutes to get here because the food is so good. They have vegan options and food for others who may be with me who are not vegan. The atmosphere is laid back. They gave live music as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. They even have gluten free options. The servers are well versed in the menu. THe service is good too.

Leora B.

Yelp
Came here with some fellow supervisors at work during the world cup and I'm not sure I have a fair review but it is from my perspective. I wasn't impressed with the morning options. As far as I can tell, if you have a gluten problem, this definitely is NOT the place for you! We sat there for a few hours, I had very standard coffee nothing to write home about. I was unable to order a single food item from the menu, and after we were done with our work event, I went over to Logan's for some tots. I'm sure its a great place for most to hang out, they have great service, I just don't really have a reason to return. Service 5 stars, ambiance 5 stars, cleanliness 5 stars, food freshness and quality 1 star each based on what was served to the table it looked like store bought packaged pastries and the fact that there were no options for me. A fruit dish would have even been something. That gives this location 3.4 stars overall. Let me know if I missed something because I would definitely try again.

Michelle P.

Yelp
Love me some speak! Premier league soccer, good food.. love it. Split a McMuffin sandwich with the hubby, mimosa (he had a sun salutation - which is basically a beermosa).

Jeff L.

Yelp
This wonderful bar and restaurant has been operating at the same location for over 11 years. The food at SpeakEZ he is very creative and high-quality. The service is extremely friendly. Atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Would best be described as an English pub type of atmosphere. Also a big-time soccer bar. Many people I know that go to SpeakEZ describe it in one word, "comfortable". A previous comment mentioned that several bars have been on this site. That is wrong. This is the second bar in 20 years to occupy the site after ownership was transferred. For reference, the previous business was known as Cambridge House. A nice advantage of SpeakEZ is that it is located in a semi residential neighborhood on the north side of downtown Grand Rapids. Parking is normally pretty easy. Go to SpeakEZ. You will love it.

Michael P.

Yelp
Super fun and friendly! We had a great time! The food was tasty and our server was lots of fun!

Brandi N.

Yelp
Fantastic place! Cozy, quiet and nice place to catch up with friends or enjoy a gathering. Specialty cocktails are a hit!

Mason A.

Yelp
SpeakEZ is a real cool bar/restaurant, a very fun gilded-age vibe, and a very extensive drink menu and a very impressive food menu. Vibe and crowd is pretty basic overall, but it's still a really nice place with great dining options and excellent service. I was able to order an off-menu cocktail last time (a paloma with a salt rim) which i really appreciate. I had their Madeira Mushroom bruschetta which was a dream come true. So much flavor. Their brunch is also amazing and I highly recommend giving it a shot. Great restaurant all-around and a great contribution to the city's bar and restaurant scene.

Bianca R.

Yelp
Place is cute. Food and drinks are good. They close the kitchen at 9:45 so our friend had to place our order for us as we were driving there. Felt very rushed. But overall our experience was great! Would for sure go back next time we're in town
