"This restaurant in a little side street in the city centre is a wonderfully cosy setting for a pleasant tête-à-tête or meal among friends. Diners can expect delicious traditional Viennese cuisine prepared using local ingredients. The pretty interior combining modern design, wooden floors, dark green wall panelling and partially vaulted ceilings creates a warm atmosphere. There is a U-Bahn station conveniently located close by." - Michelin Inspector

The most exotic flavour combinations coupled with warm and friendly staff. We selected the sturgeon and the wild boar as main courses and you can see my our polished plates, the food was nothing short of delectable. For desert we daringly chose asparagus pannacotta, with diced strawberries and basilico ice sorbet. It was unbelievably refreshing and the perfect way to finish off our meal. Couldn’t recommend more !!

Amazing service! Such a lovely people work here. Food is just perfect. Schnitzel is just perfect. Wild boar is something out of this world.

Great service and quality of ingredients. I must say that the flavour wasn't that impressive for a Michelin star restaurant but that could have due to my high expectations. The duck was good but not at the point where the meat melts in the mouth. The schnitzel was amazingly done. 👌 The two happy surprises of the meal was the snail with cheese with a great earthly flavour a good reminder of my childhood and the desert mouse for the unusual presentation. It was a good experience but not a Michelin like I was expecting maybe that's the fault of my previous culinary experiences in Baske and Catalan country cuisine in Spain.

The best restaurant in our Vienna trip! Service, ambience and food were all very fine. Friendly and caring stuff, very elegant decorations and the food was the best surprise! Small and carefully chosen menu, one can see the kitchen puts quality over number. The price was absolutely fair for the amazing quality we received. Worth mentioning is the Melanzani entry, which was among the best entries I ever ate! Wine choice also excellent. The only dark cloud in our otherwise perfect experience was the neighbour table, where two men were very loud and inconvenient about very personal matters, but this small inconvenience did not made our amazing night in this charming restaurant any worse. Would absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for the perfect Schnitzel and fine Austrian dining :)

Food is solid and the staff friendly. Dishes I ordered: 1. Parmasen soup 2. Schnitzel (deep fried pork chop, Vienna favorite), with a side of potato salad 3. Cherry chocolate mousse Food is delicious but a bit heavy (nothing wrong, just personal dining habit). Do note that they offer a pre-determined menu that rotates by day. I was actually more interested in the items of other days. If you visit, you may want to check the menu to determine the dates of visit.

Must eat when in old Town Vienna. Had dinner with my husband and we both Loved the place! The food was very delicious, the staffs were all very friendly and helpful. They also recommended and did a good job explaining the different dishes. We had the escargot, gyoza, golden trout, beef short ribs, and 2 desserts everything was well seasoned. The ambiance has a relaxing vibe and clean. Unfortunately we were not able to try their tasting menu since it wasn’t available tonight. Overall. This restaurant deserves their Michelin star.

This place sits somewhere between casual and fine dining, both in terms of ambiance and pricing. The food is good, though the portions could be more generous. The schnitzel was very buttery but not greasy, which I appreciated. The salads and dumpling dish were well-seasoned, but a larger portion would have been nice, especially since it’s just salad 😉

We enjoyed our time here, but it’s a place that is good yet kind of lacks something in each aspect. The atmosphere didn’t feel particularly cozy, despite an overall pretty setting, and I wish the lights were a bit less bright. The service was good, but again, the staff didn’t quite add up to the atmosphere; they were kind of too cold. As for the food, we had mixed thoughts. The deer ham was really nice, as well as the octopus, which was seamlessly cooked to achieve a really soft texture and had an amazing smoky flavor. However, the Spatzle was disappointing and rather lacked flavor and I wish there were more cheese. The salad dressing it was served with tasted as if it was from a supermarket jar – greasy but lacked taste as well.

Yelp
Great meal in calm and beautiful setting. On our trip to Vienna, we were able to make a reservation at SPECHT and it was one of the better meals we had. The quick snapshot: 1. Make a reservation. It can be difficult to get a table without. 2. Excellent service 3. Larger food portions. Dessert was definitely for two and the spetzle made us so full. 4. Great Austrian wine selection. Had a few glasses and there was a good amount of variety and something for every palate. Absolutely worth stopping in to check it out and dine.

Yelp
We wanted to eat Wiener Schnitzel, a famous local food, on the last day of our vacation in Vienna and chose this restaurant from many options. We are glad to make a right choice. Their premier Schnitzel was fried in apparently fresh high quality oil and flour coating was crisp and fluffy. Meat was light and tender. Right amount of tasty salt. Very delicious. Side dishes, (potatoes) and dessert (pear strudel) were creatively prepared and delicious! Service staff was friendly and elegant. I highly recommend visitors and locals to try this restaurant.

Yelp
I loved this place. After walking past the hyped places around and seeing the long lines, I decided to find something unknown by the tourist. That is how I found Specht. Mellow mood with their jazzy music and welcome service. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a goat cheese salad (the goat cheese was warm and yummy) and goulash. The goulash had a mild spice to it that was rich and addicting. I also had my first Austrian beer!

Yelp
This surprisingly large place will take you through a labyrinth of tables where locals seem to be engaged in conversation and chow downs. It is located in one of the side streets of the old city in Vienna, and some colleagues selected it for what we had hoped would be an authentic Austrian meal. Well... It appears the cook's name is Nabil, and some dishes on the menu are named after him... Lol - so far for Austrian. We selected some local specialties nonetheless: the veal schnitzel, goulash with dough dumplings, and a traditional vegetarian plate of dumplings with egg. Everything was rather average (prices were pretty average as well, running us €20 each for the main dish with a beer. Service is extra). We came hungry and the dishes we selected met expectations. The guy who had the schnitzel said it was dry and lacked flavor. Overall a decent meal I suppose. I would not go back though, it just had nothing to impress with, food took long to arrive, and service met expectations at best. *They supposedly have wifi but connecting did not work. **Accept cash and cards. Located a few minutes' walk from the Stefanplatz metro station.

Yelp
Wonderful, delicious dinner and excellent, personable service! We came in on the recommendation of one of our friends who was in Vienna over 4 years ago and enjoyed Specht so much they went every night for 3 nights in a row. Of their whole Vienna experience, this was his top recommendation and it did not disappoint! The food was outstanding and the service was phenomenal and personable--our waiter was so friendly and really waited on us hand and foot! Everything at our table was delicious and the portions are wonderful for a good price! We will definitely be recommending this restaurant to our friends--it is a pleasant change from the over-crowded restaurants nearby with a refreshing, friendly atmosphere!

Yelp
So we were walking around after a meal at Figlmüller to get a cocktail and ended up at Specht after walking around for a long time. Upon entry it is very mellow with a nice mix of music, great lighting, etc.. But we were looking for a bar, not a restaurant. We sat at the bar, and that was where our nice experience ended. Long story short, I asked for a belvedere martini, dry up and dirty, and the bartender missed the dry part, and I said the martini was ok, and he spent the next 45 minutes making fun of me about how I do not know how to order a cocktail. Literally, laughing at me in front of my party and going on and on about how I do not know the first thing about alcohol... It was so egregious it became humorous... Bottom line he though he was acting totally appropriately, and if I was in a contentious mood, he would have learned a bit more about customer service. Anyway, the degradation would cause me to never go back, even though the space was a great space.... Don't know the bartender's name but he had shoulder length dark hair with just a slightly dark white complexion... He was running the bar on Friday April 3, 2015.

Yelp
Went here twice for pre dinner wine. Lovely venue with great wine, servers were friendly.
