Sports Stadiums Are Plagued By Food Safety Violations | Eater

"Identified as one of the worst offenders in an ESPN investigation into stadium food safety, this arena was reported to have concession outlets that committed high-level sanitation violations. The broader probe documented alarming issues across venues — including live mice found in packaged snacks like Cracker Jack, beef blood dripping off shelves, and cooks exhibiting poor hygiene — raising serious concerns about food handling and cleanliness at its concession stands." - Whitney Filloon

It was so much fun and the place is so big. Parking is $25, and you CAN'T bring a small bag or any bag to carry your stuff. Wasn’t too cold or too hot in there.

The hubs and I stopped by for our 1st Hornets game, and enjoyed it! The arena is clean, concession lines are efficiently run, and I can’t imagine that there’s a bad seat in the house. Section 109 didn’t disappoint. However, the flow of getting game watchers in their seats needs some work (from Trade Street) as the lines to enter Spectrum Center were insane (even at tip-off). Once inside, it was all uphill. All in all, and as basketball arenas go, Spectrum Center is up to snuff. Go Hornets!

Went to Usher's concert and had a great experience. Seats were decent, these pictures are from section 205. Only thing is was nerve-racking walking those steep steps to get to our seat. Views from the section are good, seats were tight, expect to rub elbows.

Google
LOVED MY EXPERIENCE! The seats were so comfortable— holy, they were cushioned and I couldn’t be more grateful. Navigating around was no trouble and we found our seats easily. I loved how staffed this arena was, and everyone seemed to enjoy their job. They were helpful whenever questions were asked. I did not appreciate when purchasing a bottle drink, you aren’t allowed to keep it. It has to be poured into an open lid cup. Very frustrating. We witnessed so many drinks being spilled throughout the night.

Recently, I drove seven hours to take my son to the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, and we had an amazing time. The arena lived up to our expectations, delivering a memorable experience. The only downside was the lack of pre-event activities outside the arena, but the attentive staff more than made up for it by keeping us engaged. We opted for seats in the Founder area, specifically the Flight Deck, and it was well worth it. For just $40 each, we enjoyed access to a buffet and our own table, all while being entertained. The only suggestion would be to have a few extra servers at the stairs for smoother service, but it didn't hinder our enjoyment. To enhance others' experiences, I've included some pictures since there wasn't much information available about the seats beforehand. Overall, a fantastic outing – kudos to the Spectrum Center team for a job well done.

Google
The venue was really nice. Went for an Eagles concert. Our seats could definitely use more space for leg room though. DEFINITELY eat prior to coming to the venue for your event!!! The food was NOT good at all. Their Pizza smelled and tasted disgusting. Along with that, the pretzels were okay but any longer than 15 mins out, they got stale. Our beer wasnt took expensive in comparison to other venues we have been to.. that was the only pro… It was easy enough to get around the venue. Signs were properly labeled and placed so thats helpful!

Google
My family and I recently visited this venue to attend an educational event for his school, took a behind-the-scenes tour of the Audio-Video sections, and attend the Hornets and Pelicans game. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful, it was easy to find our way around, and it was very clean. Ordering concessions for the game was easy by using the Hornets' app on our phone. My only complaint would be that the seating in the upper level (we were in section 208) was lacking severely in leg room and there were no cup holders.

Google
Travelling north from Orlando, our pit stop was to watch the Hornets. The entire family enjoyed the entire experience, including the off-court entertainment. Charlotte knows how to host an event.- from the food, to comfy seats... We felt very much at home in The Nest!

Yelp
Nice arena for the Charlotte Hornets NBA team. Good, clean space with plenty of good concession options. Easy to get to Downtown as well.

Yelp
It's nice to come out here once in a while to catch a game but it gets expensive. Between tickets and parking, it's become a rich man's sport, just like every other sport. My biggest complain is the food quality. They have switched over to self serve kiosks where you tap your card and grab and go. The food does not feel fresh and could be sitting quite a bit of time. They also have someone making you take the cap off your drinks and throwing them out. This becomes a hassle to carry and spill and sodas go flat quickly. We got the Chicken strips and waffle fries and they were worse than what you would get at a gas station. The nachos come in a small bag with a sealed cold cheese sauce, just nasty! Not a lot of nachos in the bag and no option of jalapeños or chili or HOT cheese! Just not worth it for the money you pay. Better off eating ahead or after the games. I would love to see more affordable t shirts or value worthy gifts for everyone, not just the people with money to spare. Would love to come to more games but 1 or 2 a year is my limit. I can only afford nosebleeds and for that I might as well stay in the comfort of my home.

Yelp
Attended the Nicki Minaj concert here. We arrived early, so we were able to get in and move around pretty easily. The staff were very polite and helpful. The crowd picked up, and the place got pretty packed in no time. I liked how they had a chic fil a and other food options on all levels. They also had plenty of vendors selling beer and alcohol. There were plenty of bar options as well, so I really liked that there were plenty of food and drink options. The rest rooms were clean, and everyone was civilized. And we had such an amazing time! There were different props set up to take photos, there were vendors selling Nicki merchandise, etc. Which was nice. The seats were so uncomfortable....... It felt really tight. The stairs were really narrow, people were on top of each other, the aisles were tight, so it was a pain to let people in and out of the aisle. It got HOT! All of those bodies in one space dancing and singing really brought the temperature up fast. Nicki was two hours late, which would of been fine if the DJ was playing the entire time, unfortunately we sat for over an hour listening to random music. I don't think I'd attend another concert here, it's just too small and tight. I also didn't like that there was no big screen for people up higher to see the artist. The flow was easy, and the staff were polite, the venue was clean, so no issues with the service. It's just a tight venue. The concert itself was a vibe, and even though Nicki was two hours late, she carried!!

Yelp
Recently had box office closed yet no mention of this on their site. We went to buy tickets and found out. Wasted time and parking fee. While at game I lost my glasses. Tried contacting the email address for "guest relations" and no one answered the phone and no way to leave a message. Sent email to address on their site and that rejected. A total lack of customer focus

Yelp
Had an awesome time here last year seeing the Impractical Jokers on their Drive Drive Drive Drive Drive tour. Booked everything online through Ticketmaster without any issues. There was lots of parking still in the garage even though I got there close to opening time. There was more than one garage available, but I just went with whatever one was suggested to me upon booking and had no issues. There were a lot of different concession sections and vendors inside. I stopped at the BBQ place to get some pulled chicken nachos which were really tasty and grabbed a beer from one of the vending areas. Everything moved smoothly throughout the whole process and it was a nice, comfy venue for the show. All the workers I interacted with were great. I would love to come back to attend another event here in the future. My only word of caution if you're new to the area or visiting like I was - please, be careful leaving the parking deck. The signage was not entirely clear and I was following someone who I assumed knew their way, only to find myself going the wrong way on a one way street exiting the deck. Luckily I was able to correct safely, but just please be aware as the streets get kind of hectic after events of course.

Yelp
I recently attended a Lauren Daigle concert at Spectrum Center. I will say that our seats, which were at the highest level of the stadium, were surprise upgraded to floor seats by Lauren's team. It's hard to have a bad experience with luck like that! We had a great time, and the stadium had good acoustics. I found all the staff we interacted with to be very kind and helpful. There are also several parking garages close by. I'd be happy to attend a concert at this venue again.

Yelp
This is a review based on a concert. I've been to this area many times over the years for NBA & college hoops. Fewer opportunities for musical events but last night Ben & I saw the Doobie Brothers open for the Eagles. First let's talk about transportation and parking. My first recommendation would be to use Lynx since it stops right in front of the arena. The other options would be Uber or Lynx for easy access. If you're driving in, arrive early. There are multiple high rise garages but I like the 7th Street garage for proximity, ease of access and affordability. This arena holds close to 20,000 so plan accordingly to ease your stress, and consider having a pre-game beverage or meal. This arena is on the entertainment map. It draws national acts of all types, Country, Comedy, Pop, Rock and everything in between. The acoustics in the 'bowl' are much better than the higher level seats. For these two Classes Rock Sons the area was sold out. The Staff did a fantastic job of getting fans into their seats and directed to concessions and restrooms We had floor seats and they were not cheap. Close to $1,000 each and 14 rows from the stage. This is a premium price but it also gets you exclusive access to dedicated concessions and facilities. The concession options are not on a par with B of A arena but they are adequate. I must give an enthusiastic commendation to the Staff that assisted in our section. There was an individual who was clearly out of his element. He looked like he just walked off a lawn care crew and into the arena. He smelled, he was drunk and he was loud. While Don Henley was introducing the band, he was yelling out the names of different songs. It didn't take long before he got on the radar of security. He took it one step too far when he refused to stop filming with his Smart phone after repeated warnings. Without interrupting the vibe of the moment, Security crew called the CLT PD who quietly escorted him out of the arena. I will also give a thumbs up to the improvement to access. It used to bottle neck but they've added to Staff and improved the flow so it runs much smoother. I really like they ask everyone to empty their pockets and go through the metal detector, it certainly gives you an address sense of security.

Yelp
The Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC, is a well-cared-for facility with impressive amenities and modern features. The venue itself is great, offering a comfortable and enjoyable experience for various events. However, the overall environment can be disappointing due to the crowds it attracts. Unfortunately, this often leads to the area becoming trashy and dirty, and potentially dangerous -- detracting from the otherwise excellent facilities. While the Spectrum Center has potential, the issues with ambiance and the behavior of some attendees impact the overall experience. Improved crowd management and maintenance could make it a superior venue.
google avatar

Tiffanee T.

Yelp
Sounds was terrible. Didn't know about the no bag policy until we were walking up to the stadium. Very disappointing in the stadium not the artists.

Yelp
Always a good time at Spectrum. Staff is cool and the building inside and out is in good condition.

Yelp
This is a 5-star sporting venue through and through! I came here for a Kings vs Hornets game and was fortunate enough to grab some killer seats right behind courtside (Row A1). From what I saw while walking around, there wasn't a bad seat in the house! What makes the Spectrum Center so unique is that it was designed specifically for Basketball games (they also do concerts here as well), so with the angle of the stadium seats and layout of the arena, everything has an intimate feel. These seats came with "Inner Circle" perks such as access to private restrooms, complimentary dining in the Grant Thornton Crown Club before/during/after the game, open bar, free coat check, opportunities to high-five players as they walk out from the locker room in the hallway. I'm currently doing Dry January and Beyond and was made some delicious ginger mocktails by one of the talented bartenders. The seats and views of the game were incredible but what really blew me away was the sheer friendliness and warmth by every single staff member I encountered. From the kind fellow right outside the arena who I asked for directions to the Inner Circle entrance, to all of the people in lounge and all of the ushers, everyone was genuinely kind and enthusiastic. If I lived in Charlotte, I would be attending as many games here as I could!

Yelp
Amazing place is that enough to say? It is humongous and very clean. It is also in a pretty good location.Go Hornets!

Yelp
A.sporting venue where people play sports. Come visit have a popcorn and a cold beer. Plenty of seats are available. They also have concerts here.

Yelp
I had been here previously for a business event but returned when I won free tickets to see the Eagles in concert. Parking is horrendous and expensive downtown but we found a street lot a few blocks away. They were having St. Patrick's Day celebrations, which also didn't help with traffic and parking. For such a large venue, we also thought the variety of food options was lacking. The arena was fine for the concert, even though we thought it was odd that we couldn't bring cans and bottles bought onsite into the seating area (staff told us that was a request of the artist). I would return but only for a special artist or event that wasn't performing elsewhere in the state.
google avatar

Yelp
Extremely seamless entry and all staff interaction was very pleasant!! Our seats were better than we anticipated and I can't think of any negatives, aside from drink prices. But it's to be expected at venues like this. I believe a 16 oz beer was around $18 before tip and a wine cocktail was around $20. It's not ideal, but it's sadly the norm. The bathrooms were clean and everything felt very well organized. It was a great show!

Yelp
The experience was awesome. We went to see NF in concert .the sound was excellent, the employees were extremely attentive and helpful. It was very safe and secure with many guards and cops. The only thing I will mention is I am a larger woman so the seats were a wee bit tight, but nothing to get us down. It was amazing Next time we'll definitely get closer seats haha .

Yelp
Attended Hornet game on Sunday. Sat in ROYAL BOX ....awesome seats plus view of floor was GREAT. Ordered off app & food is delivered ....servers were tremendous. Burgers & hot dogs were delicious too. The only disappointment was Magic beat Hornets by 6 points only ..... bummer was Hornets missed 7 or 9 free throws from the line in the last 4 minutes !!! Great afternoon experience!!

Yelp
I was recently invited to a media event at Spectrum Center with some local foodies. We were treated to a luxury suite with food, games, drinks and seats to watch the game from the sky box. Because we were in the suite we didn't have to wait in the long entrance line to the game. We were able to zip around there the side entrance and take the elevator to the suite level which was super cool. Once in the suite it was clean, the prepared for was cooked well and nice presentation. The suite host was kind and attentive. We even received a visit from The Charlotte Hornets mascot Hugo! This was a fantastic experience and would definitely recommend watching the game from the suites.

Yelp
The Spectrum Center is smack dab in the middle of the city with plenty of parking decks around. I prepaid for a spot in the Wells Fargo one for $11.00. This a huge arena! You will go through a long security check and bags have to be a small size. I came for the John Mayer concert. I had no idea how big the place was when I bought the tickets so I bought some in section 252 Row V. Well, if you are afraid of heights, get dizzy after walking up several steps, and also hate walking down steps with a ton of people watching then Do NOT get those seats. Instead of having 3 floors they only have 2 and make you enter halfway up and make the trudge the whole way up a ton of steps with your food and drinks. The seats are very small and you are basically all over the person you are sitting beside. If you are in the middle of the row you better hold it if you have to go to the bathroom. There are bathrooms located all over and they have a lot of food options inside. There are not any places to sit in eat other than in your own seats. The bathrooms were kinda messy. They have merch sales in the first floor. Sound system was great inside. Prices for drinks are extremely high like at any venue. All in all, I would come back but I would definitely go more money for a lower section.

Yelp
Had the opportunity to watch the New York Knicks vs Charlotte Hornets basketball game. Tickets offered by my alma mater, University of Dayton Charlotte Association. Had the privilege to sit court side during pre game warmups for the teams. Was supposed to meet a Dayton Alumni who plays for the Knicks but he didn't travel with the team due to injuries. Court side seats are comfortable and we're cool to sit in for the team being. Walked around the center to see what other attractions they would have. There are several photo backdrops for you to take pictures. Also some morals and picture displays of prior Hornet players. Other shopping booths and rooms for Hornet gear. Many other vendors their selling and advertising their businesses. Also many options for food with even having some known restaurants in the center, i.e. Chick-fi-la. The only thing I didn't like so that there were limited options in food for people who don't eat pork or beef. Also for people who are gluten free. I would suggest revamping their menus for those dietary restrictions. Other than that, the game was sort of fun. Would just need to go back when actual known players are playing. The overall game was boring to say the least.

Yelp
Went here for the concert and it was amazing. The place is overpriced of course but the experience makes up for it!

Yelp
How do you have a concert space that holds over 15k people and not one monitor! They should be ashamed! I've never been to a concert that holds this many people and not one monitor. SHAMEFUL
google avatar

Yelp
Great arena! I had a great view from Section 226, Row G, Seat 6. Great sound and friendly staff. Parking was also a breeze compared to other big events I've been to. I would return again.

Yelp
Last week i attended my first NBA game. I was so excited especially as a new resident to NC I'm really trying to explore and do EVERYthing. I purchased tickets at the box office for the Hornets game vs the Orlando Magic because TicketMaster really be violating for those fees and the fees for the fees. Anywho I arrived about 45 mins before the game started and found my seat up in section 208. Looking at my seat from the website seems far bit it really isn't that bad. I can actually see the players without looking at the big screen. I hit up the concession stand a few times and I liked that you can order from the tablet screen and pay and just wait for your number to be called. Also when I went back again there was an area you can purchase your beers or soft drinks from thru a link and once you show the guy guarding the beverages you paid he'd would bring you the drinks. The game was hella chill and I'm glad I got to get a feel for arena so when I have to come back here for a concert I know where I should look for seats.
google avatar

Tasha F.

Yelp
Lower-level seats for a concert. Section 114 was a good pick. Close to food, drinks, & restrooms. The seats could be a little wider, but we had a good view of the stage.
google avatar

Ashley F.

Yelp
I've been to this arena many times over the years and it's always a great experience! Only 4 stars because I'd love more localized food options, like real food. But I understand stadium concessions, etc. I visited the arena recently for the Martin Lawrence "Lit AF" Comedy Tour and for the Hornets season opener. Both events were fantastic!!! We walked to the arena each time and that's really the best option to me. Even if you park near the arena you'll be stuck in the garage waiting for traffic to die down. Might as well park further away, walk up and save yourself the stress.

Yelp
I loved the TOMORROW X TOGETHER Concert in Charlotte they chose a good Arena to tour Im glad they finally gave Charlotte a chance~ They are the first kpop group to ever tour Charlotte and Im proud to have been there for that since it was literally not far from me so I was able to go! Me my sister and Mom all went~ Im very happy it was awesome Birthday gift and would definitely recommend seeing them again! Maybe next time they tour The panthers stadium~ I will never forget how Taehyun looked at me lol he was being such a bias wrecker

Yelp
Went to our first event NBA basketball game here! We had an amazing time! Beautiful venue. We purchased last minute tickets way up in the sky but could truly see everything from those seats. Price for 3 tickets via ticketmaster with tax a little over $80. This venue is cash free. Went through a drink line and you scan your credit card and they place a $25.00 hold on your card. They have your purchases you pickup on camera and your credit card will be charged accordingly. Figured it out once the attendant decided to stop her personal conversation to tell us how it worked.

Yelp
We went to a Hornets game and had the best Time. The spectrum is a nice place and the neighborhood had a good number of decent restaurants to pick from. Parking and transportation were very convenient.

Yelp
This was my first of hopefully many visits to the Spectrum Center. If we are talking about security measures it's a 10/10. You can't even bring a cigarette lighter into this place. I had to remove my heel boots because they were setting off the metal detectors. I almost thought I forgot my ID and a woman working the concessions told me I would not have been served without one. And that they check every time you come back. The flow of the entry line was a smooth process. The arena itself is HUGE. The staff was extremely friendly. We sat on the first level (section 103) yet our seats still seemed a little far so I couldn't imagine having seats in the 200 sections.
google avatar

Vee H.

Yelp
We are back at the Spectrum center for the season opener Hornets vs Pacers game. They gave out white & Teal shirts for the season opener. There are a lot of new Covid procedures in place at the Spectrum center (mask are a must; no bandana mask, no ventilator mask and no neck/ face covering mask). No bags over 10x10 and your mask must be worn anytime you are in the building.
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
I was here for a UFC event so this review may be different for other events. It's a small arena in comparison to some other NBA arenas. The bathrooms were on the smaller side and entrance to the arena took a lot longer than it should have. The concessions didn't offer much more than your basic arena food's.
google avatar

David A.

Yelp
Pretty average for an NBA arena. Pros: Generally cleaner than average and sight lines are good even from upper deck. In and out is super easy compared to most other venues. Cons: concession prices are as high as places like Miami and San Francisco. (I.e. Chick-fil-a sandwich is 4.50 nearby but 9.50 in arena) Men's bathrooms seemed easy to find but a few times I saw women in the Corridor traversing and asking for help to find the nearest. Not a lot of common space to catch other NBA content / games. The Brooklyn : Philly game went down to the wire and while the Hornets were at halftime so a swarm of people were crammed in front of one TV in the Dr. pepper porch area trying to catch the ending. Meh: average variety of food options. Some concession lines are huge while others tiny, seems inefficient. Parking prices nearby that you'd think are just public lots were much higher for the event (typical nationally but excessive for CLT so take the light rail even though only coming every 20 min can make for a snug journey home)
google avatar

Yelp
First time attending an event here. Very organized. All of the attendants were very friendly and accommodating. Next time in Charlotte, I'd be happy to see a show or event here.

Yelp
The Spectrum Center is pretty nice. I have always had great interactions with the staff at the arena when I am there for the Hornets games. Parking attendants make entering and exiting a breeze and the staff at the various concessions are pretty good. My one complaint for the arena is cleanliness, although the bathrooms are not dirty and are actually fairly clean, most of the time I go I can literally feel the sole of my shoes sticking to the bottom of the floor. It's definitely a gross feeling but nothing a good cleaning couldn't fix.
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
This was my first time attending a concert since Covid and I was very impressed with their protocol of services. From security, ticket scan, ushers, hands free food pickup and even clean restrooms. I give them 5 stars. Parking was easy and accessible also. It was a great evening.
google avatar

Darrell O.

Yelp
I've been to this arena to many times to count but I've never done a review on it so I'll just stick with this particular event. My wife wanted to check out the U.S. Gymnastics tour with Simone Niles and wanted me to come along with her. It was a lot of children there but the staff was extremely nice and helpful to everyone there. This is surely one of the nicest NBA arenas in the league without a bad view to any events here. Truly a spectacular place (but I'm bias, ).
google avatar

Yelp
Visited the Spectrum several times thru out the yrs. Parking is really convenient and easy. If you are DT after 5pm most lots are $10, during the day $20 or more so be prepared. Make sure you account for the traffic so your not late to your event, just go early. Checking in a breeze, all the staff is professional and courteous every time I visit. The stadium has 15,000 and most times it sold out. Food is way to expensive, at before you come in. The arena is well maintained with the highest standards. I just saw Oprah and Celine Dion last week on two separate visits! Both events were outstanding! Oprah had TV screens all over, so no issues with visibility, Celine's show had only a few, I enjoyed but it could have been better. I didn't expect anything less from Oprah!! Charlotte is one my favorite spot to hang out in for several reasons. So yep I shall return in the near future. They definitely have the parking issue down, compared to other large cities. Also the train is easy & convenient if your hotel is outside of the city.

Yelp
Went last night (09/05/23) to see Greyday tour. Have seen them before in Charlotte but only at PNC. Immediately when we walked in my fiancé and I were asked to either trash our vapes or take them back to the car. We just got them, so decided to run back to the car and come back. Nowhere does it say there is no tobacco products allowed. It's an indoor building I get it, but once we got inside others literally had marijuana and vapes. We come back. Female security at front doing the metal detectors stops me because of thigh garters I was wearing UNDER my dress, and asked me to remove them as they could be "a weapon" they had spikes on them but they are not sharp (obviously they're not going to be sharp given you could poke yourself/rip clothing if they're so "dangerous") at this point I was extremely over it as we were missing the show. I had to take my garters off in front of everybody and throw them away. Once again, once we finally got in another people had on spikes. I go through the metal detector and it goes off. Of course. My choker had metal rings on it, I suggest it was my necklace. A MALE guard points at my chest suggesting it was my dress which had metal clips down the front. They motion me over to said male and he proceeds to scan my chest with handheld detector multiple times. It didn't go off, because it was my necklace as both me and my fiancé had stated it was. I have never felt more violated in my entire life getting into any venue. This was an uncomfortable, creepy security experience. Female guard was snarky. PNC never made me take off any spiked jewelry, and allows vapes. Avoid this arena at all costs, unless you want to be harassed, uncomfortable, and have your evening ruined. Sound was mid. PNC Better for big Charlotte venues. We spent almost 60$ on two beers an a soda. Show was okay otherwise. $uicideboy$ is always fantastic. I'm begging you to please go literally anywhere else.

Yelp
Spectrum center is your standard, large scale multi-level events venue. Located in the heart of Uptown, it's the home of the hornets. As a general rule, do not bring regular sized book bags if/when attending a higher security event because you will be turned away. Before entering, there is a security check where they will submit you to a metal scanner and bag check. Once in, you immediately ascend the stairs and head to your seats. My personal preference for seating are in the low 100s or floor. Seating in the upper level is quite high and you're mainly dependent on the TV screens for viewing. There are bathrooms well-spaced out and concession stands throughout the first and second floors. Obviously, this being an event space, the prices for your standard beverages are anything but standard. It's all a part of the price you pay for an experience! I've always encountered extremely nice people when walking around and/or purchasing concessions. I haven't bothered to deal with parking but there is an attached parking garage that will occasionally hike up its pricing depending on the event.

Yelp
The arena itself was fine. The seats we were in had some ccushiom so they weren't terribly uncomfortable. The screens in the middle allowed for viewing from every direction, but if yourre in a corner you are split between screens (if this important to you). The food options weren't of the most variety. We saw many people with the spiced waffle fries. Not very big on vegan options, so we had to go out to eat after the game. We did snack on a pretzel, using oil, not butter. As for security, I i took a large tote and was fine. I'm sure if it's a busier event they may be more strict on bag size and transparency.

Yelp
Love the experience. Just wish they were winning at the point! The arena would be a lot more lit!

Yelp
Lots to like here, however, avoid upper deck for concerts. The bass especially reverberates so loudly the rest of the music is washed away. We've also sat on the floor and discovered seeing was difficult since the stage is so high. Ideally, the low perimeter seating is the best (or private suites if you know someone), but they're admittedly tough to score. I'm starting to sound like Goldilocks. Some acts demand top dollar, so my advice is do your homework before giving them a whirl. Enjoy!

Yelp
Beautiful and lots of space!! Perfect for a Mary J Blige Concert tonight! Friendly staff! Concession food was not good! All food items were lukewarm. Hot dog was child size and wiener was poor! Lukewarm French fries lessened my hype mood a little. But this Auditorium is beautiful and located in an accessible place to park with ease despite the large number of people attending the concert. The police did an awesome job in controlling the traffic. I will definitely return for further events here at the Spectrum Center.

Yelp

Yelp
This is our big indoor venue in Charlotte. It's the Hornets' arena, but they have a lot of other events too. They have a lot of concerts and other performances. We recently saw Cirque du Soleil here. The security process to get in is pretty straightforward. You have to go through a metal detector, but it doesn't cause a big back up. I've never been super impressed with the food options. I always eat at a local restaurant in the area before I come. It's pretty similar to any other big arena.
