"Chinatown is a guaranteed late-night eating area and, in Speedboat Bar, it has one of London’s most fun and cosplay-ish Thai restaurants. The bar-cum-restaurant is from the same people as Plaza Khao Gaeng, and there’s a similar feel of Thai paraphernalia everywhere you look. Only, here, combined with an upstairs pool table and pastel plates of bitingly spicy and soy-stained drunkard noodles. Come Friday and Saturday the Bangkok-inspired spot is open until 1am. "Speedboat Bar is a fun and fiery Thai restaurant on the edge of Chinatown. With an upstairs bar open until 1am on weekends, self-pour three-litre Singha beer towers, and wolfable curries—it’s also a lot of fun. It’s soundtracked by the chatter of tightly knit groups of friends and the scraping of spoons in excellent sauces and broths. "7/11 Pineapple Pie With Taro Ice Cream Those with a sweet tooth will know there’s a difference in excitement between mains and puds. One isn’t necessarily better than the other, but seeing a dessert you love, or one that sounds frankly outrageous, triggers a special kind of anticipatory sugar-rush squeal. This deep-fried pineapple pie from Speedboat Bar is one of those. A proper leg-jigger. There’s much to like about the Thai restaurant on the edge of Chinatown, but you could (and maybe should) just come here for this dessert. It’s a golden, sugar-laden pastry pocket, filled with sweet pineapple chunks in syrup—hot, but not third degree burn hot—with a scoop of lilac taro ice cream on top. "The big sharing set menu dinner from this Thai tribute restaurant in Chinatown is where you really get value for your money. The seven-dish menu spans sweetcorn fritters to crispy pork and black pepper curry. And we’d highly recommend adding on the sweet, crunchy, syrupy, hot, cold pineapple pie dessert.
