"Wood-fired pizza darling Speedy Romeo has permanently closed one of its two New York City restaurants. The grates at the pizzeria’s Lower East Side went down earlier this month, and chef-owner Justin Bazdarich confirmed to Eater that Speedy Romeo LES will not be reopening." - Luke Fortney

"Diners can get free beer, wine, and pizzas at Speedy Romeo’s LES location this weekend, at 63 Clinton St., between Stanton and Rivington Streets. The pizza shop will be celebrating the debut of Cold Beer & Soda, a clothing brand, on Saturday, December 29, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., during which the free drinks and food will flow." - Carla Vianna

This was place was overall good. The service was okay not stellar. We got there just a little before 5 so we're able to get the lunch special, $25 for a pizza and appetizer. We got the margherita pizza which we didn't realize had pepper flakes, and regularly I love spicy food, but the pizza was a little too spicy even for my taste. For appetizers we got some wings (this was our favorite), and the autumn mozzarella. The ambience was nice with dim lighting, and a good happy hour for drinks. The food was brought almost immediately however they weren't busy so I'm not sure this is always the case.

The while album is hands down the best white sauce pizza I've had! Also tried the Caesar salad and octopus which were both amazing! Had the olive oil cake for dessert which came with baked and fresh apples. I like olive oil cake a lot and found the apples to be a little overwhelming. Would try something else next time for dessert.

Great presentation, and amazing decor. The pizza was delicious and the entrees do die for. Definitely recommend for a higher end Italian pizza pub.

Having been several times now I decided to update my review. This place is a hands down winner everything I have eaten here is amazing the crown jewel was the Kansas strip steak cooked to perfection and a taste to die for no need for steak knives here the meat was super tender. Also highly recommend the grilled Octopus. And the pizzas go without saying they are all lovely.

Outstanding experience. The place has two rooms: one is where there is a lot of people and very lively, and another one where it is a little quieter and its bear the bar. I chose the latter and had a great time. Brought a book to read, had a couple of beers and the Truffle Shuffle which was an outstanding pizza. The staff is super nice and the place is good hang. It’s going on my go to foodie map.

I️ have 2 words for you Katz Pastrami Pizza... ok that 3 words but it was delicious. Late summer nights I️ find myself going to Katz and then Joe’s Pizza for my wife. After a pastrami sandwich I’ll have a slice or 2. So ... Speedy Romeo combines the 2 and I’m already trying to figure out when I’m going back and quite possibly this Thanksgiving weekend! The everything bagel spice sprinkled on top goes so well with that Pastrami that is so tender it just melts. I️ found it hard to share but... I️ did and the Margarita was good. It’s kind of like Forcella in Bk. I️ can’t believe that pizza was so good but I️ wasn’t stuffed like those late night Katz and Joe’s. Get there and try it for yourself.

All the food was on point and the servers were very tentative. But, we literally visited only for the wings, and they had none left.. It was a very depressing moment. Got the beets and stuffed long hot peppers which were lovely. We also got the margherita pizza, and for some reason it took about 40 minutes to get to us. I think the server said something about a disturbance in the kitchen.. Overall, not a great experience, but I'd probably give it another shot next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Short Review: Go Here. Long Review: I visited NY solo, each night I went out I would go to a cool bar I found or had heard about where, much to my surprise in was almost all locals. The obvious question they all had was "Where have you been?" You would have thought I had sinned, staying in the lower East side and NOT gone to Speedy Romeo's. Multiple venues with multiple people agreed. This. Was. The. Best. So I had to go. Being solo I was sat quickly at the bar, and had amazing bartender/server the entire night. This isn't a slice shop. This is a pie place. And boy will you eat the entire pie. Luckily they aren't massive so 1 to 2 people can take it down with ease and with pizza this good who's counting calories? 10/10.
