Friendly staff and very knowledgeable. I had a few questions that were answered perfectly. Got some recommendations and left very happy. Got home opened one of the recommendations of a dessert, wine and it was amazing. Thank you so much.

Super knowledgeable and friendly staff. Great selection of smaller production wines, craft beers and spirits! Amaro and bitter section is EPIC! You could spend hours browsing! Definitely make it a point to stop in!

Came in while on vacation with my aunt and 16-year-old sister. The lady with red hair immediately asked to see my minor sister’s ID (??), even after we told her the stuff wasn’t for her. She still refused to sell to us just because we didn’t leave my sister outside. Nowhere on the door does it say you have to be 21 to enter the store, so that was wild. Honestly, it’s kind of embarrassing how rude she was. Not surprised though—seems like every bad review is about her and somehow she still works there. No clue how the shop hasn’t done anything, but I guess they’re cool with losing customers over pointless power trips

We had a delightful experience at Spencer & Lynn in Mystic. The staff helped us select a magnum rosé from the Basque region of Spain—made from the rare Hondarrabi grape—and a crisp Vinho Verde from Portugal, which they kindly chilled for our sunset cruise. We also picked up some truffle potato chips (a perfect pairing!) and left with great intel for a future trip to Block Island. Thoughtful curation, warm service, and local charm—this place is a gem. Highly recommend.

Found this shop on a recent trip to Mystic. Lots of unique wines I haven't seen before, which I love so I can try something new. I asked the knowledgeable staff for some suggestions based on my preferences, and they picked out a few bottles for me. So far, the wines have been spot on. We will definitely return when we're in the area.

Spencer & Lynn is perhaps the best boutique liquor store I’ve ever set foot in. Jules and her team are real professionals: they go above and beyond merely ringing up items and bagging them—rather, they are subject matter experts in their craft. I had some very pointed questions about rums (local ones, to be precise) and Jules not only made several recommendations but also informed me of these liquors’ historical significance and their ties between New England and the Caribbean. If I ever again find myself in Connecticut I will be certain to visit them in Mystic.

Finally, a craft beer purveyor who knows their stuff and doesn't just sell popular labels. Selection isn't huge, but they'll help you find exactly what you're seeking.

Fantastic wine selection! I browsed the shop with a professional sommelier and was very pleased with their selections. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

We needed a few bottles of wine for a sail in Mystic Harbor and stopped by Spencer & Lynn. What a selection! The store isn't huge but they have an incredible selection. We wandered right up to the fridge to see the wines they already had chilled. After just a few seconds of staring up at the fridge with big wide eyes, a very helpful employee walked up and offered to help us. For the next few minutes, she described so many wines well that we wanted them all - but ultimately chose two that would fit in our wine bag. They also had bags of ice (which we needed for our wine bag) and a full liquor store selection (my husband picked up a bottle of bourbon after finding one that he couldn't live without). Our wines were wonderful (one kinda funky orange and one great pet nat), and the service was great as well. A wonderful shop for wine and other booze in Mystic!

Avoid this place by all means. Rude and beyond disrespectful customer service. To the woman that worked today, you need to work on your attitude big time! Laughable and pathetic to put it lightly!

Favorite spirit shop in town! Jules is the best for recommendations for anything you could be looking for. Amazing customer service and products. I always leave with something interesting and new to try.

I have been in this location under this ownership as well as last, and this is the 1st chance I've gotten to write a review.... Or maybe I'm just realizing this ownership stands out more than the last. I've been an avid craft brew connoisseur for as long as I can remember now....which they have plenty to choose from...ranging from hoppiest of hoppy to sourest of sour. You will not be disappointed with their beer selection. You must check out the frigid cooler or you may miss out on a treat!! With that being said I was fairly recently turned onto different whiskies and bourbons, and I was slightly overwhelmed by the spirit selection. So much that I spent some time browsing their inventory on their website (how cool is that) before returning to make a selection. My expectations were exceeded when I asked a quick question about one bourbon.....I can't get over the knowledge of every staff member, from the owners themselves to every member of their staff. Each one of them them can describe each spirit, pair it, and are passionate about each and every one. This could be a good thing or this could be a really bad thing, because it's really hard to choose just one. Let's just say the cabinet is looking good from here. I hope to return soon maybe just for a conversation, maybe not..... Make sure to stop in if your downtown Cheers

Very disappointed....was welcomed when we walked in, asked if we needed assistance then when I went to pay they said we couldn't sell me the wine because not everyone in my group was over 21. I'm 42 and was with my daughter... why does she need to be over 21 for me to buy a bottle of wine!!! This was not mentioned to us when we walked in...and absolutely outrageous! It's ok another location got my business that night and going forward!!

This is the best wine shop I've ever been to for many reasons. One being the absolutely massive selection of wine that you can get from here. You can get wine from alll over the world, with all different personalities and price points. Walking in I was a bit overwhelmed because the store just has SO many types of wine, but the man working there was incredibly helpful. He walked me through all the different selections for my preferences and helped me choose a few bottles that became my favorite wines. I will be back!!

If you go here talk to Jules. She's AMAZING. I went in mid day to get a good Scotch. She helped me to get the exact one that I wanted. Later on in the day I went in to get the ingredients make Negroni's. I did not know which brands to buy. After her questioning about flavor profiles, I was steered towards 2 or 3 of the different brands. Jules was not pushy and not only suggesting the most expensive. I was incredibly impressed with her and now I'm willing to drive 2 hours from my house, to her store because of how helpful she was. I made my first ever Negroni the next night, OMG, Jules is AMAZING. She helped me pick the absolute best ingredients for the best Negroni I have ever had.

This is a decent shop to buy some wine in Mystic. When I went there, the staff really didn't know what they were doing which is why I only am giving it three stars. There were writeups with Robert Parker reviews that were unclear which wine it was pointing at (it only said it was rated RP 93 pts) and when I asked which one it was they said they didn't know. Most of the wines here were your run of the mill choices but they did have selections like La Grande Dame, Dom Perignon, etc. Just don't expect that to be the majority. Still, I'd come back here since I haven't yet found a lot of great wine shops in the area and it isn't terrible. There are some good selections if you know what to look for.

Such a well curated liquor store in downtown Mystic! Plenty of wines & spirits to peruse with a helpful staff. Tons of whiskey from local stuff & as far away as Japan. Definitely something for everyone. They're slowly getting their craft beer selection up to snuff but there's a good enough selection. Plus you never know when there might be some Sip of Sunshine or G-Bot lurking around. They will be adding a shelf for warm bombers in the near future! Overall it's my favorite new stop. Follow their social media as they do lots of tastings. Plus if they have a bottle open they'll let you sample some.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE: I made a large purchase for Christmas. Before the package arrived, I received a call from UPS saying the glass bottles were poorly packaged and had broken to the extent that the shipment was trashed. I contacted Universal Package Store for a refund with the expectation that, as the shipper, they had the leverage and the ease to file a claim with UPS. In fact, UPS noted they work with the shipper in these cases, not the receiver. I requested the refund and was told by Universal Package Store that I was responsible for filing the claim with UPS. I called UPS...they do not process claims for the receiver, only the shipper. So now I have to fight to receive my refund??? Terrible customer service. UPDATE 12/21: I received my refund once UPS confirmed the damage. I am satisfied with the outcome. I just wish the initial response had been a bit more understanding.

Go to LOOK at the good whiskey selection...leave because the worker (male) in the back of the store has an awful attitude and they up-charge their top shelf whiskey... They had a great bottle of whiskey there but have marked it up 50% from MSRP. When I asked if there was a reason they were asking so much over MSRP, his response was, "Yes." When asked for the reason, the response, "it'll sell." Apparently, the business is not interested in getting great whiskey into the hands of those that love and respect whiskey. If the concern is whiskey hunters reselling it, just tell me that and I would've gladly opened it and shared a pour with him.

Ignorant and rude staff. I entered this liquor store as an out of state tourist and was treated rudely and refused a purchase simply because my 16 yo minor daughter was with me. I was at the Lynn & Spencer Mystic store. The tourist Main Street is cute but really not worth the aggravation of the extremely rude locals. In hindsight, the ignorant and inappropriate behavior which was represented by this business was not surprising considering the trashy and dirty surrounding area. I would never advise anyone to visit this area or give this particular business their money. Trash will simply be trash.

Full disclosure, I own a liquor store so I'm sensitive when I shop at other stores because most are terrible! Not these guys though! Two incredibly knowledgeable women running the place today (I wish they worked for me!). A GREAT selection of wine at reasonable prices - we got Sea Smoke Pinot Noir and Schrader Double Diamond Cab along with some New Riff Bourbon that isn't available in MA. They gave us an "industry discount" which was not expected. We were very impressed with this store and their staff.

The tall lady is the best. Super knowledgeable. I learned a lot about about Italian wine, chartreuse, and most importantly the industry of evaluating beverages in general. 10/10 see you guys tomorrow.

I can't say enough good about this local business Mystic. They have my heart and my patronage always. The store manager Jules couldn't have been sweeter as she delivered my margarita package to my doorstop. It doesn't get any better than that! A true Mystic gem!

What a fun and friendly liquor store! I went in looking for something to get a friend for her 21st birthday and frankly know very little about good alcohol myself. The owner happened to be there and was very friendly and helpful - he even picked out a custom six pack of beers for me. My friend loved each one (especially the Fisher's Island Lemonade)! I'm also a huge fan of prosecco and he picked out a couple for me to look at, explaining which were a bit fruitier and which were a bit drier. The ambience itself is very warm and welcoming and they have a unique selection of beers, wines, and liquors. It really feels like your friendly neighborhood joint, though I, myself, have been in few liquor stores beyond the big chain shops. Maybe it's the beautiful wooden wine racks or the handwritten signs, but something about the shop just felt homey. Overall, as someone who is typically daunted by the task of perusing a liquor store and picking out something that will actually be decent, I found Universal Package Store and its staff to be a delight. I also understand they do many tasting events and promotions, so I'm looking forward to checking some of those out as well!

Great addition to downtown Mystic. Excellent selection of wine, including a lot of smaller labels. CJ and his staff are all super friendly and very knowledgeable about their stock, and they always seem to have the perfect recommendation, whatever the occasion or price point. They haven't steered me wrong yet! Definitely check out their wine tastings too.

This is a great shop in downtown mystic. Awesome selection, knowledgeable staff. They answer any questions and make really good recommendations. Nice to have a reason to go to Main Street mystic.

WOW! I have never been to a liquor store like this! The selection is incredible, the staff is knowledgable, and the decor is beautiful. Just a great store to browse and look for new and interesting alcohols. They have all the basics plus a TON more. Parking in the back makes it super convenient when downtown is busy.... plus they told me they have delivery!

Eden is my hero! Somebody please give her a raise! Buckets of slush have been falling from the sky for hours now. I had called Grand Wine and Spirits at 6:45 to ask if they were closing early and they said "No! We'll be here till 9!" But guess what! They left at 7:30! So I called Universal and Eden answered, 8pm. She said she was walking out the door. I asked her to please please please wait 5 minutes, and she did! God bless Eden, God bless Universal, and God bless America! Give Universal your business! They will be there for YOU!
