Spice 6 Modern Indian

A nice Indian restaurant in Washington DC. We went there for dinner. Nice clean place with nice interiors. Lots of North Indian & South Indian Dishes with Veg & Non Veg options. Authentic Indian taste and reasonable rates. Loved it. 👍🏻🇮🇳

I ordered Matar Paneer (medium spicy) with one naan and half bowl of rice. The food was flavorful — paneer was soft, gravy was authentic, and the spice level was just right. Naan was medium-soft and fresh. The portion size was decent for one person. Total bill: around $24. Overall, a good Indian food experience in DC. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 / 5)

Tried the onion uttapam and it was huge, filling, and really nice, perfectly cooked and satisfying. The sambar was flavorful, and the chutney paired well with everything. Also had the samosas, which was nice and crispy, just as expected. Overall, a comforting and enjoyable meal!

The food itself isn’t bad and has decent flavor. I’ve eaten here about five times in the last few months, but they got my order wrong on three of those visits (see photo—they served something completely different instead of the chicken karahi I ordered). There’s also a persistent unpleasant odor throughout the restaurant that’s hard to ignore; it honestly smells like sewage or something similar. Overall, the prices are too high for the inconsistent service and experience. Not recommended

Never had a meat dosa before! Lamb dosa was excellent. The tomato soup was hot and tasty. Their chai (instant I think) not too sweet and wonderful cardamon taste. Also has the lamb salad, though I ordered a side veg, was very filling, had the green spicy chutney (not served on the side, it was poured on top) which set the spice level perfectly for me.

It's essentially the Indian version of Chipotle with many, many, more options. The food was delicious and the portions are more than generous. The staff was extremely friendly and prepared my wrap quickly. The wrap cost around $16 dollars but was easily enough for two servings. I highly recommend visiting Spice 6 if you enjoy Indian food that is made to order and readily available.

I had an okay experience at Spice 6, a fast-casual Indian restaurant that lets you customize your own bowl, wrap or pizza. The restaurant was clean and modern, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The price and the portion were fair, but I expected more flavor and quality from an Indian restaurant. The staff verbally confirmed that everything in the menu is Halal.

Delicious 🤤 look no further. Indian food with a new style and concept. Mysor Masa dosa was really good compared to plain dosa. Vada Pav was okay, nothing out of the ordinary but their Bahubali burger 🍔 was flavorful

Pleasantly surprised by how good the food is at this fast casual establishment. Everyone is super helpful and nice. Bhel: really fresh vegetables, spicy, and not oily Dosa: super light and the sambar was flavorful Low key Chinatown is kinda sketch but the food is worth the trek. 10/10

Yikes! Very disappointed in the food. Large portions, but flavor was lacking and off-putting. The only items I liked was the Sambar and the Marsala Samosa Burger. However, both were not worth a repeat. The Uttappam was not tasty at all. One bite and it was then trashed. The bhindi masala was flavorful but difficult to eat because the okra was tough and stringy. The garlic naan was uneventful and the spinach was okay but too much paneer that were way too large.

Decent tasting food, but food was served on paper on top of a plastic tray! I was disgusted from eating food from paper versus a disposal plate to keep your cost low. Very disappointing! If you are starving and want to pay expensive price and eat food served on paper then this is the place to go to! Good luck!

This the second time I've tried the food here. The rava dosa was really good. The potato filling and sambar was very flavorful. The vadas were a good size, crispy, and not overly oily. They could have used a little bit more salt and seasoning. We also had the gulab jaman and you could taste the oil in them.

Stopped in after seeing a sign for the naan tacos. Ordered paneer tacos which came with two sides--rice and chickpeas. Really enjoyed the tacos and the sides were pretty good! Overall a tasty and quick meal

Spice 6: where even the novice in Indian cuisine can embark on a spicy adventure! My lamb and chickpea salad danced a flavorful tango on my taste buds, not too spicy to send me into a water-drinking frenzy. Now, the Date's chicken extravaganza - a symphony of spice! He devoured it with such gusto that I thought he might start breathing fire. Leaving with satisfied taste buds and plans for a spicy encore - Spice 6, you'll see us again! Our food was so yummy that the only photo is of the receipt!

This place was good, but I don't understand all the hype and the reviews to be honest after getting my food. It wasn't as flavorful, and there was also a hair in my Samosa chaat that really threw me off the whole experience.

Not an authentic indian food. It's not like Indian Resturant it's like chocolate place made fusion with no taste .

Went here after a small stroll around Chinatown and we like this place! They have ample seating and the service is very much Chipotle/RASA-esque in the sense that you choose a base and then you can choose your toppings. The naan was very soft and the paneer was very flavorful. We got the naan wrap with rice, chickpeas, paneer, kadai masala, pickled onions and the green / red chutney and it was very filling! The price was also reasonable and I think a great quick meal, would definitely come again! We also got a cup of chai and we thought it was really good! I was a bit skeptical about the spices initially, as a South Asian myself, and this location however it exceeded my expectations :))

Let's start off with the good. Amazing Food! Huge variety, fresh ingredients, super clean. Variety includes all the dishes you would expect. Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag, Lentils, Dosa, Naan, and the list goes on. These are then combined in normal dishes, bowls, naan tacos, pizza, and whole bunch of other options. Plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options as well. The ingredients are fresh and prepared to order. Food comes out piping hot. The restaurant was clean and we saw them cleaning while we dined in. Service was incredible. They were very patient in helping us understand the menu. When the kitchen made a mistake when on the spice levels, they quickly corrected. When we misjudged the spice level, the quickly remade and corrected it. A little pricey, but worth it.

I wanted to like this but the sand I found in my food could not be overlooked. The tikka masala and spinach masala were bland and devoid of the flavors they should have had. The dosa uttapam saved the day. Service was okay for a casual restaurant. Be careful not to continue this health and safety hazard. No one wants to eat sand in their meal.

Overall Spice 6 definitely has unique food options. Their Naan Pizza and rice bowls are good! It's a fusion of Indian and American food and has a great twist on it. The flavors and ideas blend well together. However, I would NOT recommend spice 6 for the more traditional dishes. I've gotten biryani, vada pav , and dosa here, and the biryani is nottt good at all. It honestly made me feel really sick. The rice didn't seem fluffy or fresh as it should in biryani. The vada pav was nothing special and the dosa was okay! I would really say their forte is just their fusion foods like Naan pizza and Bahubali burger though. The service is good though, and they are kind and understanding there overall! It's a cute sit down spot for a smaller party!

I always thought a Chipotle version of Indian cuisine would do well. I always wondered why they never existed, but that's exactly what this place is! The naan wrap was great, lots of options for toppings. This place also has dosas and Indian style burgers. They also have Indian style pizzas which actually taste pretty good. The place was pretty busy and service was fast.

The hubs really liked the naan pizza option. I, on the other hand, like the more simplistic things like a paneer dosa. Naan pizza: The main protein was lamb with a tikka masala curry as the base with vik's red chutney along with extra garlic. I must say it's an interesting creation. Your taste buds will be hit with lots of flavors and wonderment about what you just created at an Indian restaurant. Paneer dosa: I was hoping there was a ton of paneer, but there was only a sprinkle of shredded ones in the middle of the wrapped dosa. It wasn't finely melted or prepared in any special way; I should have just stuck with the plain dosa then. It was accompanied with sambar and chutney that provided additional flavors.

A fantastic restaurant! I ordered a custom bowl with rice, chicken, kadai masala, sweet tamarind and spicy green chutneys for delivery. It arrived on-time, albeit with no utensils. My bowl was excellent, with well-cooked, seasoned, and plentiful chicken, amazing heat and flavor, perfectly cooked vegetables, and not too much salt. I look forward to returning and trying their other offerings!

The food is phenomenal. I move around a lot so every time I go to a new city I try the Indian food they offer. This butter chicken dish is unmatched! Perfection every time. When you order delivery they wrap it up so nicely that there is no spillage. The food is absolutely made with love! You will not regret trying them out!

Ordered lamb biryani. It was the most different biryani I ever had. The rice was sticky and there wasn't much lamb. It tasted more like jambalaya. Not very impressed. Plus we ordered medium spicy and there was no spice at all. .

Well, it's been a while since my first review, but my thoughts are still the same. The food here is amazing and really hits the spot. I ordered a rice bowl, like back in the day. The chicken was so good and tender; I got the spinach masala, which was very good, and thoroughly enjoyed having the option to pick whichever veggies/toppings added. I got the plain naan and the servers were nice enough to give me a little extra tikka masala (sauce) in a cup that was perfect to use for dipping. Great service, still great food, for an affordable price.

First time here and came in for lunch. Ordered the butter chicken. It was good but pricey for a takeout place. Left full though and my belly was happy.

We went for lunch today at this place and saw the reviews online were good. Food choices were good and the place was kept clean. Reason for giving them only two stars was for their staff. They didn't shy away from showing how much they hate working at this place. Or maybe they were having such a horrible day. Service is part of the overall experience of enjoying your food, and if the service you get is anything like we received here, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Love this place. Always good and hits the spot, my favorite is probably the naan pizza. It's good with paneer or chicken! Also like the chaat, the tacos, the dosa and the masala chai!!

We parked in Chinatown and were thinking we might have Chinese for lunch, but the reviews had us trying this restaurant instead. My meal was fantastic. I got the naan pizza, which is such a great idea and something I'd never seen before. I got it with tikka masala sauce and chicken, topped with mozzarella, onion and cilantro. My son got the butter chicken. He liked it a lot, but thought the chicken could be more tender. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would come back!

We randomly stopped in at this location to grab a bite to eat before the basketball game. This space had enough seating to accommodate us. The process to order and pay seemed a bit chaotic as staff was not doing a great job at directing folks to where they should be. The service was not exactly friendly either. As I write this review I'm still waiting on my chai tea and naan and my bowl is pretty much almost done. My bowl was great however they were a bit skimpy on the ingredients vs the other patrons that were ahead or behind me. I'd love to come back but the service needs to improve.

Needed a quick lunch as I was on jury duty this day and decided to walk in. All was very good but it was pricey $$. I understand inflation and things are expensive but this was pricey. It was good and I left happy.

Wow! Came to Spice 6 after a lackluster experience at Rasika and I was absolutely blown away. From the beginning the service was super friendly (she encouraged us to sample the different chicken flavors to see which we wanted) and she was very generous with the portions. We ordered the Rice chicken bowl (a make-your-own type bowl where we got to customize our curry, chutney, protein, and vegetables) and found everything to be super fresh and tasty. We also got the Shahi paneer dish, which came with a very generous portion of naan and rice. As expected, that was delicious as well. The physical interior of Spice 6 isn't exactly anything to write home about, but that was far outweighed by the great service and quality of the food. This may be the best Indian place in D.C. as well as the most reasonably priced. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town.

Fantastic food at a great price. Naan pizza is the best thing since sliced bread. Perfect to hit up before (or after) a Caps game.

If you're hankering for Indian breakfast in Chinatown, this is the spot to be. Even during my fasting day, when I couldn't indulge in garlic and onions, I was delighted to find a delectable South Indian alternative on the menu. And their chai didn't disappoint either, making it a complete breakfast experience.

I would recommend this place for South Indian dishes you can find. All dosas and idli, vada and Sambar is a must try. The Sambar and chutney is very authentic. The Mysore masala dosa is very close to the original taste. You will not find a better tasting South Indian dosa anywhere else.

Flavorful and somewhat authentic food in chinatown! Very modern and sleek interior, and the food came out very fast-- it's like a Chipotle-style restaurant. Portions were also big and I had leftovers to eat for lunch tomorrow!! Had a great meal here

OMG the rice is amazing.in fact everything was wonderful. We got garlic naan and that was delicious. The tiki Marsala was very good. I loved the green chutney. I was very pleasantly surprised and so glad we stopped. We both really enjoyed our meal and the staff was friendly to boot.

This is honestly a great stop for a filling and balanced meal. I got the kabob entrée. For my protein I got paneer and for my veggie side i got the seasonal vegetable mix. It had a bit of heat too it! It was nice. I honestly didn't even get to eat my side salad because I was too full, and we were going to a concert so I couldn't take my leftovers. The kabob entree also comes with rice and naan (and of course you pick a curry sauce). The manager (assuming he was the manager) also let us have more curry sauce on the side to try. It's a LOT of food. I would come here when you can take the food home after lol We also got some kulfi for dessert, which was delicious. If you haven't had it - it's a frozen sweetened condensed milk dessert (an ice cream basically). Honestly the best part was that the manager was so nice and made us feel legit welcome.

There is a lot to like about Spice 6. On the weird side, there is never anyone in there when I go. I'm not sure why, as the food it pretty good. I've gotten the wrap every time I've been. It takes a few minutes because they cook the naan fresh while you wait, and when it's ready you just load it up with goodies, Chipotle-style. I like getting the biryani rice because it's slightly more exiting than regular rice, and chickpeas because who doesn't love chickpeas? For a protein, the chicken and the paneer are both great, and I like the tikka masala sauce - so tasty! You can add veggies like lettuce and tomato, and a variety of chutneys. The result is a gigantic wrap of tasty naan and lots of great fillings. It is super messy but pretty damn good. But did I say messy? It's really, really messy.

After the snallygaster beer festival we stopped here for dinner. Rice bowls were yummy. Food was well made, quick, bathrooms were clean, ample seating. I'll be back to try those dosa I saw people ordering later.

We ordered the dosas. They were really good. But the sambar and chutneys were simply outstanding.

First, I cannot believe that I paid nearly $17 for what effectively was an Indian burrito. It was SUPER tasty. But $17??? Yeah, I will not be doing that again. It would have gone over a lot better if the staff there, appeared to be happy serving customers. They were TOTALLY miserable. If you are going to charge outrageous prices, AT LEAST, employ a staff who likes what they do and cares about your customers.

Nice place to stop by for a quick lunch. Not the best Indian curry I've had, but the fast casual Chipotle-style counter service means that you'll get some proper food served quickly. I tried the basmati rice bowl with chicken tikka masala, which was a hefty portion for $15.

Quick & delicious food. But they did have a change in their sauce. They do use dairy for the sauces which I didn't know before going there since I was going for vegan pizza. But great experience regardless!

I visited Spice 6 for the first time in about 2 years. This time around, I had the masala dosa. This was my first time having a dosa, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was delicious. The dosa I ordered included a potato filling. It also came with two dipping sauces and a side vegetable soup (spicy). I think Spice 6 has definitely earned a 4th star since my first review and I'm happy to see that they survived the pandemic, even while being on "death row" (the backside of the Capital One arena). I'm looking forward to exploring some of the other cook-to-order options on the menu.

Loved the food and the experience here at Spice 6. This is a fast casual option with a lot to choose from. I opted for a build your own bowl - which was a generous portion with fantastic flavors. My friend ordered from the regular menu and selected butter chicken, which was also great and another generous portion. Highly recommend!

Wow, this is our new vacation go to...and I will lobby to get this idea spread to Cali. All fast food should be Indian! A bit like chipotle, simply choose your base, protein, and sauce and then enjoy! The Dosa was simply divine!

Incredible staff. Very friendly. Fantastic food. My only complaint is that I don't live near here so I can't visit more. Management should be proud of this staff. They were so helpful and gave me directions around a city I wasn't familiar with. If they ever open a location in Baltimore I'll be the first customer there!

Spice 6 Modern Indian is a Chipotle version of Indian foos. You can pick your choice of rice and bread followed by protein and sauce. Overall, OK experience

We bumped into this restaurant by chance. The food was decent for fast food. We ordered Paneer Dosa which was very good. There are more than 20 kinds of dosas on the menu. Lamb Biryani was tender and tasty but buried under tons of rice. Too much rice and too little lamb. If I had known there were that much of carbohydrates, I wouldn't have ordered it. I wish there were pictures on the menu. It's trial and error.

Ordered buttered chicken takeout. Came with a giant fluffy naan. Large pieces of chicken, perfectly done, sauce has perfect spice and flavor. Not greasy at all, super simple. Will be buying again!

24 Oz. Butter Chicken $20.25 for really bad chicken and arguably an even worse curry. Chicken tasted like it was old and microwaved. It had a gross gaminess to it. The curry was also really sweet? Like they put a bunch of sugar in butter chicken? Idk what's going on but this was really disappointing butter chicken. Step up your game D.C

This place for sure is for people who have no taste buds!!! Like seriously how can someone be so bad!!! We travelled from Boston to DC and after searching for indo Chinese food out of all the places only this place was open at 2:45 in the afternoon. Horrible orange colored chilli chicken with salt!!! And this was after the guy asked about spice level World's worst tikki chaat ... I wanted to go back and ask them that what did they mix in their tikki to make it taste so bad!!! Please Indian food doesn't taste this horrible. MKe friends with good Indian people and eat in their homes!!

For a fast food Indian eatery it was good, they are true to the spicy level, super friendly; and very customers oriented. I got spicy Curry lamb which was super spicy, the lamb was very tender; and richly flavored. The garlic naan had crispy, flaky; exterior and a bit chewy just like i like it but the garlic were raw and not buttery, i didn't like that.

My boyfriend grabbed us some lunch. He built a Naan wrap for me. It was SO good. The Naan was tasty alone. Add the flavorful chick tikka masala and yummy chutney and it knocked it out of the park. The portion was also pretty big and I made two meals out of it.
