Very clean and pleasant atmosphere in the dining area. A clean bathroom is a huge plus! We started with the lentil soup with lemon, which was very flavorful. The jumbo beef burger was juicy and big enough to split with my husband. The stake wrap was disappointing, it was too dry since there was a very thin layer of meat with a giant wrap that was very chewy and dry. The chili sauce did not help. The tahini was bitter. The seasoned fries were good. Overall not a bad place to try new flavors in a new environment.

Best and delicious shawarma i tried in Illinois. Beef Meat is soft and juicy, and it tastes so good! Definitely coming back for it once a week at least! And its really affordable👍

Spice & Fire Grill (مطعم بهار و نار) offers a delightful culinary experience with its traditional and aesthetic ambiance. The takeout I enjoyed was not only delicious but also beautifully packed, reflecting their attention to detail. I can't wait to return and dine in for more of their flavorful offerings!

Google
I found the restaurant after it was featured in the local Chicago News. I have not had Iraqi food in Chicago before and the hostess was so patient in taking her time to make sure we were comfortable and excited about what we ordered. The customer service was GREAT and the menu is VERY modestly priced. People often say, “you won’t eat Italian food in America after you go to Italy.” Well, I recently took a vacation to Istanbul, Turkey and I have not enjoyed the kind of quality food I found while in the Middle East until now. Spice & Fire Grill rises to the occasion. The cuisine tastes like it is sourced only with fresh ingredients and professionally cooked and prepared by people who know the exact tradition and craft required for the dish. 10/10 across the board. Bravo!

Google
We had lunch from here. This is a Zabiha halal restaurant. The dishes we had were delicious especially the lamb Quzi platter. The meat combo platter is more than enough for the number of people mentioned in the menu. It’s definitely a tryout place. The staff are also friendly and welcoming to us.

We went for dinner on a weekday. The people who work there are so friendly and their hospitality is great. They have complimentary lentil soup at the beginning and it is so good. We ordered 3 meals. The portion of the meals was good more on the big side. The food taste is great. The prices are reasonable for the quality they serve. They also have the tea table for free you can get as much as you want tea. I highly recommend this place and will visit again. 😃

Google
First time coming here and the roasted half chicken dinner did not disappoint! The meal came with rice, onions, bread, and lentil and bean soup. My husband loved his combination meat dinner as well. They serve large portions for an excellent price. The ambiance as well was inviting, cozy, and beautifully decorated. The service from the moment we entered was inviting and took me back to my wonderful memories of our trips to Morocco. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. I will definitely be back 🙏🏼❤️

Google
We learned via a search that this restaurant services Iraqi cuisine so we went to try it out. And we were stumped by the high quality food and service. We tried the lamb qafri platter which come with a choice of rice and a soup, shawarma sandwich meal which comes with rice, fries, and a drink, and egg plant salad. All dishes were exceptional. The egg plant salad was very unique with its mild seasoning. The lamb shank was slow cooked in aromatic spices and it was juicy. The waiter was kind to serve us complimentary lentil soup which was delicious. However we did note the limited menu options and very few Iraqi specialized options. They also add a 3% charge for credit card use but they are upfront about it. Nevertheless, we are definitely going here again. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Spice and fire was legit fire. It's just truly amazing. This place is tiny but mighty, I gotta tell you. It is so easy to miss as it is located in a mini strip mall, but don't let the location fool you. The food makes up for everything that the store front lacks. The decor is cute and clean. It has some influences from the arabic culture but also some nice seating. The place was so clean that I was impressed. We came in and, as you can tell, had a decent amount of food. First off, the portions are generous, so be aware when you order as you will need to go boxes. Second, the ingredients were just the freshest. I may have had the most incredible falafel ever. If you have read my reviews, you know I am a falafel snob. I refuse to eat a soggy falafel, and I will be vocal about it. Well, to put in perspective, I ordered 6, and I wish I could have ordered 12. They were surreal. The eggplant dish was full of flavor, too. I anticipated being warm, but it tasted so good that it didn't make a difference to me. Move over, Pita Inn, there is a new sheriff in town. This place puts all mediterranean joints to shame. Come and visit! Guarantee you will not be disappointed. You honestly might see me there.

Yelp
Spice & Fire Grill on Golf Road in a small strip mall in Morton Grove, IL. Nice family Mediterranean/Iraqi restaurant w/a nice brightly lit interior a cool authentic decor inside. The server was awesome and we give him 5 plus stars, unfortunately we didn't feel the same about the food. I ordered a combination sandwich w/chicken? Why I have no idea? The chicken was fried and super thin served on a bread that I didn't eat w/tomatoes, lettuce & Mayo. Mehhh why I ordered this I don't know 1 star absolutely no flavor. This came w/fries were very.good. I also had a cup of excellent lentil soup - 5 stars My sister ordered a combination plate that came w/a beef Kifta which was very good 5 stars. The shawarma was dry & lacked flavor & the rice was mediocre. Overall the ambiance was a very clean nice family friendly restaurant. The decor was very nice w/ some beautiful Persian light fixtures and some nice wall decorations - 4 stars The server was the highlight super friendly w/great service - 5 stars. The food other than the lentil soup & Kifta (5 stars) was very mediocre

Yelp
This place is a small Iraqi run strip mall restaurant.  It's hard to differentiate amongst the various Middle East ethnic groups, but it's nice to know anyway.  I tried a carryout of their lunch special, which on Tue-Thu from noon-3pm, means their $16.49 lunch goes for $9.49.  I have to go with a "Meh" 2.5 stars that rounds up to 3 stars given the discount.   I had it mixed meat, meaning a mix of chicken and meat.  The container had a lot of white rice covered by a thin layer of meats (container was about 60% full of rice).  The rice was ok, and went well though with the meats which were salty.  There's no pita bread and no sauces, and I'm not sure sauces like Tzatziki are an Iraqi tradition anyway.  The modest lunch was barely ok for $9.49, and definitely not for $16.49.  One and done for me, but best of luck in any event.

Yelp
Had a carry out order here with the family. My wife had stopped by to go pick it up and told me that it was quite busy inside. The staff seemed to be friendly but food did take a little bit for it to be ready. My wife had the shish tawook platter, I had the escalope (their fried chicken sandwich) and the iraqi chicken shawarma sandwich. I'll start off with the escalope. I honestly was not impressed and from the pictures I saw online, I think I got a completely different sandwich. I'll attach pictures for reference but the bun looks different that I got and I had no fries on the sandwich. The rest of the food, my wife and I agreed it was just ok. Was expecting some more flavor. Very interesting that their garlic sauce is in a prepackaged packet but tahini seemes to be in house. Overall ok food in my opinion but the marketing with the boxes are great!

Yelp
First and last time. The worst customer service and the prices and their pictures gallery is misleading. I order 7 beef kabobs and 3 chicken kabobs. I paid over $50 and they sold me half skewers not as advertised on their website. I called and complained to the manager and he said that the order was fulfilled. Never going back to this place again. Plus the chicken kabobs were terrible tasting. I can't believe these people are still in business. STAY AWAY... many other better options that you can get from other places and more reasonable prices..

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch! Not bad, I LOVED the hummus - so delicious. The chicken shawarma was dry and not as tasty. I liked the sandwich with the samoon bread, but it tastes so much better when it's warm. The chicken burger sandwich was much more tasty than the shawarma. Would go back for the hummus!

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by for lunch, and the food was delicious! I got the falafel sandwich with fries, and my friend got Spice and Fire Kabob Platter, and she loved it. They give you complimentary lentil soup, which we didn't like - it was bitter. The inside of the restaurant is spotless. Our only complain was that the service wasn't good - when we went it wasn't busy, and the people taking our order kept going back and forth to the kitchen, didn't answer our questions and were rude. If the service were better, I would go back!

Yelp
The best Middle Eastern food I had outside the Middle East. I can't believe the how reasonable were the prices! Everything was delicious, authentic and fresh. I definitely recommend this place if you love middle eastern food or would like to try it. The service is outstanding and the staff is super friendly.

Natalie O.

Yelp
Avoid this place as their food is not flavored at all. Their employees make you feel very uncomfortable and rushed. They tried to add extra food to the table and claimed that we ordered it ... Avoid this place.
google avatar

Jazz S.

Yelp
We didn't eat in here but stopped by for coffee and dessert! It's got a very cute casual ambience inside with lovely decor! The people were friendly and the Mediterranean food looks bomb! Looks like the locals know this is a go to spot as it was fairly busy while we were there!

Yelp
Their tomato rice? *chefs kiss* The interior is cute and much more fancy home-like rather than traditional restaurant which makes it super unique. After working all day with a 30 minute break before my next call, I decided to order their combo platter (which is a great Tues-Thurs lunch deal!) since I wanted to try a little bit of everything. I forgot how they explained their different flavors of rice but I got tomato and biriyani? That tomato was so good. I had leftovers but to my dismay, my younger niece ate it all so I wasn't able to savor it for later. I've driven past this restaurant so many times but never again! Now I'm looking forward to coming back for lunch and hopefully dine indoors.

Yelp
This is not authentic Iraqi food this is TRASH FOOD AND INSULTING!!! U got Mexicans cooking the food?! Please explain why?! The taste is horrible either too oily or salty and dry meat! They charge you for everything !! The owners sit around and just smile knowing damn well this is unacceptable! MAY ALLAH FORGIVE THOSE GREEDY PEOPLE WHO CLAIM THE MEAT IS HALAL AND ITS NOT!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow, this restaurant is packed! It's like walking into a restaurant pre-pandemic. The restaurant isn't that big either. Customers aren't even seated that far apart, customers are walking around without their masks on and so are the employees, cooks, and manager! The cooks and waiters had it on their chin and below their nose, and the manager had it on his chin. The only employee wearing his mask correctly was the cashier. The food though, pretty good! I ordered the shish Tawook with mixed biryani and red rice, and lentil soup. It was good, especially the lentil soup and biryani rice! Both flavorful and made me want more! The chicken was like eating normally seasoned roasted chicken. It wasn't very unique, but it wasn't bad at all. I wish it was more juicy. My friend ordered the chicken shawarma and I thought that was better than the shish Tawook. I would order the chicken shawarma in the future! The thing I wouldn't do is walk in there to order out or dine inside.

Yelp
So an update...I just called at 1:07 to order some lunch specials and was informed that the lunch specials are now only until 1:00, as opposed to 3:00 as it has been and STILL states on their website. Oh and they raised the lunch special price by $2.

Yelp
The Big Boss and his staff made us feel welcome and gave us an amazing experience! Thank you so much for the delicious food and great ambiance!

Yelp
I placed an online order and it was ready to be picked up within ~30 minutes. However, I realized that the hummus was missing once I arrived home and also received a call from the restaurant telling me to come back. I had already changed out of my street clothes so I sent hubby to go fetch it. We were also shocked and disappointed that not one of the 5-6 workers were wearing masks even though it is mandated by the CDC during these COVID times regardless of vaccination status. Hubby and I shared the meat kebab platter which came with red rice, pickles, and tomatoes/cucumbers. The meat kebabs were good but I didn't care for the side of pickles, tomatoes, and cucumbers. We also shared a large hummus and falafels. The falafels were on the dry side so I coated each one with a big dollop of hummus to help me pretend that they weren't so dry. Overall, Spice and Fire isn't bad and I would have considered coming back if it wasn't for the service and poor masking.

Yelp
I'm always looking for some food Mediterranean food in the area and this for sure is in my favorite list!! Not sure how I'm only seeing this place now when they have been here for a few years but glad I came across it. The right amount of spice and all! Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Really nice place . The food taste is soo good . we have been there twice now. the first time we had the platter for 5 and it was good for like 10 people the biryani and red rice were so tasty as was their meat. the second we went there we had their wraps and their jumbo beef burger which is insanely huge and so juicy and tasty . i will definitely make this a regular place i go to
google avatar

Nadezhda K.

Yelp
Really clean new spot. Tried the half chicken and was bombarded with a great deal of food. The lentil soup which comes with every meal is extremely delicious as well as the fasoulia. The meat itself was very tender and juicy and it was marinated very well in a number of spices notable turmeric. I chose the red rice, unfortunately I am not a big fan of tomatoes but that is on me would have probably preferred the yellow or brown ones. They also had some cool Arab sodas which were quite delicious. I recommend this spot to anyone in the area. Service was very fast and we were seated immediately.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem and its so gooooood. Everything I have tried from here has been fire. Nice service too and you get a ton of food. Def recommend.

Yelp
My new favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in Chicago. Great quality food reasonably priced. A lot of selections and friendly service.

Faiza M.

Yelp
Amazing authentic food. This is our third visit and the food has been flawless every time. It's authentic, fresh and flavorful. We have tried the shush kabab, the quzi and the fish and they were all prepared perfectly. The lentil soup is good and so is the beans side dish, although a bit sweet. We came here because of a TikTok review and so happy we did.
google avatar

Gin G.

Yelp
Yay!! Surprisingly so but super glad to see a new place open up near the house during Covid!! Did a take out order and the food was delicious! Being vegan, we're always looking for a new spot to see if their menu can be "veganized" but didn't really need to with this one. They had plenty of vegan (and vegetarian) items on the menu. We got the falafel, their veggie rice and the chef made us a "off the menu" dish with caramelized onions eggplants and tomatoes. It was absolutely delicious n any leftovers would be perfect over a bowl of pasta! Can't wait to try more dishes from this place!

Daniel K.

Yelp
Food was decent. But beware, even though I was dining solo, and it is pay first system, they auto charged 18% tip without telling me when I was paying. Should really change this system. This is not how tip works.
google avatar

Jenny K.

Yelp
I cannot speak to its authenticity, but it was pretty darn good in my book. Food took one time to cook as it is made to order. Staff was very friendly. I asked for some unusual combinations and they sweetly accommodated after confirming it was ok. Ambience: super cute decor. Order at the counter, and no seating available currently due to covid, but environment makes me want to sit and have a meal there eventually. Food: chicken was a bit salty for my liking, but well balanced with hummus. Beef perfectly seasoned and tender. Eggplant salad- amazing. Hummus perfectly balanced. Not too strong of flavor. Lafta- I was expecting naan, and my friend kindly corrected me of my ignorance. FYI- if you are used to hummus coming with bread, it doesn't. I was educated by the cashier that it's usually just eaten as an appetizer or with meat and occasionally bread. It was very good with the meat and I may just eat it like that all the time now...

Yelp
This place has the friendliest staff and best Iraqi food in the area. The owners are friendly and very hands-on so the vibe is amazing. The restaurant is new, clean, and has beautiful decor that adds to the pleasant ambiance. I'd recommend trying their shawarma, combo, or specialty kabob platter. Be sure to try the baklava and znoud el sit for dessert, you won't regret it!

Kristen H.

Yelp
Found this yummy place about a yr ago and love the chicken shawarma sandwich on Iraqi bread it was absolutely delicious nice and juicy very flavorful, tried the beef shawarma also very good , great service beautiful decoration inside. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
10/10!! Food and service were excellent! Ambiance was lovely and comfortable! If you want Iraqi cuisine in Chicago this is your destination! I highly recommend Lamb Quzi and mix grill! And their beef burger is fantastic too! I had a really good time with my family there during my recent visit to Chicago! Stay awesome!

Bisma M.

Yelp
Open late! Food was really good, tried the medium spice wrap and oh was it spicy compared to Porto's peri peri!
google avatar

Abby M.

Yelp
I had the worst experience dining here. Firstly, the service is really bad and they even charge you for water. It is not mentioned anywhere that gratuity is included for dine-in and even though you have to place the order yourself. When we asked this question, the person taking the orders literally asked us to step aside and did not even bother. Food is also not that great. Service is terrible and people are very rude. I don't recommend this place at all. I feel like the owners are just greedy and charge you for everything.
google avatar

Eyad E.

Yelp
Amazing food , fresh mad with love ! Owners are very friendly and welcoming, clean place busy but quality sill amazing. Will come again and again. Recommend this place to everyone. Drove almost an hour to eat , I don't regret and will do it again.
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
The wait time was long ~30min, but the food was very good and fresh. I am so glad to have found this place. It's a little pricier than what I am use to but I thought the quality was very good. The parking is no issue and it's next to a few other restaurants you may want to pop in for sweets.

Mohammed K.

Yelp
They claim serving only Zabiha meat but please investigate before you consume any meat product from this place. I called the location and asked where they get their meat from, I was shocked to receive different responses from individuals who work there. One stated they get it from Iraq other said NO IDEA another said possibly same where Al-Baladi gets it. Now you do the math and decide. I think its FALSE claim about Zabiha/Halal.
google avatar

Omar W.

Yelp
Great food they give excellent portions. Everything is extremely fresh and tasty I enjoyed coming here very great alternative to other restaurants in the area

Sam S.

Yelp
Very good food and good service. I tried the Iraqi Shawerma and it was delicious. I alsso had the lentil soup and it was very tasty.
google avatar

Rana Y.

Yelp
Amazing, clean, fresh and delicious food! The only thing about it is that you have to get up yourself to order, grab manu and also pay! I feel it would be easier to have someone help your table specifically! Other than that! I personally love this place Definitely have to try the chicken scallop sandwich! The fish dish! And red rice with chicken

Azad T.

Yelp
Truly the best Mediterranean and middle eastern food I've had in the Chicago land area. Excellent quality food and taste, outstanding service at reasonable prices . Azad

Yelp
Great Iraki food in a very hospitable environment. My thanks to the whole team. The lamb dish was great, portion and quality. Service was friendly and knowledgeable.
google avatar

Yelp
It's good to have a HALA restaurant near us, the food is good compared to its price. However, maybe the could improve the scallop a little. Nice restaurant & worth a visit.
google avatar

Muhammad A.

Yelp
The restaurant accommodated our group of 25 people very well. The food came very quickly and it was super delicious . Authentic Iraqi meals. All home made style with great taste and wonderful service. They were very generous and helpful in making suggestions for our large group. Meat is all halal. We had great time and we enjoyed talking to the owner and staff. Definitely would try it again and again.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant and great food you will be surprise also great staff the owner on site they offer you bottle of water and cut of soup for free I will be going back again
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the lamb special and it was perfectly cooked. The rice was excellent and can't wait to try other dishes.

AJ S.

Yelp
A friend brought me here and I was so pleasantly surprised to have some of the best hummus and baba ganoush I've ever tasted. And to top the experience off the staff was kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys or is curious about middle eastern food.

Mike Z.

Yelp
Best Iraqi food in Chicago land area. The Doulmeh is amazing and The Qouzi is phenomenal. Best part is the owners of the restaurant are extremely nice and welcoming.
google avatar

Ethar A.

Yelp
We really enjoyed the Iraqi flavors this restaurant offer. We love visiting Chicago to try real Iraqi food and this restaurant is the best to represent real Iraqi food. I like the location, style and cleanness of the restaurant. The Lamp chops are the best. The Kabab is really good. The grilled chicken was not the best but ok. The Chicken skewers and Burger were really good. I Highly recommend visiting while you are in Chicago! We used to go to Baghdad restaurant but it looks like the food style changed from last time we visited and we were so happy to find Spice and Fire this time.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and great service.. definitely going back! The jumbo burger is a killer!!!
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
First impression is good. It is clean, comfortable, a relaxing and welcoming environment. I ordered the chicken shawarma dinner. The cook who took my order was a bit abrupt and aggressive. "You want beef right?" No. Chicken shawarma please. The menu is unclear about the contents of the dinner. I was asked what rice I wanted. The choice was white rice or biryani. I got the biryani. 15 minutes later, my order was placed on the counter. The cashier showed up and helped another customer who had phoned in a large order. Finally, after 20 minutes, I got my food and headed home. The service must be improved. The food was decent and unique. The chicken shawarma was a little dry. A little oil on the grill would help. The flavor was good though. It needed a sauce. They had a few but didn't offer or include any. The pickled vegetables were good. The cucumber and tomato to salad was good. Both were very limited. The look in the cavernous to go container was not good. The best part of the meal was the rice. It was well cooked and smelled of cinnamon and nutmeg. It was tender fluffy and flavorful. Unique and well done. They have been there 7 months. There is potential. They must: clarify the menu to manage expectations, treat customers like they are important, deliver a reasonable speed of service, and do a little work on improving their food product. I want to go back. Not sure I will.
google avatar

Aurelio P.

Yelp
Great new middle eastern restaurant in the area. Some of the best chicken shawarma I have had, and the hummus was also outstanding! Can't wait to try some more items on the menu will definitely be back!

Kiran S.

Yelp
The ambiance is gorgeous! You would not expect it to be as pretty as it is. Very nice to take your out of town holiest stop. We ordered the big family platter and everything on it was delicious. The service is great too. Highly recommend
