Spice Kitchen West African Grill

The food was excellent—full of flavor with just the right spice level. Prices were a bit on the higher side, but the generous portions made up for it. Overall, I’d definitely go back and recommend giving this place a try. The only downside was that not everything on the menu was available; I was really looking forward to trying the puff puff and meat pie. Hopefully, they’ll have them next time!

First off, I just want to say I love Spice Kitchen. But I wanted to provide this review so this spot continues the success that I wish they continue to have. And I honestly feel this can be accomplished with reviews that are constructive. So today, I was really disappointed in the quality of the Beef Suya. It was extremely dry, tasteless, and overcooked beef. Also this is my fault because I should have checked, but the Stew that was an additional cost was not included.

Purchased lunch for 2 ppl: The food was really great and I am picky about both my plaintain and chicken. The atmosphere was good atmosphere. The Mango drink was good also. The pricing was reasonable considering the taste and portion size. The service was ok neither bad or great, it was average. You can sit in or take out. I would return.

Updating my review from 5 to 3 stars as of July 2025 - I’ve been 2 more times since my initial review and each time the food has been soooo oily. My jollof was sitting in oil. Pictures as proof. I’m disappointed Food was absolutely delicious! Legitimate smoky jollof and soft beef suya with half salmon. I like that I could do half and half of the proteins. Most West African restaurants in the area disappoint but this place exceeded my expectations. Flavors were nicely balanced no excessive maggi or salt.

I brought my friends along to dine in with me. I went with the rice and stew platter this time, since I had the jollof rice on my previous visit which was absolutely delicious. However, the stew tasted a bit bitter. Unexpectedly, the owner or manager came over to our table asking for feedback. I was hesitant at first, but I eventually shared my honest thoughts about the stew. To my surprise, he immediately offered me a free plate of jollof rice and asked his staff to bring him a sample of the stew to taste for himself. I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience really stood out. I truly appreciate a restaurant that values its customers and takes their feedback seriously. I’ll definitely be back with more friends

Not a bad West African place. I came for lunch with some coworkers. I got the suya steak because the salmon was sold out. Kind of weird how something was sold out at 12:25pm but business must be booming. The steak was well cooked along with the jollof rice, spinach and plantain. I would come back. The customer service was great and I liked the music selection. For those that like spice, the suya hot isn't that hot but if you don't like spice you can go with the regular.

I ended up trying this restaurant instead of the one I had planned to visit at R House. Service is friendly, quick and easy; walk up, place your order and a few minutes wait. Seeing as I’d never had suya before I tried the spicy wing plate along with spinach and jollof rice. Different taste but really good! Thanks guys!

I really like this establishment. I was first introduced to them in the parking lot of the Bowie Town Center. I had the spicy honey wings with jollof rice and plantains. It was immaculate!!! This occasion made me visit at least 2-3 other times. On the 2nd or third time, I didn't really care for the wings because they were starting to get a little too big, and I like my wings on the smaller side. The rice is always great with the sauce they provide and more than enough plantains. The last time I went, I got the lamb, and that was really good. I'll definitely return, but the area is kind of busy with traffic and not the easiest to get to when I'm commuting. Post Update 6/29/25: I visited this establishment again for at least the 4th time. The side sauce that you eat with the rice was amazing! I should've gotten the jollof rice because the white rice was very mediocre. It was a little overcooked and not as fluffy and Shelly as the last couple of times when I had it. I ordered the half lamb, half chicken. The lamb was delicious and cooked to perfection. The chicken was just "ok," and I'll need to broil it at home to get it completely right. I also found out that I had a free reward for an order of six chicken wings. The wings were fine but not up to par of where they were before. You can tell they were sitting because they were not as crispy when I visited previous times. Overall, the food was mostly good and suffice, so I'll rate my recent experience a 7.8/10. I'll be back but will not be rushing to return. Also, as a side note, I was really hungry, so one of my pictures is clearly after I've begun eating, so take that Pic with a grain of salt, no pun intended.

This place is always a hit! Today they were sold out of jolloff rice I was upset but the rice and stew was equally good! Don't forget to get the ginger juice!

I got the hot suya wing plate which came with 2 sides. I opted for the jollof rice and the spinach as my sides. The wings were tasty and had a sweet and spice kick to it. Personally they could have made the wings a bit hotter as I feel the sweet taste was a little too sweet but overall good. Jollof rice was okay, I've had better. But when I heated up my leftover the next day the rice was delicious. I guess the spices and flavors needed to set a little bit more. The spinach was amazing, very underrated and probably one of my favorite things. Service is on your own. You order at the kiosk and then they bring out your food. Card only. The inside is a bit on the smaller side but you still can dine in. I liked the music that was played as well.

I have tried the food truck located at the Bowie Town Center but felt cheated as the food is never hot at the food truck and they do not have pepper sauce or stew which are too fairly easy and small things to offer in a truck. Here are the pros and cons of this establishment. Pros: the food is prepared to order and therefor was piping hot. The quality of my suya steak was amazing huge chunks, tender and fresh. The portions were huge I have enough for three servings, well worth the $24. Cons: since it's cooked to order expect your meal to take at minimum 30 minutes or more -You also have to order via a kiosk so you are unable to speak to a person and ask questions prior to ordering -they do not accept cash -typically everywhere I go to get some type of suya pepper sauce is free or at least one comes with your meal but not here you pay 59 cents for a little cup that's only half filled. In spite of this place is now a go too whether it's out of the way or a long wait I'll still be going.

Ive now gone here multiple times and I must say the food is not consistent! I ordered 3 jollof, efo and beef suya (large). 2 out of the 3 jollof were salty, yet again. The suya was tender but lacked the smokey and suya flavor...seemed rushed. The quality of meat is great though so I can't complain about texture. The space is cool for a chill meet up with a friend depending on your vibe.

Visited the spice kitchen at the pop up shop R House. The customer service was great. The food was enough for two people! Delicious it's a must try. Going to take a drive to restaurant!

My favorite African place in the US. The steak and shrimp are both incredible and the spice they use on the meat and all the sides is insanely good. Probably one of my 5 favorite places in the entire DMV, especially considering you can get a meal for about $30 that can be split between 2 people

I went to the restaurant to order for the first time. I ordered the lamb chops, steak, rice and corn. The food was good. It was just over seasoned. I had to scrap some of the suya off the food to enjoy the meal. I'll be back and I'll inform to go light on the suya. Ordering was quick and east. You order from a kiosk.

A strong 4.5!!! This food was phenomenal. The lamb was tender and the chicken was falling off the bomb. My coworker had the salmon. I didn't think it meshed that well but it was well seasoned. Definitely will be ordering from them again.

Went to the pop up location at R house and boy was it packed! They were short staffed but the gentleman truly tried their best. My steak suya was delicious but the spinach was extremely salty. I was starving and forgot to take a pic but I will remember next time.

I finally got a chance to try this spot that has been on my list for awhile. I got the Spice Honey wings, spinach, plantains, and jollof rice (by accident). I am not a fan of this style of jollof rice so I won't say yay or nay for it. The wings are really good and flavorful, but the name of this place is Spice for a reason. I was expecting less Spice and more sweetness because of the name. I could only eat 3 of the 6 that came with my meal because they were too much for me. But trust and believe, I'll eat the rest later. There was heat, but there was still good flavor. The spinach was very good too. It had a unique seasoning that made it delicious. The plantains were also very good. I feel like it's hard to mess Up those as long as the ripeness is right though. I would definitely go back and try some of their other menu items. I'd even get the wings again, now that I know what to expect. They were a bit slow. I wouldn't let that deter me, but just something to be conscious of if you are pressed for time.

I've been wanting to try Spice Kitchen for a while. When asking my African friends for restaurant recommendations in the area, Spice kitchen is always mentioned. Today was a perfect opportunity to try it out. I knew that I wanted suya but I wasn't sure which protein to choose. This time I chose the spice wings but I will be back to try the steak suya amongst other menu items. The vibe was as good as expected. The restaurant is nice. I left it painted and it has its own cultural influence. Spice Kitchen gets it done right! I'll be back

I was very excited to try this restaurant, I ordered takeout with chicken suya, spinach, and jollof rice. From the few bites I was able to eat, I was not a big fan of the jollof, this wasn't my first time trying jollof and the taste just isn't for me. The chicken suya was good--great for folks who like spice foods like myself. The spinach also tasted very good. Unfortunately, I found a VERY long hair in my food so my appetite was ruined and I had to throw it away. This contributes to my low rating due to the health and safety issues associated with hair in food. The restaurant was nice and the service was efficient.

I like to expand my flavor palette and explore other types of food to break up the monotony. I called beforehand to ensure they'd be open. Pay attention to the flow of traffic in the parking lot and the idiots that race through the parking lot. Located in a strip mall like area, parking wasn't bad but is shared by adjacent businesses and not a chore. There is a kiosk at the front to place your order. The menu overhead supports advertising what the prices are and when ordering, you can customize. I appreciate that I couldn't make up my mind to order salmon or lamb, luckily there's an option to do half and half. I essentially got two lamb chops and a portion of salmon that sufficed. This does give first timers and returning customers a chance to explore more of the menu. There was a lot of confusion when ordering and the guy got my side dish wrong. I wanted plantains and he gave me jollof rice. While I like Jollof rice, I was focused on plantains. Well, we decided to dine in and that's when I saw I had the wrong side. I walked to the counter and he later brought me out plantains. The jollof rice had a taste similar to when a dish burns at the bottom but the top is salvageable. However, this burnt taste was permeated throughout the jollof rice. I said no biggie, let me get to the plantains. Man, I opened that container and they were burnt. It's like there are cooking items at a high heat and not taking care and time when making things. The spinach side was on point. It was cooked to my liking and the sprinkling of spice they add to garnish complemented it well. The salmon was cooked properly as was the lamb. The spice and onions added made it more flavorful and gave a different taste profile that I enjoyed. They have a variety of soft drinks and some they promote that they make. The Zogo lemonade was flavorful and is pre-measured so not something that's poured and you could ask for refills. Sadly, I didn't see anyone maintaining the cleanliness of the dining room. Patrons came and went and while some were cleaner than others, I feel that if you offer a dine in option, you should practice sanitation. There is a wait for your food but it wasn't bad. A lot of confusion among the workers and no clear manager or shift supervisor to help answer questions or give direction. I'm hoping that the anomalies experienced were a one off and not the norm.

Let me tell you, the food at Spice Kitchen is absolutely delicious! From the rich flavors to the perfect spice level, everything was spot on. The service was quick, and the customer service was excellent. I've visited twice now, and this time I had the Chicken Suya--so flavorful! Normally, I prefer white meat over dark, but the texture here was incredible--fall-off-the-bone tender. The rice was packed with flavor, but the real star was the spinach. I usually don't like cooked spinach, but the way they stew it here takes away any metallic taste, leaving it soft and melt-in-your-mouth good. If you haven't tried Spice Kitchen yet, do yourself a favor and go! You won't be disappointed.

Personal favorite for fast casual west African food. They make some amazing steak suya and my gf agrees. You know that if a west African approves then it's good. There's also chicken and lamb chop suya. The plantain and jollof is also great. I highly recommend the chicken wings. They have an awesome flavor profile. I recommend getting the suya and the wings spicy as well. The service is pretty minimal here but the staff are helpful when you have questions. You order yourself on the screens at the counter. You can eat it there or take it to go. They have some west African art on the walls and play afrobeat in the restaurant. They have a limited number of tables but we've never had an issue getting one. They also have a rewards program that's pretty good. Recommend signing up for it.

I went to the food truck in Bowie town center and now I am obsessed. The food is AMAZING. The jollof is perfection! The chicken wings have the best crunch! The steak is tender af. The shrimp are cooked just right. Everything is seasoned well. Service is always great as well. I literally have zero complaints! Can't wait to go back!

This location is found in a medium-sized strip mall (Queen's Chapel Shopping Center on Route 500, in Hyattsville) that's close to the DC border. It's next to a CVS and not far from a Lidl store. Just to be absolutely clear: this isn't the Mixt Food Hall location on Route 1, in Brentwood. The staff member who recently handled my order said that this spot has only been open for 2 months, since February 2024. Therefore, not many folks know about it. Having been a Peace Corps Volunteer in West Africa a while back, I can say with confidence that this food business is serving up the real deal--it's authentic West African cuisine and sorely lacking in the DMV. The menu is carefully selected and features mostly Nigerian dishes. However, Jollof Rice, one of the offerings, is claimed by many West African nations. Bear in mind that their Jollof Rice is Nigerian style; Malians and Senegalese, for example, prepare their Jollof Rice differently. I consider Jollof Rice to be like potato salad here in the US; there are lots of ways to fix it, depends on how your people like it. The Suya sauce, which is put on all the meat dishes, is lovely--it can be ordered mild (original) or hot. Both have their charms. I love the chicken wings as the meat selection, but there's many more. The Efo riro spinach dish, referred to as a stew, isn't a stew to me at all, more like a side of spinach, but whatever one wants to call it's--it's super flavorful and knocks my socks off. Efo riro is definitely a signature dish from Nigeria, specifically the Yoruba people, one of the largest ethnic groups in the country. The plantains are prepared expertly too; don't miss them. There's lots of free parking, a plus.

Chiiiiiileeee this was bomb. Loved the steak suya. Different than what I'm used to (with them using steak) but it was bomb. The spice was just right. The flavor was phenomenal. Steak was tender. Jollof was good and plantains were good. I'm a big fan and don't see myself able to pass up on this if I ran into their food truck again.

SO SOOO YUMMY!!! If you wanna get into African food and aren't sure this is the place to start at. This West African Naija style street food stays true to the culture, yet is still inviting to those who want to open their palates. There were multiple kiosk to place your food order. Portions were fairly big and prices were alright. The service was fairly quick, I think it took them about 15 mins or les to get my food out. I ordered: The steak suya - 11/10 Not super fatty, flavors were on point, big portion Spice wings 10/10 Really juicy, big pieces of chicken bone in, super crispy. Gets soggy and not crispy after 30 mins and isn't as good Side order of Jollof rice - 7/10 Delicious, they kept it simple. No spice to it Side order of Plantains - 8/10 Cooked very similar to what you eat at Peruvian places Total was around $65 which wasn't terrible. As long as it stays like this lol. Tips: There's parking available upfront They offer catering full pan of different menu items for around $120 Will definitely be bringing my family soon! A great spot!!!!!

Wow, so I have been wanting to try this place for a very long time now, especially after hearing about it from peers and other Yelpers! I placed an order online via the portal and ordered spiced wings, a lamb suya plate, and a salmon suya plate. What is cool is that you can choose your spice level for anything you order, and with the suya plates you can choose up to two sides. I chose a side of joloff rice and plantains for the lamb chops, and a side of joloff rice and egusi spinach for the salmon. I also ordered a side of stew to drizzle over my rice. Upon picking up my food, I could see the restaurant was packed, which is always a good sign. The ambiance was very lively and upbeat, imagine the inside of a Nando's. The service was okay and could be better, the people at the register kind of lingered and stood around before finally asking me "How they could help me." Greet your customers as soon as they arrive to the counter, and ask how you can help them, this makes a huge difference in the customer experience! Now onto the food, the spice wings were beyond delicious! Fried to a crisp and seasoned well. I haven't had wings this delicious in a very long time! The salmon suya, oh my gosh!!! Generous portions, salmon was juicy and seasoned well! The joloff rice was moist and flavorful, and the egusi spinach was fresh and flavorful as well! The lamb chops were bountiful and juicy, and the plantains were sweet and melted in your mouth! The stew that I added on top of my rice was beyond rich and had a light spice kick to it! All in all, I really enjoyed this place!!! Touch up the customer service, and we are looking at 5 stars! Cheers to good eats!

I found this place on social media about a year ago and Ive been so excited to try this. Trust me, this did not disappoint. Went with my family and all together we tried the efo spinach, original and spicy suya steak, jollof rice, original suya lamb, original suya salmon, plantain, and the goat eggrolls. Everything was on point!!!! Literally the most flavorful meal Ive ever had in my life. The manager came to speak to us and she was so wonderful and accommodating. She checked on us while we dined in and made sure everything was perfect. The vibe was so great, very clean and well decorate.

This place was good. The portion size of these plates was surprising. I could have shared a plate with someone else. It was truly two meals. Beautiful space. Open dining. Everything was clean. The art was beautiful. The service was a little unorganized but I do believe we should show people grace, especially in customer service.

Food 5/5 The flavor of the food is off the charts! I have never eaten West African food but we loved the changes and the focus on flavor over just heat. We ordered spice level 1 chicken, with hollow rice and plantains. Ambiance 4/5 Kinda loud due to the music open kitchen and open restaurant design. But totally understandable. Nothing that can be done about it but you will have to raise your voice. I love the paintings on the walls and baskets as light shades. Service 3/5 You order food at the kiosk and then you go pick up your food. There is no service to speak of- but they are nice enough after the app alerted me the food was ready.

OMG! Every single thing I ordered was seasoned to perfection. And the service was FANTASTIC! APRIL was so helpful from the time I walked in to the timeI left. Particularly, the Egg rolls are to die for! April, you did your thing today! First time, now I will be coming back 10 fold! Thanks for having this restaurant in this neighborhood!

Absolutely love their suya wings jollof and plantains. Usually order on delivery but it always hangs. Good portion of food and a tad bit spicy but I'm sure you can adjust

The best spicy collard greens on this side of foodie heaven. The plantains were cooked perfectly and the fried chicken had a perfect crispy skin, but I wasn't a fan of the sweet sauce. The store is located in an unassuming shopping center next to a barber shop and CVS. Decorated in orange, greens and brown which give a real earthy vibe. I will definitely return.

Visited this food truck recently and the quality!! Amazing. The lamb suya was so good. The lamb was seasoned very well and did not taste gamey. The jollof and spinach were good too. The employees were kind and kept me aware of my order time. The truck is beautiful and looked clean from what I could see.

Umm yes and yes! The lamb chops were perfectly spiced and cooked. The jollof rice was good but not really spicy. I ordered via DoorDash and would definitely order this again.

I was very impressed by Spice Kitchen!! Food was flavorful and actually seasoned! I ordered to-go in person on the self ordering kiosk, which was very easy to use. Afrobeats playing in the background, set the vibes right while waiting for the food. Staff were friendly and very attentive to all guests and Uber/Doordash drivers. The main guy expediting the order was very confident that I'd like the food and will be back. He was right! I got the chicken suya plate and honey suya wings. Everything was yummy! The jollof rice isn't your mama's jollof but it'll satisfy lol. The portion size is great too. Definitely can have leftovers. The wings are more honey than suya, but still tasty. I'll be back for sure; it's quick, easy and yummy!

I went to Spice Kitchen based on my friend's recommendation. Quite frankly, it can be hard to find decent West African food in the DMV area. But since my friend has more familiarity than I do, I decided to take her up on it. The food: We ordered the platter special (2 proteins, 2 sides). I ordered the shrimp & steak suya with white rice and white rice w/ Stew & spinach efo riro. The food was SPECTACULAR, Chef's kiss ‍ the shrimp suya was perfectly cooked and the steak/beef suya was perfection. Both proteins were seasoned perfectly. I was actually quite hesitant of the white rice & Stew but I am glad I got it. It was delicious as well. The spinach efo riro surprised me as someone who doesn't like spinach. Everything tasted lovely all together. NOW I will say, it is rather spicy, so if you can't handle it, don't get it. The service was pretty standard and timely. There was not a long wait time from the point of ordering to receiving our food. The food is kinda pricey but worth it. The ambiance is pretty typical of that of a food hall (it's in the miXt Food Hall on Rhode Island Ave, Brentwood, MD). So don't expect glamor or upscale dining. Parking is pretty decent. Overall, I will definitely be back to try different items on the menu. Very delicious West African food I can see myself frequenting in the future.

Double Choose 2 Proteins - salmon and shrimp Jollof Spinach efo riro Plantains Stew HELLA GOOD! My daughter got the same thing but had Chicken Suya instead of salmon. Everything was good. Both kids ate and left no crumbs. but fr the plates were empty. Run don't walk. Music was a vibe too.

Spice Kitchen has been on my list for a hot minute, so I was ecstatic to find out that they were participating in the Yelp Summer Food Halliday 2023 event. This spot is located inside of Mixt Food Hall which has a connected parking garage. Since it's a food hall, there's ample indoor seating. The place is clean, bright, and would be good for a group and solo babes alike. They have an ordering kiosk which worked seamlessly. After only about 10 minutes or so, our food was ready. I ordered the combo (steak, salmon, jollof, and spinach/efo riro), some wings (with extra hot suya spice), and plantains. Everything slapped. (Isn't that what the kids are saying nowadays?) Right amount of seasoning, incredible flavors... Just downright damn delicious. My plantains were a but burnt but they still tasted okay. I can tell by the taste that they would've been a 10 out of 10 if they were cooked right, but they were free as part of the Summer Food Halliday event, so no biggie. In true African restaurant fashion, they were sold out of a few items, but this glutton had enough to sample from. It just means I need to go back. I look forward to returning next time I'm in the area. There are certain spots that work well for grabbing takeout as meal prep during the week, and this is definitely one of them. I could eat 5 of these. Five orders of these wings! Okay, I get it. When I saw other food bloggers/influencers talk about black-owned Spice Kitchen West African Grill (SKWAG), I thought it was hype... This food is so good! I finally had the opportunity to try their food at block party. The menu for the event was limited - offering up mostly suya plates and wings. Suya is Nigerian street food using served as skewers. Suya is covered in a spice blend of ginger, cayenne pepper, and ground peanuts. I grabbed the Spice Wings and jollof rice. The wings were tender, had just the right spice, and had a slightly sweet honey taste. I let my sister try the wings, and she kept asking, "Where is this place located? " "Do you think they would deliver to my home? " lol. I told her, I don't know, but the next time I'm at your home in the city, I will check. UPDATE from previous review dated November 8, 2021 This is a great West African restaurant with Nigerian flavors. The presentation gives street food vibes which is impressive. Also, this place offers food you wouldn't normally find on a West African menu such as salmon, lamb chops, and fried chicken wings, but all prepared with African flavors. The food is incredibly delicious and the select traditional menu items have all of the authentic flavors of Nigerian cuisine. The new brick and mortar restaurant in Hyattsville has a restaurant-like feel in the dining room unlike what is customarily acceptable at some of the competition in the DMV. Overall this is a great experience and my go-to for jollof rice. So was the shrimp and jallof rice. The jolly rice is traditional Nigerian style jallof rice. I feel the need to disclose that because there is #jollofricewars between West African countries and it is important to distinguish that this rice is not Ghana style or any other style of West African countries. The puff puff was unconventional because it was dusted with powdered sugar however they were very good. If you know puff puff, you either love them or hate them and if you love them the powdered sugar dusting is going to make you wonder why other restaurants don't do puff puff with powdered sugar. I also tried the spinach Efo-Riro and I will say it didn't hit me with much flavor in comparison to the other dishes. Plantain was fried well. I kind of expected the flavor expectation to be in line with the other dishes. Customer service was OK and could have been better. Overall, this food experience was very good. In comparison to other Nigerian restaurants, this one is a challenger. I will try them again at the Hyattsville, MD location. Suya Wings These wings have a nice kick to them spice wise, still edible which is a huge plus to me. Perfectly cooked, they were nice and juicy. Plantains Perfectly fried golden brown, sweet, absolutely delicious. Jollof Rice The sauce on top has a good kick of spice in it, still edible without being overpowering. Very delicious. The steak plate was so good! I'll definitely be coming back here. My husband ordered the Steak plate and it was delicious! Seasoned perfectly and so flavorful. The jollof rice and plantains paired well with the steak. We also ordered the Spinach Efo-Riro. Looking forward to trying some other yummy goodies on the Spice Kitchens menu!

I went to the Bowie location, I didn't know it was a food truck. The prices were pretty steep for a meal. Prepare to spend at least $20 - $30. The service was great. I was excited to try the food until I encountered a hair. I couldn't even finish the meal, disgusting.

I had to see what the hype was all about! When I tell you I been hearing about this place; I've been hearing hearing lol. The ordering was a little tricky however the staff stepped in to help and ensure I made the correct selection. The men behind the counter were nice and professional. They greeted me when I walked up and quickly offered to help when I was looking crazy lol trying to navigate the menu and place my order . I ordered steak suya & salmon combo which each comes with two sides. For the sides I got efo riro, plaintain, and jollof. I like my food hot hot as far as the temp goes and the food was not as hot as I would have liked. The jollof was not as good either which was disappointing. However everything else was Suya steak Too darn Good Salmon So darn Good Plaintain Just how I like it Efo Riro yasssss bigger side portion please Also I say this with love, please improve the jollof. I will go back to try it again as everyone has an off day cause this Nigerian girl knows jollof very well and that jollof was not it . Overall I enjoyed my food and the hall was nice. They had a host, there was a bit i trivia being played and patrons won prizes. The hall was very clean and well kept.

I've been to the pop up at R house the sides were amazing but the meat portions were very skimpy . It's like want to try the taste about I want my $30 . Ok experience I guess.

The food was absolutely outstanding. I tried a little of everything and my mouth couldn't stop watering. I loved the ambience of the restaurant and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I can't wait to drive down from NYC to visit again.

I recently discovered this restaurant during their pop up in R House in Baltimore, and that visit made me a huge fan. I wish they'll come back to Baltimore but I'm happy they were able to open their own store front in Hyattsville. I visited this location a couple times, including during their opening weekend, and the food never disappoints. It's also so nicely decorated in there. I met the owner a couple times and he and the staff are all really friendly. I've tried the jollof, shrimp suya, salmon suya, spinach, plantains, and the wings, and every single thing is delicious. Please visit if you haven't already! You won't be disappointed.

I came on a Sunday with few friends, the restaurant was packed! It's a fast casual place but the food is pretty amazing. I got Chicken Suya with Plantain and Jollof Rice. The chicken I got was pretty moist but my friend's was a bit dry so there's still some quality and consistency needs to be worked on. The rice was flavorful but the plantain was sort of oily. The portion is huge though for $18, definitely can feed 2 people imo. I'd comeback again when I'm in the area.

So this was my first time going to the Spice kitchen. I pass by the establish every day but went there after seeing review on social media. The place was clean. The staff was very helpful with my ordering. Now the food.. my goodness the food is sooooo good. There was enough spice and very flavorful. if you have never had west african food welcome to the Spice Kitchen..10 out of 10!!

I got 6 spice wings from this place for $10. The wings were a good size, flavorful, and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed them.

really good west african cuisine. my favorite was the eggroll with the goat meat and their fried chicken. the lamb chops were also delicious but just a little dry. the jollof rice was a tad bit too salty for me since the lamb chop are already seasoned very well but still really good. would come back if i'm in hyattsville.
