The Denver favorite expanded to Arvada in 2024, bringing dosa, biryani, and boldly spiced regional Indian plates. Covered by local news at opening and listed by Westword; the Arvada outpost remains active. Excellent Indian food experience! Very nice atmosphere, but Incredibly loud. All the food we ordered came out well prepared and served attractively. Our servers were very attentive and friendly. The samosas were very good, I was happy that I was able to order them by the piece. We ordered one butter and one garlic naan, both were good, although I think the garlic naan could have used a little more garlic. The chicken 65 was quite spicy and excellent, as was the chicken tikka masala. I found this place to be reasonably priced with very generous portions.

Google
I’m definitely scratching my head at the rating. We sat at the bar with only 1 other couple but our waiter was extremely inattentive. Our appetizer sampler was everything but the kitchen sink, breaded and fried. Everything had the same flavor profile and it wasn’t good. After we ate a few bites, the dirty appetizer plates sat in front of us and we waited a very long time for our food with no updates. The bartender disappeared for awhile and we were just sitting there even longer. When our food finally arrived, I stacked our dirty appetizer plates and handed them off to someone. Butter chicken and naan were just not good. No creaminess in the curry or much flavor and the garlic naan was very thin with the same lack of flavor. We are military so have eaten at many Indian restaurants all over, in the U.S. and abroad. This was just not it for us. At all.

Google
Pravesh went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience! The drinks are amazing (try the chai old fashioned! The tandoori wings? Game changing. The restaurant itself is modern and beautiful with a welcoming atmosphere and beautiful colors! Will be back soon!!

Google
So good. There is so many great options, and I love to try new things whenever I go. It’s called the spice room because they know spice, both in flavor and heat preferences. You can do spicy and mild, no problems. Also the inside vibe is this cool diner esque spot. Go here! The momo’s are it.

John F.

Google
We had some really good, tasty food at the spice house all served by friendly staff. This was probably my favorite curry place I have been to in Colorado.

Paige B.

Google
This place is amazing all around! We went in time for happy hour and the prices were amazing. The Tandoori Chicken Wings are SO GOOD! Literally the best wings I’ve ever had. The servers are always attentive and knowledgeable, and the menu is very accommodating for dietary restrictions as well.

Connie M.

Google
My only downside is service/food was a little slow so even though we had allotted a lot of time we were still there for a lot longer than expected. I loved almost everything I had except for the Naan pizza. It wasn’t very great so I would not order again but I was curious and wanted to try it. The sampler appetizer was AMAZING highly recommend trying it out.

Google
Great meal here, one of our better ones in the area in the last several months. Great flavors and spices. Wonderful Hakka Noodles, delicious Chicken Shahenshah, and garlic Naan. Service was prompt and friendly, and drinks very tasty - especially the mango mojito! Easy, relaxed atmosphere. Really a great place for a meal. Don’t miss it!

Yelp
Lamb!! Went hot on the lamb vindaloo and loved it! Very tender. Chicken korma - was very good too. Onion kulcha was warm and had a touch oil that made it legit. Solid all around! Large, large dining area - diner style. Modern and clean, too, including the restrooms.

Yelp
Wow!!! Everything ass delicious! I met up a friend and we were both craving Indian food so I suggested the Spice Room. We both have never been. It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. But we still got sat right away. Our server was attentive. I ordered a chicken tikka masala and i can't remember what my friend ordered. We also got garlic cheese naan. The flavors were there the naan was so delicious, that I could eat it with every meal. I will definitely be back. It was so good. Definitely one of the better places I've eaten around town in awhile.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the diner-esque floor plan; this amazing restaurant is beautifully decorated and classily comfortable. We stopped in before going to see a play at Arvada Center, based on the wonderful yelp reviews. It was a little hard to find because the Address lead us to a small strip center when the restaurant actually sat as a standalone building behind the strip center, and facing the road. The inside is quite lovely And the people and staff are friendly and helpful. I was so taken by the decor, I had to stop and take pictures of everything as we went to our table. We decided to try a few different items. We had the Saag/Palak Paneer (medium), the tandoori chicken tikka (boneless) with a side of tikka masala sauce, some vegetable Momo, and garlic naan. Every bite was absolutely delicious. I think that may be some of the best sideburner I have ever had. And the prices were very reasonable.

Yelp
Great food! Spice Room has a great selection of Indochinese options, along with a side of awesome service and pleasant ambiance. I had the Hakka Noodles from the lunch menu. The portion sizes are on the smaller side, so be prepared to order multiple dishes.
google avatar

Sarah A.

Yelp
Met a friend for lunch. There is plenty of parking in the back. They had just opened, so no wait. We were greeted and seated right away. I liked the lunch portion. Even with it being smaller, I still has some to bring home. My first choice was Masala Dosa, but those are not available until after noon and it was 11. I chose Palak Paneer instead. Delish! I went for medium heat and it was just right. I love the spinach and cheese cubes. The rice was hot and fluffy. We had Papadams to start with some chutneys for dipping. Always a nice treat.

Yelp
We have now been here twice and have been thoroughly pleased both times. The service was incredible-our server was working so hard and they were quite busy both times we went. The menu is a little overwhelming, with lots of options, but I like reading the little notes about the dishes! The food is soo delicious! I tried the vegetable korma, mild and my husband had the chicken tikka masala, mild. On our second time there, I just had to get the veg korma again and we shared that and a sweet potato tikka masala. Chef's kiss, scrumptious!! And with the rice, good portions, so great leftovers too. We also shared garlic naan and some veg samosas. We love how they redecorated what used to be a diner. It is so gorgeous and unique inside. They did a great job redesigning the place. Will definitely make this a regular spot!
google avatar

Leah P.

Yelp
Second time eating here and it was still amazing!! It's honestly the best Indian we have had in the entire Denver metro area! Just go. Have all of the things. Enjoy the beautiful lanterns and old school diner like booths. The servers were friendly and helpful both times. And the pani puri is our favorite appetizer. We love love loved it!!
google avatar

Suchot K.

Yelp
This is probably the best Indian food I've had in Colorado. The dosa masala is HUGE, cooked well and tasted phenomenal. Absolutely loved it. Chana masala is very flavorful, and the garbanzo was cooked how I liked it. The lamb jalfrezie is also really delicious. Flavor is delicious and lamb was really juicy. Portions, staff and everything is worth the cost. Love the interior design with a vibe of a diner. Will be back for sure!
google avatar

Mateo K.

Yelp
My partner and I have eaten here a few times. We don't live nearby but it's worth the extra drive. They are set up in an old diner which still has much of its original design incorporated which works well. The host and all staff are friendly. The food is amazing and high quality. Lots of different styles of Indian food available with excellent descriptions on the menu.
google avatar

Millie W.

Yelp
Service 8/10 food 7/10 I might've ordered the wrong things because there is a lot of options. I recommend you look at their menu before going in! Loved how many diff things they have. The chai tea is a MUST. Best chai ever. I got true veggie curry and it was mid. Platter was also mid. JALAPEÑO CHEESE NAAN WAS THE BEST THING EVER
google avatar

Yvonne S.

Yelp
Holy YUM!!! My grown daughter asked to eat here for her birthday. So I just met her. What a delightful surprise both and the atmosphere AND the magnificent food! It seems like Spice Room (in Arvada) prides themselves on their vegetarian offerings with quite a bit also classified as vegan. When I order Masala Chai the server made sure that I knew that it has dairy. I'm not a veggie but I very much enjoy Indian veg dishes! And I am a huge fan of southern Indian food which is hard to find in NW Denver. Wowza! The dosa and also the idli are screamingly fantastic! I love the sambar and we also had Chaat- the aloo tikka option. I've never had it before but the spice profile was sensational! Ah, therefore the name =Spice Room! I'll be back and soon! Highly recommend

Yelp
Its classic American diner turned Indian restaurant. The staff is extremely attentive. Opted to get a mango lassi and the lunch special Thali with butter chicken and garlic naan. Everything was delicious and large portions for a thali imo (compared to LA). If you are near Old Town Arvada, definitely worth checking out.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
4.5 stars. Woohoo, there's now an Arvada location of Spice Room! So happy this restaurant keeps expanding. This definitely used to be an old diner. Interesting choice of place to repurpose. Love that there's a huge parking lot. Came here with friends one evening and enjoyed our experience. I got the Lamb Biryani, while my partner ordered his usual Baingan Bharta. Both were phenomenal. Also got Kheer for dessert to share, which was a special treat for everyone. Customer service I think is still working through the new restaurant stages, but I know they'll only improve!

Yelp
This Spice Room is fantastic: I have written two other reviews. Do visit, there are plenty of booths and tables, and the service is impecable. Have a party, or special time with friends, only service dogs are allowed. Most of all BRING YOUR APPETITE!!! Please read my other reviews, Spice room with plenty of parking, easy to find is a difficult place not to WISH TO GO EVERYTIME YOU ARE IN ARVADA BON APPETITE or as in Hindi

Jonah H.

Yelp
Everything was perfect, service was good, drinks were always being refilled, ambience was nice; the seats were comfortable and it was well decorated, and most of all, the food was amazing and flavorful with a customizable level of spicyness ranging from 1-5. Everything was plated amazingly and looked like a dream.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
I believe this is the best Indian food in the Denver area! We usually do carry out but the inside is clean & has a great vibe. Take out is quick and easy & always delicious. Parking is very easy, even though it is right in the Old town area. Hands down, the best garlic naan that I've had. Everything we have tried was outstanding.

Yelp
Just had dinner here for the first time it was very good. Our Niru server was so pleasant and nice. I'm the type of guy that likes to try food that most Americans don't. when you walk in and the menu is so extensive it's really hard to pick stuff especially when you have no idea what 90% of it is everybody orders the same stuff the butter chicken and of course my wife had to because she loves it and it was really really good. I had to have something different so I asked my server Niru what I should order and she recommended it they're really really good and I have no idea what they were lol but they were lamb and chicken and crazy I highly recommend you go here
google avatar

Martin O.

Yelp
Great choice of Indian food, the wait staff need to up their game a little, the service was a bit hit or miss. They repeat your order back to you then when your waiting for your main course, they come and tell you it was taken to another table. And you still end up waiting and sit there picking at your rice and naan bread. Would give it another try and hopefully it would be better next time.

Yelp
Fantastic South Indian food including amazing dosas and an expansive, creative menu. I am a huge fan of Indian food and have eaten at dozens of restaurants all over the U.S. Spice Room is hands-down the best in the Boulder/Denver area and one of my all-time favorites. Tons of vegetarian, gluten-friendly, and vegan options. Amazingly fast, efficient, and friendly service. Funky location in a former diner (where my husband used to cook back in the day...) now jazzed up with South Asian decor. It can get busy and a little noisy (because it's awesome), so we go at off hours -- they're open all day. We always order way too much food so we have lots of leftovers. Cannot recommend highly enough! Well worth the drive to Arvada. (Just wish they had a buffet so we can try more dishes!)

Yelp
This restaurant establishment has given me something few others have ever done: a perfect experience. Normally I can think of things that went wrong and nitpick if I must, but not with a place like this. I've only been here once, but I started by trying the wings, and the menu didn't lie. These are by FAR the best wings in Denver, who would have thought. I was worried because the menu was huge and gave the whole life story of each dish, but everything was great. This included the dosa which is a must try, the palak, aloo gobi, salmon tandoori which had some of the most flavorful and tender salmon I've ever tried. The spice and flavor on everything I tried was perfect. The staff was super attentive even though they were absolutely slammed with customers, I was super impressed. I've never had a waiter fill my water so many times right when I needed. They warned us the food would take a while, and I was still pleasantly surprised that it came pretty fast. Normally I don't write about the atmosphere in reviews, but I feel that I must. The spice room has a very charming diner aesthetic that's also very modern and interesting to look around in. Top tier restaurant that is worth going out of your way for.

Kat B.

Yelp
Tried the masala dosa and the sambar hit the spot. It was a little on the milder side for spices but tasty. And out server was top notch!
google avatar

Yelp
Yum!! The food was spectacular, the decorations are gorgeous, and the service was stellar. I honestly can't remember such great service. I typically get chicken tiki masala when I'm at an Indian restaurant, but this time I decided to mix it up. We had the Chicken Shahenshah. Marinated in spices and yogurt then slowly cooked in a coconut and cashew gravy. Outstanding!! I can't wait for my left overs. For dessert we shared 2. Rice pudding is a favorite and theirs did not disappoint, one of the best I have ever had. We tried their carrot pudding, warm, and it was even better than the rice pudding. It was all so delicious that I forgot to take pictures:) Highly recommend checking this place out!!

Yelp
This is hands down the best Indian food I've had in the Denver area. My husband and I got takeout and shared: - Shahi Paneer - Mysore Masala Crispy Dosa - Dahi Papari Chaat - Garlic Naan Everything was delicious and full of flavor. I'd happily come back to try more of the menu.

Sue A.

Yelp
Great food and service! We keep returning, over and over again. A go-to place for special occasions.

Divyang D.

Yelp
I generally dont post reviews but this the most horrible mockery of Indian food I have ever eaten. We ordered tomato soup, mushroom manchurian, and Achari paneer 1. In tomato soup we found curry leaves which is generally found in south indian dishes and the taste of tomato soup was overpowered by curry leaves. Funny part, we found full garlic pieces in soup. Can't imagine what else can go wrong with such a simple recipe, 2. Mushroom manchurian also had curry leaves. Now, any indo chinese dish NEVER EVER has curry leaves in it. I can accept fusions but fusions are supposed to taste good. These are horrible 3. Achari paneer - gravy was watery, it seemed like they literally put Achar ( mango pickle) in the curry. That's not how achari dishes are made. Look at any possible youtube video for recipe of these. Overall, just save your money and don't go here
google avatar

Mariah E.

Yelp
Pros: Wonderful food, great flavors and no disappointment -- i think you maybe can't go wrong. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous! Con: Not going to lie, some of the most terrible service I've had in a long time. The waitress didn't have any pleasantries at all and had no suggestions for food. When I inquired on spice level so I could try to ascertain what kind of spice we're talking about (I guessed we would have serious spice lol) she didn't know what I meant and just said low to high. I don't expect anything amazing, but ugh
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Service was great, food was delicious! Big menu. Can't wait to come back and try more ...
google avatar

Dale Z.

Yelp
This new location is very popular, and rightfully so. On both of my recent visits, the place was packed. The parking lot is large, but it was still pretty much completely filled. Service is solid. The food is outstanding. All of my traditional favorites, are quite good here. They do an exceptional job with their Momo. I see myself returning here quite a bit in the future.
google avatar

Micky C.

Yelp
Delicious Indian food!!! The menu is voluminous - like the Cheesecake Factory of Indian food almost. It's a little hard to see for those of with older eyes - it's small print on a black background. Definitely needed to use the light on my phone. Vegan items are pretty well marked. I also had the mango cooler cocktail and it was amazing - I love mango so this was perfect for me. Service was helpful with questions & suggestions. The restaurant is pretty large & it's a little loud. Not sure if they have quieter areas to sit. I had the samosas and the Methi Mushroom Masala and, let me tell you, that was so good I had it for breakfast the next 2 days! When can I get a Spice Room in Dallas, TX?!
google avatar

Victoria A.

Yelp
10/10 recommend. I don't eat much Indian food but we were visiting some friends and he told us about this place. Let's just say NOW I want Indian all the time. This food was so delicious. We walked in and had to wait about 15 minutes for a table. The place was packed! I love how it was an old diner and they kept the charm of the place. After being seated and looking at the menu, they had tons of options. My husband and I ordered an eggplant dish, a lamb dish, naan bread, and another appetizer. I don't remember any of the names of them but I know that they were so fricken delicious that I could cry When I'm back in town I will def be back to visit. Everything was so amazing here
google avatar

Lisa O.

Yelp
Love this so much! The menu is huge. Everything that I have tried is amazing. The only thing I don't love as much is the saag. It is just a bit salty for my taste.
google avatar

Leslie J.

Yelp
Loved it. I went for lunch and tried their Thali (sampler). I am the only one in my family who likes Indian food and the Thali was such a treat. I was able to try a selection of dishes. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. I did a medium spice level and it was nice and spicy.

Judy P.

Yelp
Like a trip to India. I have been to many Indian restaurants - awful ones and excellent ones. Spice Room is in a class by itself. It has a huge selection of dishes, not just the usual five. They start you off with papadams and chutneys. I ordered the luncheon Thali that is a bit pricey for lunch but totally worth it. The flavors of each of the thali items had its own flavor - crispy potatoes, daal, chaat, plenty of basmati rice, naan, a choice of entree (my selection was the paneer masala), chai and a dessert. My husband ordered a single entree and naan so I shared a lot of my thali with him and still had enough for us to take home for another whole meal. Those are the facts. But the most important part is that each item was delicious and unique. The service and ambiance ideal. We live out of town but will make excuses to return when we can.

Yelp
Most amazing place and delicious food I can't describe the food how great and delicious do you guys have to try it
google avatar

Sarah E.

Yelp
The great reviews brought me in.. and my love for Indian. They also have decent happy hour specials, although the food items were primarily fried so I kept with wine. They give free pappadums to your table upon arrival which is a nice way to wake up your taste buds. I can't handle super spicy foods and my husband can't handle any. They were honest about what can be made with 0 spice level and were highly accommodating which is appreciated. Food wise I went for the edamame salad: 4 out of 5. Too limey but maybe because it lacked the other spices it was meant to have. Hubby loved this tho. Tika Masala with Paneer. 5 out of 5. Creamy and decadent. Lamb tandoori. 3 out of 5. Came out super dry unfortunately but great flavors. I would stick with lamb cooked in sauce or just vegetarian. And samosas. These were great. 5 out of 5. Love the place. Definitely coming back to try mushroom methi, their dosas and desserts! Even the manager came by to check on things so they definitely care to uphold service quality. Well done!

Blair K.

Yelp
The food here tastes amazing and I love love love the place. However, we got some really bad food poisoning and we're certain it was from Spice Room Arvada (likely E-Coli-- even bleeding from how awful, but couldn't afford hospitalization). This was from Thanksgiving 11/28/2024, food poisoning last night continuing into today. Not to mention I got a ton of direct dirty looks and attitude from our waitress (likely for me being semi-visibly transgender) despite being really nice to her. As you can see I haven't written a bad review before so I don't allege things like that lightly. As regular customers it was a great restaurant otherwise though and we'd return if it wasn't for the food poisoning!
google avatar

Jorgi R.

Yelp
Everything from parking to paying the check was perfect. Really clean, parking lot with marked spots for the restaurant, good food and friendly service. Me and my daughters are butter chicken lovers and theirs didn't disappoint! Will definitely be back....several times!

Yelp
Spice Room is a fantastic Indian Restaurant in a cool, funky space. Spice Room has an epic variety of dishes. The menu is downright intimidating. They have the classics, like Tikka Masala, Makhani and Rogan Josh. But, they also have tons of dishes I'd never even heard of. They have great descriptions and details about each on the menu. They can make just about any dish vegetarian and they have multiple vegetarian options like beans, sweet potato, mushroom and paneer (not just tofu). The lamb masala was great. I ordered it Medium and it was on the spicier end of Medium. Keep that in mind when selecting your heat level. The lamb was good, but I think I'd like to try one of the vegetarian options next time, like paneer. The jalapeno-cheese naan and garlic naan were both wonderful. You can see from the outside that this building used to be a Gunther Toody's. It was remodeled into a funky diner space when Stuben's took over the building. Spice Room has kept the funky diner feel, but added cool Indian touches, like glass lamps and art. Most of the seating is booths. But, there is also seating at the bar and a few half-booths that are half free standing chairs. They have plenty of off street parking behind the restaurant. And, the restaurant is a short walk to Olde Town Arvada for post-dinner shenanigans.

Yelp
You should have the Dosas. So good, and ordering them feels like an event. Five stars.

M B.

Yelp
Every time we are in the denver metro area we hit one of the Spice Room locations. Always tasty!!
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
Located in what used to be steubens, this interior doesn't look too different, just added a bit of spice to it. The food is SO GOOD! We came as a group of 7 on a Saturday night, ordered a ton of different things and shared the dishes. My favorite was actually the mushroom appetizer, never had anything like it and it was delish! Everything was super fresh, flavorful and spicy (portions are generous too). The medium spice level was great for me in most of the dishes, will definitely be back!
google avatar

Brenna M.

Yelp
We are so happy we have spice room in our neighborhood! Some of the best Indian food my partner and I have ever had. We got the tandoori chicken and the chicken shahenshaw. The chicken shahenshaw was recommended by our waiter and it did not disappoint and went great with the tandoori chicken. Large portions, we took home leftovers! The menu is incredibly large so we will be trying something new every visit but it will be hard not to get the exact same thing again. We also got the garlic naan which is a must. We will be regulars here. The restaurant was pretty busy but I don't feel you'll need to make a reservation everytime you go. The vibe is cool. Old diner style.
google avatar

Ciara T.

Yelp
The Chicken Tandoori was delicious! We got medium and we usually like spicy food so it was really good, but probably as hot as we can go, more like Hot instead of medium spice. The Chicken Curry was good, we got medium and it was about a medium spice as expected.
google avatar

Ross K.

Yelp
I'm going to give this place a 4. It receives a lot of hype, but I don't see anything that should separate it from other similar restaurants. Everything was good, not great. Service a bit slow. Just a typical Indian restaurant to me.
google avatar

Anne K.

Yelp
Outstanding!! We had eaten at the "original" location before COVID and always wanted to return. This new location is more casual and maybe the menu was different. There were so many items we wanted to try and what we ordered was so good, that next time it will be hard to decide whether to try something new or reorder past successes. Starters were noon bajhi and fried okra. Mains were a vegetarian paneer, sweet peppers in coconut curry sauce and lamb jalfresi, as well as lovely cheese garlic naan. Everything was outstanding. Our sever, Bunni, too. Totally awesome meal.
google avatar

Glenn K.

Yelp
A very diverse and interesting menu that includes traditional and regional selections. Medium was fine fit for my taste (FYI I eat pickled jalapeños like some eat dill pickles). There were 2 levels hotter and one cooler (mild). Every dish was flavorful and enjoyable. The cheese and garlic naan was some of the best we have had. Our server was Bunni and very helpful and knowledgeable.
google avatar

Nazeer S.

Yelp
First thing I'd like to mention is that this Restaurant operates through the emotions of love and joy. You can clearly tell when interacting with staff and when eating the Rajma Aloo which is beaming with flavor and happiness with each bite. I'd like to give a special shout-out to my server Rakesh who took care of me like I was a family member. If you are in Arvada or surrounding areas you are doing your spirit a disservice by not eating here!
google avatar

Philip K.

Yelp
this is hands down the best Indian food i've had in the Denver Metro area. this place could easily compete with indian spots in much larger cities. fast friendly service every time and it's always poppin in here on the weekends. we probably get take out from them about once a month and there isn't a single thing on the menu that we've tried that isn't delicious. So happy this new location opened up just a few mins from our home in Arvada!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. The place was relatively empty and we were greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant is brightly lit and decorated colorfully. The music playing was relaxing and had an authentic feel. Multiple servers were waiting on us, bringing our food and drinks and checking on us. We were brought a small plate of cracker/bread with four different dipping options. The sauces ranged in heat levels, but were all tasty. The main meals we ordered were chicken tikka masala and shrimp vindaloo. We both requested spicy and they delivered. There was plenty of basmati rice to share and we added a side of butter naan. This is personal preference, but I was let down by the texture of the naan. I was hoping for a fluffy/puffy naan and this was definitely thinner, kind of like a tortilla. Despite that, the meal was great! We never had empty water glasses and the food came out hot and quickly. We shared the kheer rice pudding and it couldn't have been more delicious. It was creamy and topped with raisins, nuts, and coconut shreds. We'd certainly stop by again!
