Thieves Steal $15K Worth of Apples From Spicer Orchards - Eater Detroit

"Popular apple growers Spicer Orchards in Fenton tells WDIV that 7,000 pounds of apples vanished from a 5-acre section of its Linden-based orchard sometime between October 6 and October 10. The roughly 22,000 stolen apples are valued at about $14,400. The apple orchard doesn’t carry insurance for this type of theft." - Brenna Houck

I had such a fantastic experience at this apple orchard! From the moment we arrived, the staff greeted us with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Everyone was incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed for a great visit. The prices are very reasonable — much better than other orchards I've been to. Whether you're picking your own apples or buying them from their market, you definitely get great value for your money. They do a wristband system for pick your own, one person free and then $5 per person after. When you finish picking they weigh your berries and it’s $3.95 per pound. The absolute highlight of our visit were the fresh, hot donuts and cold Apple cider! They had options to please everyone’s sweet tooth whether you want a classic cinnamon sugar, powered sugar or just plain. They even had glazed strawberry donuts during strawberry season. Great prices and helpful staff, we purchased a half gallon of cider for for $8.95 and a dozen donuts for $12.95. What really stood out was how knowledgeable and helpful the staff were. They gave us great tips on the best apple varieties for baking versus snacking, we were even given an apple to try when we couldn’t make up our minds on what to get. You can tell they love what they do and want to make sure every guest leaves happy. Highly recommend this orchard for families, couples, or anyone looking for a fun and affordable day outdoors. We’ll definitely be coming back in the fall!

Stopped by for tart cherries picking. Didn't have time for anything else due to early closing time in my opinion, 7 pm. But it's what it is, owner knows best. Make sure to bring a hat and sunscreen if you are here on a sunny day for berry picking. Store is amazing too, lots of goodies or tasty items to choose from! The best farm in the area!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Spicer Orchards Farm Market, Cider Mill, Fudge & Bakery is hands-down one of the most vibrant and delightful places to spend a day in Michigan. Whether you're there to pick your own seasonal fruit—blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, cherries, peaches, and of course apples—straight off the vine or tree, or just to soak up the sights, it delivers an experience that feels both refreshing and wholesome. 🧺 The pick-your-own experience is top-notch. With a fun wagon ride to the fields, it’s easy to access the freshest fruits imaginable—nothing beats the flavor of something that’s just been picked. They even offer lavender cutting, adding a fragrant, colorful touch to the adventure. 🍩 After picking, the farm store is an absolute must-visit. Fresh doughnuts made all day, creamy fudge, ice cream, homemade jams and fruit salsas, cider slushies, honey sticks—you’ll want one of everything. And for those 21+, the winery offers a rich selection of wines and cider beers. If you're unsure what to try, a flight and a few appetizers is the perfect intro. 🎡 In the fall, Spicer Orchards transforms into a festive playground of joy. Food vendors dish up favorites like BBQ, corn dogs, elephant ears, street corn, popcorn, and fresh lemonade. Kids (and grownups alike!) can explore the playground, get lost in the corn maze, or hop on amusement rides. This is a true one-stop destination for family fun, seasonal delights, and homemade treats. Whether you stay for an hour or the whole day, you’ll leave smiling—and probably with a bag full of goodies. Don’t miss it!

Google
DISAPPOINTING AND RUDE STAFF Prices are kind of high on a bunch of stuff, especially their fresh baked apples. They want $18.95 for a small bag. Not a 5 lb bag or anything like that. Like a 2 lb bag of apples so that's a first turn off Very overpriced on everything We get to the donuts and the donuts smell really good. They look really good. They're fairly priced-ish. I will say just for a very small strawberry donut you know $6 for a half dozen 1295 for a dozen. Something like that. The donuts do not have any flavor at all. They are just like eating paper I got a six pack of strawberry donuts and a six pack of defrosted strawberry donuts. The frosted ones are pretty good but all you can taste is the frosting. There is no strawberry flavor at all The regular unfrosted strawberry donuts have literally no flavor at all. There's no strawberry. There's no donut flavor. They're not sweet. They're just paper dough . Not one person said anything to us walking into the store or by the donut area. We got to the ice cream area. Once again nobody we went to the fudge area once again. Nobody around one employee came walking by didn't even acknowledge us We got to the barbecue sausage and stuff like that and I had to ask a lady at the front. Does the barbecue sauces have mustard because I am highly allergic to mustard on their ingredients list. All they have is some of the ingredients and then a category of spices, which in most cases means they use mustard But when you ask somebody they have no clue. So she basically told me in her opinion she would not buy any because it could have mustard in it because they don't specifically say it does or not So when you're told by an employee not to buy something then you just don't so I avoided that We asked that same employee did it cost anything to go pick strawberries She said no. You paid $2 for a cardboard box you go out you pick the strawberries and you come back and they weigh the strawberries and you pay them then We go out. I use a cane and a walker to get around and I tell you what if you are disabled or have a hard time walking or getting around in rough terrain. Avoid this it's hard for disabled people to do We get up to the front to pay and we are charged $5 for the wristbands that we were not told about. We were told they were free $2 for the box and $4 a pound for the strawberries which we were told about the $2 box and the $4 a pound for strawberries but not told about the $5 for the wristbands we were told they were free We go over to the winery and I will tell you this. I will never walk back into that winery again. Customer service was non- existent we were not greeted. We were completely ignored There were two gentlemen at the bar who apparently had been drinking for a while. There were two ladies at the other end of the bar who had like 10 bottles of wine and the one customer service lady there stuck with them the whole time. She did not check on anybody else. She didn't say anything to us until about 10 minutes of us sitting there in silence The older lady was extremely rude and snippy and stuck up. You can tell she did not want us there. She didn't care about us. She walked over in front of us three or four different times. Never even lifted her eyes to look at us We were going to get a couple samples of wine because we had never been there. So I asked for a sample of the honey white and she had to go get little plastic cups. She didn't say anything about hold on We asked for a sample of wine and the older lady was very rude about saying you can only have two She was very snotty and rude about it when she came back over after we had our two sips of wine and didn't even ask us if we wanted anything else. Just stared at us awkwardly I said we're good. I said my wife was going to ask about the mojito apple cider But doesn't want to spend that kind of money if it isn't any good. And she just looked at us and said it's just minty and then walked away from us We walked out and will never walk into the winery part again

Been coming here over 10 years. One of my favorite places of all time to go. Delicious cider and donuts. Open year round. Always things to do and very kid and family friendly. Fun picking fruits throughout the year and they frequently have events. New food menu is delicious. The workers in the tasting room are always friendly and their drinks are phenomenal.

Don't waste your time at spicers for raspberries or strawberries. Unless you want maybe 15 raspberries if that and pay $6 for them after they claim (from 5 year old pictures) that raspberries are ready for picking. Also strawberry picking is not fantastic but thankfully that's by weight , for insect eaten mushy strawberries. At this point, they need to be warning people that its not great instead of gladly charging $5 a person for a wristband just to get on the wagon, first person free..... to pick nothing. Biggest money grab I've ever seen and I very seldom write bad reviews or complain. I gladly left the raspberries that I picked sitting on the counter because I am not paying $6 for 15 berries especially when the picture they posted yesterday shown huge red luscious berries. False advertisement for sure. Wanted to warn people so they aren't surprised like us and everyone else than shown up today to pick. Spicers staff, dont even waste your time commenting on my review because NOTHING is going to change my review or make us come back to your establishment. You are not the same spicers when I was a kid. Your place is an overpriced dump and fully regret giving you a penny. Good luck to the out of towners that haven't been fooled yet by your money grab. Any comment you do will just show how you're trying to save face. Not professional at all. Also, the picture spicers posted for their raspberries being ready and red luscious berries..... is from 5 years or so ago!!!! Fake and lies! The only thing you can do to make this right is give us our money back. You can also have your strawberries back as long as they didn't mold in the 2 hours we had them.

This was a great place to meet up with family members. We paid for our wristbands and got our bags to take out to the Apple orchard. The hayride to get to the apples was nice. You could get off and stop at different areas of the orchard to get different types of apples. There were also raspberries available. With the wristbands from the apple picking we were able to access the animal area and the playground area too. The gift shop was really nice and the cider and donuts are delicious.

Google
We stopped here because of the good reviews and all it showed they had to offer. They have a winery that has great drinks and service! They also had a ton of stands set up where you could get hot food and snacks. They had lots for adults and kids, making it perfect for families. I have been to a lot of orchards, and this is definitely one of my favorites. Cant wait for my favorite time of the year to come back around!

Yelp
Came out to the orchard for a 5k run and loved every minute of it. Such a beautiful property. There is plenty to do with children of all sizes. They have a store that sells everything you could need and the cider!!! chefs kiss. Gather your tribe and head out to spicer for a day. you won't regret it!

Yelp
The tasting room for their ciders and wine is very cute and the drinks are pretty good! king Blossom cider is delicious! We also always bring our traveling guests to the market for some goodies. I'm obsessed with their cinnamon donuts and apple cider mustard. Can't wait for strawberry season and fall!

Yelp
Total lack of handicap parking , not parking for loading or unloading those with wheelchairs. God forbid your in a wheelchair, getting around is next to impossible. Broke a prosthetic foot just trying to get cider and donuts, walking on uneven pavers. Leadership could careless. It is sade to see how far Spicers as fallen since the passing of Grandma Spicer. Sadly her children and staff failed to learn for her love of the farm and its customers/guests

Yelp
We came here to do some fruit picking! You pay by the weight of the fruit, and depending on the fruit, need to pay for the container. However, everything was very well-priced. We decided to pick blueberries, raspberries and cherries! The wagon ride to the fields was super fun. We then shopped at the market, picking up some fudge, crumble mix, and produce. When I went home, I used the crumble mix and all the different fruit we picked to make a crumble!! Pictured below. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
Let me start by saying I was a die-hard Erwins Orchard fan. When they sold to Blakes the donuts were served cold and the prices skyrocketed. This year some friends decided to check out Spicer Orchards so it was our first time going. We went on a Sunday. Parking was easy, it was quick getting bags to pick apples and there was a nice variety to pick from. I liked that there was staff at each picking stop. Afterwards the lines to get cider & donuts and get stuff in the store went quickly. There were even real restrooms. I didn't have a chance to check out the winery there this time but will DEFINITELY be back as this is my new go-to apple orchard. The donuts were the best I have ever had, served nice and hot! Good job and see you again soon.

Yelp
They always have fresh and good products donuts and cider are always great. Even if there's a long line for picking strawberries, etc. It moves fast.

Yelp
Came Sunday early afternoon, and there was a good amount of people but not too crowded. Went apple picking, it's $22 for a bag that fits around 10-12 apples, which includes the ride there and back. They also had a pumpkin patch, corn maze, petting zoo, playground, a store, and a winery. The apples were great, not many during this time in the season but we picked some sweet and crunchy ones. There are a great amount of seats in the main area as well, so it was nice to sit and enjoy the weather and scenery. They sold out of the pumpkin cinnamon donuts once we arrived at the front of the line (around 3pm) so be sure to get them early! We got a 6 pack of the cinnamon donuts. Individual donuts go for $1.50 each which I think is great. They also have iced, hot, and slushed apple cider. Donuts were delicious--a nice shell with a warm and soft center. It's a great place for it's size and it's not super overwhelming. Parking was easy, and the apple picking reasonably priced compared to other orchards.

Yelp
A family run farm with a market and winery that is open year round. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was not too crowded. You pay 3.00 a person to pick. They take you by wagon to the orchards. When you are done picking, they weigh your container and you pay for your berries. We picked a pint of raspberries and a container of blueberries. They also have a sunflower field that you cut your own sunflowers..$10 for 5. Next up will be peaches in August. Apple picking is the most popular but they do sell fresh donuts, cider and fudge year round in the market. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are super friendly. After picking we sat in the outdoor area by the tasting room to sample some of their wines and ciders. They also have a kitchen serving a few food items. The Coney Dog was amazing! For a fun day out in the country, Spicers is the place to go.

Yelp
Don't come here unless you have a bunch of money to spend! I'm surprised they don't charge for parking. You have to pay to even use the playground, even tho they have no signs posted about this policy effective I'm told summer 2024! Adults pay playground admission too. They say its because with the price you can take a wagon ride. Never used to be this money hungry and its really sad to see such greed. Especially in times when money is so tight for a lot of families. They got a star for donuts and another for cider. Wouldn't pay for anything else, considering their prices!

Yelp
I can't believe I have never been to Spicer Orchards until this fall! This place is divine and is such a perfect amalgamation of what a cider mill should be. It's MASSIVE and has so many family friendly activities for all ages and their farm market, which predominantly I'm focusing on their cider and donuts, is wonderful as well! Their cider is a bit too sweet for my liking, but their donuts are genuinely OUT OF THIS WORLD! They are on the bigger side, but taste so fluffy and light, rather than that very cakey, dense, and dry texture! I had yet to find a larger-sized donut that accomplishes this and now I do not need to look any further! Blake's donuts are trash, Spicer has the same sized donuts as Blake's, but are infinitely better. Honestly Spicer donuts reminds me of a larger-sized Yates donut and Yates donuts are my favorite, so I was really happy to see another wonderfully made donut at a different cider mill and that in and of itself is enough to go back! As for cider though, Yates and Blakes still beat out Spicer as they have more depth of flavor and a good balance between sweet and tart, while Spicer is overwhelmingly sweet. The grounds at this orchard/cider mill are massive. I don't think you can do apple picking here, but there are so many other activities. There's a whole petting farm, coffee truck pulled up, hay rides, and so many more activities. We didn't get to properly explore the grounds, but rather opted to just sit at a picnic table and hang out over cider and donuts, but I am definitely interested in coming back to properly explore the rest of the area! I'll be back soon, Spicer! Thanks for a great time!

Yelp
Hands down the best cider mill! The donuts are served warm and fresh. Reasonable prices - One dozen cost $10.95. The cinnamon sugar are definitely a must try and my go to every time I visit! They have a winery and shop to purchase other items such as cider, pies, cookies, apples, honey, ice cream, and much more. Give the butter pecan cookies a try - these have become a must purchase for me! Yummy! They have a play area for kids and a petting zoo for a small fee. Also, you can take a wagon to the pumpkin patch. They also have a corn maze. Plenty of parking and easy to access very close to the freeway. So much to do and definitely worth the visit! I look forward to coming here every Fall.

Yelp
Bountiful crops of raspberries and blueberries as well as sunflowers were available for us to pick at this beautiful family farm. Check their schedule online or call first for availability because it changes with the seasons. There is a gift shop and bakery too selling freshly made donuts hot from the oven. You can also do a wine tasting in the bar as well as order food like the Coney dog.

Yelp
We love this place in the fall for their donuts and cider and they have an awesome play area for the kids. It gets super packed on the weekends. The location sells a lot of different stuff inside from apples to trinkets, to ice cream and fudge. Kind of gives you the up north feels. Lots to do for a family outing tho and they have a wine house on site which has some nice wines. We love going hear in the winter for their Santa Experience. The kids enjoy the train ride out to meet Santa and Mrs. Clause. It's an awesome annual family outing.
google avatar

Meng H.

Yelp
Still a good place to visit. They did move the food trucks. More parking for everyone. They even added live music. Not so many people because of Covid19. Still a decent amount of people. The atmosphere is still the same. I should add, the play area for the kids is only $2. A lot cheaper than Blake's. Both, Blake's and Spicers have really outdone themselves. Great job to both places for bringing meaning to "Cider Mill" or "Apple orchard". Highly recommended

Yelp
I was in the area on a Tuesday afternoon and decided to pop in to check it out for the first time. And I'm in love! The grounds have a lot going on here. A winery, a petting farm, small rides for the kiddos, a corn maze, and a shop packed to the gills with seasonal treats like cider and donuts (highly recommend the cinnamon pumpkin!), cider slushies, pies, fritters, sweet breads, caramel apples, fudge, ice cream, etc. They have a wide variety of apples and you can choose U-Pick or pre-picked options in the shop (since I was doing a drive by I went with the latter), house made jams and jellies, etc. Particularly appreciate that the cider and donuts are self serve (donuts are available single or in bags of a half dozen) so it makes it very easy to grab and go. The only thing I had to wait for was my cider slushee since those are prepared to order. The ice cream also has a service counter. FYI it looks like there's a bit more oomph on site on the weekends (totally understandable since it's probably their busiest time) including more food stalls and treat tents. If you want the full experience I'd recommend that. If you just want to pick apples, grab some cider and a donut, etc then come on a weekday when it's more chill. Also, it's $2 to enter the farm area and it's cash only so bring some billz if you want to hang with the goatz.

Carrie B.

Yelp
Donuts and cider were great BUT, they charge 5 a person to get into the kids play area. With as much money as they get they should be ashamed as to charge a family that much for playing in that area. Other great cider mills to go to that are family affordable. DONT waste your money or time here.

Yelp
What was I thinking. I read Party of Alyssa Matts, best cider mills for adults in Metro Detroit. I was hooked, hyped, wanted to get out to check out some good hard ciders. Off to Spicers I go, total bad decision definitely not the weekend to go. Yeah the weather was beautiful and the drive was nice. But I should have known this place would be full of kids packed and all about the almighty dollar. We started out heading straight for the hard cider, Mehh figured I'd try the sampler, 10 bucks for four little 1.5 oz shots. This was barely enough to get a taste for The cider and not a good deal. We also got the caricature plate, with meat and cheese as recommended by Alyssa Matt, but at 20 bucks it was pretty lackluster also. Oh well head to the store, wait to get in packed with people, we did pick up a few things homemade dressings and jam a half gallon of cider, a couple of cookies $35+. And we wanted them donuts another line to get them, but this was probably the best part we got the half dozen mix,(not bad) then set out for a place to sit down and eat our doughnuts. Not so easy, this place is more like a carnival full of crap that just takes away from the experience of the donuts and cider. If you want to do anything it costs, kids play area costs, the heyride to pick apples costs, the corn mazes 10 dollars each and so on$$$. You come with your family and you want to do anything or get anything get ready to drop some dollars. I spent $75+ easy. Sorry but this no longer is my type of cider Mill. I'm not into all this extra crap. I hate to say it Alyssa Matt I thought this place sucked and it's not for me. Still going to go 3 stars I know allot of people enjoy this place. But for me sorry Spicer it's a skip.

Yelp
THE best cinnamon donuts ever!! They're a must try here. It's a super cute orchard with lots of fun activities like a petting zoo and outdoors game area - very family friendly!
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
No complaints as long as you visit during the week. Love the kids area, we can spend hours there looking at animals and playing on the structures. They have their own wine and hard ciders. The store has a variety of homemade items. Donuts and cider are yummy.
google avatar

Rick W.

Yelp
Excellent cider and very good larger sized cinnamon doughnuts. Very vice gift shop and friendly service at the counter and at checkout. Our visit was somewhat off season and it looked like they offer many more things to do during peak season.

Yelp
I went here for the first time with a friend and her daughter. We had a great time! Prices were a little high in the country store IMO. I still made sure I bought some treats though. Everything seems to have an extra cost. Since there was just the three of us it wasn't a huge deal. Larger families just watch out. It really adds up. I loved the farm animals and feeding them! They had a cool fair type area. We didn't pick apples, but did do a hayride and that included cider and a donut. It was a nice hayride. Donuts were great! Fudge was good (not as good as Mackinac). Get there early because they do get very busy!
google avatar

Charlene L.

Yelp
Such a fun family activity! We took our toddler apple picking and were so glad we found this place. We went on a Friday morning so fortunately it wasn't too busy. They have a market filled with lots of goodies. Make sure you purchase your picking bag first in the market before waiting for the wagon to the orchards! We didn't know until we saw other families with picking bags while waiting in line. The orchards are quite big so make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes and a hat (sun was quite strong). Ask the workers what apples are in what sections because it is easy to get lost with all the rows of trees. After we went apple picking, we went back to the market and got some donuts and apple cider to bring home. The donuts were a great snack and we also loved the apple cider!
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
Everything an orchard experience should be! Many local products in the market section. Everything is delicious!

Yelp
A really cute fun fall activity spot to go, but keep in mind if you don't like lines or crowds don't go on a weekend day! They have cute food stands with corn on the cob, funnel cakes, kettle corn, BBQ, etc. They also sell amazing freshly fried apple cider donuts and apple cider. There's a store/bakery inside selling all types of apple products. Pumpkin patch, U-Pick Apple Orchard, tractor rides. There's even wine and cider tasting! A fall lover's dream! You WILL wait in line for absolutely everything though, and I mean everything.
google avatar

Ivan S.

Yelp
Is a great place to hang out with friends and family. They have a lot of things to do, you can take a wagon ride to do apple and berry picking, fresh fried donuts and cider, winery for you to have a nice hard cider, concessions to buy popcorn, cinnamon pecans, Mexican elote, smoked BBQ, rides for the kids to enjoy, a petty zoo -and a big play area for the kids. They also have a big store ( never been inside so not sure what they sell)

Yelp
Went to Spicer yesterday with my sister and her bf's kids and we had a great time. Started off with a flight of cider and wine, kids indulged on pop and regular cider, and had an incredible apple & onion sandwich. My sister ordered the same for herself and pretzel bites and a wrap for the kids. The food came out pretty quickly, even with how many people were there, and was nice and hot. Spicer is nice because there is so much to do and see! We were going to do the U-Pick and pick some apples, but decided to just play in the fun area, since it was going to rain. Fun area is only $2 per person and has something for everyone. We also picked up coffee and doughnuts, which the kids went crazy for (the doughnuts)! Fun day!

Yelp
We had fun. We enjoyed the food. Loved the hayride. People was nice there. I appreciated the petting zoo. Live music playing.

Yelp
We enjoyed our stop at Spicer's Winery. We tried their Pick 4 flight options. My selections were Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carriage Dry red. All were pretty good. We also ordered their pretzel bits which were delicious. The staff is very friendly. Nice tasting room.

Yelp
I've been going to Spicers since before I was born. My mom would go and get donuts when I was in the womb. This would explain my addiction and obsession with Spicers cinnamon sugar donuts and now their pumpkin donuts, which are out of this world. There is nothing like a Spicers donut, they are warm and doughy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. I recently moved to Georgia, but when I was home for four days last week I visited Spicers 3x and their winery twice. Their fudge is great too and their cider is the best I have ever had.

Yelp
My first time to Spicers Orchards over the weekend. I was expecting it to be very crowded for a Saturday, which it was. I really thought they had the layout of the orchard set up nice and spaced out. Besides waiting in a long line to pay, everything was fairly fast. Even the line for the donuts! The place is a goldmine LOL. General Admit was $2 per person, Train Ride was $3 per person, the two rides my son went on were $5 each, bag of feed for the animals $1. However, he played & had fun and we go maybe twice a year so it was worth it! He played the entire day and was wore out by the time we left. Very impressed and loved the drive out to Spicers. I'm sure weekdays are not as busy compared to the weekends.

Yelp
Spicer Orchard -very close to my nephews home- and a great orchard to go to for the many different varieties of apples that you can pick in their orchards or walk in and purchase by the bag. They also have fresh cider by the quart and by the gallon. They have lots of fun little tchotchkes that you can buy too, but I really wasn't there for those today so tried not to spend too much time looking. It is a really fun place to check out! At the back they have the bakery along with the processing area for the apple cider. The bakery offers all kinds of goodies but they are best known for their fresh donuts. The donuts come in pumpkin, plain, cinnamon, and powdered sugar. Don't think that's all!!!!......because the baked goods don't end there! They have all kinds of fresh loaves of bread's sliced and not sliced. They have many varieties of pies that are definitely homemade. Today they were offering apple, pumpkin and strawberry rhubarb along with cheesecakes. I was very tempted to grab some apple fritters which I saw but I restrained myself. They also have a lot of old fashion candy along with homemade fudge, pecan caramel clusters and different varieties of freshly popped and flavored popcorn. The staff here is always friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our visit and we will be back. Just as an aside, the parking lot was very full when we arrived at noon. There was a bus full of elderly people out in the back 40 at the picnic tables which are covered by a huge pavilion and are next to the winery. There were also many families with young children that were out in the orchard picking their own apples. We also happened upon a school bus full of private school kiddos who were lining up for a group picture as we left. As I mentioned -it's really fun and if you're in the area you should definitely come by and give it a try. Maybe you would want to buy some fall decorations like bales of straw and corn stalks along with pumpkins and other goodies!!

Yelp
Perfect spot for kids birthday party! To my understanding covered area was free, but 1st come, 1st served. Lots of things for kids to play on. The kids loved feeding the animals Great experience for all.

Yelp
Bought donuts on a Friday afternoon and some cider. Nice environment, very full store with nicknacks and other items. Not sure if it's because it's not cider season, but the cider was not at all spiced; it was almost apple juice. The donuts? Eh, they resembled a 6 pack from Krogers. I'd visit again for the atmosphere, but not for the cider and donuts.

Yelp
Donuts were super delicious. They were warm as they were freshly made, surprisingly it was not overly sweet! I could eat a whole bag of them!!! Their apple cider was also refreshing and crisp.

Yelp
Fantastic!! Came here with the wife and our families to come pick out some strawberries. It was excellent. The summer weather in Michigan is lovely compared to Louisiana and we took full advantage of it! After we got done picking all the strawberries we decided to hit up the wines section/bar to partake in their wines and cider. Wow!!! Every sample that we tried was excellent! Truly a great experience. So much of a great experience that we took a lot of the wine/cider home with us. A great spot for activities and booze. Sign me up!

Yelp
This was a nice orchard with lots of activities. We started with wine tasting- they have an indoor area and outdoor- we sat outdoors and there were lots of picnic tables. There was live music (went on a Sunday afternoon). Went on the tractor for apple picking. There were lines but overall to be expected for any cider mill on a fall Sunday- nothing was too much of a wait. Probably around 20 minutes for the tractor ride and 15 minutes for cider and doughnuts. Doughnuts were really tasty- recommend the pumpkin cinnamon sugar ones! Got 2 pumpkins - one small, one medium. They had a good selection to pick from! They have a lot of parking, just little walk over to the cider mill. Small men and women's bathroom and a row of portapotties for bathroom access. The women's bathroom had a longer line, but no line for porta potties. FYI no pets in the tasting area or orchard.

Yelp
This was a terrific experience! The market had delicious cinnamon doughnuts and some other random food items that remind me of some of southern orchards. The wine and cider selection was delicious with a little something for everyone. The bartenders were great and bantered with us in an engaging way as we selected our flights. Attended the animal farm and had a great time feeding the goats. The feed machine was broken though so we picked grass to hand to them. All in all though, it was a great time!

Yelp
The perfect fall treat! 1. Apple picking $22 for a bag that probably fits about 10-15 apples (kind of pricey) but so worth it! Includes free hay rides to any spot in the orchards, from spot to spot within the orchards, and back. There's always tractors coming through so it was really easy to hitch a ride to and fro, and the orchards were large enough to roam around for hours, yet also close enough to the main restaurant/ shop area that you could easily walk 2 minutes away and be in the orchards. 2. Donuts Best. Donut. I have ever had. In my life! Got the pumpkin cinnamon donuts (1/2 dozen for about $8 I believe) and they were INCREDIBLE! Freshly made, soft, light and fluffy on the inside and slightly chewy/crispy on the outside - amazing. I didn't know a donut could taste so good. 3. Hot apple cider Incredible fresh, crisp, apple cider ($3/cup). The perfect thing for the cold weather. The only thing is, when we arrived, the line for the apple cider and donuts was really long (think about 30-45 minute wait). A couple of hours later on there was no wait. Overall wonderful experience, definitely hope to come again!

Yelp
I had a great time here with my son. The play area is really nice with a variety of toys the kids can play with/on. The mini farm was nice. We picked cherries and blueberries which weee $3 per lb. There were plenty of ripe berries to pick from. I had a positive experience here. I'll definitely come back.

Yelp
There are so many opportunities here depending on when you come. I just missed the sunflowers blooming this year, but I caught the pumpkin season! And the store and winery are terrific year round. You can tell a difference in the donuts and cider here. I live very close to the mill in Franklin so it's quite a drive for me to get out here, but it's worth it.

Yelp
'petting zoo' was a joke. Prices for activities are outrageous. Also prices in the store were sky high. $22 for a half peck of apples???? Will not bother to go there again.

Yelp
So much fun and so much to do! We showed up on the later end, so we didn't get to explore everything (additionally, it seemed like some of the workers were trying to close up early), but apple picking was lovely and the apples tasted great. I will say, you prepay for a singular bag, so that can be a pro/con depending on who you are. The hard ciders were also really tasty and the apple cider donut may be the best i have ever had. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Hard to review this orchard because our visit was for one thing and it left us disappointed but it did have a variety of things/services...but again, not what we wanted. My cousin and I wanted to get a lot of great pictures of us with sunflowers and take a few bunches home with us. Negatives - the sunflower field is very small compared to other farms/orchards. The sunflowers were planted in relatively neat rows but the ground between the rows did not appear to be leveled after plowing...we darn near broke an ankle trying to navigate the terrain. The sunflowers were pretty much the same size but a few larger sunflowers that were there at one time but cut down. Nearly all the sunflowers were the bright yellow color and very few were the rusty orange or light cream color. My cousin said that the restroom - while an actual restroom and not porta potty - was in rough shape from a cleanliness standpoint. Positives - if you are looking for a full orchard experience, this might be the place for you. Cider, donuts, apples, eventually pumpkins, corn, hay rides to different fields to pick veggies/fruit, winery, etc. But if you really just want sunflowers, your best bet is to visit Schell's in Pinckney and or Gust Flower Produce in Ottawa Lake.

Yelp
Wow! I can't believe it took me this long to visit Spicer Orchards! This place is amazing! My daughter came here last October for a field trip and told me how wonderful it was, but it was not until a friend told me it was open during the summer that I finally had the chance to check it out for myself. Currently it is summertime. I came for blueberry and raspberry picking, which I have always wanted to try. They charge you for either a plastic bucket or a small container to pick the fruit. No need to pay upfront, they will weigh it once you return. A tractor with hay bails picks you up at the front. They have separated areas so you may distance. It is all very clever and ingenious. They drop you off in the different fruit fields. We had a really wonderful time picking. Then you pay for the fruit once you return. I found the prices very fair. We had one bucket of blueberries and two containers of raspberries for under $7! It was very organized and easy. Everyone was super friendly and eager to make sure guests had a great time. As stated on their website, you must wear a mask inside the buildings, but may take it off while you are social distancing and picking in the fruit fields. They also have hand sanitizer, sanitizing stations, and clean bathrooms with soap and water which are cleaned very often. A employee was consistently wiping down surfaces outside and cleaning the restrooms multiple times. They seemed to go out of their way to make an anxious customers feel at ease. I love wine and cider tasting. I was ecstatic to find a winery here. They were also super organized and cautions about guidelines and distancing. They have an area to wait until you are able to come up to the bar, and you have a small amount of seating inside as well as outside. Their wines come from St. Julian and Fenn Valley, and they make their own ciders. They have an $8 tasting or a $15 tasting. They range from dry to sweet. It was a blast trying their flight. Or you can purchase their drinks by the glass. They also sell the wine and cider for low prices. I pineapple cider was so fresh and tropical, I really enjoyed that one! If you need snacks, they had chips, cheese and salamis for purchase to complete your tasting at a very fair cost. I am excited to come back here for more! Near the fields they have a kid's play area with climbing structures, like a tree house, a tractor, and fun looking games, like bean bag toss. There are plenty of picnic tables and a petting farm with food for purchase. The kids loved the goats and spent quite a bit of timing buying feed and petting they animals. I loved their country store!!! I bought way too much since everything was so stinking adorable! They have cute costume jewelry like earrings and bracelets. Lawn stakes. Fudge and candy. Wooden signs. Sauces, popcorn, and maple products. All at low prices which is probably why I went so crazy! They make your traditional cider donuts which come in five flavors plus!!! I got the old fashion, blueberry, cherry, powdered sugar, and cinnamon sugar mix. They also had gluten free and iced for an additional charge. The dozen was less than $9, which is great. We purchased some cider. It all tasted amazing, and pushes their donuts and cider to the top of my list of Cider Mill donuts. The kids also bought frozen apple and cherry cider slushies, which were only $2 each! Some places get you for $4 or more dollars, I know we are coming back several more time this year alone now that I know to put this in my cider mill rotation! What a great day here in Fenton. I look forward to coming back soon!!!

Yelp
Beautiful field and good cider and donuts, but overpriced in comparison to other blueberry farms. Also, they are now charging $3.00 per person for a ride out to the fields.

Yelp
i have been going to this orchard since I was a kid. loved the apple picking, the donuts / cider pick up. the hayride, the small animal farm. we went there today and it was NONE of that. i was so sad leaving today. the amount of capitalization was astounding and disappointing. the portable bathrooms had literal sh$t up to the lids, the staff was insanely rude and the costs of everything was insane. do they have new owners? i am so sad. this is not spicers. This is not what it should be. I did like that they added their winery a few years back, but the way this is weighing on my heart is so frustrating. i could not even take pictures. waiting in line felt like we were at cedar point. the amount of people versus the staff needs to be reevaluated. staff should not be angry, toilets needs to be cleaned, and smooshed apples need to be taken care of. so incredibly sad.

Yelp
Based off reviews, I chose to come here instead of Wiards. But let me tell you, the 40 minute drive was worth it. There were vendors, a winery, a market with apple cider and pumpkin donuts, a huge area for kids that's only $2 to enter, and a hay ride to the apple picking and big pumpkin patch. No crazy prices, which I loved. Lines were long but moved quickly. Employees were pleasant. My friends, myself, and our children all enjoyed this wonderful orchard. The unfortunate part was that not all the apples were sweet and juicy, and they ran out of Fuji apples. The best ones were Northern Spys and Gala apples. Those were delicious! But I know that's something you can't control. Otherwise, every year, I know which orchard I'll be at to pick apples.

Yelp
We were looking for a good socially distanced activity to do and I suddenly thought of Spicer's, based on previous fall visits. I called the day before visiting and they told me that the raspberry field was open (they close it down periodically for the bushes to ripen), so onwards we went! We felt very safe at Spicer's. The tart cherries were abundant and so were the raspberries. We managed to pick both - the cherries will make a wonderful pie. The store was all marked for social distancing and everyone working wore masks. The wagons for the raspberry fields also had barriers so you were separated from the next party by a wooden plank. We also got some fresh doughnuts and apple cider to go and man are they delicious! If you're looking for a good outdoor activity to get some fresh air and sunshine, go to Spicer's and pick some cherries!
