How To Spend A Day In Oakland Chinatown: Community Spaces, Restaurants, Shops, & More - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"I go to Spices 3 specifically for a tongue-tingling dose of the mala peppercorns found in southwestern Sichuan province. Try the classic dish liang fen, a spicy mung bean noodle dish doused in soy sauce and black vinegar and topped with chilis, or one of the other fiery Sichuan staples like ma po tofu, dan dan noodles, and water boiled fish in red oil. If you need a bold palate cleanser, try their Taiwanese-inspired stinky fried tofu." - Daphne Wu

Super low key restaurant with affordable and delicious food! My favorite is the salt and pepper eggplant! The texture and flavor are just excellent. It’s always been really quiet and empty when I go in, go give them some love!

Google
A bit of a hole in the wall restaurant serving Chinese food with an emphasis on noodles. I had the bbq pork bun and tan tan mien, both of which were really fresh and flavourful. Prices are pretty standard and the portions are pretty big for the price. The place was completely empty when I went there during lunchtime on a weekday so service was quite fast. There was one guy tending to the front of the store and he was polite and attentive. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.

Google
Excellent food and service. Very nice and the food was delicious, savory, and properly spicy. The vegetarian options are also really nice and very flavorful. There’s something for everyone here! The food is very authentic, so don’t order anything spicy if you can’t handle a lot of spice!

Google
Delicious noodles and fast service. The noodles are super chewy, the soup is flavorful (but could be spicier). One area for improvement would be to play some music in the restaurant because it is very quiet in therewhich is kinda weird

Google
OhhMyyyGoodness...this place is the best. Unassuming but GREAT dishes. Beef cumin chow mein is soo tasty. Spicy chicken al la cart delicious...just order your favorite dishes and you won't be disappointed 😋

Google
Place was empty at noon Monday and the storefront isn't promising but the food is very good. Be warned, people with timid tongues: I ordered the one noodle soup that didn't have "Spicy" in the name but it still had a mighty kick! I was given a cracked and leaky tea cup but they replaced it right away.

Google
We ordered take out of the Singapore noodles and Mongolian beef. It was so tasty and portions were great. We loved it!

Google
They have sorry service. This is the second time that I called in for my food but there was no order made. Just bad business. It is sad when u have money and you want your food but u get bad service because people think your black. I pray for peace but the hate is real. They will not see me or my money again.

Yelp
I was craving CHINISE tonight and looked up dim sum on doordash. I'm from Central Valley but come to the bay to work. I'm still searching for my go to CHINISE Resteraunt. I ordered a whole smattery of food for dinner and meal preps for the work week. Fried rice combo Mongolian beef Sesame chicken Shu Mai x3 Har kow Lotus leaf rice Thai tea Egg custard bun Now, I don't know WHY this is a Bay Area thing. Every other bay area Resteraunt I've been to is the same. The dim sum is TINY. Like half the size of central and south California. The lotus leaf rice is 1/3rd smaller than normal. Yet the prices are higher than anywhere south of the bay. Insane. The shu mai, custard bun and Har kow tasted just okay. Like almost like frozen, and cooked from frozen tasting. Mongolian beef, the beef is a little too... wet? Like maybe that's their style. But I like the beef more pan fried. Everything else tasted good enough though. Nothing like stood out to me. The major PRO though is I got hella food. I ate it for dinner. Meal prepped for the next 2 days of 12 hour shifts. And half enough for 3 more meals probably lol. See my pics. Overall 3/5. My hunt for the best, and agreeable prices CHINISE food in the bay continues!

Yelp
369 12th St Oakland, CA 94607 (Between Franklin and Webster) It's Monday night, around 9pm in downtown Oakland. I just got off work, and I decided to stop by at Spices Noodle House to grab some chow mein and won ton soup. Spicy BBQ Pork Chow Mein, $12.95 Won Ton Soup, $9.95 The dining room was pretty much bare. A chinese lady was busy prepping takeout and delivery orders. After giving me time to read the menu, she popped out to take my order. The $$ total came out to be just over $25. She tells me 10-mins, and goes back to the kitchen. Service gets (4/5). The Won Ton Soup was six plump dumplings, lots of veggies, in a light broth. Price: $9.95.....Grade (4/5) I liked the Spicy BBQ Pork Chow Mein. It wasn't super spicy. It had some chopped up dried red chili peppers. Thick ropey noodles with small pieces of bbq pork. Average sized portion for takeout. Price $12.95, Grade (4/5) These are the "in-person" menu prices. Apparently this place is also known as "China Taste." I only saw street parking available. 12th St is a one-way street. Overall, good food for the price.

Yelp
Ate the food so fast I forgot to take a photo lol my friend put me on to Spices and it was delicious across the board. We ordered in shrimp dumplings, walnut shrimp, sesame balls, egg drop soup, and the green beans. All flavored well and delicious, but the standout for me was the walnut shrimp! I'm excited to come back in person at the restaurant to try more things on the menu.

Yelp
This place was quick, and hit the spot perfectly! The noodles weren't dry and they were flavorful

Yelp
Was really in the mood for dim sum. Everything was closed in the neighborhood. Everything closes early like four or 6 o'clock in this neighborhood because it's slightly undesirable as per the owner. But we ordered from their small list of dim sum and it was very good. Thank you.

Yelp
We haven't been here in ages since we moved away. But we came back on a weekend afternoon and enjoyed the food here like we used to. The crab rangoons, shiu mai, and the chow mein noodles were very fresh. The only thing lacking was the sesame chicken. It was not fresh or crispy. It was also odd because the staff doesn't speak English, we pointed to the menu where he highlighted our order in Chinese. But even after doing that he got our order wrong. Food is solid regardless though sometimes I think they split staff with the restaurant across the street so that could be weird.

Yelp
Food: The Tomato egg noodle was good, tasted just like a classic tomato egg, the salt pepper tofu was also really good, i love how they use silken when other places mostly use firm tofu, the hot and sour soup was very standard, not too sour or spicy :) and surprisingly the black sesame peanut mochi was so bomb it was the most delicious mochi i've ever had, idk if they make it fresh because it was warm! Service & Ambiance: I can't really speak for this bc I ordered delivery! Overall based on this experience I would definitely order food from here again, be in delivery or in person

Yelp
Food is amazing. Service is quick. The quality of the food feels fresh and yummy. I love the balance of flavor and spicy

Yelp
Huge portions. Delicious curry soup. Lots of indoor seating. Street parking only. I came here with a girlfriend for a quick bite. Ordered: Chicken chow mein Chicken curry soup The chicken curry soup is no joke. It was so good so delicious. It was nice and hot. Amazing. The restaurant didn't have a lot of fancy ambience, but it was absolutely perfect for a quick Chinese food bite . The chow mein was different from when I was used to. I probably wouldn't order it again, but it was so good. Great service. Recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from here and it was honestly the worse Chinese food I've had in Oakland. The tomato egg noodle is like diluted ketchup. The eggplant dish tastes like chemicals. The General Tso's tofu has a watery, flavorless sauce. I ate the broccoli out of it and am throwing the rest away. There are so many good options in Oakland for Chinese, but this is not one of them.

Yelp
I decided to check this place out on the whim through Uber Eats so that I could use my benefit and it really did not disappoint. All I need to say is that that salt and pepper fish is just so bomb! It is the most delicious thing I have tasted and just the flavor and everything is just perfect. I could eat that all day. We also got the combo noodles and the Kung pow chicken bao. I wasn't too impressed with the bow, but that's not to say that it wasn't good. It had great flavor, but just wasn't my jam. Shrimp fried rice was... Shrimp fried rice. Not to say that was bad, it was good, a little greasy, but still delicious. I like this place, I felt that the food came very quickly, the food for takeout was really good quality, and it wasn't cold or bad. I would definitely check it out again. Great place for quick food that has tons of flavor and isn't going to break the bank.

Yelp
There was no one sitting inside, but we decided to dine in since we were in the area. We ordered a few vegetarian dishes. The vegetarian chow mein was mid--a little greasier than what we prefer but it was still pretty good. The green beans were flavorful but not as crispy as we like. But the tso tofu was very yummy. There was some spice to it that gave it a flavorful kick. Overall, everything came out quickly and the portions were good. As vegetarians, nothing was super outstanding but we did enjoy the tofu and the efficiency.

Yelp
I was totally pleasantly surprised when I ordered takeout from this place. I wanted some good comfort food and this was delicious. Authentic flavors and it travelled really well! The noodles actually are spicy but ever so slightly. Perfect amount.

Yelp
I've only ever ordered through DoorDash. This is my go-to spot for Chinese takeout. Everything I've ordered has been delicious and generous portions. Some stand out dishes are the salt and pepper eggplant, crab rangoon (savory not sweet), chicken chow mein and honey walnut shrimp. Highly recommend!

Gabbi S.

Yelp
Decent beef and broccoli, quick service, and simple interior. Portions were a little small for the price, but I truly can't complain.

Yelp
Read!!!! DO NOT eat here. several health violations!! food tasted as if it was re cooked. service was bad to say the least. utensils and servingware were dirty no music in the dining room whatsoever, the only thing you hear is the cellphone of the servers while they are watching videos.

Yelp
My family and I went to the Bay back in November when the second wave of the pandemic was about to hit. With that in mind, rather than eat out, we ordered to-go and ate in the safety of our suite. Spices Noodle House was a gem during our visit. We ordered the following for dinner one night: -sesame chicken ($10.95): looks and acted a lot like orange chicken, but the pieces were a skinnier and coated in sesame seeds hence sesame chicken -dry braised green beans ($10.95) -salt and pepper fish ($9.95) -Mongolian beef ($10.95) -wontons in chili oil ($7.95) It all came with white rice, proper utensils, and everything you could possibly need for a to-go situation. And honestly, everything was so, so good. No complaints here. It was exactly what we were looking for and it how exactly we wanted everything to taste. Nothing was new or out the ordinary, but instead, the very best versions of what we've eaten in the past outside the comfort of our home. I can't imagine how much more tasty it might be in the restaurant if the take out situation is solid. If you're looking for a quick/cheap/easy meal, this is it.

Yelp
Don't waste your time. Ordered Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, Szechuan hot pot with seafood (which is supposed to come with rice or noodles and a drink), and asked them to include utensils and condiments as well. I enjoy spicy, but when it's just spicy, to be spicy, and there's no flavor and all you can tasty is chili oil, it's just not enjoyable. As for the "seafood" it was a couple pieces of whitefish, and the broccoli?! Seriously?! No sauce, and just take a look at the picture for yourself. Oh, and no drink, sides, condiments, or utensils. Thanks and it was both my first time and my last. Smdh

Yelp
This local Oakland Chinese restaurant has been delivering great food for years, and they can definitely bring the heat as noted in their name. On a recent visit, we enjoyed dishes spanning that range of spiciness that was always infused with flavor rather than just a focus on the heat level. Their spicy dry fried fish is a must for us as the white fish is perfectly cooked and the chile burn kicks in after a short delay. Combined with one of their spicy, ingredient-loaded hot pots, one may find one's mouth screaming, but their tasty dry-braised green beans and stir-fried greens are terrific complements to cool things down. We also liked tender noodles and chicken in their straightforward chow mein. Don't let the modest interior or challenging street parking at times keep you from enjoying this place which we hope continues to thrive.

Yelp
This is amazing how Spices got a noodle house. It's just like the new Spices at 291 6th Avenue at San Francisco.

Yelp
Food: 7/10 Value: 10/10 Service: N/A (takeout only during COVID) Portion size: large This was my first time here! They have a menu with hand sanitizer for you at the front door. You can call in or place your order there. Food only took about 15 minutes from when we placed our order. We got the tan tan mince pork noodles, the spicy brisket noodle soup and the salt and pepper fish fillet. The tan tan noodle were good! And such a large portion. I tasted more of a peanut flavor is this tan tan noodle which I like. It also had some cucumbers and cabbage so at least I got some greens in! The spicy brisket was my favorite! It had the schezwan flavor spices soup base and the brisket was tender and some pieces melted in my mouth! It also came with a good amount of bok choy. The fish fillets were okay. I like the crust to be super thin a flaky so for me there was too much dough on these ones. It had good flavor though and they added a red spice which gave it a nice kick.

Yelp
I tried this place because I was craving some spicy dumplings in chili oil. So I ordered that, some hot and sour soup and a Mongolian beef lunch plate, which comes with white rice. I wasn't impressed by the dumplings. I'm not sure what it was, I think whatever kind of wrapper they use for the wontons was not very good. But I did like them better when I dropped some in my hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was not hot at all. It was just sour. So the two items were made better by each other but that wasn't what I was after. The Mongolian beef was really tasty and the portion was very generous. I think it was a lunch special, but it easily fed two of us. I would return for the Mongolian beef and to try other lunch specials but I'll leave the soup and wontons alone.

Yelp
Spices Noodle House is a spinoff of Spices 1-3, Spices 3 being across the street. The Noodle House is similar flavors but slightly different menus. I have tried their noodle soup and cold sesame noodles. My wife and I really like their desserts like the fried sesame balls and fried mochi. I would go again.
google avatar

Jie L.

Yelp
Decided to give this place a try again after a few years, there was no one there when we showed up on a Friday night. We ordered their sweet & sour fish and the lamb noodle soup. Similar to last time's experience, the noodle soup was super oily and salty. The reason why I gave them an extra star this time was that the fish they used for the sweet and sour fish seem decent quality. Overall, probably won't be going back there again for a LOOOONG time .

Yelp
Nice staff, I don't really eat spicy however staff said they can make it non spicy, yay! meat was flavorful and good portion.

Yelp
Followed my Yelp friend Daniel C.'s 5 star review of Spices Noodle House. The restaurant is actually the old location of Spices 3 that consequently moved across the street to what was once a hot pot restaurant. The interior is the same and the spices motif still on the front window. Construction on 12th Street makes access and parking difficult. We arrived around 2 pm and there was only one other table but they had a brisk take out business. I had a special request for half and half order of spicy brisket and half beef shank noodle soup and it did not disappoint. 5 stars spicy and numbing broth with QQ noodles $9.95. All of the noodle dishes are extra large and and feed two. We also had the Three topping dry noodles $8.95. 4 stars. We ordered two side dishes and it was funny we ordered them seperately but each time the server had to go outside and come back with ingredients each time, like she went to the market. Salt and pepper egg plant $6.95 4 stars Dry Braised green beans $8.95 4 stars. Service was good. Street parking for Oakland Chinatown is always hard during peak dinning hours.

Yelp
Oakland Chinatown seems loaded with good Chinese noodle places, so I should not be surprised when a new one crops up. Spices Noodle House is located right across the street from Spices 3, an established Szechuan place. A few things surprised me about Spices Noodle. First, they serve traditional dim sum along with (Americanized) Chinese rice plates. The noodles go beyond spicy items too - they offer up different chow meins, dry noodles, and noodle soups, spicy and non-spicy. If you have 3-4 people in your group you can get four mix-and-match noodles for $29.95! The spicy beef brisket noodle soup is a thing of beauty! Lots of tender and juicy beef sliced inti thin disks, soft but slightly chewy rice noodles, and a pleasantly spicy, and mouth-numbing broth. They thew in a few pieces of crispy bok choy for good measure. Don't let the redness scare you - its spicy but not painfully so. I also ordered some of the glazed chicken wings to neutralize the aftertaste. $6.95 is a good deal for some crispy wings with piping hot, moist meat underneath. Definitely would come back to try their other offerings. Excellent food, generous portions, and very affordable. 5 stars.

Yelp
My craving for some sort of curry noodle dish led me to spices noodle house since I saw they had a chicken curry noodle soup on the menu. However, after reading the yelp reviews and seeing other picture, I decided to get the beef brisket noodle soup. My bf got the hot and sour lamb soup, and we shared the salt and pepper eggplant. My beef noodle soup was delicious!! First of all, it's a HUGE bowl of noodles with a good amount of beef and bok choy. The noodle texture was great and the beef was tender. Soup was hot and a bit spicy, but not too spicy. I loved it. I also loved the salt and pepper eggplant. Perfect fried and seasoned. I tried a bit of the hot and sour lamb broth and it was also good--definitely a lot of lamb flavor. One thing to note is that they have this poster of a dish on the wall with the words "curry casserole hand pulled noodles" on it, and when I asked about it, the waitress had no idea what it was. I was confused, she was confused--why even advertise it?? The restaurant was empty on a Sunday afternoon, but they did have a lot of DoorDash orders, so service was a bit slow. The waitress never came to check on us except for when she handed us the check. Food is good, and I don't expect great service from a Chinese restaurant, so I'll still give this place 5 stars based on the dishes we ate.
google avatar

Fiona L.

Yelp
Oh my gosh, I ordered off grub hub kind of randomly and I was so pleasantly surprised y'a know because it was like random and I don't ever really eat this type of food. I loved the variety they offer even during dinner. I got the sweet sour soup so good some buns and rice dim sum style stuff and egg plant and green beans. It was all so freaking good. Omg. Definitely get food here!!!!!!!

Yelp
Order from this restaurant if you want to wait 30 minutes and then have your order canceled.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The food and service was fantastic. The photos posted are a little misleading as the portions are larger than what we anticipated. Come check it out! You won't be disappointed!

Angelica P.

Yelp
Okay, I have to write this review so that I remember why I don't often order from here. It's not the worst food I've ever had but it certainly isn't the best. The salt and pepper tofu pictured by the restaurant shows lots of sliced jalapenos and the Singapore noodles I pictured as a deep golden yellow Curry dish. My salt and pepper tofu had exactly 1.5 slices of jalapeno on it, some chili oil and pretty much no salt. My Singapore noodles were a sickly pale off-white color that would struggle to be called yellow. I feel duped! You misleading restaurant...you owe me jalapenos and Curry
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered spicy beef noodle soup on Grubhub, and all I can say was it was decent. I'm Taiwanese so I was raised with traditional flavors and to say the least, this wasn't really it. The level of spice was nice and the noodles were chewy, but the actually flavor had this odd sweetness at the end. They also were skimpy on the meat and vegetables included in the broth. Giving this place a 3 because I was still full in the end, but I can't be wasting money as a broke college student haha.
google avatar

Yelp
Solid Spicy Beef Brisket Noodle Soup! This is, so far, the best thing I've ordered through Foodja to our Alameda offices. I'm interested in trying their other stuff but I've been craving for these delicious noodles again. Great amount of beef, noodles, and bok choy. The noodle soup may seem oily due to the chili oil they added, but just don't drink all of it :)
google avatar

Yelp
Spices Noodle House is a solid choice for noodles. We called our order ahead and it was ready for pickup within 10 minutes. The menu isn't particularly big (and is much smaller than the menu at Spices 3), but there are a number of different noodle dishes to satisfy different cravings, and nearly everything on the menu is $9.95 (with the exception of appetizers, which range in price). Our first experience with Spices Noodle House was in the summer, on a particularly hot day. I wanted the cold sesame noodles, which we got with an order of the wontons in chili oil and tan tan noodles. Unfortunately when we picked up the food and brought it back to our place, the sesame noodles were hot, not cold like we ordered. I placed another order, ensured they'd be cold, and walked back to pick them up. They seemed short-staffed that day, as the hostess seemed to be working the check-in table at the door (pickup only due to COVID), the phone, and communicating with the kitchen, so I cut them some slack. Waited a few minutes and the noodles came out. The cold sesame noodles are my favorite item here. Unique dish, something different to shake up the typical noodle routine, delicious flavors, and like pretty much everything else here you get a generous amount. The tan tan noodles were great, but the won tons were just so-so. Not bad, just not super memorable. I'd rather the carbs be spent on the noodles. Tasty dishes, good value for your money, friendly staff, and fast service.

Yelp
Ordered through Grubhub and got the crab rangoon and salt and pepper fish. Both were great, and not too greasy even though they're fried items. Salt and pepper fish had a numbing pepper spice to it which was nice. I was worried it'd be bland but it was garnished with garlic, green onion, jalapeño and red chilis on top

Yelp
Great dim sum a hole in the wall spot in Oakland Chinatown they have some great pork steam dumplings.

Yelp
Hey Spices Noodle, So... you related to Spices (3) across the street? Or are you guys just like best friends who wear the same clothes and stuff? I had frequented Spices 3 a few times and one day saw you across the street, beckoning me to check you out. Then one day I did it. I looked you up, saw what you got and ordered some food. If I was to summarize my experience in 3 words, it would be... Value, Solid & Noodles. Why? Because I got the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup with Brisket, and then one with Shank. And the soup itself was pretty solid, you gave me enough noodles to feed an army (seriously we integrated your noodles into like two more meals) and because of it, it was fantastic value. I have two little toddlers who if you threw them in a pool of noodles, they would easily eat their way out. So to get a good amount of noodles not just for this meal but to distribute for future meals? That's a big thumbs up from me. Your food isn't mind-blowing (very few are), but simply Solid. And then the value/price take sit over the top. I don't know about some of the your other dishes, they seem pretty standard to me, but not going to rate you one those because well, I haven't eaten then. So here to the noodle bowls. Good stuff.

Alexandra P.

Yelp
Ordered here for the first time, it wasnt the worst chinese Ive had but def not the best either. The chowmein was decent, but the portion was a lot smaller than other take-out places. The sesame chicken sauce was so thick and gloopy, making it not the most appetizing, and the chicken was in huge pieces like chicken strips. The crab wonton appetizer tasted very old and stale...it was gross we threw it away. Everything did however arrive hot which i a plus. Overall I wouldnt order from here again :/ There are better spots. Waste of $$

Yelp
Great value, quality and service! I was in a rush and didn't get to order ahead of time like I normally do. Using the Yelp app in my phone, the ordering online at Spices Noodle House was so quick and easy. I ordered chow mein and paid with Apple Pay in about 15 seconds. I received a confirmation email immediately and was instructed to pick up in about 30 minutes. I arrived there in 20 minutes and my order was already waiting for me! Picked it up and walked back to work, and it was piping hot still and completely packed to the top of the container of yummy noodles! I knew it was a lot in there too - the box was so heavy! :-) Eating the noodles as so good. Not salty or saucy - just the right amount of flavor and not too oily either. Of course, because it was so full, I couldn't finish it and saved some for an afternoon snack in the office. All this for about $11. Will continue ordering from here when I'm in downtown Oakland!

Sarai V.

Yelp
Do not come here! We ordered the lemon chicken, chow fun, chicken fried rice, and pot stickers. The pot stickers were too salty and the lemon chicken was soggy. I didn't get a chance to check the Yelp reviews when ordering on Uber eats, so that was my fault completely. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
This place appears to be a spinoff of Spices 3 across the street. I first came here right after they opened last year and had some grand opening specials, leading me to order way too much, although ordering too much is consistently a me problem... so.... Anyhow, true to their name, they have really good noodle dishes and are a fantastic takeout option right now. Like most Oakland Chinatown places, the prices are as dirt cheap as you can expect to find anywhere in the Bay Area. Give them a try!
google avatar

Ladi H.

Yelp
This is my new go to take out Chinese in Chinatown. They make noodles that are toothsome and hold up nicely in flavorful sauces and soups. I don't arrive home with pasty, mushy noodles. I've enjoyed the Tan Tan cold noodle more than a few times and they are consistently wonderful. The beef chow fun is a large portion and not greasy, but you should love sweet onions when trying this dish. They have Sesame Balls with red bean paste which make for a nice dessert. I understand they have Black sesame mochi balls and I'll try those next trip. Yum!

Yelp
Great service and friendly family-owned establishment with great food. Hasn't let me down yet.

Yelp
Updated review on 7/19/20: Ate here twice since my original review and sad to take away a few stars. The food was SO salty each time; we got preserved egg porridge, salt and pepper fish, braised beef noodle soup, and wontons in chili oil. I'm hesitant to try other things again after 2 consistent bad meals. So bummed.

Yelp
Review #304 - 2019 The four of us showed up around 3 PM for late lunch/early dinner on Sunday, October 27th. The one good thing that came out from the power outage is that I can try new restaurants without feeling guilty. My son got the braised pork noodle soup & he seemed to really enjoy it. He gave me a piece of the pork & it was pretty yummy. My "illegitimate" son got an order of the original beef brisket noodle soup and he said it was really good as well. He asked me if we could come back every Sunday until we've tried every noodle soup on their menu. I went with the hot & sour lamb noodle soup, which I had the last time I was here when it was under their old business name & it was still good. I got an order of the chicken chow mein for my daughter, but she ended up sharing my noodle soup so we had to take the chow mein home, and my son had it for dinner later. The food is actually pretty good, generous portions & reasonably priced; especially because we ordered off of the special menu, four noodle dishes for just $29.95. Can't beat that! Service is very minimal, but this is a Chinese restaurant so it's very normal. The restaurant appears cleaner than when I was here before. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Gave me a lot of big wontons in my soup. Pork and shrimp inside. Good tasting broth.

Yelp
No frills kinda spot but their Spicy Beef Noodle Soups were fire !!!! It was freezing in their but the soup soon warmed me up and I had a lil sweat going. They were like the numbing and mala hot pot that I love so much but in a noodle soup form. We had the brisket version and the beef shank. Both were good. I think I'll try to request half half next time for the best of both worlds. This place is right across from Spices 3 which also owns this spot. Its still pretty new and was completely empty but I hope it picks up. Hard to come across something exactly like this. Order extra spicy if you dare! Happy Grubbin'!

Yelp
We were going to go to Spices 3, but saw this place with the Grand Opening sign across the street and decided to check it out. Apparently they've been open for a couple of months already, but just switched locations with the Old Spices. They are affiliated, though Spices 3 focuses purely on Sichuan dishes while this place (as the name suggests) has more noodle options as well as some Canto dim sum options. Right now they have a deal - 4 bowls of noodles for $30, which is pretty great value. We ordered pork belly noodle soup, sweet & sour fried fish filet, stir fried Chinese broccoli (jie lan/gai lan) with garlic, and West Lake beef soup. Gai lan - 5/5. Very fresh, tender, juicy gai lan, stir-fried perfectly Fish - 4/5. pretty Americanized taste, but crispy and fresh Pork belly noodles - 4/5. The pork belly was soo good! Meltingly tender and unctuous. Noodles were average and the broth was a little one-dimensional, as it tasted strongly of Sichuan peppercorn Beef soup - 3/5. Pretty average, though it's hard to either mess up or elevate West Lake beef soup The proprietors are very friendly, and also they take card! So if you show up to (cash-only) Spices 3 across the street and realize you're missing cash, just head across the street for an excellent meal.
